Free range chicken was very tasty.

Vegetables are still crunchy unlike some takeaway places where it's always overcooked. A tad more expensive but the quality is worth it.
Quail is dry and is not spicy.
They always forget to give the fresh chillies and chilli sauce that I ask for.
Good food, throughly enjoyed it. Would recommend the pig knuckle/feet? for sure. Crispy, tender. Although decor and service might be average, the food is def 4/5. Would visit again !

Organised a birthday lunch for 30pax.Everything went smoothly, food was fantastic based on feedback from all attendees, service was prompt and friendly.Reasonably priced and all well taken care of. This is my 1st time back under a new ownership.I have patronised here with each change of ownership(3rd now) but I must say the food is still very yummy. Thanks for accommodating such a crowd today. Tucked away in the corner beside the Mitcham train station is this unassuming restaurant that serves big and bold dishes. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Dirty plates were swapped with fresh clean ones, the teapot was always refreshed and children were accommodated with no fuss.
The food itself was amazing. The highlight of the night was the beautifully presented pork hock (which has to be pre-ordered) - crispy, well seasoned pork skin covering tender, juicy pork meat...simply sublime!
Their other specialty, the mustard beef was jaw droppingly soft and tasty. The mustard was not overpowering and went well with the beef.
The other dishes were of a high standard and the meal reached a crescendo with the red bean pancake - warm sweet red beans encased in a crispy savoury pancake.
So if you are feeling down and need some elation, come here and leave elated!

Recommended by a good friend. This place didn’t disappoint me. We booked thru Zomato online and a lady called me back almost immediately to confirm the table. We ordered few dishes to try out non of them disappoint me, delicious !! At the end of the meal, they even complimented each of us a bowl of Chinese dessert. I don’t quite like the taste but I’m happy that they have their customers in their mind !! Not many restaurants are practicing this but I’m truly happy to dine here.

Came here for dinner with a mate, and was delighted by the food and the service. The crab was fresh, fragrant and had loads of flavor and a generous portion of noodles (served with a touch of drama :-), the crocodile was surprisingly good (we ordered it as a novelty, but it was not chewy and did not taste gamey and the chillies and spices lifted the dish). The pock hock was another highlight, scrumptious, crunchy skin, and all cut up ready to eat. We also ordered some greens and stuff tofu to round out the meal. The complimentary dessert hot sweet soup was a nice touch. Service was attentive, and prompt and overall it was a great service. Prices are above average, but not outrageous for what you get. Will definitely be back!
My first visit was positive and my second confirmed that they are special Try their offer of drunken chicken with herbs and vegetables.Their crispy skin pork hog is their best seller. Their hot pot crabs is also delicious
The food here is generally decent, but their roasted crispy pork trotter is TO DIE FOR. Super crunchy and flavourful on a bed of sweet and sour pickled veggies, I could probably finish it by myself if my family would let me. Given that it's a special high-demand dish though, I believe you have to order it in advance before showing up (and it might only be available on certain days). 100% worth waiting for though. Seriously, do it.
What a fortuitous find on a cold wet Monday Night in Mitcham, I usually don't rate a restaurant until I have eaten there at least three or four times but the three dishes served to us tonight in this small unassuming Chinese eatery, tucked away under an apartment complex beside Mitcham railway station were simply just too good not to mention and are amongst the best things I have eaten in weeks. Abalone served in it's shell with a simple ginger and shallot sauce, generously sized servings of deep fried calamari, steamed rice and a hotpot dish of eggplant with minced chicken followed and all were beautifully cooked and served with an obvious care and pride in the presentation of the dishes. With a $2.00 a head corkage charge and change from $60.00 we walked away full and very contented, we are already planning our next visit.
I was very surprised at this unassuming little place near Mitcham station. Service was friendly，generous servings and the food was great. The sliced beef was a highlight，so tender.
Some interesting dishes available here you won't find at any other chinese restaurant. Would recommend the crispy skin pork trotter and the free range chicken. Standard chinese restaurant service but the food is redeeming factor. Would come back again to try the other dishes

