Review Watermark Docklands - Melbourne

ned m
Had our beautiful wedding dinner here with about 45 close family and friends about 4 years ago in the pavilion area. It was honestly the most beautiful night with stunning views. The waitresses and waiters were extremely attentive and went above and beyond. The manager really made our night so easy and was always in contact with us via email and phone. I do remember being a bridezilla and she always kept her cool lol so I'm extremely thankful for that. My family and friends still talk about it to this day, which led to me leaving this review now. Thanks for making our night extra special and stress free.

Not a bad venue at all. Drinks average around $11.00 and the dance floor is ample space for a quick dance. The dining areas are well spaced and live music is played on Turkish night. It's a lovely location right beside the water. You can drink and smoke at the tables outside the club.

Love coming here it is so easy to get around everything is within reach the hotel was right by the water. You can walk or take trains

Had my 21st in the Pavilion room which was absolutely perfect for what I wanted (a seated dinner for around 40 guests with enough space to still move around and socialise). Communication with the staff was easy and quick during the lead up to the event, and we were able to arrange/decorate the room to however we wanted and all our special requests were met. Overall atmosphere was really nice, the venue had amazing views and the food was great, everyone was extremely impressed with the night!

Great views of The Bolt Bridge & Melbourne Docklands and river Yarra

Killing time before a sunset cruise and there was no hesitation when I ordered a double glass of rosé, a very generous drop for $17 as it was almost overflowing the rim as I carried it out onto the deck. Not to mention a beautiful view of Docklands!

Best function centre right in the heart of the Docklands.

Hosted a work event for a bunch of reality stars and miss universe contestants at Watermark in their Pavilion room and it was amazing! Eloise and the team went above and beyond in the lead up to the event to accommodate us and make sure everything was organised to perfection. The staff on the day were so lovely and did an amazing job. The venue was beautiful, and right on the harbour esplanade with amazing views of the water, boats, buildings and sunset. Everyone had a great time! Thanks Watermark!! 😊😊

Thank you watermark for a lovely night I had with my friends. Thank you too Aaron, Mila and Kanji for the best service I could ever ask for. Best espresso martini maker thanks Aaron

We booked in for some food with friends, and during booking they explained that they weren’t a full restaurant and asked had we looked at the menu. We had and we said we were OK with the menu and all was good, they took our booking (2:30pm on the day for a 6:30 booking)<br/><br/>When we arrived and asked for a menu they abruptly said “you can’t order food”. <br/>When we asked about it they said they had a private function and wouldn’t be serving food. <br/>When we asked about why they would take our booking only hours earlier they said “can’t help you, I’m only the bar manager”.<br/>We had choices of food in the area but chose Watermark so to be shown such incredible disrespect is beyond belief. <br/>I strongly recommend you find somewhere else to go because their attitude show what little interest they have for their number 1 assets.<br/>If I could give it zero stars I would.

Was at a wedding lunch. Asked for a steak cooked rare, & was told it was possible at the time. Served well-done instead. Informed by the chef that it was not possible to dish out a steak rare. Well, why say it was possible in the 1st place then. Did eventually make me one, but after an unnecessary fuss.

Came with some girls and ordered the sweet potato chips with tomato and aioli sauce, potato croquette filled with cheese and angus meatballs with traditional napoli sauce. Great food, great view!

Great views and outdoor setting for drinks and food! Great customer service and food was delicious. Nice tidy restaurant and outdoor and bathroom areas!

What a disappointing evening I had on Saturday at Watermark. I was a guest at the venue for an Engagement and the staff at the venue were completely rude. From the bar service that I was spoken to by a Kate who gave beyond terrible customer service to the wait staff gentlemen who ripped a plate of food off a table outside and said 'You can't eat here and took the plate. I would understand if I was advised nicely that you are not to eat in that section outside and was kindly directed to bring the plate and guest to a different area but for the plate to be pulled off the table and the staff yet again to be rude I was baffled in disbelief. I have come from over 10 years in a customer service background and to be treated that poorly at a event I have left with  a very sour taste in my mouth. I would not recommend this venue to anyone who is holding a event nor would I come here again. Horrible experience is a understatement.  AVOID THIS VENUE.

It can be a wait to get a drink throughout happy hour but with $5 basics you can't complain. Decor a bit plain but it's best to park yourself outside and people watch on the docks.

