Review Taylors Art & Coffee House - Middle Swan

Had a delicious family breakfast at Taylor's in the Valley this morning. The meals were absolutely delicious and filled with a lot of flavour and fresh ingredients. (Picture below is the big breakfast, pulled pork, zucchini fritters and shakshuka). Highly recommend dining here if you are headed to the Swan Valley.

Food was great. Very yummy. Everything we ordered were very nice. Great parking space. This place feels like a little musuem. Plenty of seating available.

Excellent food! Samboy (fried chicken breast on waffle) is one of the best I’ve! Latte is good. Service is good and attentive. Only downside I can think of is they have 3 great kids option but no child utensils. Not an issue for us.
Melissa Soh
I got the lemon & thyme marinated mushrooms w hummus on sourdough toast for 21 AUD. Not a vegan but I can tell you this was one of the best meals I had after spending 2.5 weeks in WA 😹 I didn’t have much expectations because lemon and thyme with mushrooms sounded strange but it was really good! Hummus was fresh and yummy too. Flat white was above average as well! Would definitely return if I’m back again. Friend had the chicken and waffles and commented that while the chicken was good, the waffles tasted frozen… 5 stars still for the mushroom dish!

The food was great, we love the outdoor space and decor, it brings back to our childhood memories of our late grandad's seaside ice factory. Service was good too. Worth a visit.

Visited this place after a hike with my husband. My first time here and i was amazed. Great ambiance, food and coffee! Definitely coming back to try other food 😁

Very idyllic setting with the trees and old style rustic decor- staff were friendly, food was fantastic portion and price wise. Delicious chai latte and iced matcha lattes in particular. Good range of vegan options as well! Would definitely visit again. Pictured is the rose and coconut sago (delicious!) , Iced matcha lattes, hash browns and a deliciously healthy portion of fries.

"Taylors in the Valley" in Swan Valley has a vegan/vegetarian menu. I had the vegan "full plate" which was very nice. Beautiful venue with outdoor seating which is nice and spaced out so you can socially distance. Had a great experience 🙂

I booked this place for mothers’ day lunch last Sunday, as I recall it was quite a good lunch spot three years ago, the last time i was there. The food was not good at all. It was unanimous across the table, even my mum, and grandma, who are NOT fussy eaters had to admit it was terrible. My frittata had NO flavour, i really believe they forgot to season it. The salad accompanying the frittata had two to three small flakes of shaved parmesan and was very bland and the dish was not served hot. I ordered the plum quince cheesecake, which i believe may have been sitting there for a fee days at least, for it to taste the way it did. I ate the buscuit base because that was the only okay part. My poor grandparents who ordered two dishes, intending to take leftovers home, opted against it. My brother who is a chef was quite shocked by quality of the food and said it seemed that the food was definitely not made with and love and care. I know it was busy cause of mothers day (we couldn’t even get the table i booked outside because people just weren’t leaving) but i really think this is no excuse. This is an honest review, the quality of the food served needs to be looked at. I usually can’t be stuffed reviewing places, unless it’s to say something extremely positive or extremely negative, unfortunately this falls in the negative category. I do hope my comment is not deleted.

Went for brunch this weekend with my frienf Amanda who is a regular. Such a welcoming place. Loved the outdoor space. Jude Taylor's artwork, homewares and scarves are beautiful. Food was fab; staff were friendly and I loved the recycled/upcycled vibe. Will definately go back.

First time visit and certainly not the last. Travelled from Waroona (2hrs-well worth it) to meet up with family, great place full of quirkiness, food excellent and staff were great. Great venue great food and great company finished with heaps of laughs at Annies Vintage with the wonderful Annie. Thanks everyone for an awesome day x

First time at this cafe - lovely cafe garden, great for our dog to relax too. The staff were great and came to pat our dog. The coffee is as advertised - great - and the texture of the lemon cake was so moist - it was divine. Definitely be back to this rustic cafe.

The food is always great here, fresh and delicious. It is one of our favourite places for breakfast and lunch. I love the quirkiness of the decor and wandering through the Jude Taylor gallery - I have bought lots of things from there as well and sent them all over the world. I highly recommend Taylor’s.

It's one of the best in Perth Rustic Wholesome Food Relaxed atmosphere Quirky Cool and just an all round fave!!!!! This quickly becomes your go to place to eat and hang.... ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

Too many delicious looking cakes to choose from. I had the gluten free Lemon and ricotta cake, it was very nice. The lemon was not overpowering like other cake I have had and not too dense. The coffee is strong like you say but not in a bad way, I really enjoyed it. The customer service was really great, everyone was lovely and friendly.

Had a work function here yesterday. Staff were invisible (in a positive way - they took orders, delivered food and drinks, collected dishes). Meals came out very quickly, especially for such a large table, and my dish was amazing!!! All enjoyed their food. Lovely rustic setting and plenty of vegetarian/vegan options.

I came here with my family for breakfast this morning. My coffee came out in a cup when I asked for a mug which was a little disappointing. My cornbread was lovely, the avocado and poached egg were perfect. I ordered extra bacon on the side which was like rubber. A few of us had the carnivore meal and said they were disappointed with their meals (more rubbery bacon). My nieces had the pancakes and were very pleased (yay). I was expecting it to be a ten out of ten breakfast but sadly it was not meant to be. It was just ok.

What a quirky awesome lovely little place, with wonderful friendly staff, can't rate it high enough. Will definitely be back.

Lovely Coffee House, very friendly waiter bringing beautifully cooked breakfast, loved it. Well done, keep up the good work. (Bought one of your beautifully printed tea towels too, will remind me of my visit every time I use it) x

Our #1 weekend breakfast place in the Swan Valley. The best food, amazing service, awesone setting. #loveit

Loved it!! First time here and it's a week day do I expect the week ends would be rather busy. Lovely goo old tin shed Australiana theme. Wooden pot belly stove wofting that comforting familiar smell throughout the cafe announcing to all that winter is now here!! Lots of lovely artefacts and Studio items to look at and buy. Outside just as interesting with knooks & crannies all About the place to sit. A big sand pit for kids to play in our back and generally a great place to come and hangout in.. we had buckwheat pancakes which were delicious and the coffee is perfect! Now back to the city and reality!See you again soon.

Great food amazing coffee beautiful surroundings. Perfect place to have breakfast, brunch or lunch. I big spacious outdoor area don't feel crowded when there are groups of people at every table.