Quietly positioned behind the junction off Whitehorse Road and Mitcham Road by the Mitcham Train Station on Columbo Street with plenty of parking available.
Loving the iconic bubbly looking Chinese fisherman mural within, this proper tiny restaurant certainly whipped up delightful and delicious range of Hong Kong street type of dishes on every table that aimed to entice others wanting to try.
We chose one of the Banquet menus and thoroughly enjoyed the meal with very generous serving sizes in each dish.
Noted some dishes on their menu had the Chef's own creative elements adapted from other Chinese & Asian cuisine which made the dining experience more unique and memorable.
What was appreciated was that a small restaurant like that had such great capacity to serve some wide variety of Chinese food as well as retaining authenticity and quality of flavours.
Manager was nice and helpful. If more particular, service staff were not the most friendly sort but reasonably polite, will attend as required and speed was evenly paced, thankfully not arriving all at once. Given our table was small, we were happy not being rushed and every dish could be properly enjoyed at the fresh out of kitchen temperature.
To top it off, we found the price very reasonable and would have to find another excuse to come here again. Booking recommended and come hungry!

Great Chinese restaurant right next to Mitcham Train Station. Fantastic food at very reasonable price and good serving size. The only downside is this place is pretty small and hence bookings highly recommended.
Wow what a find in the suburbs! I saw this place come up in reviews the other day and noticed they cooked beef with egg gravy, a dish I've been trying to find outside of the CBD with no luck.
Went for lunch and the lunch specials are a great bang for your buck, huge sizes and still an extensive menu. Between 3 people, ordered the fried fish with sweet corn on rice, the beef with vegetables and rice noodles and the beef with egg gravy on rice (rather than on rice noodles). Service was very friendly and accommodating, the super nice waitress even brought out some water in a container for my dog!!
All the dishes were well cooked and flavoursome, really got the wok flavour in the rice noodles too. Beef was tender and easy to eat and the rice was perfect and fluffy. The food also came out relatively quickly. Suffice to say we will be back to try out more things on the menu!

This is quite a surprising number. Small and tucked away under the set of apartments next to Mitcham station. Been there once for dinner and thrice for lunch on Saturdays. Both the lunch and dinner menu (different item types) are consistent in taste and serving size. The omnipresence of the 'wok breath' is evident. On the other hand, what's also been consistent is their staff/service ratio. It was more visible during dinner when our dishes came out fairly staggered. When you're sitting down for a Cantonese meal, the expectation is all dishes are served at once, with the exception of steamed fish where it comes out at just the right time and everything else just works around it. However in saving grace, the waitering staff are friendly, albeit sometimes appearing disorganized. That all said, it's on our go-to list for weekend lunches.

We visited Elate on the recommendation of a friend and we were not disappointed. Albeit a small restaurant, the food was tasty with the manager and servers being friendly and efficient. Based on what we ordered, we recommend the Pork Hock, as well as the deep fried egg plant which we found to be delicious and not unduly greasy. The manager suggested that the next time we visit, we should order the house special soup which changes daily, diced beef in mustard sauce and the steamed free range chicken. We will definitely be back again to try the other specialities on offer. Do ensure that you make a booking though!

From westernised dishes like lemon chicken to an array of eastern hot pots and fish served whole (yes eyes and all) I don't think I've had anything that didn't taste good.
It is small so you will have to book, or get a take away!
Surprisingly good for a chinese restaurant.. and now I can say that because I am Chinese. I was skeptical because the restaurant is sort of tucked away opposite Mitcham Station but really this place does very high quality dishes with balanced flavours. The ham hock is cool!! and the lamb claypot is soooooo tasty!! Just make sure you eat it before it boils away too much otherwise by the end it gets salty. But it is delicious.

As a Malaysian Chinese, this place looked ordinary. But don't judge the book by its cover. This place has the best quarter/half/whole chicken (think is called wine chicken or plain chicken). I didn't order and forgotten what it was called. Other dishes with seafood are really delicious and not oily at all!

