My partner and I first ate from here from a Menulog delivery. We now come eat here every time we’re in the city. It’s our absolute favourite place to eat. The BBQ spicy pork belly is amazing!
When I first arrived, I didn’t expect much from this place given its location (I don’t expect much from food courts); I was simply looking for somewhere to have a quick lunch on my way to a meeting.
I got myself a chicken katsu bento box (pictured) and prepared myself for what I thought would be something unpleasant. I was wrong, the service was quick, the portions I believe were generous for the price, it wasn’t at all greasy, and the chicken was lean and fresh.
I’ll most definitely be back here if I feel like grabbing a bite away from my office.
Might have to be back for a second attempt as this was crammed into a lunch break for a first aid training course done in the same center. As the Fried and Tried guy does went with the "small" KFC (thats KOREAN fried chicken for the uninitiated) and was pleasantly greeted by a massive serving containing the essential wing, leg and TWO thighs!! Also had a couple of crispy boneless off-cuts for good measure. Fried to perfection, although not the thin, wafer-like coating your used to with Korean style and more reminiscent of your heavier, craggy Southern-style. Sauce suffered from the over-reliance on sweetness most Korean sauces do, whilst the common sides of pickled radish and coleslaw were nothing to write home about. Well worth a visit and will be back for sure to give the true Fried and Tried breakdown.
Ordered the chicken katsu on a work break. The chicken was cooked perfectly and very crispy. Great mixture of everything. I'd recommend for a quick feed.
I went to donburi and bbq couple of days ago, Korean boneless chicken was really amazing, especially sweet spicy yangnyum flavour. If anyone want to try Korean chicken, I highly recommended this place to peops
Donburi & BBQ is a small restaurant/stall situated in the ground floor food court of the Paramount building, near the corner or Exhibition and Bourke Street, Melbourne. The restaurant serves Korean and Japanese focussed food. Although it is technically a food court outlet, don’t let its appearance fool you. The food is of a reasonable quality, and is very competitively priced.
Self serve place for lunch is ok. Some dishes are a bit oily. The fried chicken are very tasty. Interesting selection of seaweed rice and kimchi rice.
Good for Takeaway. Fried chicken to your door!
I was surprised they delivered out to North Fitzroy.
Was worried it would be soggy by the time it was delivered but it was still nice and crispy.
I'll order again!
Surprised by the comments. I get delivery from here - it is quick, tasty and affordable. Will definitely keep going back
Used groupon voucher. Fast service, good portion size. Cooked to order.
Cheap as chips Japanese/Korean takeaway, at these prices can't complain, meat is seered well despite being a budget offering. The korean fried chicken pieces are worth trying.
Edit: returned for the first time in over 2 years and the Korean fried chicken is still on point. For thr best experience skip the bain-marie and go straight do to a made to order dish.
By far the best value for money in Melbourne! The service is always amazing and the food is like nothing I have ever tasted. Always delicious and I can't wait to come back. Been coming here that often that the wonderful and kind girl at the counter knows my order by heart, changes and all! Best Korean BBQ Melbourne has to offer!
The veg gyoza were delicious! Had a tofu bibimbap which could have had a little more flavour but it was still good enough to eat it all, so that says it all too. Great for a quick take away on my overnight stay in the city.
This restaurant has delicious Korean BBQ, simple Japanese food, and chicken and beer!(Korean calls it Chi-Maek🍗+🍺=👍🏻🤣) Very pleasant, delicious and affordable. I recommend it to the office workers working around here. I'm sure it's the best lunch menu.
We had the bbq pork belly cooked with onions and capsicum (came with miso soup, rice & a small lettuce salad with pickled radish) and japchae noodle. So delicious!! The smokiness of the flavour of the pork belly is our favourite now. The japchae on it owns can be a bit salty but have it with kimchi is how it should be done and it’s a perfect combo. Miso soup was good too and all servicing portion are good value for money. Yummy place!
the best Korean Fried Chicken ever. smoked soy & yumyum soy are really good flavors Also, original fried batter is crispy ! I am really enjoyed this reastaurant food, highly recommend👍👍👍