Must have drove by here (on the GNH) a thousand times and never spotted it, only when trolling for dog friendly venues did it pop up. Lovely country place and food, and big bonus being dog friendly. Annies place another added bonus.
Karen Webb
We had the most beautiful brunch here today. The food and drink was amazing, the service exceptional. A lovely relaxed atmosphere, we will definitely be visiting again

I love this place. I rarely have anything negative to say about it. The service is friendly. The food is delicious, the coffee is in my top 5 in all of Perth, it has a lovely caramel flavour, never burnt or bitter. Although sometimes my coffee comes out after ive finished my food when i dine there during peak times which is disappointing. The dining areas and surrounds are beautiful. That rustic dining experience is something i live for, makes me feel very comfy and at home. On this particular occasion I came to Taylors right on opening time (7:30am). The gentleman that served me was friendly and accomodating. I ordered the baked custard fruit and granola bowl, which has become my favourite thing to order from Taylors. Its like having dessert for breakfast! The custard was deliciously creamy, smooth and cold. The seasonal fruit on top was nice and ripe, sweet and refreshing, and the macadamia granola is to die for! I ate every bite and even considered licking the bowl! I will be coming back to Taylors over and over again. The Annies Vintage Wonderland on premises adds an element of extra excitement too! So nostalgic.

The two stars are purely for good service (our waitress was lovely and the guy at the front counter was great, super polite) and nice location/ atmosphere.

The food, although it was very healthy (which we usually like) this doesn't mean it needs to taste like uncooked cardboard mixed with Homebrand kitty litter (unused... used would have had more flavour). I ordered the tart of the day and my sister ordered the Chickpea burger.

The tart of the day was exactly as I imagined it... a 76 year old lady of the night who has seen better days. It was dry, tasteless and felt like I was eating a brown paper bag with an old mushroom in it.

After attempting to send back uncooked chips that came with the chickpea burger once, they were brought out in the same bowl 5 minutes later, slightly warmer but still horrible, it made me question if she just took them out back, farted on them and brought them back.

The "Brioche" bun left a lot to be desired, it was as dry and tasteless as Helen Hunt's career. Also the chunk of lettuce in the burger looked like Sewage and was clearly older than I am.

In saying that, whatever was inside the burger itself was quite nice but I think you can pick them up from Coles for $3.

The water was nice.

Go here for your Instagram shots but pick up some Maccas on the way home.

Taylor's is our go to place in the Swan Valley for lunch and sometimes for breakfast. We rarely select of their menu and tend to go for the black boards specials which always include a range of tarts and frittatas. And....they're always good. I don't know what they put in their pastry but it so buttery and flaky and delicious I'm pretty sure it would be good without any filling in it. This is one of the few places in the Swan Valley where lunch will cost you under $20. Shame there aren't more. It is very rustic and some people won't like sitting outside because of that. Oh, the road noise is a major bummer (as is the noise from the occasional goods train) but there isn't a lot they can do about that given they're on the Great Northern Highway. Annie's Vintage is worth a wee looksee while you're there too.

I've been meaning to check Taylors Cafe in Swan Valley out for a while now as I heard its a nice family run quirky little cafe with plenty of Vegan options on the menu.

So I came here one Sunday with friends, it was a little chilly so we found a nice spot inside. The decor style is very Kitsch and there is a lovely area to sit outside which would be nice on a warmer day.

Its a nice little quirky place, with lots to look at and also a family run textile shop and gifts.

Their website states ''At Taylor’s Cafe we are passionate about fresh, organic food and quality coffee. We pride ourselves on offering great hospitality in a uniquely Australian setting''. - The organic food wasn't something that was well promoted in the cafe, I wouldn't have known about this if it was not for their website

I noticed they had lots of vegan options or veganisable options on their menu and cater for lots of dietary requirements which is really great. Their menu is simple, nothing fancy.

I Spotted a Vegan Brownie in the cake cabinet and ordered it with a Soy Cappuccino. The Brownie came out first....but a non vegan brownie with cream on the side so I had to get the waitress to take it back even though I specified the Vegan brownie. The Brownie was stale and very compact / heavy.

My coffee arrived 10 minutes later, not with the cake so I had to wait to eat it and my friend's Coffee didn't arrive at all so we had to reorder it. The waitress brought out one coffee at a time.

On a positive note, The coffee was very good though and a real nice blend and came out piping hot.

The food came out really quick and I ordered The Veg-o-Rama Breakfast which was grilled zucchini, Taylors beans, slow roast mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, spinach, grilled zucchini, avocado & New Norcia sourdough toast. which was $25.90

Unfortunately it was nothing special and very average. The toast appeared to have been fried. The food wasn't plated very well and definitely not worth $25.90 (also I had a look at their website and their prices and menu are all wrong. it needs updating) There was a lot of food there though and was big enough to share with my partner.

The veggies were bland and there was way too much thyme on the mushrooms, which was over powering The tomatoes were undercooked and hard. Its the sort of style of food id expect at a greasy spoon cafe, but a little healthier.

I wouldn't avoid this place, but I definitely wouldn't come back here in a hurry.

#perthveganeats #perthfoodblog

Very quaint setting in the swan valley. Friendly and warm staff. Coffee was too weak for my liking, but was served in a timely fashion and temperature was good.

Broccoli fritters were very under whelming, dry and mostly stalks used as a filler.

Taylor’s burger was delicious and very well seasoned.

Wanted to drop in for breakfast, but by the time gf and i got into the swan valley we were too late for breakie and had to order from the lunch menu.

Couldnt say it was a good as the breakfast experience we had almost a year ago.

Smoothies we nice but warmed up rather fast in the warm day, japanese pancake that looked like a huge omlette was okay, chips were abit boring.

Happy bowl was fresh, but felt like it was just various things assembled on plate.

Breakfast is probably where it is at, we will just need to get there earlier next time.

When we were in Perth last Christmas, my side of the family decided to do something fun and head out to do a self drive tour of the Swan Valley, led by my brother who knew where to go and what to do. We stopped in Taylors Art & Coffee House for lunch, where we ate delicious food and the kids had an open space to run around burning off their energy. It's a popular spot for a good reason.