I had my birthday celebration 1/7/17 I was so happy with the food & service.  Staff were amazingly helpful from the time I booked the event date till the night of the celebration. All my friends enjoyed the food, drinks and the ambience that was created. I would highly recommend for anyone to have their function there. The food is delicious and service 10/10
Good Food Good Mood
There's nothing I enjoy more in life than complimentary bread. It's even better when you can enjoy your free carbs with a lovely water view. This was a great choice for lunch and all four of us were happy with our food. The reviews on here are quite negative but this was definitely not our experience on the day. My pasta was of the same quality that you will find at any casual restaurant either in the Docklands or otherwise. Despite being relatively empty in the daytime there was a lovely atmosphere which I suppose is almost inevitable when you have nice views. Would have no issue returning

I stopped by here with some colleagues yesterday evening. It's nothing short of the perfect place to enjoy drinks and nibbles/dinner. The staff were friendly and welcoming, offering us a table by the window, where we were able to enjoy the fantastic views. Great variety of beers, heaps on tap. Overall, the ambience was warm, relaxing (despite the rainy weather), food served in good time. I will be back very soon!

We went to the docklands with friends last night to watch the fireworks. I want to say a special thanks to all the friendly and professional staff at the Watermark, where we dined. There were many of us including kids, its not always easy going out and dining with kids, but the staff at Watermark went out of there way to take care of us all; BEST SERVICE EVER :)
Must Be Hungry
Watermark is a few words: don't go for food but only for drinks.<br/><br/>We had a table booked and we ordered pretty much most of the mains on their menu. The chicken parmigiana was most definitely frozen, had a bad smell and the tomato on top was straight from the can, chips had no salt and forget the salad. The steak was another item from the frozen section, meat was chewy and the sauce was way too sweet. The pizza was again pre made and defrosted otherwise I could not explain how undercooked and bland it was. Basically a disaster. <br/><br/>On the positive notes service was exceptional, friendly and very attentive, we felt sorry for him to work here. The vibe is good for after work drinks and I would recommend it as long as you don't order food.
DB
$23 for a small, overcooked, burnt BBQ chicken pizza! It had hardly any chicken on it. My friend had the calamari salad, that was also small and he said the calamari tasted like it's frozen not fresh.<br/>I ate all the pizza as I was on a quick 30 minute lunch break and wouldn't have time to complain or eat elsewhere. There is so much competition around here, Black Cod and Tap831 (to name a few) with better tasting affordable lunches. I definitely won't be back, ever!<br/>

I have noticed that this is the most happening place along the dock, but could never understand why the others are so silent!<br/>However, with a few beer options up their sleeve and good starters (chicken), they give you a good time, once you have ordered. I would suggest order all that you can before hand, because sometimes it takes time to get your order placed. The reason being the packed house. But the staff is patient and their service is fast.<br/>Recommended, but only if you want to enjoy drinks by the dock! :)

The oysters were fresh and tasted great. The seafood dish was delicious and well portioned so it was very filling! The strawberry daiquiri was very refreshing.

Ate inside. Had a steak for dinner which was lovely. Would have put 5 stars but I'm still waiting for the bartender to come ask me for a drink. Its been 2 weeks now. Ive lost hope
Our Foodie Finds
The local waterhole for the local corporates as it provides a great view of the dock, has good prices, fusion style pub meals and is easily accessible on the waterfront. Foods reasonably priced with pretty prompt service from the bar staff though it really wouldn't hurt for the chef to season! For lunch today - LINGUINI SEAFOOD $25.0 prawns, scallops, clams, EVO, white wine &<br/>herb sauce & PAN ROASTED SALMON FILLET $29.00 roasted potatoes & citrus dressing. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find.
Small Creek
I've never really eaten a meal here but their bar menu is great when you need an avalanche of bread and potatoes to wash down that happy hour so you can toddle up to the station and get home.<br/><br/>Nice waterfront view with enough shade provided that summer afternoons are passable. Wait staff can be a little tetchy at times but then who's loving that post-work corporate crowd? Certainly not the corporate crowd themselves.<br/><br/>The amenities are pretty great as well - surprisingly spacious and clean.

