My go-to Paki-Indian restaurant for rich and delicious curry. Tried pretty much every curry there - Butter Chicken, Lamb Rogan Josh, Shy Paneer etc. They were all so good to the point where I wanted to lick the plates off every time. Highly recommend!
The best pakistani food I have had after I lived in Abu Dhabi years ago. The food is just amazing with all dishes we've tried so far very flavorsome! My personal favourite is the Lahori murgh and my wife loves the mutton kadhai. Even the vegetarian options are amazing (tried their shahi paneer, samosas, daal), so this is a perfect place to turn up with a group so that you can try multiple items. The "regular" tea tastes as good as the kullhad waali chai and is a great combo with the samosas. The gulab jamuns are soft and well made, and a perfect dessert to end with. This place truly deserves the accolades for serving the tastiest Pakistani food in town! Kudos to the team at Ziyka, keep up the great work!!
I have been there many times and more often than not I've been happy with the food I've got here. One of my favorite dishes here is the Lahori chicken which is served in a pan in which it is cooked. It has a really nice flavor, and the chicken is always cooked brilliantly. The mix of spices is really unique and tastes really good. This week I tried Shahi Paneer and I was blown away by the flavor. It was an amazing flavor.
Some improvements can be made in the restaurant regarding cleanliness, ambiance and the look of the restaurant, but if I only look at the food then it is exceptional.
I haven't had flavor-rich food like that in many places in Melbourne. This is one of the places that I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for Indian or Pakistani food in Melbourne.
One of my favorites for Indian/Pakistani non-veg late-night dinners. All starters, curries and breads taste excellent. Try the "Chicken cheese handi" if you're looking for an unique curry. Dessert - Probably the best Gulab Jamun in melbourne!
Negative: Don't get the biriyani if you're looking for a good hyderabadi/lucknowi style dum biryani
Best food i have tasted in melbourne. Especially lahore karahi was very tasty. I recommend this place
Amazing authentic cuisine at unbelievably reasonable prices. Might have to speak Urdu to get a better quality meal but from what I was served; it was bang in for taste, tenderness and spiciness.
Have been to this place so many times even it is a little far away from where we live.. Absolutely love this place. Their special Chicken Karahi (Pakistani style special) and Goat pulao is to die for. Mutton Karahi is lip smacking. And customer service is amazing. A must visit.
This place has amazing Pakistani food to offer , the food is amazing one should come here and try the chicken karahi (Boneless) , handi chicken and for vegetarians I know there are limited options but paneer karahi and shahi paneer is also a must , naan is completely soft and goes easily into your stomach. Location is nicely setup , service is good , can get busy easily in their working hours and it’s affordable. I would recommend this place for their affordable quality food and taste
I've never eaten so much indian food in one sitting. I recommend eating the boneless chicken karahi together with the kulcha and holy shit the kulcha is good. Its airy but at the same time has so much bite.
Ziyka was a pleasant surprise. It's a small restaurant that can hold 20-25 ppl max. This place is always busy. You can order from the menu ala-carte or from the deals on the display. The food is very flavoursome. The veg option is quite limited here. We ordered a Paneer dish in veg and one of the chicken deals from the display. The paneer and the chicken dishes were too good. The naan bread that came with the deal, however, was the downside. Wasnt too good. In fact, the naan and roti ordered separately was so much better. I guess to make cheaper deals they cut down on the quality of the flour used to make deals with naan. The food is spicy, mind you!
In short, its a good restaurant for non-vegetarian food. With limited veg menu, still not bad. Definitely worth trying.
This place was really good, the food served is perfectly the way Indians would love it, do not try the buffet because it ain’t that great, but otherwise the food here was amazing
Excellent food for when the curry cravings strike.
Mutton kadahi and Albans both chicken and lamb are outstanding!
Unfortunately not open on Tuesday.
Been to this place for the 1st time. The top of the list place for Indian & Pakistan taste. Not a very up in the ambiance but the place is clean and warm.
We tried the lamb kebab and it was out of the world. We also ordered spicy lahiri chicken and saffron rice. It was fresh, hot and spicy. The quantities are huge. Food is lip smacking.
