What a difference a week makes... last Sunday we came back to Mitcham Social for a relaxed low key Sunday lunch in this huge venue and now we are all back to isolation. I actually liked the space around me that having reduced tables meant and we were lucky to get a table by the fire. Three of us shared a ultra tender lamb should that had been slowly roasted in the wood fire oven. We also got reacquainted with the prawn pizza we had last visit (really was worth having again).
Our host was cheerful and upbeat. Will have to look forward to future visits in the warmer months.

I came with the extended in-laws family to celebrate my birthday, my father in laws birthday and my nephews birthday (all a day apart). The venue is in an old industrial circuit and had that rustic charm and character. We were there in a Sunday night and there was still plenty of atmosphere. We had a huge table for the 12 of us but it could have easily seared 20 I suspect.
Food wise a short list with a healthy range of pizzas and American style bar snacks. Most went for the wildfire pizza and we had the garlic and prawn on recommendation. It was a tasty pizza with a big bubbly crust. We also had the buffalo chicken wings with a side of chips and a blue cheese dipping sauce. These were hot wings and a messy eat... in other words perfect.
We enjoyed the pints while Kellie tried the Southside spritz cocktail on tap.
Sadly our evening was cut short at 8pm which was closing time on a Sunday night... otherwise we might still have been there.
Excellent venue for kids with an ice cream counter and play area. Cocktails were approx $20 and pints $13. Reasonable wine selection.
Was lucky enough to enjoy the Lamb shoulder deal this weekend! Slow roasted lamb, with gravy, roasted veg, garlic bread and pudding. OMG best Sunday dinner ever! The whole process was so easy and clean, great job guys
Great restaurant that has brought a great city like buzz to Melbourne's outer suburbs! Mitcham Social has a lot of variety within its menu, but I can't help but keep coming back to their woodfire pizzas! Their chocolatini (choc martini) dessert drink is something everyone must try at least once! Keep up the great work guys!
Friends made a group booking. The venue has a great vibe along with some great cocktails on the menu. The woodfired pizza is great and perfect for sharing.
Proof that you can't judge a book by its cover, Mitcham Social at first appears to be another warehouse in an industrial estate; but on closer inspection turns out to be the most fun you can have in this suburb. The huge space has been converted into an open space catering to small and large groups looking for a few drinks and some delicious food. The bar and kitchen span one wall, whilst there are also a designated kids play zone, pool table and outdoor seating as well.
The owners have created a relaxed and comfortable vibe, and the staff here are just as chilled and friendly. They were helpful in suggesting cocktails and food recommendations, and we happily settled in for an afternoon of fun.
The menu is varied, with lots of wood fired pizzas, burgers and small tapas style dishes. They also have an amazing special which is a massive lamb shoulder on a whole ciabatta with Camembert, gravy, chips and sides. More than enough to feed six people, all for $100. One was ordered for a table next to ours and it was seriously massive.
As there were only two of us, we bypassed the special and instead ordered the famous sticky frued chicken and a pumpkin pizza.
The pizza was fantastic, with that smoky taste that comes from a wood fired oven. Oozing with cheese and sweet pumpkin, it really was delicious. The standout dish was the chicken. So crispy with a sweet and spicy sticky sauce. Absolutely finger licking good, and so addictive. The chicken was still moist and it was an extremely flavoursome dish.
At the suggestion of our waiter, we couldn't resist dessert, and we chose the donuts with Nutella cream. Oh my. This platter was just divine. Hot cinnamon dough balls to dip into a sweet chocolate cream... a marriage made in heaven. Messy, but oh so worth it.
The whole time we were here we were surrounded by groups and families enjoying the weekend sunshine in this cool venue. The staff were busy, but still efficient and everything arrived promptly. We were told about their Sunday sessions which include live music, so we are keen to return another day to enjoy the awesome atmosphere, service and food again.
Before even entering, I could tell Mitcham Social was going to be something special in the eastern suburbs.
Honestly, I have never seen anything like it before living in this area for 20 years.
Making my way to the entrance, I was welcomed by a quaint outdoor beer garden, and a friendly staff member.
I was seated promptly by the very friendly, enthusiastic and inviting manager who explained everything about the venue, and all that it offers which yes it does offer a lot.
The first thing I noticed as I settled in was the beautiful decor with the large butterfly artwork on the wall, the fireplace, the stage and the hanging lights creating an intimate yet social setting creating a perfect atmosphere for all demographics. The venue was fully booked and I could really see why.
After we ordered, our food and drinks came out within about 10 minutes which I was really impressed with.
