With the weather playing mind games with me, I decided to throw caution to the wind and indulge in ice cream even though it's uncharacteristically cold for a spring day.
I arrived here while they were almost done for the day, but was still welcome in with a smile. To avoid being that annoying customer, I quickly made my choice - black sesame, and a double espresso with nuts. Loved the flavours, both very pronounced and bold. The addition of black sesame seeds in the former and nuts in the latter, made it even better in terms of mouthfeel. Consistency-wise, could be a bit more creamier but nevertheless, smooth enough.
A variety of flavours are on offer, and there's also ice cream sandwich, sundaes and milkshakes too. A great pit stop before or after shopping at nearby Coles.
I love the variety of ice cream you can get here - it’s too hard to choose which flavour always!!! The ice cream is smooth and creamy and less sweet than other places which I really like. I am always excited to try their flavour of the week as they are usually very creative.
About as good of a lemon sorbet as you're ever likely to encounter. A good sorbet cleanses the palate like a boss and this one certainly did.
The Little Luncher's smashed down their cups and cones in record time and what they didn't finish The Dear Luncher devoured with absolutely no shame.
4 Star for flavour, variety and set up. -1 for lack of friendly staff. Quality of ice cream is definitely worth going back. It’s one of the best.
Can you have too much choice? 48 flavours are enough to induce decision-making paralysis in almost anyone, but the friendly servers were happy to help us out, with recommendations for combining flavours plus samples. As well as ice cream and sorbets, the menu also has sundaes, shakes and that old-fashioned treat, spiders.
Servings are generous. Enjoyed the cherry ripe (with chunks of dark chocolate and glace cherries) paired with dark chocolate (also with chunks of dark chocolate). In general, we thought the ice cream flavours were better than the sorbets and gelati.
I felt both sad and thrilled to locate this delicious location today. After nearly missing it altogether - it's 'hidden' off Centre Road by being the second shop at the address. Their shop frontage is actually Godfrey Street - you can't turn down there, but if you can’t park on Centre Road, you can park out the back behind the shops. Now I felt sad because I have missed so many days that could have had the potential to try 'Flavour of the Month' at Will's Batch Ice Cream, but thrilled because now we know about this place - perhaps the locals don't want to share, I’d greedily want to keep it for myself too - we can come back again and again. There is another Will's in Elsternwick apparently, lucky for some.
There are a few spots inside and outside to sit and enjoy your sweet treat, we sat inside today, and watched a steady flow of people select all manner of deliciousness - and only sometimes felt envious (we intend to 'Sundae' next time we visit).
The prices here are very agreeable compared to other ice cream outlets we’ve visited, especially considering they are a small producer, the range of flavours is amazing. I had decided that because it is still cooler weather, it had to be ice cream, but the gorgeous looking sorbets will be an option for me as the days heat up. The Lovely Man was chuffed that this time, he could get his choc mint flavour combo in a thick shake - the last place we went to looked at him like he had horns, when he asked about peppermint chocolate chip ice cream. He deemed the shake just the right thickness too, neither to 'watery' nor too thick.
The older kids went for three scoops in a waffle cone, the youngest a two scoop cup, and I went a cup full of three scoops. The flavours we tried included, rainbow (not just coloured vanilla, but berry flavours), 'confetti' (vanilla ice cream with mini m&ms), liquorice, honey comb, flavour of the month (passionfruit pave - whee!), milk chocolate, dark chocolate, glazed jam doughnut, bubblegum, French vanilla, toffee. We hardly scratched the surface though! While our youngest adored his ice-cream, the serve was too much for him to finish, he was alone in that though, the rest of us finished feeling just the right fullness. Service is sociable, you are given full attention and patience as you select your flavours, as not everyone had committed to what they wanted before being served. If you are unsure of a flavour you might be able to have a little taste first, though I have my doubts I’d dislike any flavours. ‘Hidden gem’ I believe is the term that fits this little shop.
I absolutely love this shop it's my favourite ice cream shop my favourite flavours are coconut and rainbow soo good but the price is a bit too mucj
I LOVE this place ice cream is a 10/10 and service is great the employees are so kind. Also great ice cream cakes.I definitely recommend this place.
Yummy icecream and a great selection to choose from. We particularly enjoyed the coffee fudge icecream. This place is unique in Bentleigh and seems pretty popular with the school kids.
I'm usually not a huge fan of ice-cream, but I can't help but try this nice, cozy place out in Bentleigh. There are so many choices of ice-cream, I didn't know what to get. The range of sorbets is amazing. I ordered my usual favourite - raspberry and Rocky Road. They didn't disappoint! Definitely a go-to place during the summer
Local, family owned and operated and top notch ice cream. Variety of flavors. They opened up in Elsternwick as well. Do try the passionfruit.

