Review Burger Basement - Melbourne

Ed A.
Been here a handful of times and it's been good on all visits thus far. The burgers are juicy and flavourful with a wide range of options for burgers. The fries are not too bad either. SOME of the staff could probably use some customer service training. Otherwise, not too bad.

Good solid burgers and great fries!!! We can't wait to go back and try the other burgers ☺️ Friendly staff and cool venue!

I always wanted to be here. I never got the chance. With my boys, we went there for a quick fix. The burgers were delicious. Buns are extra soft for the stuffing inside. Once you grab it, you can feel the ingredients inside. I had the Portuguese chicken burger. It wasn’t that chilly. I will come again to try their other burgers.

Will recommend to the locals of Pascoe Vale for a great healthy burger meal with fresh ingredients and good service. Thanks to the guys at Burger Basement for a lovely meal. p.s recommend the tower burger

Fried chicken burger is excellent and chips are good. But the beef burgers are not very good, the patties are a bit weird with texture almost like cheap sausage. Also, the milkshakes are terrible - ordered a chocolate one and it came out white as snow and tasting exactly like plain milk. Took it back and the girl assured me she'd put their usual 2 squirts of flavouring in (which for a cup that size is clearly nowhere near enough), and even after adding more it did not improve. If that's the kind of flavourless milkshake you like, you'd do better saving your money and just getting a bottle of milk from the corner store instead. I'd go back for the fried chicken burger but nothing else.

Visited on Sunday around 8pm. The burgers were cold, burger patty was kinda dry and not warm enough. Nothing extra ordinary. Costed me $25 in total for 2 burgers 1 small chips and can of coke. Most of the staff is like 18, may need more traning. This place is round the corner from my house. Probably will not visit again.

We got take away so we kinda expected the potato gems to be a little cold but it’s ok. We also had the double stack burger and The Porto ‘peri peri chicken salad’ which we absolutely love. Should have tried you earlier!

Fantastic local small business. The food is always fresh, on point and the service is always friendly. Can’t rate this place high enough!... 🍔🍔🍔🍔

The burger was cold and lettuce was wet and soggily

Tried the basement and double stacker. Both were really good!

With a good range of simple and more adventurous burgers Burger Basement is your ideal local burger bar! The inside of Burger Basement is bigger than it appears from the front. There’s...
Good Food Good Mood
We were invited to Burger Basement last night and while it was quite a long wait for our food (40 minutes) I was obsessed with the waffle fries upon their arrival, thoroughly recommend. The burger itself was a bit over cooked for me. I had the burger she wrote which was a lamb based burg as you don’t find those on every menu.

I added a fried chicken patty so I could try that also and was glad I did as the lamb patty was quite small. The chips are a very generous size and you definitely only need one to share. We greedily also tried the sweet potato which were yummy too. My dining companion got the tower burger which is a very impressive stack and somehow demolished it as well as a blue haven shake.

GREAT small business restaurant and delicious food! Great owner who creates a great menu!
Hello. Imnikki
Burger Basement is slinging delicious halal burger to the good people of Pascoe Vale, and how lucky are they. With an extensive range of burgers, sides, and also wraps for the health conscious, there's something for everyone here.

I shared the Lambo Burger with my partner and this was yummy as. The lamb patty was juicy, and oozing bold meaty flavours. The grilled onion added a touch of caramelised sweetness, which balance out the slight kick from the sriracha, and the mellow tzatziki sauce brought out the beautiful flavours of the lamb patty.

The lemon and herb chicken wrap that my partner stole a bite from was reported to be full of fresh and light flavours. A healthy alternative when you're not after burgers, but still want to eat at a burger joint.

Timinmelbourne enjoyed his Kentucky Special burger, and we all shared some chicken nuggets, peri peri cheese waffle fries and onion rings. The chicken nuggets were a crowd favourite, bringing back a wave of nostalgia eating nuggets as a kid. The waffle fries were smothered in gooey peri peri cheese, hence less crunchy than if ordered plain, but it was undeniably moreish.

Casual and friendly vibes all around, and we had a lovely meal that lined my tummy for our dessert adventure to follow. Thanks for having us!

My partner and I went to Burger Basement last night to meet some friends for dinner .

We ate a Kentucky chicken burger, loaded waffle fries, a lemon and herb chicken wrap, and chicken nuggets, and some onion rings.

And yes we were definitely sharing haha

My Kentucky chicken burger was delicious, the chicken was well cooked, the coleslaw was fresh and it was a really good burger. I had a chocolate milkshake which was cold and tasty.

The loaded waffle fries were really good but for me personally I think I like them plain as they are more crunchy.

The chicken nuggets were really tasty, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Yummo lol.

I tried the lemon and herb chicken wrap and this was delicious. The filling was fresh, the chicken hot and it had a nice sauce.