Breakfast was very good. You'll definitely want more than just one coffee so make sure you have time to sit and enjoy a long breakfast. Went on a cold winters day so it was lovely to sit inside with a toasty wood fire. Would love to come back on a sunny day and have arvo tea outside
Greenplategirl
We have been here a few times and this was our first time for a weekend breakfast. It was very busy & a bit confusing trying to order and trying to explain that we didn't have a table number (because they hadn't given us one!) We had 3 pancakes.. pretty standard and nothing very exciting, was hoping for something a bit different to the usual cafe pancake. We will come back again but probably not for a weekend breakfast.. I would rather stay home.

I cannot rate this place any higher, I absolutely love it. It has to be my favourite local eating spot. The service, the quality of food, the coffee, the rustic ambience, perfect!

Our latest dining experience was amazing. I ordered the Pumpkin Patch, which I normally do, and was perfect as always. Perfectly dressed and seasoned. Their coffees are also some of the best in Perth, Ive never once had a coffee that I didnt enjoy! A family member who was dining with us was the last to receive his food, waitstaff came out to tell him that they had to clear out the kitchen prep area to prepare food for someone with extreme allergies, so his would be late out, which they apologised profusely and offered him a free large coffee, which was lovely, and food arrived only moments later which was great also.

I also want to dote over the woman that works in the little vintage shop outside, she is absolutely lovely! We went for a browse whilst waiting for our food to arrive (we were sitting at the table right at the shops entrance) and the she was so helpful. We were even reminiscing about old childhood things that were sold in the shop, and she even came out to our table when she found something in the store we might be interested in. Very good customer service.

So as you can see, i really love this place! =D
Whitney May
Delicious food, delightful waiters who seem to genuinely love their job, fast service even on Saturday morning prime time, lovely ambience. Highly recommend for breakfast.
Caitlin Taneal Capes
Best pancakes in Perth!

My favourite cafe in Perth. It has the best surroundings, especially in winter. It feels like a small slice of down south heaven (minus the 3 hour drive.)
MJ Amerito
Great place, staff were very accommodating to try and get us inside and out of the weather despite not having a booking. Food was delicious, full of flavour and the whole menu looked enticing. Portions are a bit on the small side, but meals are cheap. I'd rather pay a bit extra and get a bit more food! Will definitely be back to try more dishes though!!
Onlythe Tastematters
Good atmosphere, but terrible terrible food. I'm not wsure why the reviews below are so positive. I had the mushroom risotto with chicken and the fritata without salad. the fritata was too much potato for my liking. the risotto wasn't quite risotto. the rice was still hard and both of us struggled to finish our portions (they were generous for the price though).