I don’t usually eat Pakistani and Indian cuisine, but after visiting this place, I think I’ll be eating more from now on! The restaurant was really busy when we came in for dinner (8:30pm on a Monday). It wasn’t clear whether we could just seat ourselves at a table or whether we were meant to wait to be seated. Anyway, we just stood awkwardly between the front door and the counter until a staff member finally came to direct us to a table. I’m not a fan of the interior, which should be inviting and make you want to be there. The colour themes feel dull and there’s little decor to liven up the place. At least the tables aren’t situated close together and gives you a sense of space. The food is fantastic, like so many other reviewers have said. We ordered the ‘Lahori Chicken Karahi (with bones)’ - which was my favourite - the ‘Chicken Tikka Masala’ and some garlic naan. I couldn’t be happier with the taste of the food. The portions were also very generous. It’s obvious that this restaurant is a hotspot as evident by the number of people dining in or ordering take out from here. Waiting time for the food tends to be long but the food is worth the wait. Considering how busy it is, staff are as attentive as they can be.
*** NOTE: This restaurant accepts cash only. There is an ATM inside for you to withdraw money but a $2.50 charging fee applies…
Visited this place for a weekend dinner. It was crowded/ full so the service was comparatively slow. But the food was worth the wait. Boneless chicken kadai, paneer buttet masala, chicken reshmi kebab and chicken palak curry along with the garlic butter naan was amazing. The best is the dessert- Gulab Jamun which tastes like typical homemade ones.
The most authentic sub-continental food I have eaten here yet! The signature Karahi chicken and the veg achari are faves. Service is always friendly. It’s getting so popular that a line up for a table is inevitable.
This place does not get a good exposure they deserve! I had the best malai kofta in the world. I have compared their malai kofta in several other places in melbourne to jakarta and nothing compared to them. The waiters are friendly, fast in responding and nice. The restaurant gets very pack at night so better visit them during a non-peak hour to get a good experience.
Sometimes Zomato search doesn't come up some places. I checked on google map to find Chicken Biryani and sweets on Sunday night after 11pm.
Zomato Reviews are also ok so I drove to the street of this restaurant which I usually drive pass million of times.
I could see the crowds of people, 97% South Asian male customers around restaurant with full seats, people who were waiting for seats & takeaway orders. This defines the dishes are authentic and must be nice so be ready if you are comfortable to walk in.
Cashier served menu to us while waiting for seat. Best to ask what is sold out before dine in to avoid disappointment. When we get seated, we ordered chicken Biryani and other popular dishes but they were not available.
I almost drive to King St in the city but my partner decided to try some rice with MILD chicken curry.
Curry was beautiful Spicy hot chilli flavours as expected and Naan was so fresh and moist.
I wanted to order tea and Gulab Jamun for myself but the waiter told me to order later, after my partner's main dishes. It's like Chinese Restaurant. Restaurant decides when customers are allowed to order. Very demanding culture.
By the time finished main dishes within 30min and ordered tea & sweets, the waiter said kitchen has closed for table service and Gulab Jamun was sold out of the day.
I'm not sure the timing of ordering sweets without knowing the last order. Remember to order dessert as soon as main dishes are served and have one bite.
They said all the dishes would be available until 9pm any day. For us visiting after late hours, they suggested to come Wednesdays.
I will try this Wednesday to score 1 not been served🚫 or score 4 been served☺️

Food was very authentic and delicious, truly a breath of fresh air in Melbourne's dining scene. Unfortunately there was a mix up with our takeaway order which we only noticed when we got home (1 veg curry and 2 chicken curries instead of 2 veg and 1 chicken). We were happy to overlook this mistake, but what left a sour taste in our mouths was the service. The staff refused to acknowledge me (female) even though I was placing the order and paying them, instead only addressing my partner as "Sir" multiple times. I would love to come back for the food, but hope not to come across this sexist attitude again.
The best reasonable pakistani food ever!!!
My friend recommended that I should try this place out and boy! was I in for a treat? You have to have try the samosa's here. They smash the samosa's, topped with Cholay current with Dahi and onions on it. One bite of it and didn't stop till the last piece. The naans are so soft and fresh, wouldn't find it anywhere in Melbourne. Had the chicken Biryani too. The chicken was well cooked and tender.
The interiors looks like any Indian or Pakistani Dhabba.
Would definitely come back and have some more Naans.
The location is not as hard to find and the restaurant can definitely invest in the decor. The food was beyond imagination, tried the cheese karai as I personally have never experienced something so beautifully put together. The portions are satisfactory and 3 can share a meal. The price is good comparing to the pakistani/indian cuisine. My only bad experience would be the customer experience as it was below standards even when the restaurant was partially empty. Never the less a very good experience should definitely try it one of the best.
White karahi chicken and chicken achaari are among the 2 must haves at this place. Been here numerous times but it never fails to impress me.
