Review Ohgam - Melbourne

Small little restaurant with excellent service. The food variety was good with plenty of meat choices. I was there for lunch on a weekday and had eat all you can for just $19.90 for 45 minutes. Value for money. However, there is no exhaust/ suction hood in the restaurant.

Nice little place. Don't blink otherwise you'll miss it. Friendly owner/ staff. I think it's on the pricier side for what you get but it's nice food. Not sure what the dressing is on the salad but loved it

Great quality beef for only $35 each. Surprised me first time when I went there. Then I bring friends there week after. I want eat there every day if I live around. 😍

Quaint little eatery. Blink and you’ll miss it! Unpretentious and fuss-free Korean bbq. Really great price for the food selections! Good range of cooked food and course fresh meats and vegetables. And absolutely love love love their premium cuts of pork jowl and kimchi! Had Korean bbq at few others elsewhere but this is tops! Especially great for supper time. Service was awesome too, they change your tray cover promptly when it’s browned. And kudos to Yashas’ most amazing service! He’s a champion!

This is absolutely disappointing for the price you pay for and makes me curious about how they maintained the rating. The ingredients quality was below average (chewy meat cuts, limited options, cheap veggies). More importantly the BBQ was just a portable gas with a frying pan on top which was covered by a baking paper and the customers are given a small plastic mug as a drain for the oil. There is also a lack of smoke suction in the restaurant (unlike many Korean places that have a ventilation hood over the grill) Giving 1-star just because of the tap water.

Good meat. Unfortunately they don't have anything that is canola oil free with the cooking pans. I took the risk and enjoyed my dinner because it has a paper cover anyway. But I hope you will ready something that is canola oil free pans

Absolutely delicious and is underrated for the price and the amount of unlimited food you get. Staff may seem rude at times but they mean well and it’s mostly a self serve restaurant! Quality is what you pay for :) so although delicious, it’s not the top tier of all you can eat kbbqs!

Great little Korean BBQ place. The chicken wings are phenomenal! Really fun to sit there and cook your own food and have a Korean beer! I would recommend trying every dish even the soup and the kimchi if you never have before. All great dishes and the service was easy and nice too.

$35 all you can eat kbbq is definitely an inexpensive and amazing price for a kbbq feed.

Ordered the marinated chicken, pork and beef + their special meat of the day along with a serving of fried chicken and their salt and pepper sesame oil dipping sauce.

Food had yummy flavours and for $35 pp you definitely get value for your money.

Would I come back?
Yes definitely! Restaurant originally opened til 3am (pre covid) which was perfect if you had a late night craving for kbbq which also adds to the value of eating here.
I Love Food
You can try better korean bbq with lower price. I understand there is time limit but they need get rid of paper on the grill and drop the price down. The paper thing is ridiculous. We were struggle with that paper thing more than we ate. The staff were changing paper at least ten times and It was burning every ten minutes. Side dishes they provide wasn't good either. Ttok bok kki was really hard to chew and bulgogi and spicy pork was bit off. With $35 you can definitely get better experience. It was traumatic experience to be honest. Never again.

All you can eat kbbq for $25pp? A deal that is imple irresistible to all kbbq lovers!

I came here with some friends and we smashed out perhaps one of each item available. It is a self serve set up, offering delicious Korean options including your favourite kbbq meats, fried chicken, kimchi, condiments and salads. Whilst quality isn't exactly Wagyu A9 or Kobe beef, for the price you pay, you certainly eat your moneys worth and leave feeling very satisfied with the overall good flavours and options.

Good Korean buffet, recommend trying it out and so close to the CBD too!

Food: 3.5/5
Service: 4/5
Ambience: 4/5
Value: 4/5

Overall: 3.75/5

I wish there is minus stars to rate. If you want try decent BBQ, don't go here. They put paper on the grill. Guess what happen?! The paper was burning and meats were cooked extremely slowly. They were keep changing the paper every now and then. The meats were all destroyed while they were changing. We had half meats and half seafood on the grill, seafood was under cook but they were all mixed because of the paper changing. We were not sure if we are ok to eat meat next raw seafood. The staff told us after that we will get fine if we don't finish all. lol It is $35pp in 1.5hrs. There are many places in Melbourne for awesome korean bbq with that price without time cosumming . Even I don't mind to pay more to not ruin my meal. I couldn't order side menus because of all of the stupid system. Oh! one more thing. They put dirty bucket over the food to changing the paper..and spray canola oil to burner..we were so scared if the flame comes to us....no health and safety???