We were there on a Friday night for a private function. The views were great, location was fantastic and parking was super easy. Our friends who had the function, splashed out on all of us with a menu that seems never ending. Only thing was, food was slow to come. <br/><br/>When they did, the waiter who served us looked messy and couldn't be bothered. He even just placed the platter of food in a corner so he didn't have to walk around. As for the bar waitress, there was no smile and had a constant 'what do you want now' look for everyone who went up to the bar for a drink. There were also a few (no more than 6) young children at the function and the waitress gave them the death stare when she walked around, emptying scrap bowls.<br/><br/>Luckily the mood of the waiter and waitress did not spoil the party, but it could have made our friends who paid for it feel a bit better about the venue.<br/><br/>The food itself were not bad and there was a good variety. I would come back for the food but with the customer service received, I will think again.

A perfect ambiance marked with a descent food on your platter!<br/><br/>It also offers happy hours..so the place the completely occupied on Fridays by early evening!<br/><br/>A good enough place for a couple to drinks and to spend some good time by the bay!<br/><br/>Cheers!<br/>Abhishek

Watermark is a cosy restaurant bar with live jazz and a view of the waterfront. Much of our fascination with the Docklands is based on the planning potential for the waterfront suburb. We love to walk around imagining the possibilties for the area and planning our very own utopia. The reality for now however, is an obvious failure of urban design resulting in a grey concrete landscape and poor use of public space. On the upside, the newly planted Norfolk Pines add some much needed greenery to the area and remind me of my childhood in the Sydney beachside suburb of Manly.

Thank you, Watermark for a lovely evening.

We paid $60 per person for our Christmas lunch. The main meals were atrocious, gluggy mushroom risotto, grey seafood soup and very over done porterhouse steak. Very disappointing. Would never go back!
Keith
No atmosphere. The food was not great. And service left a lot to be desired. Very dissapointed

Roll on Summer. Love this venue in the warmer months - great food, service and just the best views across the harbour. Happy hour drink prices are the best in Docklands. Great place to hang out with my work buddies.

Amazingly professional and flexible venue for corporate events! Friendly staff made our night!. We recently held our inaugural dinner following our annual conference at Watermark in The Loft overlooking the water. A beautiful venue, with an astounding view (complete with fireworks display on the night!). <br/><br/>Prior to the event staff were incredibly accommodating and swift to respond to my correspondence, offering a number of options to best cater for our needs on the night. Our package was tailored specifically for our guests and combined a pre-dinner drinks reception, which flowed seamlessly into a sit down dinner.<br/><br/>We were able to take advantage of the venue's generous 3 hour happy hour deal of $5 house wine, beer sparkling and basic spirits and delicious menu. <br/><br/>The highlight had to be the incredibly friendly manager dedicated to our event on the night - amazing service!<br/><br/>We will definitely be back.

Birthday Celebration - Saturday 5th July 2014 @ 1900. Wow! What can I say? From the time I found the Watermark on the Venuemob website, it had just been smooth sailing. My last venue had sold their business and four weeks out of my event, I was informed I couldn't have my event on the preferred date and that the new owners were not doing events, and so I cancelled because the alternative dates did not suit at all. Well, on reflection, I'm glad that happened. :)<br/> <br/>Tess, the lovely Event Co-Ordinator, including the event staff on the night, have been a delight to work with. What I really liked about the Watermark and of Tess, is that, everything was CAN DO. I can't recall if they ever said no to me. In this day and age, it is not easy to find customer service like the Watermark's, from the quotation process right down to post function feedback.<br/> <br/>The Pavillion is a wonderful space. I love it, along with 80 over of my guests. :) They were pleasantly surprised by the water and landmark views, the outdoor space and easy access to the main restaurant.<br/><br/>The food was delicious and there was plenty to go round. Highly recommended!

Great food, Great view, Great service. I held a function here on Saturday night to celebrate my engagement. We booked the loft space to host our 25 guests for a sit down dinner. The room was great with views across to waterfront city and the melbourne star. Both Lutfiyya and Tess were very accomodating of our requests in what we wanted to do and how we wanted the night to be. The food was great and very well presented. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the venue and their meals. A BIG BIG thank you to Marysia who ran the bar for us for the night. You were awesome and ran everything so smoothly for us. We'll be back for dinner very very soon one Friday or Saturday night.
Boris
Overpriced for what it is. Looks like the toilet doors have been kicked in at some point but never fixed, clearly relies on it's footy crowd to keep it afloat.

