OH BOY!
There’s not many burger places on Glenferrie Road so BOY doesn’t have a lot of local competition. BOY prides themselves on their thick shakes, and BOY they were thick and tasty. I had the one with biscoff cookies and it was very tasty – I think I just made a food baby and the gender is a BOY!
The burger was decent, it was very saucy. The meat was a bit dry but that is me clutching at straws. I had the chips as is. I believe BOY do loaded fries well but BOY I was too full to be eating those. Maybe next time.
All in all, this BOY liked the shakes but this place would be just as tasty whatever gender you identify with because it’s 2019!
Rating 4.5/5
Visited this place yesterday night. The only shake i had here was their "Mr ferrero nutella" which was damn amazing. I ordered the small size that too was pretty good quantity wise.

Boy and Co is my go-to pick me up spot. Bad day? Boy & Co. Hungover? Boy & Co. Junk food cravings? Boy & Co.
I always get the Gravy & Cheese Loaded Fries when I go. They are delicious and I really love the spring onion and sprinkle of spice on top. I have had most of the Shakes on the menu and can recommend them all but I got the Salty Pimp (salted caramel with toasted coconut) this time because it’s my favourite.
Nothing but great recommendations for Boy & Co.
Have been hooked on boy & co ever since my housemate introduced me a couple of months ago. Thought it was finally time for a review. I’ve managed to try a few flavours of shakes (Hansel & general, strawberry fields and Jane doe) with the Jane doe (chocolate) still coming out on top. Have never been disappointed with the loaded fries or tater tots. Cheeseburger loaded fries a true winner. I liked the sound of the popcorn chicken but unfortunately I found them to have a very strong salty flavour which needed extra sauce to cover up. However, my housemate loves these so it might just be personal preference. Quick and polite service. Overall 5 stars :)
Love Boy and Co💗💗 The best cookies and cream (black and white) milkshake ever and just tried the ka-pow tater tots....to die for! So crunchy and flavoursome with the mayo adding the cherry on top:) Will be back😍
Taking shakes and fries to the next level, boy and co is for all the sweet tooth lovers who enjoy fun things like Nutella fries or cereal killer shakes. Fun and sweet- you won’t leave disappointed!
Amazing Americano style burgers and shakes. Loved the loaded fries, shakes and popcorn chicken! A nice treat in a funky environment (also avail on uber eats!)
Introduction:
It might have been a while since I've made an appearance here, but I'm still alive and you can't stay alive without eating! While I've assembed quite the backlog of restos, this episode with Boy & Co. Malvern was the most recent thing I eat: a lazy Saturday Night dinner with friends, new music.. you know the deal and you know the flavours it necessitates: big bold flavours with an Americano edge, fast food; but hopefully, delicious food.
Delivery Experience:
It doesn't take long to get food from here using the now ubiquitous Uber Eats service. Food will arrive quickly in branded paper bags and cardboard containers. These containers are inspired by an old guard of legacy fast food styles, the classic diner style, the McDonalds late 50s. The food could have been warmer but honestly it's freezing cold today so that might have something to do with it. While Uber may run the gig economy it can't control the weather.. yet!!
Quality and Flavour of Experience:
This was where the meal really came into itself. The order was simple: popcorn chicken x2 (one with sweet chilli sauce, the other smothered with rance dressing and BBQ sauce, both finished with a generous sprinkling of chopped spring onion greens. A serve of sweet potato fries, large.
The chicken was outstanding in an interesting way both saucy and savory, small bites but a larger serving than one would expect from the sometimes stingy portions dished out by lesser americana outlets. Anyone who has actually been to america would realise one of its defining features of the USA cuisine is its large size.
Large fries in name, large fries in nature. There's not much to be said about these except they're delicious. They have a bit of a tempura-esque coating, but its really thin, crisp and delicious. They are finished with a simple sprinkling of sea salt, nothing fancy, and certainly no sugar, which is one of the wosrt crimes perpetrated to the sacred vegetable. Its already sweet. A bit soggy but in the best way.
Closing Thoughts:
If you're in the delivery area, give it a try.
Ordered gravy and cheese. The fries were great and come with Cajun spices which makes this really stand out from other poutine dishes. Only downside is lack of gravy, it just needed a little more. I also had the coffee shake which was nice.
Little more I can say really. The loaded frys are amazing!!! Cheeseburger up!!! The coffee milkshake was heavenly!!! The guys here were friendly!!! Most excellent!!!!
Shakes are amazing!
Loaded fries and potato gems are what you expect. Super yummy flavour combos. Slightly over priced for the serving sizes but still delicious.
Ordered this via uber eats.
It's a shame it was a little cold when it got here as I'm sure it would have been better if we had it fresh from the fryer. Anyways we got the loaded chilli fries and Kewpie tater totes, every mouthful was a clotted artery but we kept going. Definitely a place to go when you want to negate a full week's worth of gym.