Overall this was a solid experience and this place is definitely worth a visit if your in the area.

Best burgers in the northern suburbs, will definitely be back, food came out quickly and was very fresh. Loved the gems and the kentucky burger, also quiet close to my home, Thanks for the service guys!

You would be spoilt for choice when visiting this popular burger joint in Pascoe Vale. They are best known for the tower burger and the basement. I loved the Kentucky special burger with southern fried chicken, tomato, lettuce, cheddar and special basement sauce. The waffle fries are delicious and a welcoming change from your standard fries. Another bonus for this place is that it’s 100% halal.

Well presented burger friendly staff and nice fitout.
Burger was good but missing the "x" factor.

If I had to make a suggestion.
For the customer: Remove the chutney from the double stack. It's a bit sweet and takes away from the burgers otherwise good taste
For the chef : Salt the Patty and have the grill hotter for a better Patty crust.
Also unless you are making real onion rings take them off the menu they cheapen your offerings.

Cheese was good as was " the basement sauce" which I assume is their take on big Mac sauce.

Also the bun was cold despite being grilled so maybe store the buns in a room temp area or heat them a little more.

Best burgers in the area! The Kentucky special is especially delicious with just the right amount of sauce and the chips are always perfect!

Oh wow!!! Got the classic burger and it was delicious. All fresh ingredients were used, no over the top seasoning. Very clean and tasty! Thankyou!!
Nikki
Just tried this for takeaway , presentation good and the snitch burger was nice. Calamari rings are the fake rings which I didn’t even think of at a burger place but makes sense. Overall was a nice meal but I have a thing on fake calamari rings so can’t rate over a 3/5. Good for local burger place.

Yes/no? Yes

I’ve been to a lot of burger places so I honestly found this to be similar to the rest. In saying that, the burger was nice.
the bun was soft, chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and it was a good size

Overall I would recommend for locals

This place is a hidden gem. The burgers here are spectacular. I have tried the burning beef and the basement but would highly recommend the The tower and potato gems. Pricing is slightly high but quality is also well maintained. The restaurant closes very early which is a major drawback.

Our first time visiting Burger Basement and we will definitely be back! Fantastic and friendly service and the burgers were delicious! Excellent value for money! Also lots of parking so very convenient.

I’ve long been on the pursuit for the perfect burger and my search is finally over. The basement burger (add jalapeños) from here is the number 1 burger in Melbourne. Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo because I ate it too quickly 😋

If you’re hungry and in the area it hits the spot. Burgers are average but the milkshakes are great.
Would I recommend to a friend ? Hmmm probably not.

Its one of those places that never stop to amaze you with its delightful food. Dropped by this outlet after getting overwhelmed with the desire to relish something delicious. Ordered waffle fries, The Tower and the Lamb burger. Everything was truly delicious. Cant wait to savour at this outlet again. Couldnt be more happier.

Highly underrated! Found this hidden gem in Pascoe vale and will be back 100%. Sampled the Cheeseburger with 2 extra patties, and one cheeseburger with added fried chicken. First of all the value is unbeatable. $11-12 for a triple patty burger is crazy. Loved the charred edges of the beef with a nice pink throughout the middle of the patties. This place is also Halal so everyone can get their fix. Why don't more places use halal meat?

Chris answered the phone and from the get go was uninterested like he was over his life. The food arrived an hour after I ordered, it was cold and went straight in the bin. Worst $40 I’ve spent in a long time. Burger basement, should rename themselves basement food, do not recommend at all.

It’s not bad but it’s a deep fried pattie, second time I’ve been here and although it was better than the cheese burger last time it’s not what I thought a Kentucky burger was, not bad but had a lot better

We came here for lunch on a weekday and the food was really delicious. I ordered a Classic with extra pickles (which they delivered on!) and my fiancé ordered the Kentucky. We also got some sweet potato fries, which were crunchy and very tasty. There are a lot of less than average reviews here and honestly, don’t believe them; even up against the likes of Grill’d and Huxtaburger, Burger Basement measures up really well.
XiaoHui Teo
Definitely have had better, love the sweet potato chips but the burgers were just average. The cleanliness of the restaurant definitely has a big room for improvement hence the rating.

I had the double stack beef burger and my partner had the tower burger. We both really liked our burgers and agreed they were very tasty, but too messy to eat; don't come here if you don't want to get your hands dirty. The fries were very average and the onion rings were decent. All in all, was a good place to have lunch and would come back again :)

Not great, definitely have had better. The burger patties tasted like basic cheap ones you would get from Coles or Woolies, so weren't impressed. The potato gems were nice though!

i ordered the basement burger with the lot it was nice the chips and calamarie wasnt the best. calamarie wasnt fresh chips were just not tasty. friend ordered the kfc style burger- she said it was just regular chicken snitzel style nothing fancy as the title suggests. the rest of the fillings were nice. would i come here again? yes but only for a burger not extras. service was nice and friendly. burger sizes generous
With so many burger joints popping up these days it's hard to be bigger and better than the competition. Having said that, Burger Basement lacked personality in their burgers and hot chips. The bread buns were very doughy and the meat patties had very little flavour. The relish isn't anything to write home about. The hot chips are not crispy and did not taste "fresh" in any way. For the price we paid, the whole meal was below average and a whopper meal from HJ would've provided more satisfaction. For the same quality I would rather go to any fish and chip shop but pay almost half the price instead.