Great function place & city views. We recently hosted our engagement function in the loft for our close friends, staff was friendly, informative and very helpful on the night. Lots of fun =)

Watermark is Wonderful. Last weekend I celebrated my 40th birthday in the Pavilion room at Watermark Docklands and I'm so happy with my choice of venue!<br/>The event staff were brilliant, Tess took care of all the planning, allowing me accessn (and helping me) to decorate, and stored my cake for the entire day. I was very happy with all the positive comments from my guests on the night (and still to date) about the venue, the food, bar staff and the waiting staff.<br/>I am so impressed with how well my event went, and it will be a memory I will cherish always!!<br/>I have no hesitation in recommending the Watermark for private functions.... actually, I wouldn't be surprised if I get invited to quite a few 40th's there in the coming years!<br/>Well done Watermark, and thank you once again.... Great place to have after work drinks.. I used to work near watermark and even though its now a bit of a hike my work mates and I still make the trip down here every Friday. The atmosphere is chilled and relaxed and the service is great. We've been here in the bar, the restaurant and for Christmas work functions and are usually served by marisha who's service is impeccable and always delivered with a smile (if you get the chance try her spiced mojito....yum). thanks guys, see you next Friday.

50th dinner & karaoke at The Loft at Watermark. I just celebrated my 50th birthday at The Loft at Watermark Docklands with 20 of my family and friends. We had an absolutely wonderful time. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, food was delicious and fast to come out. I also had a jukebox/karaoke machine and they were very helpful in the setup. All of my friends and family have since contacted me and raved about the space with its beautiful views of the water and buildings opposite including the Melbourne Star. I can't thank The Loft staff especially Tess, enough for making my 50th a night to remember!

Fantastic function venue and incredible staff. I had my 30th birthday at the venue. The staff were amazing, and the food and service was superb. I highly recommend this venue to anyone!

Good food & atmosphere. Great restaurant by the water. Good food, service and huge selection of beers and wine. Had the scotch fillet that comes with big salad and fat chips. Arancini balls are fantastic, and generous serving.<br/>Bread & food came out quickly, perfect service.

Fantastic new head chef, implementing a new menu. My partner and I tried the new entre items and loved it. We will be back for sure! Recommend the sliders, coconut prawns, croquettes and frangelico brûlée YUM!

Been 2 times, second time was told there was a new head chef so I was hoping for an improvement - none!<br/><br/>Food just ok, no where near the quality they charge you for it. Only ones in the restaurant which prob says something.<br/><br/>Lucky it was a work event I didn't pay <br/>both times I went .<br/><br/>Save your money
Penguin
Great location. Food was well prepared and well presented, but I thought a little overpriced for the serving sizes. Friendly staff.

Purchased an online coupon for the seafood platter for two people and my wife and I were impressed. We were greeted by friendly staff, prompt service and a magnificent meal. The platter was fresh, well cooked and had a great selection of prawns, calamari, scallops, fish, oysters, as well as freshly cut chips. It was certainly a great feast for two, and with a bottle of wine thrown in with the deal was great value for money. Thank you Watermark! See you again.

SEAFOOD PLATTER N'MORE. Nice ambiance: we decided to have an early dinner as they opened: patrons starting coming, mainly office colleagues getting for a drink ans some tapas. We loved the ambiance and had a nice experience. Friendly Swedish waitress, good bottle of wine and delicious seafood platter! Yes, happy to recommend and go back. Another plus: easy to get there and, of course, great views 2!

Went there the other day, took 30 mins for food, and got medium steak. I'm no critique but steak was horrible. It was so hard and rough couldn't chew it down sometimes.

Not good!!!. We went here for lunch today and it was nothing short of awful. We were ignored by staff when sitting outside. Moved inside and were ignored some more. Had to request that both our drinks order and food order be taken. After the longest hour of our lives and after asking the waiter 4 times where our food was it arrived. Our parma was cold, lamb water logged and the burger looked like my 1 year old nieces art work. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this place.

