Review Yang's Braised Chicken - Melbourne

The OG Crazy Wing is back! This place can be really busy sometimes. We went during quiet time, been wanting to go back to this place for ages. ❤️: what we loved is their cucumber salad, super refreshing to have with skewers. Soup was delicious too, great flavour. Oh! Must try their pepper wings, not too spicy and heavenly. Would 100% come back here again. One thing we would say is that lamb skewers are must have too, even though is not the juiciest, it is still tender and flavourful. Oh, try the crazy wings, not too much though 😋

🍢 skewers 🏠: @crazywing_mel 📍: Little Bourke St, Melbourne 📝: Walked pass this shop and heard about the spicy wings here so many times. Finally got the chance to try out “Melbourne’s spiciest wings”. ❤️: We were thrilled by the amount of food we ordered, yes, we over ordered, accidentally 🤣. The super spicy wings were painfully spicy. Had one bite and that was it lol. Our favorite dish was the Dough with Eggs, which looks like porridge but actually isn’t. They’re pieces of dough which are super tasty and chewy.

Crazy Wing definitely will drive you crazy, in a good way. The skewers here are absolutely delicious, and I especially love the lamb and chicken wings skewers. Can't go wrong with the Honey BBQ Mantou too - caramelised goodness! The Dough and Cabbage Soup was a surprise hit with us, it reminded me of a congee albeit with a thicker consistency. It was so flavourful and hearty! And if you dare, go for the crazy spicy chicken wings, definitely not for the faint hearted!

What delicious and aromatic foods. The smell of the rich spices can be smelt when the food comes out. We order some skewers - pepper, garlic, honey spicy, chicken skin bbq ham sausage - each was so rich in flavour and tender. I loved the honey mantou as it was so soft yet crispy. The cold noodles was quite generous for a entree. The dumplings were a good size and full of filling.

I really like the Chinese burger here! Best I’ve tried in Australia. And the taste of the bbq here is good enough for a 5 star review. It really reminded me of my childhood memory - sitting on a table outside on a random street, drinking beers and eating skewers with couple friends and chatting and laughing. Definable coming back for a late dinner in Melbourne.

Finally found this place. It’s been such a long time since I have been to crazy wing. Omg people if your planning on visiting for the first time then careful of what you order. Spicy wings turned out more spicier than I thought and crazy wing was insanely hottttt. I would say my favorite was the garlic one and my partner liked the honey spicy. One let down on Sausages as unlike what it says wasn’t really crispy and no fallout to it at all! Over all, happy with the experience

@crazywing_mel is where you can find authentic and flavourful skewers of myriad varieties, besides delicious Asian mains like fried rice, noodles. We had a gala skewers feast with Chiba tofu, fish tofu, whole squid, prawns, lamb flaps, mushroom ball, pork belly, lamb meat, honey bbq steamed bread, bbq wings with red bean sauce taste. The last two skewers were the only ones that gave us peace after having all those fiery, spicy, hot yet extremely addictive and perfectly grilled seafood, meat and veggie skewers. All these were so crispy, yet juicy and packed with hot flavours. Definitely you need to carry a small bottle of milk with you to handle the heat. Despite of that, the taste was simply superb, mind blowing and so irresistible. We also had yangzhou styled fried rice with prawns, so simple yet so full of taste. The best part of this restaurant @crazywing_mel is the prices, oh my, you won’t find this price level in any of the fancy looking new restaurants, where the quality and quantity both are bad yet the price is enormous! But in here, the quality, quantity and taste is fantastic and definitely this place is one of the best budget eat restaurant in Melbourne, where traditional and authenticity comes before everything else. Guys do checkout @crazywing_mel in Chinatown and lose yourself in the yummy flavours of their skewers, fried rice and noodles.

