NEW MANAGEMENT! have made a huge difference. I own a day spa in the area and we are ALL about service. So I was rapt to see the higher level of service, the great coffee - really, truly good coffee - and the fresh, well made food. I love the pastries and baked goods here. You will enjoy this cafe if you like a good coffee, a working lunch, a sweet pick-me-up and a casual northside vibe that is hard to find south of the river.
We popped in for a late lunch and felt welcome straight away. The owner was super nice and happy to accomodate different requirements. A new business well worth the visit!
Delicious food and very friendly service! My friend and I both had the quesadilla with beef and tomatillo salsa and we really enjoyed them and had to take half away because the serving size is so generous. Would definitely recommend if you find yourself in the south bank area
Great food. Good to great service, can be busy at lunchtime. Usually have two soft tacos, and that is a lot of food. Found some combinations can come out a bit sweet. A flavour favourite.
Great food but the owner/manager is a little soup nazi-esque. During our 20 minutes in the store we witnessed him yelling randomly at the staff for no reason, singing loudly like a drunk man, argueing with one customer because apparently the prices had gone up but the menu hadn't been updated to reflect it, and refusing to serve another a salad takeaway... Again, go for the amazing food and entertainment if you're in to that sort of thing.
If you are looking for healthy, good quality, great quantity, tasty and cheap Mexican food you cannot go wrong with Beggar's Bowl. I wish there were more Mexican restaurants like this.
I had their Beef taco with guacamole, coleslaw and was impressed with the quality and quantity of the Taco. I found one taco to be quite filling but if you are a bit more hungry two tacos would stuff you for sure. Very satisfying!
I want to try other items from their Menu and would definitely return. It is a great place to grab some lunch and provides an excellent value.

What a treat!! My picture below doesn't do justice on how good their quesadilla was. Pork was spot on and their tomatillo salsa was incredibly fresh with lots of coriander. I could also choose the level of heat which I loved. I work right next door to this place and I had never noted them despite actively looking for it from across the street. I'm definitely coming back.
We get catering for our office weekly from The Beggars Bowl and the food is always outstanding. So much variety, from burritos to goulash to schnitzel and everything in between, they're really creative, and every dish is delicious. They also do a great coffee, and all the team are delightful. I can't recommend them highly enough!

My #1 for catering anywhere near Melbourne CBD/Southbank. A hidden gem in Southbank that has the most awesome burritos that I've ever eaten outside of Mexico and salads that are to die for, I say that as someone that normally avoids purchasing salads. Indeed the Beggar's Bowl is so good that I now have lunch catered from them every day for all of my staff at Big Ant Studios. I could not be happier with their service and the quality of their food.

Best taco's in Melbourne?. I'm a massive fan of Mexican food and have been to every Mexican restaurant and tacueria Melbourne has to offer. The beggar's bowl is unassuming on the exterior, but don't let that fool you, these are the best taco's I've had in Melbourne yet, and overall I rate The Beggar's Bowl right up there with my other favourite Mexican restaurant, Mamasita. If you're into taco's and Mexican food generally, then you've gotta check it out.
Rubbed Pork Torta with Pear and Cummin Jam, Zucchini and Coriander! Delish. This food is THE BEST for a quick take out lunch idea - I've never tasted flavours like it.. AMAZING - you have to try it. These Chef's know what they're doing!
Phenomenal mexican food that is high quality for a great price! Portions are large - I had the pulled pork bowl and all meat was moist and tender. Best mexican in Melbourne !

Awesome, substantial breakfast torta (bacon, eggs, cheese on toasted flatbread), your choice of coffee. Mine was an excellent 2-shot Long Black. All this for $10!!
They also have a lunch special.... Maybe I can try that tomorrow!
If you're in the area, stop by and grab some grub. Don't waste your time & money at Salsa's in Southgate. Reasonable pricing but can be a wait if busy.