The first items we ordered were the 2 chicken pizzas on offer. They were beautifully woodfired and crispy at the bottom and the flavours in the pizza wow. Subtle yet so powerful with large chunks of chicken on both. When I eat pizza I usually can eat a whole one but I was full after just 3 slices, that's how amazing they were - thick bases and loads of toppings. I have to also note I ordered one with a gluten free base and both me and my guest could not even taste the difference. It was just excellent!
We also ordered some sides like the chicken bits and the beer battered chips. The chicken bits were fried to perfection with a crispy battered coating and the chips were thick and had a unique flavour as well.
For dessert, we ordered the vegan ice cream. I couldn't believe it was vegan. It was creamy and had a gorgeous coconut flavour. Although the food was stellar, this ice cream was one of the highlights for us because it was so unique.
I had such an outstanding experience at Mitcham Social last night, from the amazing service to the buzzing ambience and most importantly the perfect food. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone who lives in the eastern suburbs.
Thank you Mitcham Social for the invite and I cannot wait to return!
Impressive interior located in a warehouse. Each section of the cafe is well set with self serve cutlery, live music on Friday and Sunday nights, a beautiful blue butterfly and bar.
Feel the different vibes in the day and night.
Margarita pizza is so impressive. Wood fire pizza with the the most crisp crust, thin base but enough to still hold its form . The cheese is stretchy and the sauce is perfect.
Beer battered chips are cooked fresh. Golden brown with a soft yet crisp taste. As you can see even the chips are happy :)
Pork belly cube so the delicious. The most crisp skin but tender enough that the pork breaks apart so easily. The sauce is well made.
This dish came last due to the time taken to make. We ordered the recommended sticky fried boneless chicken with fresh chilli and all I can say is wow. The batter is so thick and crispy. Each bite is so flavoured with a slight spicy kick to it
The chocolatati is so well infused and powerful. The combination of the absolut vodka, chocolate liqueur and the baileys and chocolate fudge icecream add so much sweetness to the drink.
A big thankyou to Mitcham social for the invite. I love how you treat each person who dines there with the best experience ♡.

Great place to come with a bunch of people. Heaps of space, decent music and the food was really solid. Cheers guys!
As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted with some friendly staff at the door.
The place looked amazing! It was very spacious and looked like a modern industrial-like building surrounded by brick walls and nice butterfly wall art. There is even a toys area for kids to play in!
We ordered a raspberry lemonade to start with, and then ordered these yummy dishes:
- Sticky fried chicken - fresh chilli, spring onion, sesame seeds: This was one of the recommended dishes and it sure tasted delicious! It was bite sized boneless chicken covered in a thick unique sauce mmmmm...
- Crispy pork belly cubes with toasted macadamia salad - These cubes were huge and there were a lot of them! The meat was cooked perfectly and each was topped with a crackling pork on top. Was told the way to eat it is to place a cube on your plate and then pour the hot sauce over it so it turns into this melt-in-mouth goodness! Definitely was a different experience eating it with the sauce and without it!
- Garlic prawn, parsley, mozzarella, calamari wood fired pizza - This was actually one of the best pizza's I've ever had! The dough was really nice and crunchy, the tomato base was really really tasty and not sour, and the garlic prawn and calamari was just soo good on top! No chewy bits and the scent was just so irresistable when it arrived at the table. Craving for this now!! I must go back for this pizza as I can't get this taste anywhere else!
We finished off the with Sticky date pudding toffee sauce - well I can't stop eating it in the middle of the meal already because it was just sitting there looking so good. The toffee sauce was spot on and the sticky date pudding was just so delicious!
I loved everything about this place and I will definitely bring more friends to come back and try the lamb shoulder that they recommended (but you need to be super hungry to devour it I heard)! Thank you Mitcham Social for the awesome dinner.
I was expecting Mitcham Social to be some sort of classic Aussie gastropub but was pleasantly surprised to find it has much more going on that that. The venue is massive and located in what looks like an old barn that’s been fully revamped. It features a stage, cool light fixtures, a big pizza oven and a vibe that feels very American, thus appealing to my nostalgia. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. While the menu is pretty classic, there are tons of veggie options or alterations including a sweet and sticky tofu (as an alternative for chicken) with a finger-licking good sauce. I’m such a fan of saganaki and this spot’s variation served with roquette and dried fruit jam doesn’t disappoint. I also tried the super cheesy Margherita and the roquette and pear salad to freshen things up. My partner and I somehow managed to demolish everything (including pots of sour beer and milk stout) despite getting full towards the end because the flavours all merged so well. On top of the good food and ambiance, the service at Mitcham Social is top notch. In line with the American feel, the hospitality is great, in true southern US fashion.