Went with a friend who couldn't stop raving about this place. And he was correct! We ordered mutton karahi, beef nihari, chicken tikka and some naan & kulcha. Everything was flavoursome and packed with the right spices in a generous quantity.
The only downside was they only accept cash and did not even have a receipt/ invoice system. A bit dodgy saving on tax like that and might not go back for this reason. The food was however faultless.
Amazing dishes !!! You mush try chicken cheese and gulab every week I visit this restaurant at least once so much nice pakistan foods they sells
Indian food, cheap and delicious. Kebabs aren't the best, but the main course is cooked brilliantly. Breads are fresh and taste wonderful. Lamb Rogan Josh, butter chicken, kadahi chicken, garlic Naan and the works..
Budget friendly (big thumbs up for that). It is cash only, so better withdraw some before you go there.
Ziyka means flavour in Urdu and Punjabi. The restaurant delivers a tasty, relatively cheap Northern Pakistani (Punjabi) cuisine, served in good proportions and in reasonable time, in clean, utilitarian, although quite comfortable setting. The staff are friendly and quite helpful with enquiries. Being vegetarian, I ordered the yellow lentil (Daal Tadka) and the mixed pickled vegetables (Veggie Achari) dishes. They were delicious, although rather oily. No cards are accepted, only cash, but there is an ATM, which provides cash, for a small commission. The restaurant is popular amongst the South Asian community, especially with takeaway food, which could be seen from the numbers of people coming and going, presumably indicative of the low price and the high quality of the food. The restaurant has now expanded into the shop next door, again a sign of its success. I would highly recommend a visit.
Looking for a no frills cheap place with quick service, satisfying food at affordable prices - look no further.
Ziyka serves both Pakistani and Indian food but as the owners are Pakistani it makes no sense to order the usual indian dishes.
The menu is extensive with so many to choose from that you must try some Pakistani cuisine. My friend and I ordered the chicken bharta which was large pieces of chicken in a peppery yoghurt gravy with fresh capsicum and onion
Very peppery and mild. But delicious.
The lamb saag with its creaminess and peppery flavour was definitely a winner.
The garlic naan were super buttery with a massive helping of fresh mince garlic.
So many strong flavours
Table service is provided.
Take away options available too.
I never thought I'd say this, but the Bain Marie food is great with insane value too. Plus they're open very late. Really popular for good reason. No frills place that just doesn't disappoint.
Very nice open late my taxi driver friends told me this was the best Indian food so yummmmm omg😀 funny signs out the front great prices!!! I love the naan omg
My boyfriend and I ate dinner here recently. He had been before but I hadn't. It's a casual dining restaurant and cash only, but there's an ATM inside.
We ordered mutton karahi, dhal and some side butter naans. The dhal is different to the usual yellow or red dhal you normally find at indian/Pakistani restaurants. This one was slightly nutty and spicy. It is oily but in a good way. The mutton karahi is a yoghurt based curry, deep in flavour and not overly filling unlike most dairy based curry sauces. After dinner we ordered a gulab jaman and milk tea. I wasn't meant to eat the gulab jaman but when it came to the table I couldn't resist and proceeded to order another one, just for myself. It was freshly made so it was warm and syrupy! I highly recommend this for dessert. The milk tea is made from strong spices, and is a bit heavy after a big meal but still nice. Maybe order it if you drop in for dessert or a light meal.
The food was delightful and I recommend this place if you are looking for authentic and delicious Pakistani food. Personally, ill be back to try the haleem and paya.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
+3.5
So I asked a friend what Indian restaurant is good, he said this place so I got him to take me in his taxi, I ordered take away,
I must say over all the food tasted quiet good. They only half full the take away containers so I felt a little ripped off. Photos are before I took anything out :-( The only thing is the spinach one didn't have much fresh spinach I'm guessing they just made it from the paste. I prefer when they add a lot of spinach it's a little more expensive cost wise but it taste way better :-(
The first one I had was palak paneer it had just a few pieces of cheese not too much,
The second one was Dahl! It was so different to what I've ever had before I found the splicers where mind blowing the only mad thin was why did they use so much oil! It was far too much oil! I poured most the oil down the sink.
The garlic nan bread was ok, I ordered two nan but I think they gave me one plan because one had a lot of garlic the other non!
Been going here every night for the past couple of nights. Store has extremely convenient opening hours, closing at 1:00am on most night, which is perfect for me because i am out working till late. Food is terrific every time, and at $8.50 for a VERY generous serving of two curries and rice, the value for money is amongst the best in the city for Indian cuisine. Staff are often very friendly to me, and noticed that i was a regular customer lately and introduced themselves (shout-out to Ali). All in all a great place to grab a bite of Indian, and you know its authentic cause the streets and store and filled with taxis.