We'll come back to the actual shop next time and do the milk shakes pairing.
The shakes? The best. No better shakes that at Boy & Co. Other places envy their shakes, they can't match them! Sad! Huge variety of flavours, I mean just so many. Very unique, lots of amazing shake flavours you can't even imagine. And the fries, I mean I've had fries before but these were the best. Amazing! And try the popcorn chicken! No other place like this, it's the best. Don't bother with other nasty places, listen. Just go to Boy & Co.
I love Boy & Co! Their milkshakes (I'd say they're thickshakes!) are very thick, creamy and full of flavour - I've had the Nutella and Speculoos milkshakes. I've also had a number of their chip options including the salt and vinegar fries, chili cheese fries and kewpie mayo tater tots - all were great and very tasty!
There are booths inside, and the courtyard out the back is lovely and sunny when the weather is good.
I order the Ka-Pow Tater Tots which is potato gems coated in Japanese seven spice, kewpie mayo & spring onion. The flavour was quite strong but pairing it with a Blue Heaven Milkshake made it quite an enjoyable meal. Keen to try other things on the menu next time.
The reason for visiting here was to sample the fried chicken. I wasn't disappointed. The Kewpie Mayo was overloaded on the chicken, which was ok, but less mayo and better flavour would be more favourable. The chips were wonderful and coated in chicken salt as per my request. The chocolate orange "Jaffa" shake was a delight. I can't wait to return and try some more of the shakes.
Ordered a strawberry shake, large chips, and popcorn chicken. Shake was pretty good, chips adequate. Popcorn chicken would've been great - toppings and sauces were good - but they were very very oversalted. Couldn't finish them.
I came here to satisfy a sweet potato fry craving, but was disappointed upon arrival to discover that they were out of sweet potato. I settled for the normal fries instead. Luckily they turned out to be top quality. Very crispy and extremely fluffy. They were a bit too heavily salted for my liking but it wasn't to the point where it was unbearable.
Keen to return to try their sweet potato fries.
Taters are pretty much the way to my heart. We got the Kimchi Fries, Ka Pow Tater tots and Nacho Tots, ordered through UberEats so had a long wait, which was expected. My coworker and I were having a pretty shit day at work, so the three servings of potato really, really helped. The food was so good - flavored differently, done in different ways, each dish with its own distinctive tastes despite all being potato. It was honestly the highlight of our otherwise horrendous day. 10/10 will order again through UberEats or will visit the store. And next time I'll be getting the shakes. Absolute champs.
We ordered banoffee, black & white, and sweet potato fries. The baoffee is too sweet for me. I prefer the black & white, very smooth and creamy. The sweet potato fries is ver crispy.
These guys make the best damn fries in melbourne hands down. They put the right amount of sauce to chip to cheese ratio. It's my go to hangover lunch. oh and try the cereal killer milkshake. 10/10
Loved the gravy loaded fries and cookies and cream shake, perfect hangover cure! The salty pimp shake my friend had seemed to taste a bit funny?
Ordered:
- Strawberry Field
- Britney Spearmint
- Kimchi Fries
- Chilli Cheese Fries
Shakes were amazing; very thick and creamy and it went well with the loaded fries. The fries were intense but so so delicious; however the chilli cheese fries would have been better if they were melted!
My approach to the whole rating thing is that if I'm rating somewhere like Boy & Co. for shakes and fries, I'm not comparing them to Cumulus or Longrain, I'm comparing them to anyone else who does shakes and fries. And these guys have them nailed. The range of milkshake flavours shows these guys are serious - good flavour combos way beyond the range at most places. And maybe they didn't invent the concept of loaded fries, but Boy & Co have mastered the art. Great arvo treat.
Friendly, helpful service. We really enjoyed the chilli fries and salt & vinegar fries. Kid #2 loved the chocolate peppermint shake. It had a smattering of teenagers in the front part of the restaurant but was pretty empty in the courtyard. The table we sat at was pretty grotty and had an empty cigarette packet on the ground next to it. If you're after a super dooper shake or some tasty loaded fries this might be your place.
Been a few times and always very happy. The milkshakes are perhaps are one of the best in Melbourne in terms of creative flavours. The chips are nice and a good compliment. Staff are kind and meals are served quickly. The garden makes for a nice day in the sun or the booths are good feature. Perhaps just a bit overpriced, but for the milkshakes that is the custom at most venues.
This is the place to go when you feel like indulging in some naughty food. Chips swimming in cheese sauce and gravy are so good when you need a yellow food fix.
Best milkshakes ever! Mr. Ferrero Nutella and Britney spearmint are my favorites! I'm not one to buy a milkshake every week, but this place is worth driving out for! The service is always great and speedy. The chips are also a great snack if you're feeling peckish! Definitely recommend.
