This is the place where I tried my first Bùn Chay and realised that they are my favourite salad ever. Surprisingly filling and fresh, perfect as a sunny day alternative to the very comforting pho.
I’ve been here for several times, quite nice tho, the staff here is friendly, esp there is a girl who is always smiling n super friendly, love her 😂 the food is quite nice, feel fresh, n the space is a bit small

This place is consistently good and never fails to offer fresh meals with a smile from the staff. My favourites are the rice paper rolls but also like the spicy beef noodles.
The Vietnamese coffee was good but recently tried ca phe sua da which comes with a dripper cup with ice. Always enjoy this, especially in the warmer months.
The menu is extensive and has something for everyone. It's also well worth checking out the specials.
Notes: suitable for vegetarians, dietaries catered for, the cafe is wheelchair friendly, kid-friendly, takeaway available and the parking isn't too bad - it is Carlton though. Enjoy!
Great food, would recommend anyone looking for amazing Viet food, cheap and lovely atmosphere. Had great pho and noodles, brought out to the table very quickly so great service.
Saigon Pho on the CBD end of Lygon St where Italian food gives way to a more miscellaneous combination of cuisines- Japanese, Thai, Malaysian and Turkish.
The broken rice combination is done with authenticity and a love of their craft. You know it immediately once there’s egg pâté served that you’re not in a Vietnamese franchise chain- you have the real deal with all its variety on a single platter. The dish comes with shredded pork skin, egg-pork pâté, a perfectly fried egg (without that crispy skin), a marinated piece of pork, some salad, sauce and broken rice.
We ordered the beef Pho which had beef, tendon and lots of fresh herbs. The clear long-simmering broth with the combination of chicken or beef bones (or both!) was aromatic. The addition of fresh herbs made it a delightful experience. The meat was tender and juicy.
Perfect meal for cloudy and rainy Melbourne afternoon. Tried "The Lot" Pho with combination of beef and chicken parts. The broth had a deep flavor. Really aromatic. Beef was tender and juicy. Also tried the chicken ribs on tomato rice, tasted really full of flavor. The spring roll was thin, crispy, and yummy.
Quite a cozy vietnamese place. Had the slice beef pho and pork spring rolls. Spring rolls were perfect, crispy and so tasty, served with lettuce and sauce to dip them in. Pho was very tasty as well, portion was quite big for me even though I ordered the small one.
Love it so much! The place was so busy during lunch, but it was worth waiting! Unexpected experience, perfect for a cold day, definitely come back and try the others someday!
Easily the best pho in this part of Melbourne - the broth is full of flavour, the vegetables are nice and crunchy and the beef is of a reasonable quality. Great value, quick, no fuss.
I was quite impressed with the pho here. Not as good as Pho Hung Vuong, but it is far better than any of the pho places you find in the city. The broth tastes authentic and flavorsome. The meat is good and noodles are just right. The only criticism is that the large bowl is quite small.
Service was quick and efficient. I had the beef and beef balls pho. Very good. However as always pho has too much salt in it. Thats my only critique. That could just be the nature of pho tho. Will come back.
Never thought I'll be eating Pho on Lygon St. But it was a very chilly night and we just wanted something hot so we gave this place a go. It was quite full but we got a table straight away. Either i was hungry or just too happy (because i found my phone), the pho was really tasty, the beef balls were yum. We also ordered prawn and pork spring rolls, they were really good!! I ate 4 myself. Service was quick and efficient so I would definitely come back!
A relaxing cafe feel! I didn't mind ordering extra noodles and beef as it still works out cheaper than any other restaurants in the area.
You wouldn't find a pho joint serving bean sprout and basil that fresh and clean!
A male front of house staff was nice to move tables so I could eat more comfortably. It was very sweet of him to offer proactively.
If you feel like Asian cuisine but don't want to burn a hole in your pocket, this is THE place to visit.
Love the simplicity of the place - although more for lunch than dinner. Tend to go for the pho or bun bo hue dishes - they're tasty, well-balanced and good value.
Service can be a bit off though - not always the most welcoming of places.
Haven't tried the pho here, but the rice paper rolls are excellent. Personal favourites are grilled chicken and prawn roll. You can choose from five different sauces: hoisin sauce, chilli, sweet and sour, fish sauce, soy. I prefer the hoisin which apparently is made in house.

I ordered the Special beef combo Pho, the soup is sweet and full of herbs-ish taste. The noodles are chewy and have nice texture. The beefs are tender and easy to chew as well. My friend ordered the "spicier" version of Pho, our food taste pretty similar except the fact that hers is a lil bit more spicier than mine. They provide us with fresh salad veggies for garnish too. And the portion is also pretty big. It's worth the try!
Headed here from luck, had the pho noodles with beef and beef balls.. Wasn't blown away but still fairly consistent with Pho taste. Really popular and great service.
Pho is my favourite food. I've tried here several times. They have very nice soup noodles. As others mentioned, beef was tender, soup had great flavour.