Tasty, inexpensive Indian food. Ambience is strange and service rudimentary but a good place for a no-frills bite to eat. $8.50 deal for two curries and rice is hard to pass up. Give it a try!
Closest thing to what I can call Indian food in Melbourne. I have tried several of an restaurant and to be honest most of them are over priced or not authentic or straight up disappointing. This one however is none of those restaurants. This might not be the best looking restaurant but if you really go to a restaurant just for looks then I pitty your wretched soul.
A place worthy of the name. I ordered a chicken biryani and it was one of the best I have had in Melbourne so far. Totally recommended for people who like Indian food or want to try it.
Easily one of the best places that I visited in Melbourne, home away from home is the feeling that you Get. The chicken Palak and a lamb kebab was very good the biryani can be improved. gulabjamun deserve a prize for the size and taste.
Good recommendation by a friend
I am quite upset. yesterday night me and my cousin had dinner to zyka restaurant,,,we ordered goat curry, But when i tasted, it was beef.
they served us beef but they saying it is goat. so guys be careful when u choose goat curry. u must know about difference between goat and beef or lamb. beef is cheaper than goat. so please be careful customer, when u ask for goat curry or lamb curry. check before you eat. they mixing the goat beef lamb to save money. so my advise is to check the item exactly you ordered and also customer should have knowledge about taste of different meat. i knew all because i used to work as a chef for 5 years in VUE DE MONDE restaurant with Shenon bENNETT and work for different cusine. they served me beef when i ordered goat curry.
i also compalin owner but he denied.
rest of food in this restaurant is yummy like chicken, vegetarian.
PLS CHECK WHEN YOU ORDER LAMB OR GOAT CURRY. THEY MAY SERVE YOU BEEF INSTEAD TO SAVE MONEYYYY..BEEF IS CHEAPER THAN LAMB OR GOAT.
The best place for Indian-Pakistani cuisine (especially starters) in Melbourne. Much better food and a lot cheaper compared to 'more popular' Indian restaurants . Not a fine dining, but the new set-up is bigger and pretty good for dine-in. Total value for money and great service.
Must Have: Seekh kebab (bbq), Chicken Handi and Gulab Jamun..
Order from the menu, it's definitely worth the 10 min wait. The food is so good, especially considering the price. Cheap AND great? That's not a combination you can find very often.
Late night and hungry. I dont want kebab. I see many parked taxis and indian men inside this restaurant. It means 1 thing...... good indian food at a good price 👍👍👍
The place is open till 3 A.M !!!! Food here was okayish-good. The biryani wasn't upto the mark and the thalis weren't great either. Gulab jamun desert was yummy. Service was great and staff were alert.
Cheap and cheerful!!
Top food, fresh and tasty full of flavors . Very fast at very reasonable prices.
What else you need for a late night dinner?

Very good and spicey Indian food. Me and my friends have become a regular over here.
Occasionally their fried rice doesn't taste good. But their best dish according to me is the lamb biriyani...
Had heard lot about this place, went there with couple of my friends, ordered 4 dishes from bain marie, very much disappointment with all 4 dishes, and on the other hand I must say we were not disappointed with the food we ordered from à la carte, it was simply to the point, the best dish was Ziyka special, simply amazing dish, the breads were nice and fresh, service was kinda slow, but the food was worth the while, owner and staff were super friendly, Ambiance was nice and clean, for desert we ordered gulab jamun and gajar halwa, I didn't tried gajar halwa but gulab jamun was the best I've ever had in melbourne so far, no one could ever make such amazing gulab jamun except for my mum (I mean everyone's mum 😉) in the end we tried masala chai, too good, and for price this cheap, food this mouth watering, staff so friendly, I'd go back again, & again,
P.S the address which is uploaded on Zomato is old address, they've moved their resturant, new address can be found on google,
This place is great. I eat here about 2-3 times per week. Awesome folks and nice food. I did at one point by food from the bainmarie, which was good, but the nicest fella who works here said try the food from the menu. (meaning they cook it on the spot in the back for you). Once I did that i haven't looked back. Food is so much nicer. Yes, you have to wait for 10 mins instead of just picking from the bainmarie but it's worth the wait. :)
When most of the melboune is deep asleep this tiny little place has a waiting of 30 mins before they can acoomodate u n serve u with warmth and love. They talk to u with so much respect and care u feel u are to ur Granma's place for a holiday. No fancy settings because they have worked upon the food which ll for sure bring u back. We ordered lamb masala and chicken seekh kabab and though they looked same they tasted totally different(of course both were mouthwatering delicious) they serve u chatni and mini salad on side. People kept on ordering biryanis , guess that's very popular sadly I was too full to try that. They serve food hot n fast. And there are always people coming for the takeaways . Amongst other great things is the cost. 1.5$ for roti and around 8$ for the dish 😍😍😍😍😍 yes that cheap. At any other restaurant it would be easily double the price for the same quality and less quantity. All those who love curries kebabs and biryanis and wanna eat for cheap plz go!!
