As a Bangladeshi, I love eating south asian cuisine from Pakistan and India.
This kebab place has some of the best platter and quality.
The cheese oozes our and the naan is so soft and buttery.
The friendly staff is always helpful and the price is not an issue either.
Definitely will visit after covid ends💕 really nice atmosphere and cozy

Heard about this place from my Pakistani friend - apparently well-known within the Pakistani community. Got Platter 3 that came with heaps of chicken tikka, botis, and kebabs. All flavorful and enticing! Also tried Chicken Makhni Handi which was creamy and tasted healthy!
Literally the best Kebabs you will ever have!
Amazing atmosphere, good customer service and finger licking tasty food😋😋😋 always satisfied
Amazing food, mouth watering & melting in mouth .
Mind it book it before you go as always jam pack
Remind me of Delhi kebab & tikka & never disappoints
Best place to Kabaabs!!The platter is a must have. It is more than food, it is an authentic experience.
Been longing for authentic Mughal/Indian non vegetarian cuisine in Melbourne since I moved here 3 years ago, And Khabbay has ended that search. Great food and meat done exactly the way it's done at home! Super.
Great flavour. Kebab, malai Boti amd chicken tikka we’re delicious. Naan very soft and amazing.
If you are a kebab lover and love everything cooked in the 'Tandoori' - roasted in charcoal clay oven, then look no further. We had a fantastic meal on Sunday night with family and it was a winner. The kids had butter chicken but they loved the chicken tikka biryani and the grown ups loved chowing down beautifully cooked, succulent kebabs with naan bread. Recommended Kastoori kebab, Biryani, chicken and lamb seekh kebabs.
You know the food is going to be good when you get tantalising aroma as you approach the restaurant. This place is going to be on my list for good. We ordered: Grilled fish: 4/5 little under seasoned
Lamb kabab: 5/5 Juicy and delicious
Mutton Karahi: 4/5
Butter Nan and Sesame Kulcha were soft and oozing with butter. Ambiance is pretty basic and a bit cluttered. Gets busy after 8pm. Get in early to avoid waiting. Overall satisfied. Will go in for some more kababs.
Was suggested this place as a must try for biryani. We ordered the kebab, biryani and fish. Fish was definitely the stand out dish for us..served whole and so well marinated. I think we will go back just for that!
After years looking for proper north indian style seekh kebabs in and around Melbourne (not turkish or lebanese kebabs), we found Khabbay and cannot recommend it high enough. The kebabs are juicy and tender. Even the grilled fish is amazing. Must visit for anyone looking for seekh kebabs
I'd never give a 5 star to any resto unless it was just perfect in ambience, food, service, location, comfort and last but least attitude. And I gave em. Says it all. :)
An authentic desi Pakistani Indian restaurant. Would recommend to meat and fish lover. Has less variety of veg options but a good tasteful restaurant. We went in for a team dinner and staff was very courteous to accommodate our last minute requests and make us tea even though it was removed from menu. Take tram 96 today.
The most delicious BBQ place I have been to. We got Platter 1 and each item was perfection. The meat was tender, juicy and full of flavour. The place itself was packed but the owner nicely accommodated us. This restaurant is definitely the best Pakistani restaurant I have been to till date, do try it if passing by as you won't be disappointed.
Local hidden gem!
• Pakistani Grilled Charcoal Fish - highly recommend
• Khabbay's Special Platter - one of the better Indian meat platters
• Mutton Karahi - too good. The sauce was even better.
• Lahori Channe - something different. Chickpea curry which was really good too
• Garlic Naan and Butter Naan was good too
Amazing chicken biryani and kebabs. Loved it. Will definitely try all other kebabs too. Wait was too long as it was Friday evening but worth the wait.
Enjoyed my meal here so much! Delicious rich flavors, perfectly grilled meat, huge servings, very satisfying meal. Will be back many times I’m sure!
This little known joint has blown our minds away. The food was so good that we forgot about photos
We were 9 of us so that really helped experiencing a wide range of things. Here's the breakdown
Ambience: 3/5Â
Won't matter much once the food starts coming in
Service: 5/5
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and would take an effort to make sure we're happy
Food: 4.5/5
Must try: Kebab Platter. Naan, Nihari, Gajar Halwa
We also tried Chicken Achari which wasn't one of the best performers of the group
All in all, Khabbay is a must-try for any foodie out there. Thanks for a great dinner, team and hope you guys go on to do really well :)
This hidden gem appears to be only well known by the pakistani community. Why it is not more well known beats me. Located on the corner of newry and rathdowne streets, the delicioua smells of the tandoor or grill or bbq can be experienced from a few metres away. A small cozy establishment with quick friendly service. Though they serve the usual north indian fare like paneer and dhaal, they are known for their charcoal grilled meat. My pakistani friend, having been here multiple times, zoned into the meat platter for two and their grilled barramundi fish.
The food is served with bowls of yoghurt and delicious sweet, spicy and citrusy chutney.
Meat is tender, fresh and well flavoured. The two pakistani girls i was dining with couldn't stop gushing about the freshness of the meat as i drank copious amounts of water.
If you suffer from heartburn like me, this may not be the place for you as almost everything was very spicy except the grilled chicken. Perhaps you can ask for a milder option.
Reasonable portion sizes for the price.
Authentic pakistani taste, which is almost rare. Great service. Callouts: seekh kababs, malai boti and chicken tikkas. Naans were delicious too. Will be back soon!
Walked past and saw how popular it was so wanted to give it a try. So delicious, reasonably priced and very authentic- great tandoori chicken, naan and biryani. Service was friendly. Will definitely be back!
We, in Pakistan, use Khabbay word for food, especially in large amount. It's kinda slang though. We heard about this restaurant through friends but couldn't visit them as they are a bit far from Eastern suburbs. Today, we were in CBD; therefore, called them and reserved a table for 3 (Myself, wife, son and a baby boy).
It took literally 10-12 mins from Federation Square on the car. It was Saturday around 5.30pm; there were many free parking spots right in front of it.
It's a small restaurant that looks more cafe to me. Interior and exterior were very ordinary though. I think they have a seating arrangement of fewer than 50 people but maybe I am wrong.Â
We got a warm welcome with a smile which is always very important for me :) We have noticed that there were more chicken dishes than lamb or beef. Anyway, we order one of their BBQ platters that served 2 chicken kebab, 2 lamb kebab, 5 chicken tikka boti and 5 malai boti. In my view, it was very generous serving for $25. We also ordered Chicken Hara Masala with plain rice for our 11 yrs old son. He got the braces a few hours ago; therefore, we wanted something soft and less spicy. And yes we also ordered 3 plain rotis as well.
The order was served pretty quick and everything was enticing and appetizing. The first time in Melbourne, I have seen the authentic Pakistani tandoori (oven) roti that we call it "Pateeri roti". It was fresh, hot, and crispy. If the roti is served hot and fresh with Pakistani food, 50% job is done :)
BBQ was scrumptious and truly cooked on charcoal. Chicken Hara Masala was also delightful and delectable. They also served mint raita as well with the platter that assisted the bbq well.Â
We didn't try any of their desserts or any other item especially fish because we want to visit them again for sure. I assure you that their prices are very affordable where they are located.
I had a brief chat with one of the owners and appreciated the whole experience. I told him that keep it up with your rotis mate because it's a key to your menu. We also discussed the interior and exterior of the restaurant. Interestingly, he told me that why they are not doing catering and Uber at the moment because they believe once their food gets cold, it won't taste the same which I 100% agree.
So, we came out satisfied and they have certainly made our day. I wish them good luck and highly recommend, foodies should try them.
