This place is such a hidden gem!! It's a small cosy restaurant on Lonsdale Street, look out for the white Jang Go Mama sign. I've eaten a few times here, and the food is always so yummy, and generous portions. I've tried the bulgogi and spicy galbi, they're so good! They also have lots of delicacies on their menu, I'll be back to try them. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and will chat with you when it's less busy. I love the overall homely vibe.

What captured my attention and made me want to dine here? The lovely setup of the small restaurant really stood out like being at home and cosy. The service was also very warm and welcoming as well
The food was also really nice, we opted for the japchae, beef Galbi and kimbap which were all delicious and authentic. There are so many other items on the menu which look delicious and make me so hungry as I write this up. Reasonably priced, similar to what you would find at other restaurants.
Thank goodness we went in, I think I have found myself a regular eating spot in the city. Definitely recommend!

Walked pass this place and it looked very authentic ! It seems to be a mom and daughter who operate this place. We tried their beef kimbab. It was spicy , delicious and authentic exactly like what we had in korea!

Really nice home made style Korean food. Always my first choice when I'm craving for Korean food.
Overall good!! Staffs are always friendly. Food is like Korean home-cook like mummy food. It taste little different with other restaurants which run by only younger aged people.
The chicken bibimbap was very nice, and the service was fast and friendly. The interior was very cosy and warm, perfect for a cold day in winter.

The best authentic Korean food ever! This place does not use any MSG and use all natural ingredient! The taste is awesome! I can absolutely recommend this place!
Been here with my partner and we really liked everything they served from the appetizers to the main meal.
They served us with a vegetable salad with a delicious sauce and fried silken tofu (best silken tofu I have ever had).
We also ordered fried chicken with cheese (cheese was torched - and it. was. awesome.) as well as seafood and squid noodle (like japchae). None of our food was overly cooked - every flavour was equally distributed to the dish and matched our craving tastebuds.
We will definitely come back to taste more of their dish. ❤️
Omg!!! I cannot say enough how much I love this place. It’s such a simple hole in the wall restaurant yet so charming. The menu is extensive and at first I was a little sceptical but everything is amazing quality. I’ve only been there a handful of times, but both the waitress AND the older lady working in the kitchen recognise me and always say hello. Easily my fave place in Melbourne.

Was told that this restaurant, the owner was an ex-royal family chef. Had a give it a try! Ordered the black sesame salad (amazing sauce, a must try!!) the seaweed japchae noodle springroll (very delicious), the seafood pancake (not oily, not salty though, so not bad but i would prefer it a little salt) and bulbogi soup (amazingly delicious but a litte salty, goes so well with rice). Will definitely make a return soon for their ‘KFC’! Go on a weekday night, after 7pm, where you can have the whole restaurant by yourself!! Other times were jam-packed! I would rate it 4.5 star but the new app couldn’t let me. 0.5 star off by the salad portion, small for its price given.
Small place but filled with a variety of your home cooked Korean meals. Good quality and tasty food. I’d try all their stuff sooner or later.

Charming little restaurant that only fits about 12 people that I've frequent quite a bit which reminds me of an suburban family owned restaurant. Honestly very homely style of cooking that can take a bit of time depending on how many takeaway orders that they have. Fried chick is not the greatest but their Gimbap and jjamppong is amazing. The lady chef is lovely and always welcoming. A touch pricey.
So once again I was drawn into another fried chicken picture on a window. Read the reviews here and thought, why not. Glad I did. Had the Korean fried chicken with chilly sauce. Brilliant. Nice amount of heat. Price was about what you expect. Very friendly staff. Lots of choice.
You'd easily walk past this place without giving it a second look (I have and regret it ) it is the bomb! The seafood pancake is the best I've had, the korean dumplings are huge and delicious and they do some great side dishes. A word of warning on the chicken, they dont hold back on the heat! We ordered level 2, against the advice of our waitress, because we can handle our chilli...wrong! Even though it was searingly hot it was so good. Will be back next time I'm in town
I rarely leave reviews but thought this place deserved a mention. I occasionally come here for lunch, the staff are always friendly, nice decor / cozy place to sit and the food is excellent. My recommendations would be Tofu Bibimbap, Kimchi soup or Pork Katsu Don.

Jang go mama is a small and cute Korean restaurant that recently opened on Lonsdale street. It resembles a small and cosy cafe more than a Korean eatery due to the bright colours and decor and would find it hard to seat over 15 people. When we ducked in here on a cold night to have a quick bite to eat as well as to avoid the rain, the Korean home style dishes they served left us nice and warm.

This place is a little gem hidden in the middle of big restaurant.
It is a small restaurant that recently opened 2 months ago and probably only have around 15 seats max.
We were told that the dishes do not consist any MSG trace and it is true.
The whole experience was great.
We had the smoked duck and salmon sashimi salad to start with, the smoked duck salad is surprisingly very refreshing and had this warm flavour from the sauce and the meat, while the salmon sashimi salad is a bit too spicy to my liking even though they had some oranges that comes with it, korean red pepper is indeed too much for me to handle.
The next dishes came were the jamppong, kimchi fried rice with cream prawn, LA galbi and soft shell crab curry.
The jamppong was huge in portion and it does not taste too spicy surprisingly, but tastes more like seafood jigae (yum), the kimchi fried rice is my favourite out of all the dishes, the creaminess and the dryness just marries so well together ( yummmmmmmmzzzzzz ) lol.
LA galbi is a little too sweet to my liking and the curry soft shell crab is average but the fried soft shell crab, damn, one of the best i had so far, the crisp is just to the perfection.

Daebak!! Best restaurant ever!! Not only the food is amazing (you can feel they have put so much love into it) and customer service is gold medal.
Me and my wife love to take away food from here. And today when I picked up the order with my bike, which i shouldn't have done that since my wife ordered seafood spicy soup.
The restaurant owner went above and beyond to wrap the take away container with multiple layer of cling wrap to prevent leaking. And the other staff member stood outside to watch my bike as there was no frame to lock.

Very small restaurant with only 6 tables. Lots of items in menu and the food is very good and tasty. However, i put only 4 stars coz I found it's a bit expensive for the experience. It's the price I would pay for a nice restaurant with comfortable tables, nicely decorated . U come here just for the food but not compatible for a romantic or long meal as the restaurant is small and basic.
Great food for a small hole-in-the-wall eatery and can't wait to come again. We had the seafood chijimi and beef bulgoggi, and the complimentary fried tofu was absolutely delicious.
I found your store while searching Google. The back door was strange, but it was easy to find through the front door and the owner greeted me very kindly. The food was truly admirable and I was so satisfied that I missed Korea. Your warm heart will forever be remembered. I will.

A lovely family run restaurant that produces comforting Korean food. We ordered takeaway twice and the food was freshly made. We got for kimbap and bibimbap and both were delicious.
My girlfriend introduced me to this hidden gem! It is a small shop with roughly 4 tables inside but they offer outside seating too. The food was so amazing, it makes you feel so happy and satisfied after. It was so authentic it really feels like your grandma's cooking. The owners were so friendly and very attentive - excellent service. We had the ham and cheese kimbap (you can tell it was made with love) and the budae soup. The side dishes were also very tasty! And the ddeokbokgi is also very noteworthy. Can't wait to come back here and try more things on the menu.