We went to watermark last weekend and had a split experience. It is a beautiful venue with amazing views all around and the staff are very friendly from the second you walk in the door. Even though we had to wait quite a bit for our food, and even when the food arrived, we still had to wait for the last meal to be delivered, the service really made up for it. The waitresses were very attentive and friendly and because of this, we will definitely come back. Who knows, maybe we just came on an " off day ". End of the day, the food did taste good at arrival.
KL
Avoid at All Costs. We had a nightmare experience here. The bruschetta arrived well before the 3 other starters, and it turned out it was intended for another table, When the waitress realised her mistake, she asked "if we'd touched it" (which we had), as if this would make it okay to give to another table. It was taken away, but the exact same dish returned 10 minutes later with the other starters, just with wilted lettuce from sitting under a heat lamp. We waited over an hour for our main course after starters. We were given "complimentary garlic toast" for our long wait - 3 pieces for a table of 4. Dessert profiteroles arrived without ice cream mentioned in the menu description, and we received snarkiness from the waitress when we asked why there was no ice cream. Instead of taking the dish back and re-plating it, she brought over a child-size bowl of the worst vanilla ice cream I've ever eaten, then came back to mock us when we didn't eat it saying "you may want to eat that before it melts." One waitress actually admitted that she was embarrassed to be serving the food she was putting on our table. Avoid at all costs.

Been there a few times, with friends, other times with my girlfriend, and always had a great time. Food is awesome and service very good, I tried the paella for the firs time yesterday and I loved it, great value <br/>I recommend it
Emma
Came here with my boyfriend, we ordered the paella for two and the scallops for entrée. Paella was really awful the rice was crunchy uncooked, burnt and dry, the chorizo was soggy, mushy sausage there was some capsicum in there and chicken drumstick but thats all. The flavor of the dish was too salty and lacked depth. Overall we were very disappointed and felt ripped off. There are much nicer places to dine in Docklands I recommend going elsewhere.
Rob
Arrived today for a friends birthday. Took exactly 48 minutes to get our meal. Two colleagues and I ordered 3 x medeteranian lamb salads. Waiter took out 3 x normal med salads with no lamb then told us we had it wrong. Took them back and just threw in 4 small pieces of lamb. (same salad came back) told waiter this is not what the menu states the med salad has in it. He said yes it is. Showed him the menu to prove it and he said "disregard that menu. The chefs left and this chef got it confused" why have a menu then? Lamb way too raw, friend ordered a burger that came out with raw bacon and friends that ordered chicken Parma received it way overdone. If you believe in the customer always being right then don't visit this place. To the waiters credit he did come back and apologise and not charge for the med salads.

Went here for Mother's Day. .... Went here for Mother's Day.<br/>Booked a table at the window, but when we got there we were told we couldn't have it. Pushed the floor manager a little and we got it.<br/><br/>So rough start, but after that the staff were good, the good delicious and quick to arrive, and no other problems. <br/><br/>Won't be back because its too far away from home, but would recommend to others.

Never coming back here ever... My boyfriend and I had dinner here on Valentines day which was easily the worse place that we've ever eaten at. <br/>- Reservation was 'somehow' cancelled<br/>- Then staff told us that we had ONLY an hour to eat inside and when people started to arrive, we had to move our meal outside..<br/>- Was not told that there was a set menu that ONLY had 4 options for mains<br/>- Waiter gave our meal to the wrong table then 3 mins later, took it away and gave it to us.. Was shocked at the lack of service. Unbelievable <br/>- Gave us the wrong sauce for our steak<br/>- Food was disgusting. Too dry, no flavour <br/>- Staff were rude. Took our drinks away before we even finished it....<br/>Overall, I have absolutely nothing good to say about this restaurant <br/>Would not recommend
Mark Clayton
No wonder it's mostly empty...... Location, location, location. Unfortunately not even this can save Watermark. Docklands wants to be good, should be great, but just isn't, and Watermark is headlining in a long list of disappointments at this end of town. Pasta (penne chicken) was tiny, barra was ok but the side salad consistented of a couple of limp bits of lettuce and some tomatoe, the roo (medium rare) was closer to well done, the chicken breast I could have cooked better at home on the bbq after a dozen boags. The staff were clearly more interested in the 'girls' inside ordering soda waters than the diners paying $50 a head. And for $50 a head there is about 1000 better places in town to dine, which is a real pity...... Go to Berth or Oscars. Come on Docklands you are better than this, lift your game !!!
Jazmin
Food and service are below average. Garlic bread was horrible and too oily and cold and wasn't even toasted! We had to ask 3 times for Parmesan for our pastas and risottos. The mains were average too. Definitely won't be returning!
Kat
Pleasant meal and nice location. My sister and I dined here last week prior to seeing Mariah Carey at Etihad. I was quite happy with our meals and the table service. It was clear that they were quite busy given other concert go-ers were out to get a meal in before the show (we didn't have a booking) but the hostess was able to squeeze us in which was appreciated. There seemed to be a bit of confusion when paying our bill and it did take a while - nonetheless our waitress was polite and apologised for the wait - it was busy and that is understandable.<br/><br/>I would return again, the food and the location were nice.

