Review Kitchenku - Mill Park

Good place for Malaysian food. We ordered wat tan hor and curry laksa. Both taste great. Very quick service in terms of order taking and food service.

Had dinner here for the first time on a quiet Sunday. Service was prompt. Ordered a range of dishes that arrived in good time. Flavour was 50/50, chicken laksa soup tasted more like curry. Char grilled tofu with peanut sauce was tasty. Chicken wanton soup was awful, no taste in the soup. Fried dumplings were nice. Probably wouldn't go back. Nothing special.

Best coconut rice I've had, delicious gado-gado with several vegetarian options on the menu. Head chef very welcoming, super friendly, and happily modifying menu options to suit individual diets and preferences. Highly recommended!

Avoid this restaurant, I would like to rename this place as "Kitchen Spew" Now... to the owner if your listening, that chicken your using had more rubber sinew that my last pair of Nike's .. Your main courses are in urgent need of a qualified Malaysian chef.... And instant coffee..? What are you thinking ..? And lastly, anyone can spot canned fruit with black and gold ice cream No wonder we stay home and cook

Loved this place until the meal we got last night. $92 worth. In the rubbish. Called to ask if they were under new management- yes. Told the new manager we loved the place and had never had bad food and after last night it was unlikely we would be back. He couldnt care less. That’s a way to keep your loyal customers!!! Rather poor! Don’t think they will last long now!!!

Don’t let appearances fool you—the decor may seem dated , but the food is great! The staff are on point and the owner was very grwcious and hospitable! We found this place by accident so it was a lovely surprise! This place is perfect for takeaways or a dining. Their beef Rendang and satay are my favourite!

We had the gado gado, char kway teow and curry chicken laksa. The flavours are all quite nice - the char kway teow is gorgeous. The gado gado is an excellent mix of sweet and savoury. While the chicken in the laksa could have a bit more flavour, the dish has a lovely balanced flavour overall. (And of course it the broth tastes like curry - it IS a curry dish!) Overall, as my ‘Nai Nai’ would say: “It’s up to standard!” Nicely done.

Thought I’d shorten my last review. Fantastic food, fantastic place, too bad it’s hidden away but once you try it, it is amazing. The waiter Aaron is super experienced an can handle anything thrown at him, even people with allergies and fussiness all handled with care, even went out of his way to tell us to avoid certain dishes that had onions or garlic. Thank you guys

Often have takeaways at this joint, fantastic food, love thier sesame chilli chicken, Mongolian beef.
Round tables are available for families to have meals together too! 👍🏻

The beef skewers were chewy, tasteless and sitting in a pool of oil on the plate. The meat was still raw in the middle. The peanut sauce was way too sweet. Very disappointing 😑

Great Malaysian restaurant at this corner of town. Sesame chicken, butter prawn, corn soup and deep fried ice cream are delicious. Good for regular takeaway if you are in the area.

KitchenKu is a hidden gem that's unseen from Plenty Road but well worth looking for. It's been there about 20 years so the locals who love Malaysian go there often. Mrs Canuck loves their gado gado.

Great food and fast service. Definitely worth a visit.

Authentic, clean flavours for the Laksa, and one of the most authentic and delicious Char Kway Teow I've had in years! Happy Customer and a relative local, definitely coming back!

Hidden gem in Mill Park. Ive never tried a malaysian cuisine as authentic as theirs. I've heard from a friend who used to work there that they import their ingredients from Malaysia. My go-to dishes are buttered prawns, sesame chilli beef and chilli garlic chicken.

Decent Chinese Malay in the area. There are other ones which I have not tried to compare but was happy with the food. The wok fried noodles could have used a little bit more char and wok fire.

The feed here is spot on. The Gado Gado is grouse. I've been here many times and will continue to do so in the future. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Terrible- worst laksa I've ever eaten, hardly any veggies, no flavor, and chicken meat was like the odd cuts of chicken you wouldn't serve. Also terrible service. Would never go back.

Have been coming here for at least a decade, food is up there with the best Asian in Melbourne. Fav dishes are the sesame chilli beef, tomato prawns and the gado gado (haven't found a better gado gado and I have been to Asia many times looking). Never been disappointed, great Asian good and great value for money. Family run business and the family are lovely with great service.

Used to come here regularly about 10 years ago and I'm happy to report that the food remains just as good. The restaurant itself looks a bit tired, but is clean and the service is friendly and efficient.

