This is my top most favourite cafe, every time after a good day at work, me and my friends stop here, grab a table near window, order different food items. But our best is fries with gravy. Can’t get same taste of gravy fries elsewhere. Very helpful staff.
3.5. 24/7 pies...no wonder it’s an Adelaide institution! A great selection of pies, we shared the satay chicken and goulash pies which were very tasty. Sausage roll was delicious, with visible chunks of veggies (a good thing). The potato pie (or Shepherd’s pie) had a much higher ratio of potato to meat, and the cheese Vili dog was a little firmer than I would’ve liked but my partner loved the latter. Well-priced and friendly service.
It's the staple for any breakfast person. Everything is literally fresh and coming straight out of the bakery. Quick and 24 hour service. Portion size of even a coffee is so good. It's best place to go after a jog or walk at the beach early morning or even after a party late night. It is also good for your pocket.
Café de Vili's is more than just pies, pasties and cakes - it is good home style meals as well - like goulash! Open 24 hours 7 days a week for all your food needs.
Chips and gravy are good. Extensive menu. Pie floater is pretty good though you could get it at 2/3rds of the price at bakery on o'connell. Convenient and 24/7 is a plus.
Food always so delish and fresh from their fruit salads to brekky menu to their hot chips and pies. Family favourite on a Saturday afternoon. Be aware of people who don't line up and push in and order before you.
Best pie place in Adelaide if not Australia. Ok so I might be biased as I think Villi's pies are the best. Great selection of pies, meals and deserts and open 24 hours a day.
Open 24 hours, you can get your Villis fix at anytime of the day. The menu is like a Harry Potter book, endless amounts of food. Great hot chips and gravy meals. They serve beer as well.
Cheap, cheerful, filling and a Adelaide institution. I had the schnitzel which came with chips and salad, for $15 it's hard to find value as good as this. That's why they've survived and thrived.
the place to go when you are hungry in the middle of the night. food is always the same, not enough update with the menu. but i still go there just because it is 24/7 there for us no matter what
It is seriously a gem of a place. I tried their chips with gravy, steak burger and banana caramel. And After eating them I was glad i came to this place to eat. This place will definitely become a regular spot till the time I am in Adelaide. They have variety of things to offer and i am quite sure they would also be very delicious. Do visit this place.
An Adelaide Thing. Surely it's an Adelaide rite of passage to go to Vili's at three in the morning and order chips and gravy or a pie floater or a chilli kransky.
Beloved by church youth groups, netball teams, pensioners and students, Vili's is one of those places that is pretty much unavoidable if you live in Adelaide.
And yes the service can be a bit whimsical, the food is hearty in a retro, 80's sort of way (name another restaurant in Adelaide that does tuna mornay), depending on who you get making it the coffee can either be quite good or can strip paint off walls and the queues can be lengthy. The staff have a habit of leaving you at the counter while they polish the silver ware or disappear to get a half a dozen pies to restock the warmers and some of them have the attitude you'd expect from someone who's serving sausage rolls to biker gang members at four in the morning.
But there really isn't another place like it in town. Sure there are 24 hour bakeries in O'Connell street and The Parade and good they are too. But VIli's has a feel all its own. And more often than not that's a good thing.
The best of midnight meals. This is the place to go when you are hungry at that late hour on the weekend. So easy going and simple, yet tasty, tasty food to make any person weep in joy haha.
We ordered a bowl of hot chips with gravy - please do your mouth a favour and always start with this tasty dish, do not ask yourself how the gravy is made, just enjoy the deliciousness and resist the urge to drink the gravy.
I had the kangaroo pie, a disappointment, did not taste like kangaroo, there was too much tomato sauce inside, and the meat was not chunky as expected. You can skip this pie. My friend had the roast pork roll with gravy - delicious! I ate half of this and was happy. Do try!
I will be back to try their other food. If you haven't been yet, you're missing out. Go, your tummy will thank you for it!
Quality is a bit variable but mostly reliable late night feed. Not very many of those in Adelaide!
Late night treat come rain or shine. Always busy and for the hours bakers work, they're surprisingly friendly! :)
Always open, always satisfying. I love this place.
There's no fancy food or decor or much attention paid to service, but it's solid Vili's food served by friendly enough people. Plus it's always open so it's a good place to go after a big night and soak up some alcohol with their AMAZING chips and gravy - the best ever.
I love to just get a double cut roll and take it down with some chips. And dessert is in the cabinet to your right, perfect!
It's great - non pretentious yummy feeds. Just don't opt for the pizza, it's pretty average.
Late night wickedness!!! Me like eat!!!
Late night oasis of great baked goods with tasty chips and gravy to boot. One of the best 24hr chow down places I've ever seen. You can taste the difference.
Great on your way home from a big night out. Always busy.
Vili Burger. Try it trust me!
Good Vibe. What I like about this place is the good vibe everyone is always in. Whether they are workers or suits...everyone is side-by-side enjoying food and drink! Very Casual!
Always busy. Only the fake blond 50 somethings are rude enough to be more important than everyone else and jump the line. Very honest egalitarian food. Eat with the workers and savour an honest Adelaide eating experience. PS the Rendang pie and a Coopers rocks!
Cafe de Vili's is an Adelaide institution and like most Adelaide institutions, not very well publicised. But nobody tells me this stuff so I have to learn the hard way by trial and error so I can share the gems with you. Cafe de Vili's is right next to the Vili's factory and they're open 24/7, which is extremely rare for restaurants in Adelaide. Only other one I know of open 24/7 is the Pancake Kitchen which I wouldn't recommend unless you're really desperate. In addition to their main drawcard, the Aussie meat pie, Cafe de Vili's sells all kinds of other stuff. Donuts, lamingtons, slices, cold drinks, hot drinks, sausage rolls, Vili dogs, schnitzels, sandwiches, salads, chips with gravy, chicken, fish, etc. So far, we reckon the winner from the menu is the Vili Burger with chips (pictured below) for around $9. It's actually the best burger we've had in Adelaide thus far, and better than many we've paid a lot more for. Comes with traditional Aussie toppings of a fried egg & beetroot (a