perhaps this place is not so good for lunch or perhaps it was christmas eve and the kitchen wasn't staffed right. i usually give second chances but this one was pretty bad and i won't be coming back here again.
Ian Baxter
Great place for Sunday brekkie- delicious, reasonably priced food & good coffee & service. Fantastic rustic setting, inside & out. Magnificent gum tree to sit under & enjoy the morning sun.
Pravy
came here for brunch. ordered the risotto, the feta tart and the veggie burger. food was very delicious. value for money. coffees were equally as good. they ran out of the chocolate tea on the day but will definitely visit again. highly recommend if you're in the area.
Hippo309
Lovely place. The brekky sandwich was yummy! Service was alright. Probably because it was so busy on a Sunday morning, the food and drinks took quite a while.
Jay Gordon
Taylors is one of our favourites, the food is great, but for some reason the coffees are hit and miss. Some days we get real good ones and others they're quite sour/bitter. Service is good, staff are really friendly, the cakes and expensive but delicious!
Thekittaysmeow
Creative rustic menu and friendly and attentive staff. Unfortunately the Moussaka was tasteless and sloppy and the Croque Monsiuer was nothing special... toast was farrr to thick to enjoy and ilI like mine thick! Wouldn't bother to visit again based on what I ate.
Food Lover
Great cosy place cafe in swan valley.
The coffee is one of my best on the area and the orange and chocolate cake is fair and not as expected.
Wintersolstice
Charming, down to earth and cosy place. Clearly much loved as it's always so busy. Food is consistent and the staff are so friendly. I've enjoyed everything immensely!
Mr Robot
The atmosphere here was just amazing! We were seated outside in perfect autumn weather, where it was not too warm or not too cold. The setting added to a very laid back and relaxed feel and I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent here. The food was relatively good and the coffee commendable. I'd definitely come back here for the great vibes.
Evonne
Cosy setting. Friendly service. Food was standard fare - pancakes, veggie big breakfast and bean/feta smash. Nothing creative but seemed fresh.
Amanda Tan
love the place! really cosy inside for colder days and beautiful outdoors when it's warmer. food was well made, coffee was good except that they used a soy milk that curdled badly. friendly and helpful staff. will be back to try the baked goods as they looked so tempting on display!
Maya Ramesh
Love this place! :) Food is good, coffee is great! Great regular place, with amazing service. I'd definitely recommend this place to more people. Strange to not see Riley there anymore!
Mel Scott
We go here nearly every second year for mothers day because my mum loves the pancakes. Unfortunately today marks the day we break the cycle after an average experience. 10 of us dined and I'll admit the pancakes never fail to please us all with their fluffy consistency and freshness of the berries. I was wite happy with the herbivore meal as the eggs were poached beautifully and veggies were again, vibrant and local produce but their were complaints around the table about the smashed avocado meal being drowned in too much avocado and rocket. The coffee was the biggest disappointment. Firstly, they bought over the wrong coffee order but when we received the right order they tasted bitter with a stale after taste. We tried to ask for fresh cups in the hope the barrista had just made a bad coffee under the pressure of such a busy day and were denied after the waiter explained it was just a new coffee bean they were trying that was 'meant to be bitter'. As someone who works in hospitality myself, I cannot forgive the denial to give us, as paying customers, a refund, apology or replacement for bad food. We won't be back anytime soon.
Coffeeandcrochet
Lovely spot for breakfast especially with kids! Sandpit and toys, along with gardens and sculptures to explore keeps them entertained until the food comes. Loved the 'eggs fabulosa'. Great to have a specials board for breakfast too, with some different options to the standard offerings. The cake cabinet looks divine, and the salted caramel banana milkshake sounded delicious I'll have to try that next time!
Beanie
I often meet friends for lunch here (their choice). I absolutely love gnocchi and occasionally make my own ricotta gnocchi and Taylor's is almost as good but the serving size for $24 is tiny! Always have to have dessert afterwards and the desserts are always great. Tried the chop salad with steak strips once but found it bland and tasteless. Last visit I was charged $6 for a glass of lemon lime and bitters which seemed excessive?
Service is good
InMyFaceHole
Went here for Sunday breakfast with a gf. We arrived at 9am and got one of the last tables so definitely best to book! The staff were all very friendly. We ordered at the counter and I think our food took about 30 mins to arrive (apparently there was some mix up in the kitchen, but we didn't even notice). I found it a bit unusual that my coffee arrived after my breakfast but again, it didn't matter. Food was ok, I had the avo smash. Nothing spectacular and a small serve for $17. Probably wouldn't bother to go back and no real complaints, everything was fine.
BrittanyA
My family and I go to Taylor's on the regular and they never disappoint! Had the cornbread for the second time and it was just a good as the first time!! So yummy
The Chefs Wife
I’d heard great things about Taylors and have been keen to try the Swan Valley brunch spot for some time. Taylors Art and Coffee House is found in a rustic building, which has charming little nooks to sit in – like a corrugated iron water tank – it feels like you could be in an outback oasis.
JP
Had lunch here today, the service was reasonably quick, I ordered the Taylor burger which was really nice and quite filling. The outdoor atmosphere was really good too. Would return
Real Foodie
After carpark there was a small junk area which was smelling very bad. Food was ok compared to prices. We sat for 10 min and no one came to clean our table. Had to wait for 30 min after we ordered our food.
Fool2614
This has become a breakfast favourite. The food is high quality and prepared with care and attention. The balance between flavour and texture is simply wonderful. When you meet Carolyn you will see the soul in the food
Kara Prout
Great staff, WONDERFUL food and coffee and with a cute little vintage store on site - what more could you ask for? Would highly recommend the drive out to see the gallery and cafe.
TheSoloAvocado.com
This place is trying hard to have a thrown together look on a ramshackle property. It barely convinces me. Perhaps it looks less grim on a sunny, bright day. We had lunch from a scant menu, both choosing the burger option. The burger itself was very nice but the side of oven baked chippies were a disappointment, as was the slaw. For the price, the meal was not up to scratch. The coffee was also disappointing, having a gritty feel and a caramel taste. The service was good and the cake selection looked inviting, although we opted to eat cake elsewhere.
Xxx
Wait for 40mins and i got a plate of sh*t and it cost $17?! The cream on the rocket and the pesto just taste bad. I will not come back again. (It's pumpkin open sandwich)
TutuFloss
Oh dear! Having last been to this rustic place about 2 years ago, we decided to treat my mum to lunch on her 87th birthday. Our experience this time doesn't make us want to go back again! We'd booked for 11:30 and arrived a bit early. The table was just being vacated, which us fine but then we had to ask the waiter to clear everything away as he didn't seem to see things in front of him. We were told we'd have to wait to order as the staff needed time to switch from breakfast service.
Fine, we thought, we'll have coffee etc. When the drinks came, the flat white was covered in what looked like dishwater froth, and the large macchiato was instead a very small espresso/ristretto - no milk to be seen (check Wiki for description). Oh dear! Luckily, 2 of us had opted for lemon, lime & bitters.
Eventually joined a long queue to order our lunches. When they came, the Savoury Tart was bland - you could not taste the blue cheese at all and the pastry and filling were overbaked. The Frittata was way too big and also bland - again, not a hint of the goat's curd could be tasted. The Chicken salad was overpriced - see comment on salad below. The Taylor's burger was apparently OK - just OK. The salad in the $24 Chicken salad and as a $6 extra on both the Tart and Quiche plates was basically a Coles/Woolies lettuce mix, with a few cubes of roasted pumpkin and sliced pear thrown in. Wow, we could hardly contain our excitement!
When we ordered another lemon, lime & bitters, the price had jumped up by 50 cents. Again, oh dear and anyway wasn't it a button on the electronic cash register? Felt sufficiently annoyed to ask for a refund by this stage!
Needless to say, we didn't stick around for dessert or more drinks.
All in all, really disappointed. Like so many of the other reviewers point out, Taylor's point of difference is the rustic setting. Just a pity they don't follow through with better quality meals or a properly trained barista.
Been here for breakfast many times. A bit of a drive for me but totally worth it. My definition of hearty home style cooked breakfast. Their in house cooked baked beans are to die for. The coffee bliss. Surroundings chilled to the maximum. I sit outside and let my 2 year old well just be a 2 year old. There vegetarian cooked breakfast is also fantastic and even though I'm a carnivore I have opted for the veggie option and been pleased.. Put this place in your diary for a lazy weekend breakfast.
Gabrielle Trenbath
and I love the café dog that potters around wanting to be stroked. We loved the vintage cloth and kitchenware. shop nearby which had so much good stuff. Taylors is so nice and I’ll. be back again soon I am sure.

Love this place 😊.Rustic decorations. Food and sweet was nice. Love the breakfast menu. Don't really like the lunch menu but good place for a Sunday morning breakfast. 😊
Phil Doyle
I really enjoyed this place for a quick mid week lunch. Quirky surroundings, lovely staff and really tasty food. Given the quality I was not surprised by the number of people in the place and yet the owner said he was quiet!

Lovely rustic cafe situated in the Swan Valley. Perfect for an easy and relaxing visit on the weekend. The coffee was good and the savoury tart that we had was amazing - as expected from fresh and organic ingredients. Interesting ambience as well with the quaint garden and courtyard, and an adjoining gallery showing lino prints of West Australia wildflowers. The staff were all very friendly and it made our time there very enjoyable. Good idea to make a booking as it's a popular cafe and can get very busy.
Aburi Salmon Nigiri 5eva
They do an amazing chocolate and orange-soaked date cake. I couldn't believe how good it was. The skirt steak and sweet potato dish was also delicious, though it would have been better if the sweet potato had been browned a little to caramelise it. This is a really cute place, the garden is lovely to sit in.
Yum Yum
Love love love this place the food is delish and fresh. Super friendly staff. Great indoor and outdoor dinning. Inside fire place was perfect on a winter morning. Outdoors in summer is beautiful highly recommend.
Joe Chivers
Nice place for a Sunday breakfast! The food is really nice but a word of warning, this place gets extremely busy so expect a little wait! In saying that when you get your meal the wait is worth it.
Trent Masters
Wow what an amazing place. Completely laid back feel, excellent selection. Good coffee. Love the selection of craft too and the old ornate fittings
Sabrina20570
Awesome. Went for a breakfast with work crew and food was great. Love the old rustic feel too

