The fried sticks were so delicious. Grilled were also excellent but the crispness of the fried with the spice coating just *chefs kiss*. Flavourful and cooked perfectly. We had the squid, prawn and cuttlefish ball.
I didnt get his name but i think he is the supervisor! He was very friendly and super accomodating. We will be back

What you should order: grilled pork belly, fried tofu

Review: it was one of those days when it was 2pm but my stomach was grumbling. Stumbled upon this place while shopping. The premise of pick a stick is quite simple - you have to pick a minimum of 4 sticks. They have a wide array of meat and non-meat options (vegans rejoice!). I went for the lamb, pork, quail egg and tofu.
The tofu was honestly the best - crispy and went well with the seasoning. I wish I added more spice to my lamb and pork - I erred on the conservative side and asked for slight spice. Should have gone for more - it turned out to be not as spicy! Pricing of $16 for 6 sticks was not the cheapest tea time option, but I guess you pay for a novel meal! Limited spaces in store but you can eat at the dining precinct.

My friend invited me to tried this brand new sichuan street food by dainty sichuan. Absolutely enjoyed through you picked whatever you want and they fried and then they grilled it for you. It can be strong flavour but loved it
It such hard to find this little shop hidden away in the melbourne central. But I'm glad that I found it. It's starting to be a trend around melbourne. This is one of those sichuan street food offering grill stick that you can choose from. High recommend those sweet potato absolutely delicious.
very different place,chinese bbq
Situated in the Ella food court and I’ve a lot about them. This is a new Sichuan street food style bbq which I love so much. Highly recommended
Wandered through Melbourne central to find this little strip of eateries and I’m so excited to go back and try them all! This shop was so cute and reminiscent of my times in Hong Kong with street vendors selling skewers on the spot. We ordered the chicken, lamb, pork, squid and fish balls. We tried the non spicy sauce which had sesame seeds and a sweet savoury glaze with a hint of Szechuan pepper. All the skewers were super tasty but the fried fish balls were the BEST! If you love fish balls you have to try these! Will definitely be back! Although I recommend getting beverages elsewhere as I paid $10 for two small bottles of juice.
Went for the chips which were recommended to me, and left satisfied with everything we ordered. Spent $23 for 2 people, which was 3 sticks each and a serving of chips. Skewers were seasoned really well - we got the spicy seasoning and would highly recommend. Best was the shiitake mushroom skewer.
Chips are to die for. Not for people sensitive to spice, but worth the mouth burn. Not much seating, but given in a takeaway bucket so easy to transport.
Not sure about cross-contamination issues for vegetarians/vegans as I could only see one fryer (though cannot confirm this - they may make an exception). No sign of nuts though would need to ask if you have an allergy.
Don't forget napkins!
Loved the sweet potato chips so much! I’m already a fan of sweet potato 🍠🍠🍠, but Pick A Stick gives sweet potato chips a unique twist with a plum seasoning that goes surprisingly well with it. Definitely worth a try!
Pick A Stick in ELLA is my new go-to place to eat! The concept is simple - you choose the sticks you want and pay by the number of sticks you get. They can grill it (recommended) or deep fry it depending on your choice (though grilled one is also first deep-fried). They also have a number of sides to order as well!
We tried a good variety of different skewers - my favourites being the rice cakes, enoki mushroom, gluten, squid chicken wing. The rice cake goes crispy on the outside when grilled and chewy and soft on the inside. The chicken and squid both get a very nice char which I loved!
The marinade is amazing! We got Less Spicy on the first time, but it was very tolerable. If you like spice, I highly suggest getting Spicy!
We also had the Sweet Potato Fries with prune powder and oh my I can’t recommend this enough! It was so so addictive! The prune powder is sweet and sour and reminded me of what I ate as a child. Absolutely loved it!
The Crazy Potato Chips are also a winner. They’re coated in the best kind of chilli oil and spices - and so delicious!
Definitely recommend giving it a go, especially if you love Sichuan spice!
Super good and delicious, crunchy but kinda pricy because they sell fried things including broccoli for 2.8$ but other than the food is flavorful and good

Great choice for snacks time.
Love the crazy chips and the spicy sauce on skewers. Tasty!
I would recommend trying the squid, lamb and cauliflower as they were very flavourful. The sweet potato chips were addictive as well. Overall it was a good place to grab a snack.
❤️ skewers ($2.80ea): chicken, chicken wings; lamb, beef, cheesy rice cakes; sausage
👍 very delicious sauce and seasoning; spicy flavour numbs your tongue; quick and efficient staff; competitive pricing
👎 not a lot of indoor seating (but plenty of seating on the outside)
🕓 low to medium busy between 6-7PM, becoming busy after 7PM. Waiting time for food is about 15 minutes
❗️this is snack food, so don’t be expected I be full, even after 6 skewers (about $20); it is not clear where to line up: you place your order on the far right and you pay at the cash register on the far left
I came across this place which looked exciting! Pick a stick what a great idea. Pick a stick, How you want it cooked and the level of spice. Expect a little bit of a wait but well worth it!
Delicious snack with a difference. Quite spicy and hearty, with a smoky, peppery flavour. Crispness of the fried sticks can be hit or miss, and it'd be great if there wasn't a minimum purchase of 4 sticks so you could just have a quick snack. Otherwise, excited to keep visiting this little joint!
I like this place cuz I love meat skewers !! Even tho the price is $2.80 for one skewer is kindda expensive but its fine compare to other snack stores in the city. I come here once a week.
It's very hard to find this little Chinese street food from Sichuan shop tuck away inside Melbourne central. The decor is very funky and it will definitely attract the younger crowds. And you will go in and start picking the stick that you want, it has a range of veg and meat option and then they will ask whether you want it to grill and/or fried option. I chose both and it tastes really great especially their sauce.

May look daunting at first but their sticks are pleasant surprises. We picked a few different sticks from the display, we went for chicken, beef slices, bean curd and octopus. For the sauce we had the dry chilli powder. It was pretty delicious. A little pricey in my opinion.
