Delicate and tasty. Service was very helpful and friendly. Will return.
Great food but smaller portion sized compared to other Japanese restaurants. We had the beef teriyaki bowl (good), kaarage chicken (yum), chicken Katsu bowl (yumm) and salmon cakes (so good!). If you’re ever in Midland, go there!
Love it. Always Yummy! Always fresh and Always Enjoyable! Great for family. Something for everyone. Kids love the Tori Karage. So crispy, tender and juicy. Flavour is exceptional. Can’t go past this place for amazing sashimi and sakes.
I had a teriyaki chicken don,it was very fresh and same taste as l tried in Japan! Also tried sake as well, very authentic and nice atmosphere restaurant! Its reasonable prices.Highly recommended!!
We always choose here when we have a Japanese food.Always fresh and great service and affordable!!You can enjoy authentic Japanese food and beer and sake and others!Just love it!You should try it!!!
The service is long but I love the bento boxes. I think everything looked yummy. I might try something else next time, but also looks like a place to share with friends as well.
Very enjoyable restaurant to dine at for dinner or lunch. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Food is very fresh! Superb presentation. Very nice and extensive menu. Highly recommend.
Delicious and staff are so lovely! We go there so much now they all know who we are... Favourite is the Chicken Don (chicken teriyaki without the whole bento!) and great sizes for takeaway. Yum yum
Went with 2 friends and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Food was delicious and service was prompt and polite. We all enjoyed our food and said that we would all definitely be making that our regular venue.
Excellent, fresh and beautifully prepared food. This is my go-to restaurant. I'm working my way through the menu and haven't found anything I didn't like. Great service and very friendly. Highly recommended.
Great place, excellent food every time. Good price for the quality and nice decor. Nice variety. Try the curry. I come here every time I feel like japanese food.
Affordable and delicious authentic Japanese food made by Japanese staff. They offer gluten free soy sauce which most places don't. Friendly service.
This restaurant is my favourite in Midland. It is clean, the service is always friendly and competent. The food is great. Possibly the best Miso soup in Perth. Love the sashimi and the tempura. Highly recommend.

An early dinner before the movies meant we had a quiet restaurant and instant service. The wait staff were so lovely, and helped us between our choices of katsu chicken and tofu. The entre came out quickly- prawn parcels were amazing! The sauce was so good and the mains promptly followed, all fresh, hot and tasty.
No photos, it was so delicious we ate it quickly!
Thank you so much for the beautiful dinner! So relived we've found such a great local Japanese restaurant!!!
Awesome food! Although My katsu curry tasted a little burnt but other than that pretty good all round. The sashimi was beautifully presented and the staff are very friendly
What a pleasant dining experience!
Took my son out for a spontaneous dinner and had no reservation. But they were happy to find us a table in the half full restaurant.
The table hadn't been wiped but the waitress wiped it before we had a chance to sit down.
Water was brought immediately and drink orders were taken. No less than a minute later they arrived!
Also just as fast, the food arrived.
The miso is gorgeous. I love a good miso and I got to have 2 bowls as my son didn't want his. Win!
We ordered several dishes, all perfect. I had mixed tempura which had all sorts of surprises. Clean fresh batter.
I also had mixed sashimi.
Oh.
My.
God!
The fish was exquisite. Perfect little morsels. And the wasabi was real! I love that punch in the nose.
Our waitress was gorgeous and what a memory. She didn't write down a thing but somehow "read" back our order perfectly with helpful suggestions.
The bill was around $100 for 3 people which I find to be a good price.
Would definitely return, I want to try more!
Would give 4.5 if the wait time wasnt that ridiculous. Waited for nearly 45 mins for my friend's food while mine is already served 20mins ago. Food quality, best beef teriyaki I've eaten. Fresh food, clean oil. Simply the best place for a japanese meal under 20. Staff and chef wad friendly as i was greeted at the counter. Would recommend it to all of you. Please improve the wait time!
This is my favourite Japanese restaurant. The Katsu, Tori-Kara and Prawn Parcels are our fave dishes. The sauces are always spot on, it's never overwhelming like some other Japanese restaurants can be, which is a big plus from me! 👌 The staff here are very attentive and so lovely. The food is served quite quickly and they have a nice selection of Japanese sake, beer & wines. 🍶 Good location - before seeing a movie or after a shop at Midland Gate. 🍲
We went here on a Saturday night and it was great! The chicken udon was the clear winner! Super juicy noodles and succulent chicken, it was one of the best I've tasted in a while! The sashimi was also surprisingly good however the price, I do admit was on the steeper side. It's satisfying but one of those more lighter dishes so don't expect to be stuffed.
