These guys have been here for over 40 years and they definitely have not lost their magic touch! Tonight I got takeaway from here for my family. We ordered two hamburgers, a souvlaki, hot chips and potato cakes. The burgers were mouth watering! Large portions and very filling. The souvlaki was delicious - succulent meat and juicy. The chips were crunchy as well as the potato cakes - salted perfectly and tasted amazing.
These guys know what they are doing, that is why they have been around for 40 years. Crunchy chips, fresh fish, good value for money. My first visit was last night, it definitely will be the first of many.
One of the best fish and chips place I've tried. It's always popular and that means quick turnover of the fresh sesfood on display. My grilled salmon done just nice and moist, flake pack offers plenty of chips for 2. If you don't want a long wait phone in your orders!
Had takeaway a few times. Pretty good fish and chips, consistent, fresh fish and good value for money. I'll eat here again. I just wish they did fresh chips not frozen
Love this place. The flathead tails are always awesome and fresh and a generous serve. Salmon is a big piece. Chips etc are good. Lovely, friendly staff and waiting times are good. Always annoyed when I have to eat fish and chips anywhere else (if I'm away or with a friend elsewhere for my weekend take away).
Great local fish and chip shop. I love coming to this place for the great friendly service but I am almost always happy with the food as well. The only exception being sometimes the chips are amazing and other times they are a little undercooked. The fish is delicious and they have south Melbourne dim sims which are great!

My needs in a fish and chip shop are simple. Delicious but not perfect food. Comfortable seating with a view of people walking by. Friendly but not obsequious service.
Salt Water Fish & Chips did all of that for me today on my first visit -- and I've tried others in the area.
The steamed dim sim had a thick, moist skin and wasn't overcooked -- another place nearby served me a mushy dim sim they should have discarded, which is bad economy because I won't go back to that place again. And it tasted good, but not perfect.
The hamburger (the lot minus bacon which I didn't want today) had tasty buns, held together and didn't fall apart on first contact, and tasted good, but not perfect.
There are plenty of nice wooden chairs and tables. Not the plastic don't-stay-too-long chairs you see elsewhere.
And the guy who made the hamburger was friendly and didn't arrogantly plonk the food on the counter for me to collect. Quite a refreshing change from the low standard many fish and chip shops seem to aspire (could despire be made a word?) down to.
And the view out the window? Satisfying is all I'll say.
their batter is always lovely and light, souvlakis are delicious, and always generous with their onion rings (which are a must try). the owners are also very kind! i was once very shortchanged but didn't notice, they actually picked up on it before i left and gave me the right amount! :) 10/10, any other fish n chip place is nowhere near as good!
Do: the great value seafood packs.
Don't: go to any other fish and chip place. This is arguably the best one in Bentleigh.
Tip: phone ahead and avoid the long queues.
The way fish and chips should be. Simple old fashioned beautiful fish and chips. Recommend it highly. Friendly staff, very clean and we Will be back for more.

Everything was fresh. Rockling / flake was beautiful, chips were tasty and the potato cakes were just as good. Was our first time and we'll be back!
I used to frequent this little eatery when I worked in the area. The usual fish and chip offerings with better variety of seafood. Not a big seafood fan, but the fish was very decent. Salmon is always gorgeously cooked!

What a find! Old skool style with family running the shop and some of the freshest fish available!! We came on a Sunday arvo just before the dinner rush, and managed to have a minute to talk to the owner who set the benchmark high, telling us the family had been building great shops for 25 years... He had our attention!
He kindly explained how they take delivery of their produce daily, and while they don't try to be fancy they believe in fresh produce and a little extra effort. Just a glimpse at the oil showed promising signs of things to come... Needless to say the owner's passionate explanation of how he started the business had my attention.
Well, he didn't disappoint! From the wild (not farmed) Barra, and the salmon that came out on a tray looking like something that would be fit for a sushi train, to the perfectly cooked chips that glowed golden brown, we were pumped to find this good old fashioned, fresh produce fish & chippery that left us filling full and content, but not oily. Thanks guys love your work!!

A spic and span fish and chippery, with great staff and friendly atmosphere, be sure to order early or you may find yourself waiting a while - these guys are popular!
The fish is incredible and, when combined with chips and salad, will feed even the hungriest of men. I have no idea how they keep their prices so low for this quality and freshness. Highly recommend!
The Place to eat. The food Was AMAZING.The Fish tasted like it was straight out of the ocean and onto the grill the staff are very friendly thank you. will definitely be back.

Stopped in on a cold Sunday night to be warmly met by the staff who were genuinely friendly. Decided to eat in because of the atmosphere. Food was great also, clean and tasty.
Our first time here, Service was super friendly, Ordered the Minimum chips for lunch-They were super crunchy & delicious! Loved seeing the fresh fish fillets on display & the salads looked super fresh; The shop also looked clean & inviting-Prices were good too. We will def be back to try their fish packs soon. Recommend.
Ive bought hamburgers and fish and chips here twice and have been happy twice. The chips were crispy and tasted like chips should taste! The hamburgers were amazing, as was the fish. A big surprise was the coffee, excellent. Service was great, very friendly. I really cant fault it and would recommend it highly!

No soggy chips. I have not eaten fish and chips at a store in forever but we sat in here and had the best in ages. The staff are so friendly, the oil is clean and the fish is to die for....well worth it.
The salmon was cooked prefectly, well worth the drive from Narre Warren, and the South Melbourne dim sims were an added bonus!!! I'll b back!!
Thought we'd try this new place- BY FAR THE BEST fish & cops we have had in years!! Fish the size it used to be years ago and not paper thin, chips and potato cakes yum .. And best of all.. NO fatty aftertaste that u can't get rid of once you have eaten!!! 10/10
