Review The Yard Cafe - Mermaid Beach

Amazing food, friendly smily staff, great location with the best enviroment for families, kids, big groups due to the size and long tables outdoors not to mention it is pet friendly! Fair price for delicious and decent servings! Best coffee in the area no doubt! Long happy hour drinks with most beers, spirits and wines for just $5, perfect for functions, events and big grouos gatherings. Worth checking it out for sure, we definitely coming back heaps, been our local since we moved to the area.

Backyard Cafe is located at Nobbys on the Gold coast, food was pretty good but for 2 people cost us $60 for 2 coffees and breakfast/ Brunch, I had the big breakfast and my wife had the smah avo add mushroomd, service had a wait time of 30mins for food. The place is a bit run down with the tables being a bit of a hazard and need to be replace. Pets are welcome.

Friendly staff and meals were delicious Eggs on toast with extra avo and hollandaise sauce.

Beautiful backyard in the sun, but the breakfast was definitely not great. I ordered poached eggs on toast, with a side of spinach and some Vegemite .. sadly my poachies were served on the side of some “toast” that I think had been cooked 30 mins prior resembling more of a biscuit than the sourdough I was sold, and the $3.50 side of spinach was literally just spinach.. not cooked, straight out of the bag. I also then had to ask for my trusty Vegemite and butter..again.

Enjoyed brunch here with a large group we all had a great time. Tasty food, plenty kids space out back, friendly staff. It's a good option!

Omg. Green bowl of deliciousness. I think it's the yummiest thing I've eaten this year. The serving size was on the small size.. Or maybe it's because I could have eaten it forever it was so good. Going back tomorrow for another bowl.

I just want to send the biggest thank you to Victor and the bubbly beautiful bar staff for accommodating myself and my friends on Saturday, you made my birthday so extremely special (and stress-free) beyond words and everyone has told me how much they loved the venue and your team 🤍 I will continue to speak very highly about The Backyard and couldn’t recommend them more for an affordable, fun, and tasty venue to have events!

New year catch up with another couple for a coffee. We seated inside and found the music a bit too loud as we needed to raise our voice to chat. I had an iced coffee, my partner had a flat white and the couple had long black. They all tasted good. You have to tell them you want ice cream for your iced coffee when you make your order, as normally there’s no ice cream or cream for their iced coffee. It’s ok for coffee meet up and we’ll try outdoor seats next time.

Your cafe was a waste of time, 3 orders later, still carn't get it right. 1 order they had forgotten altogether. Manageress cannot get an order right???? I have Coeliac disease, so my order has to be spot on.... Then to top it off, offered 25% of the bill, in my opinion it should have been on the house..... What do you think??????

A rustic yet chic Australian style café is how I would describe The Yard. With open air indoor seating as well as an Alfresco area out the back, this café provides the perfect setting to catch up with friends and family over a perfectly poached egg. Actually, all their breakfast options are pretty awesome and also served at lunchtime – which makes the Ninja prettyyyyy happy! Enough about breakfast…I almost forgot to mention (in my opinion) their pièce de résistance, the tacos! Oh and don’t forget to grab yourself an Allpress coffee to satisfy that caffeine craving.

The Yard Cafe...! as you can't complain about the service as there is non. Was a great place to eat. I have been going there since it opened meeting business colleagues or just catching up with friends. I find myself eating breakfast at least 5 days per week. <br/><br/>This morning I decided to go there after my morning run. I understand places get busy though when the two girls who were serving ignore you and don't approach the table where I was sitting directly in front of the counter is bullshit. It's not hard for a trained staff member to acknowledge you and say I will be with you soon. Instated I sat there for 20 minutes. I approach the counter and I asked the girl do you still have table service, she replied yes I will be with just take a seat. I said I have been sitting there while 10 customers were served take away coffee. <br/><br/>Not good enough guys as I recommend your Cafe to a lot of friends though now there will be other places getting my money weekly for better service. Stumbled across this great place whilst staying at Mermaid Beach.<br/>They have 4 different spaces: kerbside, front room, back room, courtyard.<br/>The cool spot depends on the time of day.<br/>Great attentive staff.<br/>Good coffee.<br/>2 french rosé on the wine list.<br/>

Love the vibes here, especially during the morning coffee rush :) it's spacious but busy at the same time. Menu is simple and healthy with some unique dishes, food are well cooked and I love how everything is served, kind of rustic yet beautiful. Shakshuka is delicious, my first time having it! The outdoor area is great for family with a small playground for kids.

A great breakfast - reasonably priced, great service and ambience. Highly recommend the granola and coffee. I can't wait to come back to try their lunch menu.

LOVE The Yard! Always really great coffee and delicious food, the tacos especially have become a bit of an obsession! We bring clients here for meetings as well as just enjoying eating here with family and friends. Friendly knowledgeable staff too and never anything other than a great experience. One of our faves on the Coast.

There’s an all-day grazing menu divided into ‘egg’ items, dips and olives, proteins, other dishes, salad bowls, things to share and cuca tins. The range of dishes is huge, (enough to suit every budget and appetite), mostly Mediterranean-influenced fare, very well sourced unfussy food. Classic but different, too, which we like, with dishes we’d come back to enjoy again...when singer Matt Armitage starts the Sunday Sesh at 2pm, we enter chill out zone – bluesy and relaxed. Couples arrive for an afternoon drink and nibbles, someone sets up their iPad to read a book, others are doing the Allpress coffee chat thing out the front, and by now we’re looking for a couch for a nap! With exceptionally friendly, attentive service from our waiter Tim, it’s been very relaxing to spend a few hours in this great little café.

Coffees weren't hot enough and weak, the food lacked flavour, and be careful with the baghdad egg dish the olives aren't pitted and could cause problems. Overall very underwhelmed by both the food and coffee.

Great coffee, interesting menu, super friendly and attentive service. Love the kids playground out the back. Came for brekky, lunch and coffees more than once so it must have been pretty deece because we always vote with our feet

Fresh, good quality food cooked with high skill. Beautifully put together menu with friendly and attentive wait staff. Gorgeous and clean decor. One of the best in the Gold Coast by far!