Vietnamese restaurant with authentic vietnamese classics and beautiful pho. The beef was tender, soup had great flavour and was well balanced. New from Sydney but the best pho I've tried in melbourne so far after 4 other places. All the drinks I'm used to are also on the menu and the staff here are genuine and friendly especially the owner Peter and staff Isha. Keep up the great work and open up 8 more places please one in the city and another in southbank would be perfect!
Soooooo good! Like this place for take away lunch....good pho and cold rolls....their lunch packs with a roll are also amazing. Be weary of the locals on Carlisle street at night....one time there was a dude harassing the lovely staff but I coaxed him out with $1
Very Good Vietnamese food. My favourite Vietnamese place around campus,
price is moderate, well, cheap. The drinks they offered(3 color drink is very tasty!)
Been there a couple of times :)
Reliably good. Went back to Saigon Pho for about our fifth time. Good service, always delicious and filling Pho.Had the spicy Hue version very good. Wife had the vegetarian which is less exciting but good variety of veges and nice broth. great value. will be back again
Good for a cold. Just left Saigon Pho - great vegetarian spring rolls (love the red sauce - sort of Sriracha like, on the table) and yummy #12 chicken pho. Helped my cold too. Service was a bit challenged but they were maybe a bit short staffed? Server was nice enough but not attentive enough. I'd go back though - good food and really comforting food.
Decent. Iced coffee was very good, and I liked the rice paper rolls which were quite large and tasty. The pho was decent but not awesome - I'm surprised they got such a high rating. It's probably because there aren't many viet options in the area. Worth the trip for a quick lunch but passionate pho lovers can do better!
Best Pho in town, if you're into to Pho it is a must try.
Delicious, great pho and broken rice. Quick service too.
Great tasting food, especially the bun bo hue, and clean! Love it
Awesome winter treat. Nice atmosphere, tasty soup, good service and a clean restaurant.
Definitely where I will go for Pho from now on :)
Beautiful vermicelli salad. Had the vermicelli salad with grilled chicken maryland and grilled pork, omg it's to die for. definitely going back for more. highly recommend this place.
Quick lunch stop, beautiful sliced beef Pho. Fresh and very tasty during winter!
Great cheap food. Wow for lunch I had Bun Bo Hue- its a knockout! hot and spicy and only $10 for a massive bowl. The staff were friendly and helpful. My friend ate a Pho Ga and he said it was really good too. Authentic Vietnamese with a bowl of sprouts and lettuce/mint on the side. My new fave lunch spot
Fantastic! Good food, pleasant atmosphere, clean.
Never disappoints!. This place was a great find. Always guaranteed delicious, fresh food at a reasonable price. I especially enjoy the vermicelli noodles and love trying all the exciting drinks they have to offer - three colour drink and coconut juice are my faves! YUM!
I've been to vietnam and I eat a lot of pho! This place has a great fresh, tasty soup. I love it and recommend it. Really authentic.
Excellent. Great fresh food!! very clean and nice service, will definitely return
Very clean place , food ingredients are fresh
Pho sure!. Great pho, not a claggy or cloudy soup...Well priced close to the city. Puts the Italian on lygon st to shame.
Great vietnamese. This place is great for three reasons - the food is cheap, delicious and it is always quiet on a friday evening. I don't understand why really, as the beef soup is awesome, and I like the 3 layer drink also. I've had the vietnamese coffee before too and it was good also. We always leave with bellies bursting, but still manage to squeeze in some icecream from Il Dolce Freddo a few shops down.
Pretty good city pho. A great little find that serves the best pho in the city (at Victoria Street prices). Ingredients are good quality and restaurant is modern and clean. Will be back : )
A regular haunt. Eaten here a few times, and have liked all I've eaten. Nice, clear, clean, not too oily pho broth, good com tam bi xuong cha and good bun dishes too. Everything could do with more rau cai (green & bean shoot sides) but otherwise, very good. Service is always friendly and fast.
A hidden gem.. On a chilly autumn arvo, me and a friend decided to check out saigon pho in order to satisfy our pho-cravings. Located at the southern tip of Lygon st, I was quite surprised how quiet this place was.
The menu is straight forward enough without any awkward spellings and unnecessary fancy dishes. Oh and the phos come in either small or regular size. I had the sliced beef and brisket while my friend had sliced beef and tripes. And never forget a glass of vietnamese coffee. The meals arrived promptly and by the look of it, they gave us a relatively generous portion. The soup was pure and delicate, meats tasted like meats and the soup was hot enough to cook through my bean sprouts. My only concern is about the noodles being slightly rough on the palate. It would've been perfect if the noodles were silky smooth. Do have a taste of the homemade chilli oils because they were extremely tasty. The vietnamese style dripping coffees were probably the best I've tasted so far. It was fragrant and strong enough to add a kick and the condensed milk was equally balanced. Amazing!!
Do forget about Mekong or Dzung in the city. Just pop onto a tram and eat here instead.
Fresh honest simple food at a very fair price. Spring rolls hot and crunchy and mains a decent serve size. Lacking the harder edge of similar richmond spots but a happy and satisfying experience nonetheless.

Authentic Vietnamese Restaurant in a low key setting. Good food at reasonable price. Spring rolls were very fresh and crispy. Pho and Bun are good size serves with great taste. Overall very enjoyable place.
