Four of my friends and I really enjoyed our lunch here today. Very generous servings and amazing flavours loved by all. Chai was great too! We will definitely be back!

If you are looking for a delicious healthier alternative at brunch this is it! The detox salad is so big and comes with halloumi, avocado a poached egg, beetroot, a detox shot and more! It was super filling and delicious! I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty and filling it was!
Happy as Larry is the best cafe in Mentone. We were in the neighbourhood for charity work and stopped by for a meal - and wow, what a treat! The decor is gorgeous and the space opens into a beautiful courtyard. The food is very pretty and flavourful - I had the poke bomb with soba noodles, salmon, kimchi, and the works. Will definitely be back if we are in the area again!

Love this café in Mentone! Such a great seating area, indoor and out! Service is great, such a friendly team.
We enjoyed a coffee and fresh juice, as well as some delicious fries and a VEGAN SUPER SALAD. The salad was seriously impressive, it was like a mountain, piled high with fresh and vibrant veg. I felt so full and satisfied after, would definitely recommend!
Would love to go back and try some more dishes, the menu is varied and changes often so there is always something exciting to find!
We found this local gem by accident and has become a regular weekend lunch outing for my partner and I.
We noticed the food is the best when the owner is in- he's in the kitchen and unfortunately we forgot to ask his name but he's super friendly when we spoke to him and complimented the food.
My favourite dish is their fritters And my partner loves their breakfast burrito! The portions are also generous and we leave more tyan satisfied everytime
The only negative was a few weeks ago we went there with a friend and a waitress told us they didn't serve coffee. When we asked another staff member, she looked at us funny saying that coffee is their speciality. But maybe the other waiterss was new or misunderstood.
I reccomd you come and visit this humble outlet for some delicious food!
Friendly staff. Food is really amazing. But the weather was around 30 yesterday and really need to turn on the aircon to have a bit cold breeze. Pretty sure will go there again !
We really enjoy the food here. The Benedict is rich and with perfect poached eggs. We tried the pan fried gnocchi once which was divine but sad we haven’t seen it on the menu since. I’ve also had the dosa which was also delicious. They can do no wrong as far as food! The only reason this isn’t five stars is because the front door makes this extremely high pitched squeaking noise (like nails down a chalkboard) each time it’s opened and makes sitting inside unpleasant. Hopefully they fix it soon!

Really enjoyed our breakfast. I had the Benedict and my boyfriend had the sweet potato, beetroot, salmon and dill croquettes. It was delicious. Highly recommend the food. One of the better egg benedicts I have had and the potato rosti was really tasty and not too oily or overcooked. The sweet potato, salmon and dill, was nice and refreshing. The flavors went well together and the salmon wasn't too salty. Only downside was it was really cold inside the cafe and the coffee wasn't very good, tasted a bit burnt.
Great menu good strong coffee and attentive staff with a kids menu and all within walking distance so very happy.
We will certainly be returning fairly regularly.
I went to Happy as Larry with my girlfriend on a Sunday afternoon. We sat in the courtyard area out the back which was very cozy, despite it being a cold day. We are both vegetarians and were very impressed with the number of veggie options on the menu. We had the Cauliflower salad and the fritters and both were amazing - big servings too! The staff were friendly and attentive without being pushy. The coffee wasn’t great but the food more than made up for it! Will definitely be coming back.
Good food, great service, a new local gem! Will be back for sure, an amazing large courtyard out the back and great rooms for prams. Love the open kitchen.

Recently opened and some places have teething issues, but these guys have done their research! The quality and presentation of food is up there with Melbourne standards - pretty, delicious, varied menu, decent serving sizes and good prices. Certainly needed in the area and definitely a place we will be taking visitors to!
Eggs benny was impressive! Not for the ‘peckish’ person! Decent potato hash with tasty pulled pork and hollandaise. I ordered the sweet potato croquets - was a bit nervous as i was pretty hungry, but even though theyre a long set of 3, they filled me right up! Very tasty too. Id almost say you could have them just with a second egg as I didnt feel the salmon offered much (beyond additional cost to make!) The waffles looked very pretty and I was told they were delicious...but I didnt get in quick enough before the plate was practically licked clean!!
Hot choc was strong and tasty...but no marshmallow!!! Good coffee, especially in the small/standard, but a bit weak in the mug size. Perhaps needed an extra shot.

A cute little space with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor space has a kids corner filled with toys and a cubby. It is outdoor but shaded well from the wind/rain/sun.
Menu is great, lots of options. Kids menu had a few varieties as well.
The front display is filled with goodies and wraps top.
Toilets onsite as well as change facilities and highchairs.
Street parking.
No outside food was permitted.
Coffee is great, friendly staff and crab scramble egg is the best in town. Overall, nice cafe for breakfast and lunch.
Highly recommend for great cafe at Mentone as it is enough space for children to play also pet friendly. Exceptional foods and coffee.