Spicy 🔥 heaven at 📍 @crazywings I’m not a strong spicy eater and super glad @crazywing_mel have different levels of 🌶🌶🌶 We had their - famous chicken wings in garlic 🧄and black bean flavour (didn’t dare to try their crazy chilli 🔥) - Pipi and vermicilli - Lamb bun 🍞 - Shredded chicken 🍗 Absolutely love all their dishes here! 🥰The skewers and chicken wing was packed with flavours with their chilli powder on top They were “oh god” tender and soft too! My ultimate favourite ❤️ is the pipi and vermicilli… That bowl was full of pipi (definitely bang for it’s bucks!) and that kick of chilli 🌶 aroma absolutely was mouth watering! ✅ Highly recommend checking them out Follow me on IG @eatwithmishy for more reviews! ☺️

Random lunch stop as our lunch plans fell through. Their menu doesn't get more simpler than this, a handful of braised meats on the menu, dumplings and small sides. I got their braised chicken (mild) casserole (small) with no additions.

It came topped with bok choy, jalapenos and cooked with a tiny amount of mushrooms, all meals accompanied with rice. For small size, it was very generous and the chicken pieces all seemed like they were from the leg and were really tender. I'd personally add more mushrooms because braised chicken and mushrooms are a classic Chinese combination.

There's also some self serve soups which we did not try as we were pretty full. Decent hearty and filling meal.

Food is mediocre at best, price is kind of alright. When I finished half of my meal, customers in the next table found a living cockroach in their rice. Basically, mediocre food with a reasonable price + poor hygiene. I regret spending 14.8 on their large chicken casserole

I think this place is alright and cheap. I can recommend to stick with the chicken casserole and add a bowl of rice because the chicken can get really salty but if u mix it in with the rice it actually makes it perfect balance. Is definitely affordable and they offer free seaweed and egg soup and red bean soup, they have salt and sugar if not enough seasoning. Pork ears potion huge but very spicy to me. Overall i highly recommend chicken casserole with rice and a cold mushroom salad (cold spiced enoki mushroom). Trust me it will never go wrong with those. :)
Food : 5/5
Decor : 2/5
Service : 3/5
Interesting how this place only have a few main dishes for their menu. The chicken dish is a bit too salty. There were free seaweed egg soup and red bean soup. The red bean soup was the worse ever. Tasteless and runny water-like.

Was in the search for a cheap dinner option while wandering Chinatown, and stumbled upon this little store. What drew our attention was the fact that it was a small space but packed with people dining, as well as those waiting for takeout.
Despite being called “Yang’s Braised Chicken Rice” on Zomato, their specialty is “casserole” dishes.
Between the two of us we ordered a large bbq pork rib casserole, a plate of lamb dumplings (which in my haste to dig into them, I forgot to take a photo of...) and a side of pigs ears in chilli oil. They also had free seaweed and egg soup! Was satisfied with all the dishes, they were good and flavourful.
One thing to note though is that if you want to try this place you should have someone that speaks Mandarin, and also keep in mind it is a very “authentic?” Chinese restaurant. It is busy, and service is fast but not “attentive”, which just adds to the authenticity of the place to be honest!

Beef was stink. Service was bad. But the Portion is enough.
The staff pulled the stinky rubbish bin inside and out , which is not ideal.

Never again.

Despite low scores given by others I am loving this tiny gem at China town. You have to share your table with others tho. My favourite is Chicken casserole and pickle chicken feet. Everyone’s dining here speak Chinese and little English, thats why their food is non ordinary.

It caters for Chinese customers mostly so the shop’s name is in Chinese obviously. When it comes to service, its a bit hard to communicate with the server or maybe I was with a new staff who didn’t know much. The portion was generous

I was excited to try out this famous(?) chinese dish. Pretty sure they use frozen chicken and as such disappointing taste &texture wise. Pork ears was fairly big in portion. Seasoning is alright but it was very hard to chew. Also there was a small cockroach STROLLING on my table when i was eating. I just left since the food was below average anyway and that insect friend made it WORSE. I would give a zero if i could.

A hidden gem!!! Surely it is a great place for chicken hot pot with rice during winter time. They also have other hot pots like pork rids and beef brisket. You get to choose the level of spiciness or not spicy at all. Portions are generous or prices are cheap! There are also complimentary sea weed soup and red bean soup. The service is a bit rushy though, they kind of like want you to come to the counter and order straight away....but at least the service is efficient. At busy hours it may be hard to find a table so you may need to share the big table with other people.