What made this place for me though was the service. The beautiful calm atmosphere and great friendly staff who made you feel welcome and were more then happy to answer questions and give recommendations really set the vibe for the whole evening
We went on a Saturday night and was blown away by the exceptional service provided by Jihye. Food was equally fantastic. Highly recommend this fantastic place
Our favourite restaurant. Fresh, clean and we always enjoy anything we order. Excellent value for money. Keep up the good work Ishikiya.
Authentic and delicious. Myself and a friend nipped in because the restaurant was almost empty and even though that's normally a warning sign, we like peace and quiet when we eat.
We were very pleasantly surprised. I had beef curry and my friend had chicken karaage. She was shocked by how crisp and non-oily the karaage was and both of us forced ourselves to finish the generous portions simply because they tasted so good. The food was comparatively inexpensive and definitely the best we've found so far in Perth and her suburbs.
The fact that the staff were Japanese and the interior was sleek and gorgeously decorated were bonuses.
Beautiful food. We are regulars to the Ishikiya, due to the consistently high quality of the food and the friendly service. It's not a cheap take away sushi joint but a provider of exquisite Japanese food. Lovely atmosphere and family friendly. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Chirashi Sushi. Freshly prepared sashimi on a bed of sesame sushi rice. Usually has salmon, tuna, scallop, white flesh fish, seaweed salad, roe, mushrooms, pickled ginger, wasabi.
Excellent food. We have been dining at the Ishikiya Japanese Restaurant since it first opened as the Hayashi. We have never been disappointed with our meal ... always prepared fresh, exquisite presentation and always delicious ... OISHI ... The service is very friendly and efficient and the cost is very reasonable. We much prefer this authentic Japanese style presentation rather than café style or noisy food hall where you don't know how long the food has been sitting in a cabinet. Thanks Ishikiya, we look forward to our next visit and another delicious bento. E & L P :o) :-)
Fresh and reasonably priced. I have eaten here once when it was hayashi and once since it was renamed and both times I had a really nice meal. I found prices are a lot more reasonable now and food is always fresh and tasty. Pleasant staff, spider rolls are amazing,
Lovely staff and great, fresh food!
Finally finding its feet again. Ishikiya has gone through some difficult times since breaking away from the Hayashi franchise. I feel they are finally finding their feet with price and quality.
unfortunately in the mean time a little Japanese place called Katsu has come up and will give Ishikaya a good run for its money.
However I believe that Ishikiya is of better quality and will serve a different niche.
Great Food. Had Saturday lunch here with the Mrs. Ordered the sashimi and sushi platters along with sake. Everything was very good. Loved it. Presentation of the sashimi platter in particular was notable.
Service was good, and waiting times were appropriate for the type and quality of food being served. Also it was fairly busy.
The only downside to our dining experience was someone brought a screaming baby. Can't fault the restaurant for that one though.
Have been here a few times before, and always had an enjoyable meal. Really enjoy the unagi and most of the sashimi and sushi.
Only the price keeps me from coming back as much as I would like to. I wouldn't say its overpriced, but it is not inexpensive.
Heartily recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to eat in Midland.
So good to have somewhere nice to go in midland for a quick, healthy and tasty meal! the service is quick and friendly, bento boxes great value and overall the menu is varied with something for everyone. I head there at least once a week
Better than expected!. Mum and dad dragged me here one night. Being in Midland I had low expectations. When we arrived, we were the ONLY people there... it wasn't looking good. The hostess was over eager and I was grimacing inside.
We sat down, the menu was a bunch of pictures. Oh dear. Another bad sign.
We ordered wine. She bought the wrong bottle. Face palm.
And we waited.
It didn't take long, the starters came out quickly. We had sashimi that was fresh and tasty. We had tofu that even my dad was impressed with. Delicious.
Our mains were the same - simple and tasty.
By the time we left, the restaurant was quite full and my mind was changed completely.
I'm not sure why people are saying this is overpriced? I would say the price matches the quality / quantity / service received. Yes - it is Midland, but these are the places that Midland needs to help it's image. Honestly, it's affordable and tastes good.
I love this resturant. It is always fresh and good food. Yes a little bit pricy but I think its worth it. Lunch specials are great VALUE $9 + my Mum & I have it regularly. Midland people whom like good to great food don't mind. So do your self a favour and give it a try.
Great food!. I have been here a few times and the food and service has always been great. Only down side is that it is a bit expencive.