Not a Fan.. On Saturday night my friend and I went to the Mariah Carey concert at Etihad. I live in the CBD and thought that this would be a good opportunity to eat out in Docklands. I know Docklands gets a bit of a bad rap and I usually eat in the city as I can’t be bothered venturing out there, but I thought we should give it a go. When we got to Docklands it was as bad as everyone says, the whole place was deserted with many restaurants closed. We felt happy to stumble across....., mainly because it was actually open. The outside area looked nice, with a BBQ going, but there was no rooms we were seated inside. <br/>We were greeted by a very unfriendly woman who, though seating us quickly, did not return to take a drink order. Another waiter came over (eventually) to take our full order, and he was delightful. The food came out very quickly but was pretty miserable. The garlic bread we ordered was clearly cooked from frozen, and was still frozen in parts, and stale in other parts. The pasta I ordered (the seafood linguini) was also filled with tired old seafood, I actually picked the fish out. My friend had a risotto that was very very oily, and she left more than half of it. Let me tell you, we are not fussy eaters, and the food was simple... it should have been delicious. I could cook better food on a Tuesday night in 20 minutes with whatever was left in my fridge. Also, despite ordering linguini I was given a knife and fork, and had to chase the unfriendly waitress around the restaurant to get a spoon. Finally we asked for the bill, which never came as we sat there in front of our finished meals. I eventually went to the bar to pay, and we left feeling like we definitely should have dined in the city. <br/>We enjoyed ourselves enough because we were catching up and having some drinks, and maybe the BBQ section outside is better, I don't know. I would never ever go back and felt that I needed to review the place.
Nikki
Watermark Docklands. Started off with friendly waiter all looking good. We had a concert to go to so had booked early and had placed our order by 6.30pm. By 7.30 we were<br/>asking "where is our food?" We were told the ovens were down but not to worry it would be here in 5 minutes. Another 30 mins passes still no food. At 8.45 we told them to forget it! Manager had audacity to ask "what is the problem" - Unbelievable!! He said ovens were fine but our order had been misplaced???? Other diners suffered the same fate. Would never go back - unprofessional and totally out of their depth!!!
Paul
Dont go there its the most properly ,unorganized restaurant I have ever been to. The Manager is the most aggressive person I have ever dealt with in this type of environment. I would sack him if he worked for me.<br/>We had booked to Coldplay and he could not give a Sh@t<br/><br/>Not Happy Paul<br/><br/><br/>-----14 Nov, 2012-----<br/><br/>Worst night ever. The manager could not even tell us they couldn't get our meals to us so he told them just to get sending them free chips<br/><br/>I will not ever go there again nor will my 8 good friends

Quality of food has dropped. The meat in our dishes was tough and dried out; i suspected yesterdays left-overs had been reheated on the pan
Soph Rozario
Good service, but very average meals for the price. Had the burger and fries, the bacon was great but the burger patty a little over cooked and overall everything lacked any "wow" factor. Wouldn't really recommend it given all the other great sining options in Melbourne...but the view IS fabulous.

Bad food.... I ve been working in this neighborhood for sometime. This place was never tempted me to go in. however went there with a friend to grab a beer and noticed the schnitzel burger looked good.. So decided to grab some grub from here.. Ordered the lasagna which was served cold. My friend ordered the burger and the schnitzel was over cooked. With the lunch we ordered some coffee as well. It was cold and flat. <br/><br/>The one thing that is good here is the beer... That too is because its not influenced by the chef :-)

Mouth-watering food. I had been told how good the food was by a friend, and was not disappointed. Between 3 of us we tried the bruschetta and saganaki cheese to start [the saganaki was the best I have ever eaten], and for main corse we had Hunter chicken and pork belly. The chicken was crumbed, moist, not oily, just the right amount of 'crunch' and the pork belly was bea-u-tiful with paper thin crunchy skin and SO tasty [not too salty]. The three of us were too full for dessert so we shared a brownie which was warm, melt in your mouth variety. We are not big drinkers but my husband was impressed by the variety of bottled beers. Staff members were pleasant, helpful, happy to chat, and the view across the water was good at night.<br/>We ate at 7.45 pm on a Tuesday and the restaurant was about half full. Service from the kitchen was fairly quick. Will definitely return.

