Review Bluestone Thai - Melbourne

Peter W
Unpretentious Thai restaurant with friendly and well-intentioned staff. The menu is a bit hit and miss however, with some great dishes that I order regularly for take-away , but some other dishes best avoided. Unfortunately the pad thai and other noodles are disappointing, but the curries and stir fry dishes are great and go down well with plain rice.

Disappointing. We got takeaway but for the size and price of this food it's not that good. The Pad Thai was too spicey my young son couldn't eat it, I've never experienced pad Thai to have chilli flakes but this one does. It was also a tad burnt (the noodles) leaving a burnt taste to the dish.. The chicken was under cooked, very chewy and the satay sauce not very tasteful.. The rotti was very hard too given the impression it wasn't fresh I don't know how much of the food was because it didn't arrive hot. I don't think my family will be ordering again unfortunately. 3/5 for me because of our experience.

Really enjoyed the food, Tom Kah seafood, there was plenty of seafood, the duck salad was amazing and the pad Thai chicken had all the ingredients. Will definitely be back

Absolutely blown away by the roast pork belly and chinese cabbage! Phenomenal. Will be eating this on the reg from here from now on! And the lil chicken dim sims were amazing too.

Best Thai food in Australia. Live around the corner and been going since it opened. Have tried almost everything on the menu and all amazing and consistently top quality flavours and ingredients.

Ordered home delivery pad thai and it was just bad.. where are the ingredients? Lol like where's the chicken? Bean shoots? There was some tofu but dry and cardboard.. no peanuts, no flavour.. what a joke? Worst of my life. Just paid $$ for plain noodles. Strong avoid, never again.

Chicken and cashew coconut rice roti and peanut sauce 10 out of 10

Very poor food , good service. Curry puff and spring rolls all tastless.Duck salad no Thai flavour.Thai green curry OK.

We have been to this restaurant a few times and always enjoyed the food. It’s becoming our Friday evening takeaway now we are in lockdown again. The grilled beef is fantastic!

DO NOT EAT HERE ! I REPEAT ! DO NOT EAT HERE .
The food is a joke ! It is embarrassing they are a Thai restaurant this food has nothing on Thai food .
Watery! Bland ! One demential! Over priced junk
Greasy.
I purchased this food for my 3 year anniversary
And the food was a let down .
Please don’t waste your time here . Better places to eat .

Gauging people during a pandemic and you serve this junk?
This joint is a absolute joke.
Watery sauce, bland food and rubber meat.
Steer clear of this garage.

Currently in isolation, so for tonight’s takeaway I ordered something different than my usual go to, which is Pad See Ew (that’s awesome btw) and I got the Pad Mee. Really yum! Packed with veggies and loads of flavour. My partner always orders the Cashew Chicken Stirfry and its that good, he won’t order anything else! Not sure how this place has bad reviews as I’ve only ever had great food from here.

Living less than 200m away, we thought we should try the local Thai place in our new neighbourhood. It was a pleasant meal that will feature again on the roster for @Codalicious and me.

We had prawn spring rolls (adequate) , pad see ew (delicious) red duck curry (excellent flavours and well cooked - the $5 extra for duck was a bit steep).

Worth a visit... although I kinda wish it was still the pub I remember as a kid.....

If I could give it a 0, I would. Worst food I’ve had in a very long time. All the protein in our dishes were dry and hard- you can tell they use the cheap off cuts. Everything was 1 flavoured. Which was either sweet, or ... bland.

Oh and, this place isn’t cheap either. So it’s not like you’re getting what you paid for. Save your money and get some maccas instead.
Karl
Worst Pad Thai I’ve ever had. No ingredients. Just rice noodles. No chicken. No sauce. No vegetables. No peanuts. Terrible. Inedible. Tiny spring rolls, rotti was doughy and not cooked. Not sure how they have some good reviews? Give this place a miss.
Ralph
Pad Thai tasted just like rice noodles soaked in hot water, didn’t even seem to taste stir fried. No flavour. No sauce. A few chilli flakes, literally only a couple of small pieces of chicken, and maybe three pieces of chopped up peanuts. No herbs, egg, or tofu etc. (note we asked for no bean shoots which they followed). Absolutely inedible and a rip off at $16.
Nik Skoufis
White-washed boring Thai food. I have nothing nice to say about this place. Miserable food.

I ordered the chicken basil stirfry and this is what i got. Is it chilli basil stirfry? None of my family could taste the basil in it. No, I wont ever come back.

I'd much rather hire a box set of Michael Flatley's Lord of The Dance concert and watch them in a hot, humid room than eat this Thai food.

Truly awful

Get with the program, it's 2019.

