Probably the most decent cafe around this st kilda area where the coffee and service are reliable. My long black was better than I expected. Love it!
Nice ambience outdoors probably helped that it was a superb day. Friendly service but coffee was a little strong for my liking . Suits those that are into their strong coffees.
Cool hipster cafe without the hipsters for the corporate people of St Kilda Rd. Very unique layout with the counter in the middle and a bench on the window side with all the suits having their coffee breaks/meeting. LOVE the concept! Its chilled, comfortable and homely.. feels like a bar actually .. but instead serving coffee. Service was great from the asian girl at the counter, treated everyone equally nice. Ham and cheese baguette was simple and amazing! And the coffee was quality!
First off – I love this beautiful place! The interior is open and aesthetically simple but classy. I love the high timber benches with the low benches against the tall glass windows. The café itself is pretty much coffee and there’s a small selection of pastries and baguettes for those keen workers needing a quick bite. Turnover is fast, service is friendly.
I’ve had the coffee before and it’s good. This time I decided the pastry. Was tossing up between the Simpson lookalike donuts or one of those delicious looking pastry and ended up getting the chocolate croissant… It was good. But I’m not sure whether it was a whole $5 worth of goodness. Pastry was really flaky and oily. Good amount of chocolate. Perhaps I’ll try one of those cheesy baguettes next time…
The Best Coffee On St Kilda Road
Bench is one of those good Coffee shops hard to find and easy to return too, I am lucky enough to have it right next to my work place, i pop in most mornings for a Flat White and its just perfect smooth but strong. They also so a range of Pastries and on the Final day of the work week Friday we have an awesome selection of Doughnuts to choose from. They also for lunch time make a great selection of baguettes which are supper filling and leave you wanting to try the rest.
The Team are awesome and they all kn ow my by my Name which is great for the personal Touch, Knowing my order is even better.
My Only negative is the Price has just gone up to $4.50 from $4 for a coffee so its makes them the priciest in the area but its good coffee so it all balances out i guess.
Killer coffee, great interior, friendly and quick and the only coffee menu you'll ever need. They also sell a cool selection of juices and cold drinks. 🚶🏽

Nice little spot to hang out and have a good coffee. I like it. Quirky little place. Wouldn't necessarily come for food, though. Emphasis on coffee +/- a pastry or something to accompany your coffee.
Have tried the Japanese Croissant here for the first time and it was such an interesting variation to all croissants I have had before. Great coffee and the boys are always welcoming and friendly.
Beautifully friendly and warm staff, equally as smooth and enjoyable coffee, unique space and a very intriguing and temping array of merchandise such as their house made bottled iced coffee. I utterly fell in love with the peanut brownie ball that I had and not only is the coffee amazing but the lemongrass and ginger tea is also a knockout!
They stock some of my favourite sustainable coffee/homewear nick-nacks and this is spot where I bought my Frank Green reusable coffee cup!
Much like the donut craze, the foodie world’s obsession with all things croissants (think cruffins and cronuts) has really taken off. After weeks of some major cravings, no thanks to the plethora of croissant-related photos on social media, I finally got a fix in the form of Slater St Bench’s Instagram-famous crayfish croissant…
Delicious, unique & friendly. The Bench primarily serves the best coffee in the area to busy business folk working nearby. But it is also a must visit for anyone wanting to try some of the best coffee in Melbourne and see a unique cafe space. Unlike a lot of other Melbourne cafe's that do great coffee, this place is friendly, encouraged by the unique intimate space where you sit or stand at the same bench the barista's work at.
As a local I get to enjoy their wonderful coffee regularly (I also love Clement in Sth Melbourne). Staff are really friendly, just wish you were open on a weekend:(
It’s small but it’s lovely. I love the concept of having the bench in the middle, ensuring the space is devoid of a staff/customer barrier. Although I had no idea where to stand and place my order until one of the friendly staff came up to me, asking me how my day was.

What did I just stumble across?. I have 1 big problem with this place, its not open on the weekend! Amazing coffee, dessert and sandwich! Keep it up, don't change a thing (except maybe opening on weekends)
Doing all things right!. Fantastic guys that are super friendly and know their stuff! Citrus filter coffee that is delicious, and the Ruben is a must have. Can't praise enough! See you tomorrow morning.

Yum soy latte!. Bonsoy, check! These guys know how to make soy latte, the milk was so creamy, I took the lid off and almost licked it out once I finished my drink! I'm not a caffeine addict so I only drink coffee if it's good, but this coffee I can get addicted to!
A little bit of melbourne cafe culture FINALLY reaches st kilda rd!. Can always rely on an amazing coffee from these very talented boys. Nowhere else like this around in the area, I always make sure to pop in when I am in the area and I can never say no to one of their delicious pastries! yummm!

Opening up on the corner of St. Kilda Rd and Slater Street, it’s a coffee stop for businessman taking a break from doing business. Directly opposite and in fact everywhere around are rows and rows of offices, and just behind on Slater Street there is a park. So if you were a businessman that went for walks and coffee then it just keeps getting better.