I have made a booking for 10 people under my name for 5.30 on the Friday 13th December. Just making it on time for happy hour which is at a discounted prices of $25pp. I knew i wouldnt be able to make it on time, so I had a colleague go in early to start us off. Myself and another friend got the there late about 5.35, at first they were like, and i quote "is it okay if you finish same time as everyone else?" And I said it is fine to do that. Not long after they approach me again and said "sorry, but it will be $35 pp because you were late". I was a little fustrated at that point while also a little hangry. Where is the hospitality at? Then i begin to wonder, if its also the fact that i had supposedly a lot of people with me? They change the full price to gain the extra money? That is so wrong in many ways, if that is the case.
I couldnt contact the friend that was supposed to come early but when I finally could she told me she came early but they said to her that there was no booking under my name. So in fact it was a fault of theirs which got us into trouble.
After the fustrating moments of annoyance, with my other friends, they had a trainee change the parchment paper on our grill, taking their sweet time while wasting our time of 1.5hrs - 2x in a row. Another time was when we needed our gas can changed on our portable stove. So it was changed and when I decided to put the can on lock the waiter was like, wait not yet let the gas flow. Not only do I personally own one, Ihave been at this restaurant 4x now and today being the 5x, I know how a portable stove works. This is not good, making ways to waste a customer's time.

I've been here on multiple occasions, also bring other people here. This is the first time i felt so bad after a meal like this having a gathering of friends. They are going to loose me as a regular customer due to their greed and I dont appreciate it at all.

If they keep doing this to customers i dont recommend to come here at all.

Negativity aside, there is a good food selection with the all you can eat menu!

The food was really nice, with a range of different types of meat to cook, and also a good selections of sides and hot dishes (including really good kimchi, bolgogi, and japchae).

It was mostly great in terms of being young child friendly - high chair provided, and lots of good options for children (including plenty of non spicy options). For my daughter it was free (I think it is free for anyone up to 4 years old). Our daughter clearly loved the food! Many of the staff were friendly and even waved and smiled at our little one.

One area where they could improve on toddler friendlyness would be acceptance of the fact that some food is unavoidably going to end up on the floor and be wasted. This is especially true as the high-chairs don't fit under the tables, and they don't supply the tray part. Our daughter was doing a good job of eating food in the circumstances, but toddlers being toddlers, was accidentally dropping a small amount despite doing her best. One of the staff came by and he pointed to the floor and quite abruptly said something like "Look after your baby", which I found quite rude as I was sitting right next to her and we were all doing our best already.

Went there twice. Satisfied with the price, service and the meat. Thin sliced pork belly highly recommended. Fried chicken is amazing.

I always love a good all you can eat Korean BBQ and this place is definitely a good spot. Not only do you get the meats to cook, but you get all the other great korean dishes to eat as well. This includes, japchae, spicy rice cakes, spicy pork, bulgogi and kimchi fried rice etc... Was great to snack on them while waiting for the meat to cook. Overall, the atmosphere was great and the service was good too. Don't know why some people say it's not the best place for BBQ. Yes, it's not over a charcoal etc, but it still is Korean BBQ and the food was delicious. People need to stop complaining also about the meat not being the best of quality. You are at an all you can eat at a bargain price, so of course the meats are not going to be the best out there, but it is still really tasty! Definitely going back there again!

Rating 3.5/5
Service ★★
Food ★★★
Ambience ★★★

A place where you cook the meats yourself.

We have been here twice so far as we love their pork belly.

Not the best place for bbq but for the price, we are keen to come back.

Nice environment, very busy. Service is great, explained the AYCE process, time limit and wastage information clearly. Waitress changed our paper promptly. Food is delicious, many cuts of meat and the happy hour price is really worth it.

The food is decent but the service is really bad. They need to train their staff well. When they were changing the paper for the grill, the hot oil sparked to my face but they didn’t seem to care, not even saying sorry. Everytime we called them, they saw me but they just walked away pretending they didnt notice. Worst experience ever!!

Coming to this place again, it’s really worth the price per person. Yummy food. So if you’re craving for korean bbq come to this place it’s very nice. Friendly staffs too :) Definitely coming back and recommend this place.

Came here with family to try out AYCE. Was told there was a very strict time limit- which they stuck to. They turned off the power and pretty much asked us to leave on the dot. Service was otherwise OK. Paper was not changed until we were close to finishing. OK selection of food but smoky in doors.

Food: 3/5
Service: 3/5
Ambiance: 3/5

First, I had problem booking the table. The shop opened at 5pm and I called at 5pm sharp and was told it was full and don't accept walk-ins. I questioned them when should I book if they opened at 5pm and they were fully booked by then. The female staff just said yes. It was clear to me that she could not understand what I was saying. I asked her to connect me to an english speaking staff and was finally able to get a table. When I came to the shop, there was 2 tables (one 4 seat and one 6 seat table that was empty). That remained empty until we almost finished our food, so I don't understand what they meant by 'fully booked' and 'no walk-ins'. Maybe someone made the reservation but did not turn up? I'm not sure but there was no reservation sign on the table.

Overall, the experience was not too bad. Although it didn't start on a good note, but it ended well enough for us. The quality of the meat, while not fantastic, was decent enough considering it was $25 for an ayce. The dishes available like toppokki and japchae was mediocre so don't bother trying. Stick to the meat. I loved the pork belly and the prawns.