Lovely looking restaurant offering a wide variety of Thai. I really enjoyed the Pad See Ew, and also had the Pad Thai. However it was the very sweet pad thai sauce which I don’t particularly enjoy. The meals are a lot cheaper than Yim Yam down the road which is a nice bonus, and the food isn’t of cheap quality. Will try again. They also offered vegan options, such as the skewers which were highly praised by friends.

Enjoyed a tasty meal here recently. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was also tasty and plentiful. A nice find in Yarraville and good to know they offer takeaway also.

I thought this was a lovely little place, the pad see ew was exactly what I wanted and the spring rolls were crispy and delicious. The penang curry was a little thinner than I'm used to and the sauce was quite pale, but that's just me. They could do with some music or something to up the ambience - by the time we finished we were the only ones there and it was pretty silent. But it's in a beautiful old building and they've made the decor very nice.

Nice thai food.

Will need to try it again as it was nothing special the first time we purchased it.

Maybe we need to eat in next time as that might change our minds.
Ordered food via Uber eats and never have I been so disappointed with the quality. The Tom yum soup was so liquidy and bland- tasted like tap water. The beef salad was not at all balanced and the beef itself was tough. The roti was hard and oily and the red curry tasted like coconut milk and nothing else. My partner and I took one bite of everything and threw out the rest. What a waste of 62 dollars. So disappointed.
Emma
Such a shame - no one likes to leave a bad review. Delivery through uber exceptionally speedy (hence 2* not one) but Tofu Pad Thai and fried rice dish were lack lustre and basic. It felt like it was all sauce and no fresh ingredients and all the great things about Thai like fresh herbs, chilli and the vegetables were not fresh and crunchy. Thumbs down from us tonight.

Is this what you call Pad Thai?
This is not Pad Thai.
I should have just thrown my money in the bin, because that is where this "food" ended up.
Tom
One of my favorite places to go! Delicious food and great portion sizes! The Satay sauce is my favorite dish. The fried rice is good too! Love to spice up my dish with a 5!

Ordered via deliveroo. Our order came to a total of $95 for two people. The dessert we ordered was supposed to come with ice cream but the restaurant called us AFTER the driver had already left the restaurant with our order to advise us that there was no ice cream. Was an awkward conversation as they called us to tell us then went silent, and I didn't understand the point of the call. Most disappointing experience. No partial refund was offered for not provided for not having the full dessert that was ordered and expected as part of the order. Will not be ordering from here again.

I think the chefs have changed. Has to have changed.

Our chilli and basil beef was like every other over sauced Chinese style dish. Nothing Thai about it at all. We have eaten here quite a bit and it was fresh and tasty. Tonight was a massive let down. Won't be back.

The BBQ Pork was dry and stiff. See ya Bluestone

Highlight - the coconut rice.

lol
Clarkie
Solid Thai food with a few special to choose from, good portion sizes as well.

Really nice decor, excellent service.

Loved the prawn spring rolls but all was good, reasonably priced too.

What a great addition to Yarraville's restaurant scene.
Really enjoyed the duck .
Atmosphere , service and quality of food was of a very high standard & at affordable prices.
Can hardly wait to return when next I'm in town again
Cindyhu_hx
Tried green chicken curry & grilled beef salad, delicious! The sticky rice dumpling with coconut ice cream was good too, but the ice cream texture was more like a sorbet, a bit icy, might be worth to rename it?

Very affordable price ($65 for 2) & nice deco. Will definitely go back!

I feel like this restaurant suffers because it's not situated directly on Yarraville's main drag. Do yourself a favour and eat at BlueStone Thai.
I could not fault any aspect of this dining experience; the food is delicious and reasonably priced, the service was friendly and prompt, the atmosphere is casual and relaxed.
We started with prawn spring rolls which were crispy, fresh and hot.
For our main dishes we went for the Satay tofu/veggies which was just what you want from a satay sauce. We also had had the spicy pork larb which is flavoursome and fresh. If you're not into heavy spice that's fine because it's pretty mild.

Check out the sticky rice dumpling for dessert! Make sure to have it with the delicious coconut ice cream which tastes like it's homemade.
Adele
We ordered through Deliveroo and we're so disappointed with what was delivered. Both main meals were tiny, almost entree size and the larb was dry and gritty. Had my hopes up for this place and was let down

Easily the best tasting Thai around the area. Food is always delicious, fresh and well priced.
Staff are very friendly and all beers and the majority of wines at $6 are a bargain, and something i feel is underated.
Can't talk this place up enough 👌

We have eaten here a few times and it is consistently great. Last night we had hot green chicken curry, prawn spring rolls and coconut rice. Fantastic!