Amazing Food. I went here for breakfast over the weekend with a group.
I loved the setting - the art, the furniture, the vintage shop was all gorgeous.
The food was amazing... it ended there.
BAD, BAD, BAD service. REALLY disappointing. Staff need basic training on how to bring plates to the table & how to serve customers.
When coffee was brought out they came with no sugar & there was none on the table. We had to ask. Same as salt & pepper for the food.
Freshly squeezed juice tasted like anything but..
Then the coffee machine broke (it happens). Told we could switch to tea but had to wait half an hour for the urn to warm up. Then told 10 minutes later than the electrics had gone so no tea either.
Staff told other people to go order their coffee up the road & bring it back!! I suggested maybe they should phone an order through & go & get it for their customers?
Such a shame because everything else was so good. I would love to go back with other friends for lunch but only if they lift their game on the service.

Absolutely love this place. Food & service are always consistently good!

Went to Taylors for lunch during the week. Very friendly staff, great menu and relaxing atmosphere. We had the beef salad and veggie burger. Both really good quality food made fresh. Certainly worth a visit and very child friendly. All in all a great experience that was not over priced. And only $2.50 for BYO if you want ;-)
Katherine Ramsay
It's great but.... $5 for a glass of coke?! That's crazy!!! The food is nice and the venue is perfect for kids but their pricing is a bit over the top!
Benjamin Paul Hair
By far the best breakfast I have eaten in WA!! Every element was superbly cooked and presented. Beautiful surroundings and delicious food created a fantastic experience. Well done!
Sandra McDougall
I LOVE THIS PLACE, EVERYTIME WE VISIT.. I always feel better on the way out, after enjoying the food which is healthy & good value. Great service by friendly people. The whole experience is so good for the sole.
Shaunamc
Setting is fab, coffee is pretty bad and food ok, I think it's riding on the name a bit and lacks effort in quality of food
MissA
Overpriced. The food is reasonable and it's a nice venue, but this cafe is overpriced for the quality and portion size. Staff are also not particularly friendly.
Info
Delicious and homemade. The food at Taylor's is absolutely amazing! I make all my food from scratch at home so I'm very fussy when I eat out. There is nothing I hate more than paying for a cake in a café that has come from a factory and tastes like cardboard cake mix! At Taylor's you can taste that the cakes are homemade with seasonal produce. Fresh and delicious! The atmosphere is so welcoming it's like going to an old friend's home. EVERYTHING tastes amazing. I'm a huge fan, visit regularly and have never been disappointed. Super duper highly recommended, especially for fussy food lovers!
Barracuda_67
Great Gluten Free Options. Finally a place where I can eat cakes that are home made and gluten free! Yummy food options. ..... Will definitely be coming back!!
Mari O
Great breakfast and location, Don't recommend for a group booking. I booked in here for a my birthday and while I enjoyed it and will be back when it's just my husband and myself, I wouldn't recommend it for a group booking. They get very busy and were unhelpful and our tables orders came out all over the place and wrong which left some receiving their correct order well after others were finished. A couple of the waitstaff were quite rude however the manager and head waiter were lovely. The food was really nice and coffee excellent. The atmosphere is beautiful and has a lovely rustic, country feel. Definitely could become a favourite breaky spot for hubby and I in the future.

Great breakfast. Considering the amount of people at Taylor's waiting for a table or sitting at tables I think they did a great job getting everyone seated and sorted, coffee and breakfast came out in a reasonable time and hey we didn't get there till 10 am on a Sunday morning so we didn't even expect to get a table without a booking! . The owner is nice and the food was generous and tasty- I recommend Taylor's -go with some fun people who are not in a hurry and enjoy yourself in the valley

Lynn strauss. The Taylor's definitely have a creative flair with their decor! Love the mismatch, earthy tones, and all the vintage accessories outdoors. It's definitely worth grabbing a coffee and a place to sit and relax but I have to advise coming really early or rather towards closing time otherwise its too chaotic inbetween. If you're coming for food, just know that you could be waiting A LONG time for average home cooking. It's a hit or miss for munchies here. And if it is a hit, i wouldnt say its anything really worth paying for unless youre starving.

Unique and Delicious. I love this place because of it's unique and rustic atmosphere. Their coffee is excellent and every time I have been, I have never been disappointed. Their food is great as well, I always seem to go for the pancakes as they are so big and fresh with a delicious combination of fruit. I have tried their poached eggs, and they too are cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, it is super reasonable and their produce is so tasty and fresh.

Taylor's rustic appearance paired with its amazing food and coffee creates a consistently great cafe experience. Brilliant quality of food which is served generously, and quick professional service. Definitely give this establishment a visit, you will not leave disappointed.

Regular. Been going there for years and still a favourite place... the tables have tripled in number over the years but the food is still very good and still good value. Service can be a tad tardy when busy... try to avoid sunny weekends !!!! Wonderful place for kids...

On a bit of a whim, after reading an online blog about Taylor's, I decided to take my family here today for brunch.

The venue is delightful with a nice big sandpit and plenty of interesting things for the children to explore.

I thought the prices were reasonable, given the portion-size of the meals. We tried the Pancake Stack (a generous serve of four light, fluffy pancakes with blueberry compote, maple syrup, double cream and fresh banana) and the Small Brekky (rye bread topped with mushrooms, spinach, a poached egg and goat's cheese - it was ok and filling but I had pancake envy!).

I expected the coffees to be a bit more special considering the name, but the children's berry smoothies were delicious. I wish I had tried the $7 coffee bowl. I'm intrigued!

We will certainly return here in the future.

Long waiting times, average food, poor customer service. Eight of us went to Taylor's for breakfast last Sunday to celebrate our friend’s birthday. On the plus side, the young waiting staff are enthusiastic and polite and the cafe setting is lovely. Unfortunately the positive experience ended there and my friend was very disappointed that her birthday celebration was spoilt. No effort was made to make this an enjoyable occasion, even though she had informed Taylor’s at the time of booking that she was celebrating her birthday.

Prior to booking we checked the approximate waiting time between ordering and arrival of food, as some of our party had post-breakfast commitments. We were advised it was approximately half an hour so on this basis the booking was made.