Chill place to grab a snack. I loved the fries with gravy on top. The Nutella milkshake was pretty good as well although it doesn't compare with Tuck Shop's milkshakes, a favourite joint of mine. Portions were pretty good, but they're slightly pricey for what you get. The girls serving us there was friendly and lovely! Worth a try.
As a chips and gravy enthusiast, i'm very happy about discovering this quaint fast food cafe. There are a huge range of milkshakes, which sound delicious, however I decided to grab some food. I ordered the loaded gravy and cheese fries, and was not disappointed. The service was great, and the staff were working well with the busy lunch rush. I sat in the courtyard, which was cute and had a good atmosphere. The only negative I found was the ordering system, as it can get confusing waiting for food with a number of other customers, rather than the food being delivered to tables. Despite this, I would definitely go back!
It's the kinda milkshake experience that leaves you fully convinced that you died and went to heaven. The tooth fairy probably wouldn't be impressed, but the rest of you sure as hell will 😈
Restaurant: This place is the cutest joint I have ever visited! It just has cuteness exuding from all sides. The back seating area is super chilled. Since Summer is just around the corner, it would be the perfect place to be. The restaurant is super clean as well. Most if not all of the patrons clean after themselves here which is an absolutely wonderful thing.
Milkshakes: Oh my lord. I tried both the Strawberry Fields and the Black + White milkshakes. The strawberry fields was apparently amazing according to my mate. The Black + White milkshake though ... PERFECTION! Their milkshakes definitely brings all the boys to the yard!
Fries: I tried the poutine (Cheese & Gravy on the menu) today. Everything just worked so well together. Not one ingredient tasted foul or out of place. Usually with poutine, restaurants either mess up the gravy or the cheese but this place just does it so well!
Overall: I'm definitely taking the squad here more often for shakes!
Really good shakes and fries! I had the black and white shake👌🏼and I loved it! It's self service and there's a nice courtyard seating area outside.
Great cookies and cream thick shake.
Nice fit out and service with a smile from the girls on duty.
Only draw back was that it was a little smelly from the fryers.
Next time I think I'll head for the rear courtyard.
Hands down the greatest shakes in Melbourne! I tried some salt & vinegar fries and they were pretty tasty. The fries are perhaps a little pricey but I think the shakes are well priced and very much worth it. Can be hard to get a seat, but on a warm day it's good to get a takeaway.

I've been wanting to try this place ever since Urban List wrote about them, this was way before they opened, but since I rarely go into Malvern, it has taken me several months to finally make it here. It is a very simple diner style joint, that specialises in shakes and fries. Not so much somewhere you would go for a meal, but great as a snack or takeaway shop.
Shakes are delicious! Fries are also good, would recommend gravy as a dipping sauce. Generally quick service, perhaps a greeting by staff when entering would be good.... On the whole, a positive experience.
Great at what is does! Can't go past the milkshakes and the fries but the only downside is that slightly expensive. The staff are all very friendly
Had the Nutella shake & fries with gravy and cheese toppings... It's nice but it's definitely over priced - $10 for fries and $5.50-7.50 a shake. It's not that amazing, wouldn't rush back in a hurry.

Go here all the time, great food, service and vibes!! Never disappoints it only gets better!
Great atmosphere. The shakes are extremely tasty and the fries are cooked perfectly. Service is A+ too. See you soon!
So frickin good. Had the chilli fries and salty and Nutella shake. Blew my mind.
BEST MILKSHAKES. I came to boy and co last week and had the best milkshake. Nutella is the best, and there was even a soy option which was so good. The staff were so kind and friendly, I will definitely be coming back!!
Had the gravy and cheese fries and a salty pimp shake. Both were excellent, especially the gravy and cheese fries which were surprisingly light for what they are. Will be returning soon
10/10. Best Nutella milkshake I've ever had! Don't usually go for hot chips like that, but I shared the gravy ones with my friend and they were probably the best revelation of my life. Definitely recommend!
Amazing concept, amazing food. These milkshakes most certainly bring all the boys (and girls) to the yard!
Boy and co has done an amazing job at taking the American diner style resturant and turning it into a destination for melbourne foodies.
Love the chilli loaded sweet potato fries and black and white milkshake - will be back to try more.
Go the loaded chilly chips. Yum, want more but I'm full.
Love the milkshakes!!!! Especially the Hansel and Gretel. Loaded Chilli Fries are fantastic. Date night here we come!!!!
BOY and Co. is extremely popular among school kids. We have never eaten in a place where 90 percent of the staff and patrons are under the age of 15! At least that is the impression we got when we were there on a Saturday afternoon. It serves two things: milkshakes and fries. We decided to give it a go despite reading some mixed reviews and it was actually pretty good.