Mitcham Social invited us to try some of their menu items. We were wowed by the set up of the place. They did an amazing job in transforming this ex-steel factory into a warm, welcoming family style restaurant.
Orders were made at the counter. There were a couple of cutlery stations with an ample choice of sauces (including my fave, Thai sweet chilli sauce!). Our food arrived very quickly and we couldn't wait to tuck in.
The dish of the day was their signature sticky fried chicken. Tender pieces of chicken breast with a crunchy coating were drenched in a sweet, sticky sauce. Eating it with the chillies and basil resulted in a taste explosion in my mouth.
The rocket and pear salad was such a clever combination. Topped with parmesan cheese and balsamic dressing, this was refreshing and texturally exciting.
The prosciutto, rocket and parmesan wood fire pizza was another winner. The dough was chewy and the simple toppings were delicious.
The family friendly vibe was a huge plus. This place is ideal for family or workplace gatherings. Definitely worth re-visiting.
Great venue. Has a good vibe. The woodfired pizza was great along with the espresso martini
Mitcham Social: the weekend hot spot, the Friday night watering hole for Mitcham locals (and neighbouring suburbs) brimming with good vibes, beers, pizza and music. I couldn’t believe how busy the place was already at 7pm—it seems the regulars clock off at 5 and enjoy an after work bev and pizza with their mates. You’ll find groups of young people, couples and families enjoying the friendly ambience and chatter bouncing off the brick walls. The huge industrial space has been renovated into something along the lines of a pub and a dining hall. Known for their pizzas, we ordered the pumpkin and prosciutto pizzas, guzzled down with some quality drops from their extensive drinks and cocktail menu. We also couldn’t go past the doughnut balls which have recently returned back to the desserts menu by popular demand. If you’re after good times, a generous feed and place to let your hair down on a Friday night, check out Mitcham Social.
Such a great open space, I loved the outdoor seating also. Friendly happy staff who are happy to accommodate you with anything you need. The food came out so quickly and the flavours were on point. My favourites were definitely the pork Belly and Sticky Chicken. The menu was full of great options and I can’t wait to go back to try more items. Highly Recommend.
Great venue, huge range of food options and seating is ample. The woodfired pizza was great and the chocolate martini was a real winner in the group
Ordered the four cheeses pizza and doughnut balls. You could say I was in dough heaven! Not only did it taste amazing, but fast service and reasonable price. Thank you Mitcham Social!
I am so glad we finally got to stop by the Mitcham Social and see what this place is all about!
We enjoyed our beautiful wood fired pizza so much, it was a nice chance to get a pizza with a thick and fluffy base instead of a paper thin one, loved it!
We got a side serving of the calamari and although delicious, a little over priced for the amount that we received. Non the less, it was still enjoyable.
The Mitcham Social has such a warm, fun, relaxed and energetic atmosphere and it is the most perfect place to eat and have a drink with friends and family. There’s even a pool table and live music to top it all off.
Can’t wait to come back next time and try out the tasting board, looked delicious!
The venue of Mitcham social is just awesome! Love the vibe and atmosphere here.
They have quite an extensive menu but to me, the gem of the experience there is the pizza. Quality hand-stretched wood-fired pizza goodness with quality ingredients.
My sister organised fathers day lunch here for our family. I can't believe where the place was located it was great to see a space utilised in such a way. The atmosphere was great and relaxed and the food was awesome. Great value for money with the servings. Highly recommended.
Came here with a few friends last week for a pizza night! The woodfire pizzas are delicious so it was the perfect place for a get-together. We ordered a few different types to the table to share as well as some wine and cocktails! The pizzas were the perfect combination of crunch and melt in your mouth, we also loved that you can see the pizza oven. Service and vibe great too! Looking forward to coming back soon.
I enjoy the food and drinks here very much and such a lovely bright and open atmosphere during the day. However, when I went there last time on a Saturday night, it was packed and 4 of us can hardly hear each other on the table because the walls don’t absorb any sounds and just bounced all the noises back unfortunately.
Amazing and unique Woodfire Pizzas! My friends and I recently came by for dinner and we weren't disappointed. Thin dough with the perfect crust, flavorful tomato sauce and a good amount of toppings! Definitely one of the best pizzas I've had in Melbourne.
Especially the Pumpkin, Ricotta, Sage Pizza was great! Never seen that combo before and I was pleasantly surprised!
My daughter-in-law and I visited here after seeing the kids play area promoted on their Instagram page. The little ones had a great time (there's a blackboard and giant jenga set that were popular choices for them) while we ate.