My regular takeaway place, the burgers are so good and the sweet potato fries are AMAZINGGG!! so glad a good burger shop opened up locally.
The staff are so friendly and a great atmosphere,
Wouldn't go anywhere else 😃😃

Very good burgers, fries and shakes. Also busy so the area can be hard to park at if you go to the 7 11 parking area. Great for a casual date night.

Came here on a Sunday evening looking for a nice burger. I got the tower, and all in all, not that bad. Visually, it looks good and the taste was decent. However, the downside is that one, very tough to hold. Everything kept falling apart and I was pretty much forced to eat every component separately. The biggest problem was the chicken. I should've taken more care and had a look but I didn't, and the chicken turned out to be raw. That night was just a painful experience of vomiting and diarrhoea. Honestly, I would not be having a burger anywhere for a while. If I could give this place a 0 rating, I would've.

If you know a thing or 2 about burgers you will not enjoy Burger Basement. Their beef tasted like a sausage rather than a beef patty and their southern fried chicken was just a piece of chicken schnitzel, not southern fried at all.

I had a classic cheeseburger with extra jalapeños, fried chicken, bacon and cheese.
Solid 7/10

I'll start with the positives....
Decent size burger and value for money.
The burger came out in a good time.
The burger was tasty enough.
There isn't anything similar in the area.
The bread was fresh and not too sweet like other brioche style bread.

But the rest of the place needs fine tuning. Don't get me wrong it's not bad, the burger was still a 7/10, but these are small points I am picking at, which can only make them better.

The burger:
Cheese x 2 was not melted and slightly cold. You want American cheddar melted and kind of saucy.
Bacon had no sign of crisp. A crispy texture here would help overall.
The beef had a nice caramelised outside and was moist. I prefer pink beef patties, but this is probably the best I have had that was cooked all the way through.
Chicken was moist and tasty, but I am not a big fan of the crumb. (Personal preference) I prefer something like southern fried chicken or Panko crumb rather than the schnitzel style.

The venue:
The place had just opened approximately half an hour earlier, and everything was dusty, crumbs all over the floor, lights turned off. I wasn't sure they were even open.
The burger basement had a tv going with the Disney channel on it. Lighten the mood guys. Where is the music?
The girl behind the counter didn't smile once. She wasn't rude or anything but you kind of want to feel welcome.
I also think that condiments on tables would be a good thing. E.g. Ketchup/mustard/hot sauce. Maybe there was a condiment station? But I didn't see one.

All in all I am glad these guys are there. You can really make a name for yourselves since there is no one else in the area doing something similar. Sorry for picking on the fine details. Good luck!

The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the ketucky burger was amazing and the milkshakes are to to die for , check it out for yourself burger basement wont disappoint

What a gem!
Loved the Lambo Burger!!!
Great atmosphere, walking distance from my home and nice music and crowd.
Will definitely frequent the Burger Basement again....
O yes, great decor!

Good to have a decent burger joint in the area. Nice fit out, quick service. Had the lamb burger - not mind blowing but was tasty. Only fault was the burger was borderline stale.

The 'Double Stack' from the newly opened Burger Basement in Pascoe Vale, decent sized burger and very cheap at around $13.😁

Unfortunately the feeling of the venue was a bit of, but it is certainly something they can easily improve. The taste of the burger was fine, nothing special but for that price it is hard to find something at this level😋

Thank you for having us 🙏

It's great to have a burger place so close to home. I've been a couple of times and they do a really nice burger, although the buns are a little too sweet for my liking. The chips are nice, but serves could be a little bigger. All round it's great for when u want a change from a burger from a fish and chip shop!
Toni
I heard a review from my friend who had been here so checked it out. Burger was decent size and yummy, I ordered the Basement. I had small chips on side which was plenty with the too cheesy dipping sauce!! Will come back

Burger adventuring with @burgersofmelbourne lead out to Pascoe Vale to try and discover a new hidden gem!!

@burgerbasement have not been open long now but are pumping out solid burgers like this double with chicken. Shakes are very tasty and make sure you load up on the sides!! Loaded potato gems are 😍

Wow!!! Had "The Heart Attack" and it was as amazing as the picture on their Instagram. The chicken breast was succulent and complimented the patties and bacon perfectly. Be warned - not for the faint hearted nor the small appetites!