Our Favourite Dinner Spot. We discovered Watermark back in January 2012, had Valentine's day and my birthday dinner here, dinner with friends, and more and the staff and food and ambiance has never disappointed us. Using Entertainment Book vouchers has not altered service in any way. The food is lovely, although some dishes could do with green veggies. The desserts are awesome, especially the Affogato, Sticky Date pudding and a tasting dessert plate with Gelato's. Thursday night Jazz band is great. Most times they use white tablecloths which we love. Service is excellent, friendly and attentive. The views over the Bolte and the Yarra river are very pretty too. Its a quiet hidden dinner spot in Melbourne.

I won't be back. Came for lunch with a few work colleagues. My parma was tiny and the salad hadn't been washed as there was dirt and bugs all through it. When i flagged this with the staff they couldn't have cared less. They didn't get the orders right for all of our party and overall it was a let down. I would only come here for the $5 happy hour drinks, do not eat here.

Diappointing. It was without doubt the worse seafood platter we have had.The prawns were small not fresh and sost,The fish was overfried,The calamari was had and not fresh. The bowl of mussels was non existent as they were microscopic. The salad was routine. All in all a great disappointment.Would certainly not recommend

Cudo offer let down. I had a cudo voucher and had dinner Saturday night with my friend and what can i say , i was very disappointed! The quality overall wasn't very nice and the serving size was less than impressive. The calamari rings were stringy, fishy and frozen, La Porchetta does better. The 2 x small baby octopus were rubbery, yuk- in fact the entire platter was no way near what you would have expected - even if the normal price would have been $59, it would have been a rip- to make extravagant claims on the cudo voucher, is only setting up for a disappointment.<br/>It was a seafood plate not "platter" for 2. The side salad on the plate made it look more bulked up than it actually was. <br/><br/>It is very sad as it appears inferior quality food was served bc it was a "cudo" voucher- the whole idea is to serve what you normally would, with the objective of resulting in satisfied clients, and repeat business and word of mouth. I was very embarassed to ask my friend for $45 (we split deal) - ie the voucher, plus we ordered chips (to fill us up) and dessert.<br/> <br/>I actually work nearby and if the experience was positive I would have recommended for work lunches etc. It's such a pitty, great location, has jazz and overall nice ambiance, especially for summer and yet a place i wouldnt come back to nor recommend.
Crackers Out And About
Went to the Watermark with the intention of booking it for my wife and my joint 50th birthday party. It was a wednesday and not busy. We were greeted by a waiter as we walked in and ushered to a table. We were given menus and found that it was so dark we couldn't read them. The wife went out to the bar area where there was some light so she could read the menu. The candle holder on our table was not lit and had a burnt out candle in it. Finally we decided on the Atlantic Salmon an I had the Lamb Shanks. Topped off with a nice red. The bottle of red arrived promptly and the waiter said I don't pour wine because I normally spill it. Great!! We poured our own wine and soon the meals arrived. My wife was happy with the salmon giving it an 8 out of 10. I received one shank even though the menu said shanks and it was like a piece of leather. The knife I had could not cut the meat off the bone. It was disgusting. The waiter was no where to be seen to complain about the meal. I left my whole meal except for the six beans I ate. Eventually 10 minutes after my wife had finished her salmon the waiter came back. I advised her that I am not paying for my meal as it was not edible. They took the meal off the bill! The food standard and service at the Watermark I would rate at 30%. I live in Southbank and have eaten at most restaurants on the strip and the Watermark doesn't meet any of their standards.

Worst steak ever. Burger was tasty. Service was friendly but sparse. I'm so disappointed about the over-cooked, tough rump steak!

Average. We visited Watermark using the Cudos seafood platter meal deal. Wine wasn't too bad, seafood platter was average, but we weren't expecting too much for $59. We also ordered a side of chips which came out cold. Would probably only visit again for drinks.

Very average. Slow service. Came here on a special deal and it was not worth it at all. They certainly didn't entice us back. Firstly they sat us upstairs which is almost in the office. The wine that came with our meal wasn't even on the wine list and was terrible. The food was underwhelming to say the least.

Good food and good location. Celebrated my 31st anniversary at the Watermark and enjoyed the service, food, and location. It is a nice place to be.