Moved to the area recently and visited Bluestone Thai for takeaway. Lovely decor in the restaurant with a cosy atmosphere. Bit of a new kid on the block so pretty quiet inside but I expect this will change as word gets around. Food was excellent. Both curry and pad thai super fresh. Start going here folks!!

A lovely local restaurant. Great food and very nice staff. We have been here three times and have gone away each time happy and well fed. Beers are $6 which is a bargain. Highly recommend.
Shimmering_blue
We had a delicious meal here last night. Shared prawn 'spring rolls', a red chicken curry and Thai basil beef and steamed rice, so nothing too cutting edge, but food was delicious and generous. Service was good and the restaurant has been well fitted out. It was quiet for a Saturday night but hopefully that was due to it being a dreary night and AFL football finals. Bluestone Thai is definitely worth a visit down the quiet end of Ballarat St, at just over $50 for 2 ( we byo-ed wine) it was a yummy and economical dinner out.
Michelle Roben
Very good food for the value you get. Love their green chicken curry and pad Thai prawn is great and as for chicken skewers. Good fresh food.
Marie
The tempura vegetables were still frozen in the middle
I also got a curry and the lychees were off
Like they had been sitting in the can too long
Won't be back
Cat
This place deserves more than a 3.0; great food, lovely decor and fast, friendly service. The Panang curry was delicious. We will definitely return.
Dre
This place deserves a lot better than a 3/5 rating.
The food was arguably the best Thai in Yarraville. The place hasn't been open for long but the service was quick and the staff were super friendly. Being a vegetarian to have a whole separate menu which had a lot of variety. the flavours they also got in my cashew nut stir-fry were amazing

Fresh, delicious flavours, well-priced, good service.
Sarah
Dined here two weeks ago food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a stove which is brilliant for cold winter nights. Staff were also very helpful and attentive. Will definitely be returning :)

Had dinner here with my partner and we order the Tom Yum Prawn pad Thai and green curry. Everything tasted delicious with clean and beautiful presentation. Setting and lighting was lovely with the friendly staffs. Good tried and will be back.

A Corner block turn into a homely Thai dining room. Good food good decor and good service is just what a diner should experiencing in a little house on the corner of Ballarat st and ovens st. Very good green curry chicken especially the juicy chicken slice in the curry, Chu chee fish fillet serving in the swimming tangy curry sauce is just something you doesn't want to missed.
one of the special entree that i see the first time was- Scallop Roll? taste really good though.
A lovely find in Yarraville.
We really enjoyed the food (chu chee fish), the service (fast and friendly), the decor (tasteful), the location (so so) and the prices (very reasonable). What more can we ask for???

Surprising. wasn't sure what to eat on Saturday night and walking pass BlueStone Thai. We decide to give it a try and it doesn't disappointing us. We ordered a few different Entrees and couple mains. Satay skewer and Panang chicken was just perfect, follow up by stir fry chili basil mix seafood. We will be back for more. Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere was an extra.

We enjoyed the stroll down away from the main yarraville restaurant strip to find ourselves at this new establishment. The staff are lovely, the decor is spacious and modern, and the food was beautiful. We ordered the pork spring rolls and roti to start (i particularly like the light peanut sauce...more runny than usual ). For mains we had fried rice with duck, red curry with chicken, and green curry with pork. The meat in all the dishes tasted fresh and the vegetables were tasty. The red curry had the perfect amount of spice for me!

Despite being really full, we decided to have the pandan crepe for dessert and coconut icecream. The crepe was okay but the coconut ice cream was delicious.

We will be back :)

Heard good reviews about this place so decided to give BlueStone Thai a go and what a choice it was. The first impression is that the atmosphere is lovely and has great presentation, perfect for a nice, relaxed sit down meal.

The dishes we ordered were the fish cakes, beef massaman curry and chicken pad thai and I must say I wasn't disappointed with any of them. They were all of good quality and more importantly were delicious. Also the quick and efficient service from the well presented staff aided the positive experience of this restaurant and I will be dining here again soon.

Highly recommend this place if you like traditional thai food.

Dined at BlueStone Thai twice now and both times the food has been beautifully prepared, tasty and quick to arrive. My litmus test dish is green curry and these guys nailed it turning out a really top class meal.

The location is out of the high traffic centre of Yarraville but worth the two minute walk. Atmosphere and décor is great but the lights could be turned down a touch.

Highly recommended!!

New Thai restaurant in Yarraville. We thought they were brave, opening down the road from the ever popular and always full Yim Yam.

We enjoyed our meal here. Yummy food, great, quick service. Lovely decor and atmosphere.

Definitely going back again.

Recommended if you want somewhere a bit quieter, a bit more romantic than Yim Yams, but still quality food.

Give them a go.
