Aeroplane Jelly For Me

I rarely write reviews but felt obliged today after visiting The Hanging Gardens. My husband is Arab and I'm not but we have travelled the Middle East including Lebanon a few times, and have been to many Middle Eastern restaurants in Melbourne. This restaurant definitely stood out in service and elegant decor just like a good restaurant in Beirut, not to mention the food - the freshness and quality of the ingredients and the subtle balance of flavours were exceptional. We are surprised the rating is not higher. Will go back.
Came to this place for lunch with my parents. It was super empty but there were quite a few staff there and the service was great. I ordered the chickpea salad which was amazing, really fresh and delicious. My parents food was also great, especially my mum’s meal (the vegan main).
Overall, this place was really good in terms of food and service, and the decor was also really beautiful.

Food was great and the Service even better.. Been going here for some time and can see it becoming a Brunswick institution if people support it!!
This was my first visit to the this place after hearing a lot of good things about the food and the service. What I heard is truly the case as the food is very good and close to the original you would have in Lebanon. The service is great also with very friendly staff who are knowledgable about the menu and help you make your pick. Overall the experience was great and will be visiting this place again for sure.
I wish I'd taken pictures of the amazing food we had here. I've been to many Lebanese restaurants but rate this place as the best tabouli and shish tawouk in Melbourne. 8 females with mixed dietary requirements and all walked out pleased! Definitely coming back
It's my first time having a middle eastern cuisine, and this restaurant make a positive first time experience. The mixed grill was fantastic and the restaurant is spacious as well. Would definitely go back to the restaurant and try out different menu as the price is worth of money. Also, the staff are friendly which make my 1st experience even better towards middle eastern cuisine. Would recommend friends and family to dine into this restaurant
First time eating at this restaurant and I was not disappointed. I was greeted by friendly staff, and I ordered the Chicken Skewers. The chicken was cooked well and the flavour was excellent. Being satisfied with my first dish, I ordered a desert being the baklava. I’d had a few baklavas before, but this one really stood out in terms of flavour. Overall, it was a good experience, the food was great and I would like to come back to experience more fantastic Middle Eastern food!
This restaurant produced delicious Middle Eastern food, leaving my family walking away very satisfied. The staff were very friendly and happy to answer any questions in relation to dietary requirements. I highly recommend this restaurant; I will definitely be back very soon!
We really enjoyed our meal here. We had the four course meal and would highly recommend it. The restaurant was really nice and the staff super friendly.
DELICIOUS MIDDLE EASTERN FOOD is what this place offers and
it is amazing.
I was delightfully impressed with the variety of food on offer and
the taste was delicious. Lovely staff who were friendly and knowledgeable of
the food served.
Haven't had a lot of middle eastern food so had a lot of
questions and the staff explained politely and guided us with the food.
The food was exquisite, delicious and definitely going back
for.
Would highly recommended to anyone and everyone to give it a
go and try something wonderful.
Great place for a family dinner. Great grill, chicken nicely prepared, kofta best I've had, lamb nice and lean and the dips - best I've ever had. Service was fantastic. Definitely coming back.
Lovely hospitality with hand down most authentic middle eastern food. This also extends to their selection of Raki/Arak and some of the tastiest Lebanese beers. Highly recommended.
Great meal. New decor is stunning. Lovely staff. Trios of dips is a winner, huge like all the dishes but quality also. For main we had chicken kebabs and beans which were great. And lamb tenderloin which was over cooked, served with chips and veg. It was more Manchester than Marrakech! I will return but only have middle eastern dishes, which were great

On our first visit, we’d also tried the kebbe and the lamb kebab (lahm meshwe). Both were excellent.
Which brings me to another point. To really appreciate the menu, it’s probably best to visit in a larger group. The servings are generous, so you can’t just order a whole lot of things for two people (we were struggling to finish our two mains). There are plenty of things we’d like to try, so we’ll no doubt go back for a few more visits.
Excellent restaurant.
Authentic food. Great to see they scrapped the pasta from their menu and kept the menu strictly Iraqi/middle eastern food.
Service is really friendly aswell.
Much recommended.
The Hanging Gardens Restaurant is a beautiful restaurant. From the street view to the interior decor and set up, there is elegance and sophistication. With a spacious and modern dining area, the Hanging Gardens is a pleasure to dine in and can cater for groups of all sizes. This is the first Mesopotamian Style restaurant I’ve been to and first time trying out Iraqi cuisine. It reminds me a lot of mediterranean and Lebanese flavours with its assorted dips and meats.
Overall the food tonight was outstanding and the flavours complemented each other rather well. With each dish extremely wholesome and bursting with flavour, this made for a very filling, and gluttonous feast, with a tad of sensory overload..With an absolutely stunning and elegant fit-out that is well suited to large groups, The Hanging Gardens is definitely THE place to visit for authentic Iraqi cuisine in Melbourne. From the warm and hospitable service, to the delicious Middle-Eastern dishes, the experience was highly memorable and needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
By far the best restaurant I have been to in nearly 6 years in Melbourne that ticked all the boxes, food, service as well as venue! Thank you! :)
Finally a restaurant with Decent Iraqi cuisine.
Nice interiors and friendly staff. Atmosphere is enjoyable with middle eastern songs in the background. Service can be slow sometimes, there are items on the menu seems to be always missing when you try to order'em.
I ordered the kebab, nice and succulent but still not very tender. Starters are ok, ordered the trio of dips and the basturma, they didn't taste anything more special than what you can get from a tinned hummus or babbagunuch.
Overall I would still rate them high because they still one of the decent Iraqi ones around
It was an amazing place to celebrate my friends birthday. Delicious food, lovely service plus open kitchen show.
Highly recommended.
Good luck guys
It was a great !! this was my first visit and the restaurant was amazing
the staff is lovely and welcoming & we had the manager of the restaurant has came and said hi and introduce himself and also advise us if their is anything he can do to improve his service

Good luck !
Delicious food, good atmosphere, very nice dancer, good price, friendly staff, very clean. The only issue was that the food came in late after 35 min
Very tasty food ....they cook dishes in their own way not as we know ..staff super friendly specially Mr.Wisam ... very clean ...recommended ...thanks
Good food, well priced. Food was made fresh, will come back.
Edit: Came back a year later, food was still good and prices are still decent. 👏🏼
Very good service, very delicious food, and very nice staff.
Great taste! Generous portions! good price!
We had there lunch last Sunday, and ordered banquet: four course meal. Food was very tasty and full of flavor, salads very fresh, and it was so much that we hardly have any of main meal but we took it home and had next day for dinner. Finished with coffee and baklava. Didn't like baklava, it was a bit dry. But everything else was great.