The woodfire pizzas are delicious, good crusts and toppings. You can see the pizza oven so it's great to see the pizzas made and cooked fresh to order. We had the 'Real Hawaiian' and 'Pumpkin, Ricotta, Sage' pizzas, both had plenty of toppings. Would definitely recommend!
Also the big blue butterfly wall-art was great!
Great pizza's! Came down with a group of friends for a feed and they exceeded all expectations, the woodfired pizza simply melted in your mouth and tasted fantastic.
It’s a great venue fitted out nicely, spacious, airy plenty of room to move around. Live music Sunday afternoon.
Order food at bar, so better for groups, no hassle splitting bills at the end.
Great concept with good, can share plates or eat individually. The woodfired Hawaiian pizza was supurb, and the rocket and pear salad was a generous portion.
Bookings recommend here, pretty busy.
You really can't go wrong here. Really nice selection of meals at a reasonable price. Perfect place to have dinner with family and friends and even better for the kids!
A great venue with quality food and an atmosphere to match! The pizza and the loaded fries were a highlight in the food department for me and the cocktails were made perfectly. A must visit venue for anyone in the area, even if you have kids - there is a kids play area, genius!
Had a really enjoyable night here. Perfect for after work drinks and snacks. Great food and beer on tap too. Live music was a nice bonus although it was hard to talk so maybe take it down a notch. I don’t want to highly recommend because I don’t want too many people to discover it! Great service too from the former Red Cup Cafe owners. Okay, highly recommend, just don’t tell anyone else.
Unique and roomy building. Some very nice beers on menu and reasonably priced pizzas. I have to say my 4 cheese pizza could have used something stronger such as Feta to balance out the overpowering more basic cheeses (I detected tasty or something of that style) which inadvertently made the pizza more bland. The actually location has potential to be a great spot for live music. Look forward to returning at a more lively hour for a proper judgement.
Nice friendly pub in the Eastern Suburbs ..... No need to visit Richmond. I had the Calamari and a beer for $35.50. Good warehouse style ambience. Perhaps there can be live music after Covid .... we can only dream.
Great atmosphere
Wheelchair friendly
Family Run business
Smart menu with delicious pate and home baked bread.
Great place to catch up with friends or have an ambient bevi after work.
Highly recommended.
Our first time here. Great lively atmosphere in an amazing revamped warehouse with lofty ceilings & background music.
A hidden gem we didn't know existed until a friend recommended it as her favourite local go to. Parking was easy with a spot right outside the restaurant.
Staff were excellent, warm & welcoming & service was prompt.
Enjoyed our tasty wood-fired pizzas with a nice bottle of red.
Very happy we visited.
Tasty pizza, generous serving of pate, easy setting for large groups/families (plenty of high chairs). Love the warehouse/tall ceiling vibes.
Drinks were very well priced - house cocktails and other drinks on tap!
Wait staff always very friendly and welcome - it has become a local haunt for me
Highly recommend this venue for a party. We tied the knot in a small ceremony and have a big happily every after party at Mitcham Social. The venue was set up perfectly with lots of space and the staff were very accommodating. The food packages are very well priced and they kept rolling food out all night without capping at a qty which was great! They fed as much as our guests wanted to eat. Aside from our event, this is a great restaurant to dine at for lunches and dinners. Highly recommend to anyone looking at a place to eat or for your next event :)
🎸🍷🍔 Thanks Michael and crew for a FAB night. Brunswick style venue in Mitcham ! Excellent food and much appreciated fast and efficient service by a genuinely friendly team. I like the open atmosphere, easy access and no stress no-pay parking right out front. Our table of 7 BB musicians had our regular 6-stringers catch up for the first time at Mitcham Social Club and we'll be back again. Thanks too for being okay with us playing our acoustic guitars and singing great songs of the 60's and 70's. The staff were getting in on it too 😃. CYA next time. Cheers, Jackson, Doc, Mark, Sam, Lou, Ange, and Woolly 🎸
staff are all friendly and welcoming! Very reasonably priced with generous portion sizes 🙌🏻 Venue is great for friends and family!
Have been to the Mitcham Social a few times as it's only a short walk from the main drag of Mitcham and is several times nicer than anything else in the area. Great ambiance thanks to the high industrial ceilings and gentle lighting. Every time I've been, there has been a new selection of beers on tap. Food is great but on the pricier side. Woodfire pizzas are the highlight. If you want a more memorable night, skip the bistro and enjoy an evening at the Social before heading out elsewhere or as the main destination of your evening.