Simply id like to say this restaurant has gone beyond measures of being a classy, well presented, hygienic and most importantly tastiest restaurant. There were days the food came out slow but the service from staff made me hang in there just to wait and by all means if you read this review just be patient because you wont be disappointed, stick around an enjoy this magnificent restaurant. Keep up the Pho-king good Pho. Flavoursone, yummy and delicious thumbs up SAIGON PHO! Middle finger to the other pho restaurants!
Up there with the best pho tai you can get anywhere in Melbourne. Delicious.
That was the best Bu'n I've had in a very long time; excellent flavours, super fresh ingredients. Three colour drink equally fabolous. An absolute winner!!! Will be back very soon
Great little spot for some good serve of beef pho!! Their vegetarian rice paper spring rolls are sensational. Brilliant friendly service; would highly recommend
Well had a late night out and guess where I went again.... You know it Saigon Pho Carlton! The site took my review down yesterday after a day out of enjoying my sliced beef soup. Well I'm back to say that I had the chicken with rice and a bowl of erotic Pho tai once again. It gets better and better the consistency which comes from this restaurant is fabulous can't complain. Always friendly customer service as I pay for the bill, having my meal and walking in out of those doors makes me feel like I'm walking through history of "Pho". This is by far the best Pho restaurant in town! Showing the disappointing " I Love Pho" who's worthy of the real, authentic and consistent Pho full of fresh ingredients. Anyone who does go to "I Love Pho" remember to bring a 5 litre bottle of water.... It's like eating a bag of salt! Keep up the good Pho " Saigon Pho" you surely will never lose me as a customer! Saigon Pho definitely top of the Pho charts.
Yum. Super fast, delicious pho. really nice mid week quick and easy dinner. do it.
Not bad. It's a relatively new place and we decided to check it out, rather then driving all the way to Richmond. True to it's business name; the menu was limited and the main dishes was... that's right you guessed it - Pho!
Ordered our usual fix of beef special pho and the spicy pho and it tastes surprisingly good. Did not feel thirsty at all an hour after so MSG ratio was good.
Overall, the restaurant was nice, cosy and clean. We'd classify this as our local backyard pho (minus the driving).
Just noticed there's a seperate setup for the Lyon branch! Soup was clear and with tasty this evening for Pho, topped with Vietnamese coffee in the cold weather worked a treat! Well done guys, we'll be back!
Saigon Pho Carlton. With a plethora of resturants along Lygon Street, "Saigon Pho" stands out in providing a unique dining experience specialising in traditional vietnamese soup dishes. We had an amazing dining delight, experiencing pho for the first time, the flavours were amazing in each of our dishes. The restarant is very vibrant with the highlight of the night being the extremely warm service and knowledgeable staff who made our night most welcoming.
Great to have a place in Carlton that serves healthy as well as tasty food! Few can achieve this combo. We've been twice and both times the pho has been perfect. Very traditional and tasty. Staff are very friendly which makes dining here a pleasure. Highly recommend!
Finally! Great Vietnamese food in Carlton.. A welcome addition to Carlton.....north of the city in fact. Delicious pho - fresh, tasty and wholesome. I chose the sliced beef pho ...sublime. G had the spicy beef pho...very impressed. Also like the rice paper rolls and spring rolls. Great idea to have limited menu and focus on doing these dishes well. Friendly, professional and attentive staff. A great find.
One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne!
I have ordered grilled pork on rice, grilled chicken on rice and prawn spring rolls. pork and chicken are very chewy, moist, and very very tasty. Prawn spring rolls are good at average.
I will definitely come back to try more different dishes here.
Fantastic food, always amazing. Have been coming here for quite some time - Carlton’s best kept secret. Always looked after and made to feel welcome. Also perfect for a quick takeaway. Very affordable, best spot on Lygon St.
Had lunch here and really enjoyed it. I ordered Beef, brisket & brisket fat (Táì Nam Gàu) which was really well flavoured. The soup and raw beef were seperated for travel and the attention to packaging for takeaway was excellent. The staff were really friendly and prepared the egg coffee from scratch. It was one of the few places in Melbourne I have found serving the delicious egg coffee!! Thank you.
I came here for the first time and ordered a vegetarian noodle soup. It was very delicious and it’s good proportion too. The service was great and fast but I was the only customer at the time so not sure what’s it’s like when it’s busy. I will definitely eat here again. And the place is clean.
Vietnamese gem on Lygon St- great value for money
We recently tried Saigon Pho and was impressed by the value for money. We tried the beef pho, bun bo hue and the broken rice pork special. All three were delicious. The broth in both soups was perfect. The broken rice even had the egg cake that is sometimes missing from other places. We also tried the spring rolls but I can't comment on them since they were devoured by my so I never got to try any.
The service is good and the food came out quite fast.
Overall, I would recommend this place and we will be back soon.
literally the best beef pho ever, I went back the next day
Outstanding Service & Food!! Highly recommend ⭐️
This is my go to place for Pho! The staff are so lovely and the food is delicious!