The queuing system is the first problem. There was a massive queue waiting to order, and three of our group were a little late (not the fault of the restaurant, I know). A couple of our group joined the queue as soon as we arrived at the cafe and the late-comers arrived just as it was our turn to order. This made us unpopular with those behind us in the queue, and I can see their side of it, but we wanted to order our food at the same time so that we could eat it together, not have some served half an hour before others because they were further back in the queue. I don't think this is an unreasonable expectation.

After ordering, we checked with our waiter and were advised that there would be a wait of 3/4 hour or longer for our food to arrive. One of our group had asked for a rush order as she had limited time, and to the chef's credit her meal was served promptly. The rest of us had to wait over an hour.

The coffee and tea arrived about half an hour before the food which was disappointing as we would have liked to have had the drinks and the food together. Our pot of English breakfast tea was so weak that even after 10 minutes stirring the leaves in the pot it still looked and tasted like dishwater. We had to find a waiter to ask for more tea leaves to be added. We also had to go in search of a waiter to get our water bottle refilled. In fact the only time we had a waiter come to our table was to deliver our orders in dribs and drabs – nobody came to check if we needed anything during our protracted wait.

The toast in my meal was waterlogged and inedible. I considered asking for another piece of toast, but given that another person at our table had just ordered a second coffee and been advised that it would take 25 minutes (!) I decided not to bother, as (a) I was very hungry and (b) I was getting a lift home with another of our party who had a subsequent engagement. You shouldn't have to eat breakfast at home before you go out for breakfast!

The part of the meal that I did eat was pleasant enough but nothing out of the bag and certainly not worth the wait. I advised one of the staff about the toast and was asked if I wanted a replacement meal. I declined this offer for reasons previously stated, after which the staff member advised me that she would let the kitchen know. That was it, no apology was forthcoming and no message came back from the kitchen.

I don't expect to get a free meal but I think it would have been reasonable to offer a partial refund of the cost. I wouldn't have taken the refund but it would have been a nice gesture.

When there are so many other alternative venues which take orders at the table and provide a great breakfast served in a reasonable timeframe (with the drinks provided at the same time as the food), We won't be coming back to Taylor's.

Seriously a winner!. A lot better than most of the cafes/casual restaurants in Perth !Such a great experience! beautiful food ! lovely staff, and great atmosphere. And your desserts... AMAZING! Many thanks, we will be back.

Very disappointing. Waited a long time to be able to order and over 45 minutes to get our coffee, which ended up coming during our food. Probably would have been waiting a lot longer if we didn't go up and ask where our coffees were.
Also we had confirmed during the week that we had an outside table reservation for an elderly relative to easily get to and on the day we were placed at an inside table which was the most distant table from the entrance.
Food was nice but with the below average service it is certainly not worth the above average prices.
We have been fond on Taylor's previously but won't be coming back until service is improved.

Breakfast. Disappointed that we did not get outside table which we booked before and was confirmed by Taylor's, I explained we had an elderly lady (93) with us and has difficulty negotiating the floor inside and cannot walk too far, we were seated inside a long distance from the entrance. We could see they were very busy, but 45mins to wait for coffee seems too long and in that time we had to go to the counter and ask where order was, seems it was misplaced, coffee and breakfast all came together. No point in taking time to book outside if no notice is taken of booking details. We often stop at Taylor's but may think twice before doing so again.

Just Lovely. Wanting to catch up with some dear friends in the swan valley as it is the half way point for us both I came across Taylor's on here... So glad I did. What a delightful place, pleasant atmosphere quirky and cute. Then our meals came out and they were both substantial and delicious... Being the sweet tooth that I am when I went it to order coffee I spotted the cake fridge which was abundant with yummy "homemade" cakes and desserts. Looks were definitely not deceiving... Sweet cakey goodness...
Thank you Michael and the friendly crew at Taylor's will be back soon :)

Always Enjoy. Have been coming to Taylor's for many years, always a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Popularity has deservedly grown over the years, but even though my breakfast may take a bit longer than it did 5+ years ago its still just as relaxing and satisfying :)

Great Breakfast. Went here with a big group of 30+ people for breakfast the day after our wedding. They were happy to accommodate our booking. Everyone enjoyed their meal, this place was made with love and their food has real heart and soul. I'd love to come back and try their lunch menu.

Food 101. Whilst visiting from Newcastle, my daughter in Aveley (Ellenbrook), took me out for breakfast to Taylors and I must say it was just an absolute pleasure to have been taken there, propt service, great food and just an easy going relaxed atmosphere. People in and visiting the Swan Valley are lucky to have such a place to go to.

My favourite Swan Valley destination. Well done Guys. Such good coffee, cakes that actually taste as good as they look and your great old house make you my preferred coffee stop. I am also a fan of Jude's work which means I am even more likely to come. Your staff are efficient and the cafe feels calm and welcoming.
Sophie Huxley
Such nice and fresh food, good service as well. Everyone is so friendly.

ABTE (all-about-the-experience). This little gem in the Valley is getting quite a bit of notice of late. Because of the popularity - there is vehicle management - such as DO NOT PARK ON THE ROAD. Not hard to do. I parked parallel to the road - as I parked further down the street and walked up to the Cafe Premises, passed the Exhibition Shed where there is always something a happening from Art Exhibitions, Fund Raisers, Promotions, Workshops or Yoga Lessons - and then thru the Alfresco area right up to the Cafe Door. There is also a car park under huge trees that give great shade. For those who do not want to walk more than 20 or 30 steps to the Cafe Door, then you must park off the road, inward. That would be my suggestion, park further down the street, off the road, under shade, and a safe leisurely walk to the Cafe - perhaps a 3 minute walk if that.

Food is changing between seasons, with now fresh produce from the cafe grown garden - from garden to the kitchen to your plate. You could not get fresher than that. Catering for the new Raw food and slow cooking movement, the food has a modern twist for all your old time favourites.

The garden produce manager is also available during the week to share growing tips to visitors as they walk around the grounds of the Cafe. Just ask and you will be shared some great tips on Food Gardening.

The menu is continually changing and evolving with suggestions from Patrons, High Priority for Caroline and her Chefs. who listen to Taylors clientele.

