Thanks for the meal!
Ordered beef borito.
This place surprises me every time. Not an expert in Mexican food but the flavours are refreshing and filling. Love the tender pieces of beef, the perfectly cooked rice and their tangy sauce. Perfect pre flight meal!
Despite being a chain - Salsas is one of the better food options (and healthier) at the airport. Good tasting, fresh, Mexican flavours that is always consistent.

Well, knock me over with a feather. We finally found decent food at Melbourne airport. And, from a chain store would you believe.
It was early afternoon as we made our way through terminal 4. After marvelling at the jumbled and disjointed design of the place we found ourselves past the baggage drop and through security. We’d made it to the food court. Food choices at this airport are usually highly problematic, in my experience. Choices are usually thin, quality typically low, service often surly. Foodie hell basically. The only memorable food I’ve ever had here was in the glory days when I was in the Qantas Club for work. I could usually find something half decent to nibble there and membership had the added advantage of free alcohol after 11am. I did take advantage of that more than once especially after a bad day. Two or three pinot gris before a flight and suddenly the day seemed a little better.
Back to the matter at hand. We got to the food court and saw the plain but comforting neon sign for Salas. We’d had some of their food elsewhere and liked it. We liked it very much here too. I had the guacamole and fajita chicken bowl. I have rarely made a wiser choice. This is a super airport meal. It’s made fresh on the spot, it’s quick, it’s tasty, it’s relatively healthy, it’s a decent size. Everything works here. It’s bordering on genius. The dish is very satisfying. The fries were good too. Yes, overseasoned but we didn't care. In context they were delicious. My partner had the fajita chicken burrito. She proclaimed it delicious and very good value for $8.
Yes, I know it’s fast food. I know it’s a chain place. It may be nothing near authentic. But I just don’t care. This food was delicious and good value.
Recommended.
Wowi. Who would of thought a food court mexican dish could win me over. the beef nachos was devine- fresh, tasty and ticked all the nachos boxes for me. most places you eat at in the airport are a rip off. This place is a jewel in the nile of airport average. Well done Salsa Fresh Mex.
Grabbed a quick bite on way out of Melbourne through Terminal 4. Enjoyed a pulled pork bowl ($13.95), with added guacamole, a chicken & grain salad ($13.95), and some mex fries.
The bowl and salad were full of flavour and freshness, a reasonable size for lunch, and nicely presented. The crinkle fries were pretty good too.
Staff were friendly and helpful, explaining some questions that I asked.
Recommended if you’re after a pretty healthy option before flying
Not a bad place to get your Mexican fix at the airport! I loved their steak fajitas but this time round, I decided to try their nachos with the pulled beef. Totally worth it. The gooey cheese, the tender beef, the sour salsa - yum.
I got a dish recommended by a crew member. Absolutely loved it. Highly recommend to get fresh food if you are in a rush.
