Review Think Asia - Melbourne

Stephan Klatt
I guess this restaurant recently opened, as I haven't seen it before. You can have Malaysian and Thai food here and also Sushi, so it's generally Asian mixed cuisine. You can choose from readily prepared food to freshly made dishes. I got a chicken teriyaki. The taste was Ok, but could be more rich in flavours. Also, the chicken was too dry. For their service I give 5 stars. Friendly staff and quick service. However, for the food (based on 1 dish so far), I can only give 3 stars. The price is ok. Overall, its a 3.5 for me. I will come back and try other dishes and will adapt my review when necessary.

Asian fast food, in a clean nice setting. Lots of single use plastic.

The sushi and spring rolls here are OK, but the Banh Mi's are atrocious. They advertise as authentic asian food so I decided to order a Banh Mi as I thought surely no one can mess up a Banh Mi, boy was I wrong. I ordered the barbecue lemongrass chicken which was a tad dry but well seasoned, the bread was nice and crusty but someone must have seriously been wacked out when they thought of the fillings. Instead of the lovely whipped soft butter traditional vietnamese bakeries use, this was cold, hard, and was smeared on so thickly the vegetables were practically embedded in it. Biting in and chewing was the most disgusting texture I have ever eaten. The coriander wasn't destemmed and as such I was pulling out bundles and bundles of it. Not to mention the lack of any traditional Banh Mi's sauces, or fried shallots. I also asked for no chilli and found copious amounts of fresh chilli inside. I would rather pay the $8.80 it cost for someone to literally feed me mush via a feeding tube - at least that way I won't have the taste in my mouth all afternoon. Did not even finished a quarter of it and had to throw it out. Most disappointing dining experience of my life. Even though the other food is decent, I will never come here again.

One star for changing! Used to be there many times for their good pho, everyone is friendly and helpful. But after two months leaving, people changed, food changed, price changed. I order the pho to take away which provide for eat-in, and after changing, the big piece of lemon is under the pho!? And only four pieces of beef ball(half) in total! So disappointing...

Was good been there few times for lunch but I think they changed the management recently. Expensive of foods, the shushi and paper rolls were really ugly not attractive, and staff only gave me two porks in my meal !So disappointed ...out of my lists now

Lemongrass chicken salad was old, no lemongrass & tasteless. They refused to give me a glass of water. Would not recommend.

My wife and I called in for an early dinner. Sorry we did both our meals were very dry. We think the food was left overs from lunch. Won't be going again.

As a patient in Peter Mac, this restaurant is game changer. And they can make bespoke vegan options.

Love the Nasi Lemak with Crispy Fried Chicken. Decent portions and great flavours.

Veg sushi rolls are always only 80% full - the last inch is generally just rice. When it's $3.20 for each mediocre sushi roll, it's a bit of a disappointment to not even get a full roll. Staff are generally nice.

Review based solely on food. Service was ok.

Shrimp rice paper roll 1/5 - unfortunately I was not impressed with any aspect of this roll. Rather bland in flavour, but other than that, the rice paper was really flimsy and every bite I took the filling inside would come out. Shrimp was also thin and lacked flavour, alongside the veg inside. Everything was rather soft and definitely needed the sauce that came with it. Additionally i think something in the roll was off as there was a rancid taste to it but I couldnt depict what it was.

Perhaps the other hot meals would be better but based just solely on the roll, it was not enjoyable.

Ordered the Chicken which moist and melt in your mouth but the tomato rice tasted a bit burnt. It was Ok for a Friday treat lunch on my day off.

Friendly staff but the food was too oily for me. I ordered the mapo tofu with noodle. The taste wasn’t authentic enough I would say. I might try other menu that doesn’t look too oily

Very disappointing. When I first started coming here about 6 months ago the food was good and the servings were good value for money. They have recently changed the serves and they are about half the size they were 6 months ago. It is no longer good value for money and a very small serve for not very cheap. The quality of the food is just OK. Pitty

My pick are again the noodles. Can't have enough of them. The second pick is the honey crispy chicken, cant have enough of that either. The rice are a bit bland but only for me, otherwise they are not bad. The view of their menu looks just irresistible. And the prices are not high at all. A large platter enough for a meal for one person is about AUD 11.5. and it's worth it. You get an option of combining noodles or rice with any two gravies. My advice is don't share as you will regret haha.

Walking into Think Asia reminded me of my university days, and the quick joints in Chinatown!
Approximately 20 seats inside, but a rapid turnover during lunch.
Options : sushi and sashimi, rolls, vermicelli noodles, a banh mi counter, hot food on display (approx $11.90 for rice or noodles with 2 dishes) and order food off a menu if you’re keen on things like Hor Fun, Wantan Noodle Soup etc.
counter service, grab a number and grab a seat.
Complimentary hot tea.

The food was average. The Ipoh combination noodles, while being a large portion, lacked flavour.
The rice+dishes : pork and tofu was flavourful, but the red curry was diluted down.

Overall good for quick Asian in the area.

Standard Asian takeaway that does quick lunch service.
Have been satisfied with the items here. Okay, not necessarily amazing but good price for lunch.
At the end of the day they have pre packed stuff reduced which works well for a cheap dinner.

This Asian chain restaurant is not bad when wanting a quick lunch if you're in the area. The sushi is standard, the yum cha can be overcooked but can't complain where there is no competition nearby and you're desperate for some har gao. The rice paper rolls and banh mi are not great but again, there isn't any other Vietnamese nearby and it's fine if you're in the mood for Viet. Probably my fav dish of theirs is the char keow teow which is quite tasty. The staff are friendly.

Generic chain Asian takeaway joint that does bits and bobs from all over that great continent, but none of it particularly well.

Food is pre-made - including the bahn mi, and while not the worst I've ever eaten are overly soggy and buffed out with damp iceberg lettuce and dry pork which you should probably give a miss to. Steamed pork dumplings are somewhat better, but at 2.5

A bain marie full of pre-made dishes offers a lot of variety, but I cannot attest to its quality.

Not recommended.

Not a bad place for a quick bite to eat for lunch. Meals are fresh and the servings are generous for the price. One of the better take away options in the area

Good selection of sushi, rice paper rolls, stir fry dishes, noodle soup and dumplings. They even have banh mi! Reasonably priced for the location and very friendly staff. I had an assorted nigiri pack with 4 x salmon, 2 x tuna and 2 x prawn for about $8.90. Tasty! Will be back for lunch soon!