The food is the real star. It is delivered promptly from the ktichen, piping hot. Beef Rendang Istimewa is delicious. The medium heat level is very mild/not hot at all and really highlights the amazing flavour. Staff are happy to tailor the spice to your level. Butter prawns were also great. The crunchy fried butter was oh so unhealthy but that just made it taste better. Ayam Pandan was full of flavour. It is deep fried which is a little unusual as many restaurants steam it instead. However, it is not at all oily. The pork lobak is amazing as well. The skin is perfectly crunchy and meat is moist and full of flavour.

We couldn't resist dessert. The banana fritter is great, the batter was crispy and sweet. The deep fried ice cream was also delicious.

Though it is a fair trek across town for us to visit, we will have to come back very soon.

Amazing food and almost everything can be done gluten free! My boyfriends favourite is the chicken ribs and mine is the sweet and sour pork. We can never order just one dish each though!

My favorites from here are the Sa Hor Fun (best in Melbourne I reckon) and Fish head noodles soup. The service is very good. The boss and his wife are friendly people. I always like going back there.

Not worth eating at!. Food was good, great in fact but only as Take Away.
Didn't enjoy the wait staff hovering and asking continually if we were ready to order!
The wait staff wanted to clear our plates away whilst we were still eating.
The deep fried ice cream was more deep frozen than fried. A knife and fork was needed to eat it. Whatever it was that the ice-cream was coated in was just terrible.
We shall not be returning any time soon as their manners were ordinary and it just looked like they wanted to get out of there!

Best Asian food in the area. Will come back here again, food is marvellous. Ordered entree and it came within seconds, very well organised and the staff are super friendly.
Main portion size is very generous, price is pretty cheap too. Will be back soon.

Our Family Favourite. Kitchen Ku is the only place we get our Asian takeaway from. Our family has been ordering from here for more than 10 years. Always the same foods: fried rice, salt and pepper calamari, chilli cashew chicken, sesame chilli chicken and roti, which is more than enough to feed 6 people ion my family. Sometimes we will have the beef black bean or Singapore noodles and never had any issues. This food is authentic and full of flavour, unlike an Asian place across the road which was so disappointing, when we thought we'd try something different. Don't listen to the other reviews, give this place a shot!

Internet review.. Food was amazing, was amazed by the price and quality of the food. Ignore all the reviews, would reccomend this place to anyone. Lovely staff, customer service was also very good.

Average & no authentic flavours. Salt & pepper squid was nice and tender but Satay Chicken dry and ordinary. Prawn Fritters were tasteless. Will not go back.
Mark
Had a chicken curry dish here and all the chicken was fat.wouldnt eat here.

Love KitchenKu has super service and all time best Malaysian dishes - chilli cashew prawns and salt n pepper calamari are amazing! Staff are attentive and chef is super quick. We will be back again and again :-)

Average food- their specialties were lackluster and eaten in small area that is lacking any decor. The only positive was the service we recieved from the waitress (despite being rushed off her feet). Not impressed at all.

Food smells amazing.. Taste not so good

Dissapointed , over priced. Ordered rendang beef under cooked and tough container wasn't even full , garlic prawns had 5 prawns and cost $17.80 , coconut rice also undercooked and grainy flavored were ok not great. first and last time. Not recommend

Average food on a small restaurant. Needs a liquor licence

Excellent fried rice best

Not Authentic. I ordered the fried beef noodles and char koey teow for takeaways just to see how authentic is their food and sad to say it's not. Tasted really bland and no where near the original. No wonder the place is so quiet.

Delicious. We tried this place on Saturday night as it looked relatively quiet, and was amazed at how good it was. For Entrée we had the Satay Chicken and Satay Beef Skewers, which we loved. The sauce had a little nutty flavour to it, and the chicken and beef were cooked so tender. We also tried the Murtabak, which was pretty spicy despite saying it was mild. It tasted alright; the sauce was a little sour which was good since the lamb filled pastry with spices was very sweet, so it was a good balance. For mains we tried the Mongolian Beef, which was very tasty, and the Chilli Cashew Beef which is my new favourite, as the sauce was just marvellous and so full of flavour. Both dishes had plenty of meal and the portion sizes were generous. The service was spot on and friendly, though it was quiet for a Saturday. The place is pretty cheap to, for the quality food you're getting. It defiantly beats my local Chinese place, we will be back!