Although I am currently participating in Live Below The Line, doesn't mean I don't have heaps of reviews to catch up on, so here is my latest, the last thing I ate out before the challenge began. Will's Batch sells their very own, 100% Australian made ice-cream (made right in our own Williamstwon, Victoria!). Kahlua Biscotti Dough Gelato - $3 (small + $1 waffle cone) Firstly their scoops are so generous!!! The male serving me went back to heap more on and I was about to stop him because I was like no I only wanted a small, but somehow this constitutes as a small?!?!? I'm not complaining.
Good icecream, bad milkshake. I like the ice cream here. Last time we got the chocolate milkshake and it just tasted wrong, had a very weird taste. Also, the person who served us seemed completely disinterested and not friendly at all. To the point she would ask a question (like 'is that all?') then turn away while I answered so didn't hear me and then turned back with a "well..?" look on her face. Still voting "like" for the ice cream.
Fantastic range, average ice cream. This place has a wonderful array of flavours. The ice cream is good but not always fantastic.
Real Authentic Ice Cream made with LOVE!. OMG! Simply delicious! Which flavour do you pick? Over 50 flavours and all are homemade with real fruit. It tastes like the old fashioned ice cream I remember having as a child . I just love the gelato range but also equally love the strawberry ice cream. Worth a visit and in summer regular visits! Yum Ohhhh!!!
Best ice cream going around!!
This place incorporates old school icecream and service with a modern twist. A must try!
Phils walnuts flavor is the best!
Delicious and refreshing ice cream with variety of flavours. Lovely service from the owner. What else could you ask for more on hot days? Highly recommended.
Great Range, good quality. There are a great range of flavors here and the fellow serving us (who could have been the owner) was really passionate about ice cream which is always nice.
There is also a built up sidewalk area where you can sit and eat your wares before they melt.
The service could have been faster but i think it was just the young girl working there lacking some experience.
I had a scoop of the Peanut butter fudge ice cream it so was delicious. The guy who served me kindly put nuts and chocolate sauce on top. Great service, would like to go back
Banana ice cream is delicious, gelato tasted artificial so would stick to more natural ice creams next time as the banana one is fresh tasting/natural
Nice to have a local!. Our family loves having a local ice cream parlour! The flavours are great. The texture is lovely. The extended summer opening hours are excellent.
The best ice cream I've had ever. So creamy and the rainbow ice cream is actually flavoured not just colourful vanilla! The best ice cream was just down the road and I've been all over looking for the best!
Great IceCream!. Great range of flavours, delicious, and the team working there are fantastic. Best ice-cream shop around!!!
Our 3 year old son claimed it as "the best ice cream ever!". we just shared the coffee and coconut and can now absolutely agree with our little boy.
Best icecream in melbourne!. Once a devoted trampoline customer, I have now been converted to Wills Batch! Great variety, hardest part is choosing which flavour - there are always 54 in stock! A girl working there told me that they have 154 flavours, and they rotate. I also found out that most of their flavours are gluten free. Always happy with the service and generous serving sizes. I like how they are popular but boutique-y enough to remember all the regulars, which I never got at trampoline. My favourite flavour would have to be vanilla bean and cinnamon. A must try!
Great value, fantastic flavours!. Big variety of interesting flavours made very well. Black sesame, peanut butter fudge and sticky date pudding flavours were excellent and came in deliciously large scoops! Can't remember exact prices but seemed cheaper than Trampoline and the like.
Very cute atmosphere. Many flavours to choose from, highly recommend the honeycomb and double chocolate. Great service and very delicious, will definately will be back soon.
The ice cream here is great. Like real banana ice cream that is the “whitish” colour of banana flesh and tastes like real banana (not the bright yellow look and taste of banana lollies)! Personal favourite is the licorice ice cream with real licorice pieces.
As other people have said, it would be 5-stars if some of the staff (not all) were a bit happier to be there.
This is my favourite icecream store! They have every flavour you could imagine and it tastes so much better than any you have had before! The secret is that it's handmade in small batches making it that bit more expensive than premium supermarket icecream but oh.....so worth it!!!! My fave is the licorice and I buy it in 500ml tubs to take home! It even has chunks of licorice in it. It reminds me of my childhood every time I take a bite as I can't find this flavour anywhere! I can't stop raving about this place just go and check it out!
Always a favourite on a sunny day! They have a good mix of classics and some new flavours. Staff are lovely and the wait time has never been more than a couple of minutes.
Tip: Their option to mix up flavours in the carry home packs is a good one to try.
Didn’t get a pic because I had finished my ice cream! The honeycomb is to die for, love the soft melt in your mouth chunks and the bubblegum was so creamy!
Good selection of flavours - donut flavour is so good! As with a lot of ice cream shops, prices are crazy and I can't justify regular patronage. Like other reviewers, I notice the long faces on certain staff members consistently with each visit. I don't let it bother me, but for the sake of your business it might be worthwhile putting a smile on your dial every once in a while? Wow totally didn't mean to make that rhyme 😂
