This is a nice little place located on flinders lane. I had a chicken Bahn Mi and a spring roll from here for lunch using Meal Pal. I was quite surprised with the flavor and texture and flavor of the Bahn mi. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, which is the exact way that it should be. There was a generous amount of chicken in the Bahn mi. But chicken tastes of satay sauce so it felt like a mix of Vietnamese and Thai flavors which was not bad at all. I will be back here to try more of their dishes for sure.

We have been here a couple of times now and both visits were very pleasant. The food was consistently delicious and prices were very reasonable.

For today, we had:
Chicken Vietnamese Slaw - the slaw was fresh and crunchy. The tender pieces of chicken were tasty and generously portioned. I'm a sucker for prawn crackers so the 3 pieces adorning the salad were devoured immediately. They were still nice and crunchy. There's nothing worse than stale prawn crackers.

Vietnamese chicken curry served with vermicelli. The curry was creamy and not overly spicy. Having it with the vermicelli was lovely.

Vermicelli noodle salad. This came with vegan spring rolls and tofu. Even though it was healthy, the entire package tasted amazing.

This must be what soul food tastes like in Vietnam!

I went to Viet Soul for a quick lunch with a colleague. The place is quite small but we managed to find a table fairly quickly, most people were using takeaway. I ordered a grilled pork vermicelli noodle salad and it was a fresh & crisp salad. The pork was cooked well too. I usually eat a whole lot of chilli and a few places seem to mind it but the staff here were quite accomodating in bringing me two extra serves (I know, don't judge!).

Overall a nice little place to grab lunch and good for the pocket $$ too. Recommended.

Dragged my viet colleague here and we both settled for the broken rice with grilled pork and sunny egg. There were so much more choices but we thought we'd settle this one first as there aren't many viet places around this end of town which does broken rice.

How was it? very niceee. Quite authentic. Pork chop was grilled nicely with lemongrass, egg was nicely fried and all sitting on a nice bed of broken rice (good size for lunch). Though my colleague reckons he could have eaten more. Only comment is the sauce which was thick fish sauce, bit on the salty side. This was due to it being cooked, rather than the usual orange coloured raw fish sauce. Vietnamese ice coffee also a pleaser, not too sweet but just a little on the expensive side I would say compared to other joints.

Shall be back for the beef stew, curry chicken and pho :)

We got takeaway broken rice and a beef pho from here. Prices were pretty reasonable at about $12 each, compared to some other places that are asking increasingly exorbitant prices for simple Vietnamese food.

The pho came with rare beef (that was mostly cooked by the time we got it, but that's to be expected with delivered food) and beef brisket. Both were quite good and a decent enough amount. The rare beef was sliced and plated properly so it wasn't a clump of meat like you may find in some other establishments. There were enough noodles for me, but it was only equivalent to a small/medium sized pho at other places. They didn't include a big bowl of soup, but it was also just about sufficient (pho soups are often full of MSG anyway).

I found the broken rice with pork chop and egg just average (it's difficult to go wrong with those). My wife, however, really liked it. The sauce tasted pretty nice and the yolk was just slightly runny.

We also had a side of spring rolls. These were shorter and fatter than the usual long and thin ones, and tasted pretty good. The skin was crispy and there was more filling than some others I've eaten.

Decent place for reasonably priced Vietnamese food.

A great find! Lovely little place with fresh & tasty food and friendly, quick service. I had a late lunch dining in, and ordered their signature lemongrass beef vermicelli salad and a Vietnamese iced coffee. The salad had a good balance of ingredients and especially nice noodles. I was happy that the iced coffee wasn’t overly sweet. I’ll definitely be back here.

Another day, another Bun destroyed.

This one ranks high folks. The beef (+ spring rolls) was selected. Really impressed with the beef. Quality and quantity. She doesn't look all that impressive from the outside Viet Soul, but the tucker is good. This Bun had the snappiness you look for with the veggies, but the heartiness/freshness as well with both the meat and noodles.

From a menu perspective it's fairly straightforward. One page, just the regular/staple Viet chow. This is good practice. The Dear Luncher will return to Viet Soul, no doubt about it.

Great service and lovely food. Well priced and extremely quick. Had a small mishap when picking up a catering order but their customer service skills made up for the mishap and had a lovely experience with Viet Soul.

I am a regular customer here. This restaurant has a good atmosphere and good service. Moreover, the food was amazing and tasty. I tried almost of the food here. However, my favorites were vermicelli salad and beef “Pho”. About “Pho”, the stock was tasty and pure. There was some optional of choices such as lemongrass chicken; grilled pork; lemongrass beef or tofu. I think all the meat was marinated carefully because those was so tasty and tender. I love lemongrass beef because it had a wok flavor. Totally, this is a great restaurant in my list.

A relatively new Viet place so everything was still newish and clean. Service staff were good, attentive and patient. Had the broken rice, which was one of the best I've had. The rice was cooked well, neither dry nor soggy. Not sure why other places can't get this right. The pork chops were flavoursome. The fish sauce was something else, very different to all other places, sweet, syrupy and addictive. The sugarcane juice was refreshing, not overly sweet with a hint of sourness from the included kumquat. Don't have to go to Footscray for sugarcane juice now. My friend had the vermicelli noodle salad with chicken and said it was very good as well. Will be back to try other dishes.

Unlike most Vietnamese restaurant, Viet Soul’s menu is short and concise. There’s no 888 different things on the menu, whereby you are rewarded with a minor migraine after wasting 10 minutes of your life contemplating what to order. At Viet Soul, you get the basics, followed by another concise drink menu, and an even more concise but non-Vietnamese related breakfast menu.

As we are experiencing an Australian summer, pho was never going to be an option for us. Broken rice it was then. Tiny fractured grains of rice, very tasty! The grilled pork was another highlight of the dish; tender and flavourful. Even the slightly sweet dipping sauce was great. Portion size and the amount of greens, however, were a bit small compared to other Vietnamese eateries.

The banh mi came with a lovely crusty and soft baguette, and was filled with the same delicious grilled pork. The other fillings were just adequate.

A simple and fuss-free feed indeed.