A few of us dined at Watermark a while back using a VCHR from the Ent Book. No complaints at all, the service was both friendly and attentive on what was a busy night for them. The food was above average and reasonably priced so thumbs up all 'round :)

Disappointed. Seafood platter was very pretty average, tasted better. Service was okay

Nice food and atmosphere. We came here in late 2011 with a meal deal for a 2 course meal and wine. When I arrived there was no-one as front of house, I had to find someone and ask them where I could sit. The offer was for unlimited wine and they didn't disappoint on this, although it sometimes took quite a bit of effort to get the staff's attention. The starter was a plate of dips which wasn't anything special. The main course was porterhouse steak with vegetables which was beautiful - cooked exactly as requested and a generous size. <br/><br/>The location is nice and it has a simple modern feel. The staff were ok but as mentioned before, it was hard to get their attention when we needed something.

Happy Hour!. Really enjoying the happy hour from 4pm.<br/><br/>I work around the corner and its great to go in and grab a nice glass of red after a busy day at work.<br/><br/>The new entertainment on Friday afternoons is a real treat.<br/>And how great are the fatty fries and aioli! <br/><br/>Top points to the new owners!

What A Great Find. What a great find the Watermark is. The venue is right on the water at Victoria Harbour, modern premises with fantastic food, great service and a location second to none. My friends and I will make this a regular haunt in the future for sure. Thanks for a great evening.

Unsteady start for new management. As of late 2011 Watermark is under new management who appear to be trying to make the place a little more up-market, which would be a shame in itself, but they've actually sent the quality of the food and service downhill as well.<br/><br/>The first members of our party to arrive were told to grab a table and someone would come and take our order. A couple of minutes later the rest arrived and had their orders taken at the bar. Those receiving bar service got their meals 20 minutes earlier than the rest. One person received no meal at all until the waiter noticed that everyone else had a meal and lied "it's coming out right now" (translation: "we stuffed up, I'll have the kitchen rush that"). Friday lunch-time is no time to be wondering whether you're a bar service or table service kind of place, and given how slow and inattentive the table service was, I sure hope they settle on bar service in the end. If you take an order up-front and send a person to their table with a drink already in hand, by the time their meal arrives they'll be ready for a second drink - selling more drinks seems like good business to me.<br/><br/>The chicken parma is gone and will be missed, despite the occasional tough and dry schnitzel. I ordered the veal parma, hoping to convince the new management that parma demand is strong in the Docklands. First up: more crumb than meat is always wrong - no-one wants a mouthful of your stodgy crumb mix. Second: the schnitzel was cut with the grain, not across it as you'd expect. This made every mouthful a chewy, rubbery ordeal. I assume Watermark gets its schnitzel pre-sliced (dare I say it, probably pre-crumbed as-well) - they really need to get on to a new supplier. Lastly, in regards to the "Napoli" sauce, it seemed to consist of nothing but canned tomatoes and onion, lightly cooked. Even "just tomatoes and onion" cooked long enough can deliver a rich flavour, but this was watery and bland.<br/><br/>Watermark has a great outdoor location for our regular Friday lunches - close enough to the office for convenience, with the shade of a lovely old peppercorn tree and water views. It is my sincere hope that the new management can match or better the quality of food and service offered before they took over, but they've got a long way to go. I'll be back in the new year to find out.

$10 Lunch Box a winner. The Watermark has just introduced a new $10 lunch deal and I don't plan to ever pack my lunch again. The lunch box comes with a gourmet roll, salad & a muffin, packed in a cute box. Highly recommended

Great spot!. Friends and I frequent this place for after work drinks on a Thurs and Fri and we often go for lunch. We have found the staff to be warm and friendly and I really enjoy the lunch specials. The Chef there seems to know his pasta, try the ravioli when it is on the specials list, it's delicious.

Watermark. Pleasantly surprised! <br/>My partner and I were informed of watermark recently and thought we'd give it a try.<br/>I don't usually venture to the docklands, but I must say, wow.<br/>The views and the food collectively made for a memorable night for us. <br/>We don't get to go out to restaurants much so I must say, if you are looking for somewhere new ...give this place a try. <br/>Thumbs up!

Even better with new management. We really enjoy all the members benefits that these guys offer. Relaxing friendly atmosphere. 2 for 1 drink specials on a friday after work. Agree with the other reviews. Very good meals and generous serves. Highlight of the week in the office is 2 for 1 coronas on a friday. Giddy up. Is it friday yet??
Kate
Can't go past 241 Coronas and spirits on Fridays! Haven't tried the food though...