Ziyka offers cheap good food. Been coming here for past 5 months. Havnt been disappointed yet. Express food and also can order saperately. Great deals available. I am not sure how close to pakistani food the place really is but all my pakistani friends love the place. Thumbs up from me!
This place is awesome for some late night Indian tucker. Bargain prices on takeaway, good bustling atmosphere, fresh and tasty. Is a bit oily....but what do you expect for under $10. Well worth a visit !
Tasty, Cheap and Cheerful. Around the corner from home this gem is our most frequent take away.
Always a successful dinner that's quick, tasty, well prepared and inexpensive.
Can't fault it.
Amazing delicious food. My husband and I brought take away food we ordered chicken karahi and chicken tikka boti with naan bread was absolutely fresh not too oily very good quality food would recommend others to definitely try
Hard Working. Not surprising there are no reviews, this place is no frills. $7.50 for two curries and rice (worth eating in as they give you heaps). Curries are tasty and filling, not to mention the place is open until 3am, making it a great alternative to a scummy pizza at Intersection. Lovely guys too.
Very busy place, full of familys and activity. Not an intimate dining experience, but it does have a vibe about it. The food is delicious, spicy and presented in a way that encourages sharing and family feasting. We ordered goat, chicken, prawns and lamb, all deliciously tender. We didn't have to wait to long for our food, the menu is accessible via a QR code, and I'm sure the staff will help if you can't access. The staff are all business, no chit chatting, which is understandable, it's a big restaurant to cover.
Absolutely amazing food! Was super excited to try this and it certainly didn’t disappoint. I don’t tend to have too much Pakistani cuisine but I’ll definitely be back as the it was all super delicious and flavourful!
We could also see / tell they used a lot of spices, herbs and garlic and ginger!!
We were recommended this restaurant by a friend. As we flew in late it was very convenient that Ziyka was open late. The food was fantastic and the staff great. The energy in the restaurant was also great with every table full of life. Simply everything we could of asked for.
Great late night dinner. We arrived late in Melbourne and this was one of the few spots that was still open for dinner past 11pm. We had a lovely meal (goat special), staff was so welcoming and it made our first night very cozy and happy!
Loved the food. For me, it was a bit crowded but had good time having good food with family and friends. We ordered kebabs, chicken ginger, chicken shinwari, with plain nan and roti. All in all good experience.
The mutton karahi was the BOMB. No brainer, order this. The chefs here definitely do not skimp on flavour- maximum flavour, no frills restaurant. Max spice, herbs, etc to deliver as authentic a flavour as they possibly can.
Chicken biryani okay. Very fragrant though! Serving was extremely generous so would be great for a big family to share.
This place was so busy, it’s massive and every table is absolutely full w around 6-8 groups waiting outside for a table with us, we got in about 20mins which was nice. The staff are very efficient and able to get multiple tables in and out at the same time. We walked down the entire carlton street from 400 gradi in Brunswick and Ziyka and DOC espresso were by far the busiest restaurants (though the entire street was positively pumping on a sat night). A lot of families must travel to come dine at Ziyka and it shows. Wish we tried the kebabs as well since the table next door ordered it and the meat platter looked divine, however we were still full as f from our first dinner.
Will definitely come back and can’t stop raving about the incredible lamb karahi here.
Best Pakistani food experience in Australia. Everything we ordered was as authentic as a typical Lahore restaurant. Very busy place though but once we got the table, rest was a very good experience. A bit wait to order the food but it is normal for such a busy place.
Overall the food and their customer service was good. I ordered non-veg platter, mutton pulav, garlic naan (bread), and chicken tikka masala. Naan was so soft and the gravy was top notch. If not for the dessert, I would have given 5 stars. I ordered Rasamalai (Dessert) which was tasting bit old. Their ambience is good, I would definitely recommend this Pakistani restaurant for dine-in, but be mindful while ordering the deserts.