For what it is (Japanese restaurant) this place is nice enough. The food is tasty and the quality is good. However, for Japanese food it is way over priced. For a normal Japanese restaurant, it is one of the most expensive I've been to in Australia (by normal I mean not a "fine dining" restaurant)
Had work lunch here a few times. Lovely food and excellent service. At the end of the day it's in Midland and seems to be overpriced for the rather poor socioeconomic area.
Fabulous. Went for nieces birthday, 23 of us, fabulous service, meal fresh and gorgeous. Will def go again!
The beef teppanyaki was fantastic, such fresh tender meat and perfectly cooked. The selection of sake and Japanese spirits was good, decor was simple and elegant. I will definitely be back.
Always exceptional service. Sashimi is of high quality and I have taken friends many times and never waited long. I love this restaurant
Enjoyed dinner there. Went to Hayashi for a family dinner - with three kids (aged 4, 5 and 6). The atmosphere is quite nice, and we enjoyed the food. My 5 year old and I had sushi -- it was very nice (and authentic). My husband had a seafood teppanyaki and he enjoyed the food. The other boys shared what we had, and it was a good night.
Service was good, food was good and authentic Japanese food, and we are happy that there is an authentic Japanese restaurant to go to close to home.
Will go there again.
Great Lunch Bento Box. Third visit and its always yummy. I've only come for lunches and tried the different bento boxes starting from $14.90 - $18. I know its quite a few dollars cheaper eating at lunch then the same meal for dinner but the quality and service is always fantastic. You can have a standard burger and chips for the same price across the road or you can have miso soup, salad, fruit, rice and meat/seafood?? I don't feel like it everyday but i'm happy its here for when I do want it.
Nice food a bit pricey. Love Salmon Sashimi... dinner menu a bit expensive, better value for lunch.
Had dinner here as was watching Jurassic World Domination on the Ace screen afterwards. They open from 5:30pm for dinner service and it was pretty much packed from then on.
The food probably took its time. Waited about 25 mins for the food to come out but felt like ages. The service was friendly and attentive. The ambience was that of a spacey Japanese restaurant.
The wait was forgiven when the food came out. It was pretty tasty. Yummy, the meat, salad, sushi was pretty good. A lot of rice as well. The prices for the bento 🍱 boxes were high $20ish to $30ish. Had Unagi, Teriyaki beef, premium beef, and Teriyaki fish bento’s. Washed it down with some sake.
All in all a pretty good experience eating here.
A very lovely dining experience!
When an order my boyfriend took hadn't arrived, we asked the man serving us, it was rectified very quickly, and as his dish was served, it was given with apologies from him and the kitchen team!
And also, when an accident on the table behind me happened, it was dealt with promptly and the man serving our table was apologising profusely, even saying that it's okay I don't have to stand up; for context a large glass jug fell off the table behind us, and chance would have it, some water splashed on my back and a few chunks of glass landed under my seat.
I hadn't been to this restaurant before, but I was very excited to try a new place, and by the very positive day I had, I would definitely recommend this place! Lovely presentation on all the food; I only have a photo of my first dish as I was too engrossed with the rest of my meal to take other photos!
Womderful hosts, dealt very well with our table of 14, most food came out very quick especially the kids meals which was a blessing! Delicious during and gyoza, giant crumb prawn and the Benton boxes were delicious. Food was a hit all around the table. Lovely atmosphere, the aircon was a bit chilly but other than that no faults.
Great experience here! Loved my sashimi bowl, and udon soup was tasty too. Very lovely and attentive staff, will be back!
Good customer service.
The food came out quickly.
Would prefer to have the portion of the bento to be bigger. We ordered the unagi and chicken katsu bento but portion is quite small for the unagi and the chicken.
Authentic japanese restaurant!
Good and polite customer service, food was really good.
We will be back
Amazing food and presentation, owner served us himself and even was ready to suggest drinks and speak about the menu with us.
Only 2 staff on the floor and one was the owner (positively bringing to light as they worked amazingly together), they were super onto it and generally just gave us very warm and friendly service. If you're new trying Japanese food please try here as all questions go down well and everything will be explained in a very respectful way so you don't feel like you're asking unnecessary questions.
Again big props to the owner running around with his staff and doing the nitty gritty. something I truly appreciate - passion for his business.
ありがとうございました 🌟💕
I love coming here for dinner or lunch. The food every time I visit is exceptional. The staff are lovely and attentive. If you haven't been yet, make sure you do. I love the spider roll - this is my favourite dish. The tofu is delectable. The slow cooked pork belly is also to die for. There isn't a dish I have had that I haven't loved! There's a great range of drinks too, including a great variety of sake.