Kid friendly, and with children in mind with a Kids menu - a great selection for those hungry little people, breakfast, yummo to lunch starting at 11.00am

My experience today instead of my Outback Brew, as the weather just turned up a notch to 40 degrees, I had the best Ginger Beer very refreshing. The trees in the alfresco shade most of the seating outside arrangements so the weather did not feel that threatening.

As the weather is hotting up like today , do what I did and sit outside under the trees, in the Alfresco, have a coffee, that special brew, and a cake or light foods for summer. The inside cafe is air conditioned so caters for all.

Today, Children were outside and laughing while playing but not bothering any patrons. THat tells you something about this family run business and your food experience that can be shared from little people to those who are our seniors.

One of the reasons that Taylors is so popular, food to be shared experience, from the Garden to the Kitchen to the Plate.

Jude Taylor is the Artisan in Residence with fabulous products which can be purchased, and the Artist herself "Jude" is always on hand to chat to you about her products.

Taylors have something for everyone. It is comfortable, child friendly, relaxed and I saw a number of bike riders dropping in for a Coffee on the Go.

There are also many other foods that can be bought to go.

Well worth putting Taylors Art & Coffee House in your Calender as a Place of Destination to Sit and Enjoy not only the food but the atmosphere. Child Friendly - I enjoyed my experience of food, ease of parking if you use some common sense, and bought another Ginger Beer and a Rasberry Mouse Cake "TO GO" , A taste Sensation.

I will be back with Friends and Family to share ABTE !!
Sunday Breakfast
What a let down. Nice venue, polite staff, good food, rude owner. Breakfast with my friend began with us seeing our meals brought out to us and then past us to another table to be used as a display plate for other guests, before being delivered to our table. Then the owner patrolled the small gathering for owners of cars that were parallel parked and not diagonally parked. When my friend and I returned to our vehicles several hours later, hers was parked in by two vehicles far too closely. Now as the owner was overseeing the parking, presumably it’s OK to park alongside another vehicle leaving a 15cm gap.
Not impressed. In the light of this experience, $51.00 for eggs on toast and beverage for two, is pricey.

>

Relaxing. Went out for breakfast last Saturday morning, ordered scrambled eggs with bacon ...was quite nice, service was great, there were a large crowd of us, each promptly served, food presentation was superb, relaxing atmosphere, waiters and waitresses, friendly efficient, unobtrusive, would definitely visit again..

This place has a awesome atmosphere. Great coffee, great breakfast. And the cakes look amazing! Happy, friendly staff.

Terrbile Experience. Came here to meet up with some family and friends and just to get out of the house and relax. Atmosphere is definately unique and comportable enough. We decided to get some share plates and see how we felt afterwards. Took forever for them to bring out our plates, I'm sorry bu how hard is it to heat up some bread, slice some cheese, cook/heat up meatballs and put them onto a plate. When it finally did arrive they said there was some mix up and we had to wait another 30mins for the additional platter. should've gone to Coles and done it up myself less stress and probably would've saved a quid. Thought we'd give them the benefit of the doubt and proceed with coffee and their extensive range of cakes. Coffee took 20mins, and then once we had consumed our coffee we had to remind them about of cakes apparently they had misplaced the receipt, and cutting pre-made cake was just too difficult. So with a platter and cake stuff up we all felt like forgetting to pay as it's so easy to be done. Not worth the 40minute drive and won't be recommending this to anyone plenty of other places in the city surrounds with the same appeal.

Having eaten here a lot recently I was very disappointed today. Hubs had booked a table for my birthday and we had a number of friends joining us. No table had been reserved so we had to put some together ourselves. Ok fine.... Then they'd taken the only pasta dish they do, and one I always treat myself too off the menu, with no substitute so basically either quiche type stuff , salad or kofta/burgers. Ordered a burger which got forgotten and was left with no food while all my guests ate theirs and when it finally did come it had tomato ketchup on it which frankly should be outlawed its such a vile substance. Just the smell of that stuff could drive a starving dog from the room so I always request to leave it off. So birthday girl had no food for over an hour and had to eat alone. Nice. Was very much looking forward to bringing all my rellies out over Christmas when they visit but will not bother now.

-----13 Oct, 2013-----

Love this place. Been 3 times for lunch and brekkie. Will continue to return and will be taking my family when they arrive over the Christmas period. Would be awesome if they removed the broken toys and got a couple of fresh ones! I'll donate at bucket and spade next time I go!

Cute atmosphere, very friendly staff. Food was good toast was a little dry and no butter was served with meal. Coffee bean was lovely the milk was very average. We got attacked by moziquitos at 10.30am! A big let down there.

OMG, found our favourite brekky place. Great food, coffee and atmosphere.

Excellent breakfast!. I booked a table here for breakfast for my husband's birthday after reading the fantastic reviews on Urbanspoon. And we weren't disappointed.

The staff were all of them cheerful and friendly and it was lovely to be greeted with a smile. The food was delicious! Our breakfast portions were generous and we loved the old-time feel of the cups and saucers and kettle/teapot.

There was a good variety of dishes with vegetarian and vegan options. Gluten free bread was available for all meals, but the meals themselves were not labelled gluten-free so I would advise caution if you are coeliac. Ring up beforehand if this is a concern.

There was a choice of eating inside or out - inside there was a warm, glowing fireplace for company, outside there were comfortable tables amidst the plants and trees and a large sandpit to keep any children occupied.

As well as the feast for the tummies, there was also the feast for the eyes in the beautiful lino-cut prints and printed fabrics.

All in all, a very enjoyable morning and well worth the trip out into the Swan Valley. We'll definitely be back!

Very nice breakfast on our way back from the house of honey. Great job guys.

Love it. Fabulous breakfast and probably the best coffee I've had in a decade. Very friendly staff, docile resident dog who appreciated some well earned chorizo at the end of our meal.
Definitely going back for more :-)

Excellent food, wonderful atmosphere. I have been going to Taylors for a number of years and absolutely LOVE everything this place has to offer. As a mother of 2 young children, I dont often go out "for lunch" but at Taylors, my kids play happily in the sandpit for hours and love exploring. The staff are friendly and helpful and they have the BEST vegetarian salads I have ever tasted. Great atmosphere, lovely family venue and yummy meals. I would highly recommend this cafe!