Advice if you want to visit: book a few days in advance as them being fully booked the moment they open must have meant that you have to book a few days in advance. If possible, find a korean speaking friend as most of the staff don't speak english. Or else, ask for them to pass the phone to someone who actually speaks english. The male staff (cashier?) was quite friendly and was able to converse properly in english so I think he could help if communication becomes an issue.

The place is nice and easy to find. They have japchae, kimchi fried rice, sukiyaki, and salad that ready to eat. They don’t have much choices for the bbq, it’s only 2 or 3 marinated meat, and the rest are not marinated yet. But they offered a prawn and black angus as well, which is very worth for $25 buffet. 3.5 out of 5.

Came here dinner with friend.
We tried the kimchi fried rice was abit too garlicky.
The spicy bulgogi was tasty.
The service was not too bad also.
Would not come back

It's a small selection of meats, but I would say it's entirely worth it considering it's only ~$35pp. You cook the meats yourself and the staff is very attentive in changing the cooking paper for us without being asked.

My friend and I have been here twice in 2 weeks, as we cannot get enough of the pork cheek and pork belly they have here! The meat is best eaten wrapped in the pickled radish and herb leaf they provide in the vege/salad area.

For a $35 all you can eat place, obviously you are definitely not coming here for high quality foods, but lets just say I have never left this place disappointed and am always keen to go back.
We're always had friendly service here as well which is always a bonus!
Johnny
Very friendly staff and I enjoyed the range of food that was available. The only problem I had was that the pork was a bit overpowering with soy sauce. Apart from that it was a very enjoyable experience.
Real Food
Dear owner,

Bad food, rude customer service. It’s the buffet place but nothing to eat without pork and chicken. (We went there at 11pm but been told that no more prawns with grumpy face) The staff never make their smile or even friendly. It seems like all staff there didn’t want to work that much then tried to close as early as they can.

We asked to continue the time as we’ve been there for a big group and happy to pay more, they said that “no! you can’t” what a confusing as last time we’ve been there and been asked to pay for continuing if we want, so everything looks like they really wanted us to leave even we didn’t do anything drama at all time we ate there. (We also noted that they will close at 2am but we’ve been asked to be finished at 12.30am)

Even our friend just only come in to say hi and sit in the middle of us to talk with no eating, they that ‘they can’t sit here’ what? Once we left the place, we saw they looks very happy and make big laugh. We’ve tried to get our full patient but we think this is too much.

It’s fine if you want to work with that bad yourself. Nothing surprise if that place will be empty in the future. You already lost your customer, we paid for over $500 - $600 for 2 times visit but not anymore and will never get back again.

Spent $30 pp here for a 1.5hrs. Good service. Obviously not the best meat as it is all frozen and the other dishes are average. All of the pork cuts were quite bland, even dipping it in sauce didn't help. The beef short ribs were the best though, while the other cuts were average. Go for the cheap eat and eat until you hate yourself. I wouldn't go again but it's good fun with friends who just like to eat something.

When you arrive the first thing they ask you is how long would you like to eat for. The options were 60, 90 or 120 mins. We decided to go with 90 minutes because it was our first visit and we had no idea how long we were going to take. Personally, I would have liked it if they just timed us from the moment we started cooking to the point where we wanted to pay. Because at the 50 minute mark, we got quite full and wanted to call it quits just before the 1 hour mark, but since the docket they printed out said we had 90 mins, we tried to stuff our face for the full 90 mins.
Food options, there was a few hot/cooked dishes ranging from japchae to tteokbokki. They had a few condiments for you to choose from. The raw meats section ranged from marinaded to plain meats. I wasn’t a fan of the marinade - i found it to have a strong and overpowering ginger taste to it but the plain meats were soo good! But they were on the fatty side though. My fave was the pork cheek! I sprinkled a bit of salt & pepper on the meat before BBQ-ing it and it made it 10x better! The beef brisket was frozen and it was really hard to separate each slice. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at OhGam. Will definitely be back!

Came here late night and spend $25 each for buffet.
Their buffet is pretty decent! They also had some sides such as
bulgogi and spicy bulgogi: 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Kimchi fried rice: 👌🏻👌🏻 a bit garlicky
Tteokbokki: 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Japchae: 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Potato salad: with corn, sultana, potato, egg and apple. Sounds quite weird yet taste ok. 👌🏻👌🏻
Sort of okonomiyaki: either that pancake. Nice
Soup! Kimchi soup(?): i didnt try

They have various of beef and pork and chicken meat options as well as seafood such as shrimp and baby octopus!

+ sauces + lettuce + kimchi + garlic + onion + mushroom + and other sides

**update**
They have $16.99 buffet and add $3 for bbq during lunch! And its really worth it! However i think the meat options not as much as dinner!