This is my family's go-to-restaurant for special occasions. After our last go-to-restaurant changed owners, we had been searching for over 3 years for a quality Chinese restaurant and we found it at Elate Kitchen. We always get the crab/lobster banquet here, which comes with herbal soup, crab/lobster noodles, steamed fish and 2 dishes of your choice ($148 for crab and $228 for lobster - I did say special occasion). Unfortunately this menu is only available in Chinese - maybe they made the assumption that non-Chinese customers wouldn't order these type of dishes. But regardless they really should have this option available in English for everybody. I haven't had a bad tasting dish here - Lobster is fresh, noodles come with plenty of flavorsome sauce and fresh herbs. Steamed fish was cooked perfectly. We got the golden chicken which wasn't as good as it was last time we came here - it lacked salt, but was crispy and nice nevertheless. The mustard beef is one of my favorites - it has a beautiful sweet and tangy flavor, the beef is cooked to medium rare and is tender, juicy and cut into bite sized chunks that you can put straight into your mouth. Dessert tonight was a coconut sago which was sweet, creamy and just yum. Service is pleasant - the manager is polite, honest and upfront, and staff are attentive in adding water to tea, taking away our bones and changing our plates and bowls. I would've given the place 5.0 if the chicken hadn't been a let down tonight. I don't know about how their food is for lunch, but this will continue to be our special occasion restaurant and we will definitely be back for another crab banquet meal!
Yummmmy!!!! My parents, sister and I came here tonight (Sunday) for mum's birthday. We had the mud crab banquet which contains ginger and spring onion mud crab, Stir-fry crocodile meat in XO sauce, deep fried chicken spare rib, steamed fish, rice, and sweet red bean soup. Everything were yummy :)

Great little place next to Mitcham station. We came here on a Friday night. Pleasant experience, great service and fantastic quality food, and very affordable price. The soup and stir fry clams are delicious! Recommended to book table.
I have visited Elate Kitchen a couple of times so far, once for an afternoon snack, and once for some dinner to take home with me, on both occasions I was treated very well while I waited by the staff, bringing me tea and a cold drink of water. The food was delicious and very comforting.
My little boy loves the rice noodles dishes (hor fun); the gravy is rich and thick and the meat is cut up (specially for him) into bite size toddler pieces instead of the usual adult size pieces in my servings.
The small dining area is intimate, decorated modernly with an oriental flair, the food is great and the service is fantastic. No idea what the first reviewer was ranting on about. The menu is in both English and Chinese, and the staff are bilingual. Not discriminatory at all. Maybe Randal is not used to seeing so many Asians in one place?
We came here on a Saturday night and it was packed (at 6PM). The menu is packed with great looking dishes at reasonable prices. (All in English and Chinese). Looking around the other tables the predominantly Chinese clientele seemed to be enjoying their selections. Always a good sign I reckon.
Normally I would be eating the more "authentic" lesser westernised dishes that this place has plenty of, however my fellow eaters wanted simpler fare of fish with vegies, beef and blackbean and special fried rice.
I normally avoid beef and blackbean as is more often than not way too salty, however I would have to say, the dishes here at Elate were superb. Not over salted, and the emphasis was more in the ingredients.
A great little place to try, but I would recommend booking a table.
A very pleasant experience with great, cheap food. The Singaporean noodles in particular were delicious and the manager Chris was friendly.
A recommendation must also be made to the set meals which feed a small group on a budget more than that can probably eat!
Consistent great service and superb food over past 2 years. Recently had lobster (fresh from tank!) at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended👍🏼.

Honestly just an average. Came a long way to try out something new like many people here ordered crispy skin pork hock, mustards steak, fried bean curds with stuffings and free range chicken. The bean curds stuffings dish were a bit of dissatisfied though not as decent as traditional haka tofu with stuffings standard. Mustards steak abit too salty sauces toppings or too much sauces. As for pock hock is something new i never tried, not bad though but if they add side dipping gravy sauce would be nice though abit of mixed fusion western and eastern. The free range chicken is nice but for the price like $50 for the whole chicken that is not boneless cuts kind of way too expensive. But i do like the tea cup and teapot sets though. Today they ran out of soups. Which kind of disappointed 😞. Is weekend and mother's day special evenings.
First time here and I liked the dishes offered especially the mustard braised beef and the grilled shredded pork hock
Again the second time on 24 May 2018 we were introduced to their herbal wine chicken hot pot and their mud crab with glass noodles
Both were excellent in taste.

With a new owner and new chefs the signature crispy skin pork dish tasted just as good as before
So was the mustard beef steaks with broccoli dish
They have kept up the standard and diner's expectations
An absolute hidden gem that, if it were not for my friends suggestion, would never have known it existed. Its the perfect place for a casual dinner but you're after real southern Chinese cooking. Every dish was on point and I'll definitely be back again.
Had Xmas lunch there today for 3 of us. Have to say the service and the food were excellent. Will be a regular customer now we know where they are. Fantastic.
My favorite restaurant in this area. Authentic and delicious Chinese & Cantonese food. Careful cooking plus fresh materials. Visited more than 20 times and always found good surprises. I can give above 5 STAR.