Usually I love coming here but today was the exception. Food was ok, but ordered a ginger beer spider for the kids, only to have it arrive containing ginseng and guarana..
owner of the cafe forcefully restrained my two year olds hand after I removed him from a wall he had climbed.
won't be coming back unfortunately
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Very cute cafe. Food yummy & reasonably priced. Majority of the staff were friendly, one waitress kept taking chairs from our table although we were waiting on friends and we had informed her... She did not have a very professional manner. Besides that, cute cafe.

Amazing breakfast. Best... breakfast... EVER!

I've had a few nice breakfasts lately, but often there's been a few minor faults. Absolutely no faults here. Great coffee, great food (including poached eggs cooked to perfection), great service. Will definitely go again.

Amazing Service & Food!. My sister and I hit Taylor’s Art House & Coffee on a Wednesday afternoon, at around 1 pm. The gorgeous place is tucked away off the side of Great Northern Hwy, and its perfect sunny weather to sit in the vast al fresco area. As it is rather chilly however, we opt for to sit inside. Taylor’s looks deceptively small but inside it is almost cavernous, resembling the interior of a wooden cottage. There are many small and long tables to cater for different groups of people and we choose a two-person table next to the iron fire that is suitably toasty. First impressions of Taylor’s is that it is a kooky, rustic, homely little place which looks like the perfect place for food in the Valley. The back section of Taylor’s is the “art house” a selection of paintings, knits and handmade bags that does good for a browsing session while you wait for your food. It is pretty busy when we arrive, about a third full, but the service is top notch.

My sister orders a chai tea ($4.00) as per usual, which is s a special organic type that the waitresses recommend. Opening the teapot, we find the brew is made out of a selection of different seeds and pods as opposed to the Chai leaves that you find. My sister says the Chai has a distinctly spicy taste and is suitable for those who like their Chai teas strong. They unfortunately don’t have any soy milk to serve on the side as requested, but instead substitute it with almond milk – our friendly waitress says that if we don’t prefer the almond milk, she would be happy to pour us another round of skim but my sister is pretty happy with it.

My hot chocolate ($4.50) comes in a huge whopping china mug. It’s steamed extra hot, just the way it is requested and comes served with two marshmallows – one pink, the other white. It’s one of the better hot chocolates I have and it lasts throughout my whole meal. Finally! A place that understands what extra hot means.

The Braised Organic Beef Meatballs ($18.00) is seriously one of the best dishes I have had this year. It exceeded all expectations when it came out on the place – a clay plate (usually reserved for baked eggs) holds at least eight huge beef meatballs, swimming in a pool of spicy, chunky- tomato stew. It’s speckled with bits of sautéed onion and herbs and on top of it all is a massive dollop of sour cream and sprinkle of spring onion. One the side comes a large serve of fresh crispy rocket, which has a lemony acidity to it – so good. The toasted focaccia, cut into three portions is also magnificent – just crusty with a buttery oiliness to it and perfect to mop up the remains of the sauce. The whole meal is so deliciously hot and satisfies my pangs of hunger. Such a generous dish that also tasted FANTASTIC.

The Spiced Spinach Pancakes w Smoked Salmon ($23) was another ripper dish. Three sizeable green spinach pancakes sat on one side of the plate, charred to brown on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They were just salty and complimented well with the large curl of smoked salmon that sat on the opposite end of the plate, with the salad rocket. Sandwiches in-between the pancakes were three circular slabs of lime butter, which gave the fritters additional moisture. Delicious.

The Bowl O’ Chips w aioli ($8) also came in another huge serving. The chips were super hot, fresh out of the fryer, crunchy and salty. Trademark good chips. The aioli was also delicious, with a decent measure of minced garlic and sported a creamy consistency.

There were also several tempting homemade cakes in the food cabinet (including a lovely looking lemon meringue tart) and several more specials on the chalkboard beside the counter. I love the service at Taylor’s – the ladies there are so friendly, bubbly and efficient. The food came out super fast, and we were given a take-away bag straight away so we could divvy up the chips that we couldn’t finish. Another plus of Taylors would be the delicate floral china, making a perfect afternoon tea spot. I love the ambience of Taylors, the service, the high standard of food (its generous portion sizes!) and its location. I will be there soon to sample their breakfast menu (and their rest of their lunch menu!). The total cost of the meal for the two of us was $40, due to the use of the entertainment book voucher (25% of the total price) that meant great food at cheaper prices! Overall, Taylor’s was a great dining experience and is well worth the drive down!

Nine out of Ten Braised Organic Beef Meatballs

Any place that gets soft poached eggs almost perfect is a winner with me. The coffee is lovely, although it did take a little while to get to our table. Filled with rustic charm and the owners art work,
Taylors is definitely worth checking out.

Yum. The Italian eggs was delish. Coffee is good. Staff is friendly and the scenery is great

Average and Overpriced. I went here for lunch today and was sadly disappointed. The food is really overpriced and not worth the money ($23 for a run of the mill salad is pretty hefty...). The coffee was quite nice, but took a ridiculous amount of time to be delivered to the table, arriving when we'd nearly finished our lunch! We were near the counter and could see the barista was going abut his business VERY slowly. The outlook was nice however and the cafe was pleasant to sit in with pretty wooden furniture. I wont be returning any time soon though.

What's not to love :). Love this place...sometimes they deliver someone elses food but that might be the customer. Love the breakfast and awesome cake selection.

Beautiful food. I have been there a few times and have always had beautiful food. Coffee is really good, unusuall to find good food and good coffee. A definite on a cold day, very cosy next to the fire and the cakes are great too.

I've previous enjoyed this venue and decided to take my folks there 2 weeks back. I had the pancakes - which I thoroughly enjoyed. My mum had bacon and eggs breakfast - the first think i noticed what that the bacon was hard and dark - obviously overcooked or been on the backburner and reheated, which made it unpleasant to eat. My dad had the panini - the panini was like a rock. Coffees and juices were fantastic as usual. The service was just ok - not as inviting as the first time I dined there. The ambience was lovely and warm as usual. I'm not asking for fine dining, it's breakfast and it shouldn't be that hard to get the bacon and panini right. Overall I was embarrassed. I will give this place another go in the future - I haven't given up just yet n

-----11 May, 2013-----

We had Italian eggs, eggs and bacon, pancake stack and juice. Set in front of the fire place table 12 for two. A lady (the owner I believe) came by to restart the fire place. We were also greeted even before we got in. A great experience, food was good, ambience lovely, people friendly. Set up feels simple yet very special. Very comfortable.
