Review Armchair Collective - Mona Vale

Wallachia
A lovely place for brunch with good service. Menu is on the smaller side, but there was enough there to interest us. Pulled pork bowl and corn fritters were a treat, as they were cooked perfectly and full of flavour. Servings were on the smaller side, but didn't leave hungry and the price was about right (~$19) for what we got. No table service which is unfortunate, however the friendly wait staff made up for it Would love to come back.

Excellent breakfast, good coffee. Comfortable environment filled with homewares and nik naks that you can buy if you're so inclined. My breakfast was the "big breakfast " with shashouka, bacon, 2 poached eggs, Turkish bread and hash brown, kept me going all day. Good value. Will definitely come here again. Slightly different breakfast menu with plenty to chose from, not the usual bacon and eggs on toast offerings. Highly recommend giving it a go.

Had my first sit down brunch here on Sunday. I really enjoyed by chilli scrambled eggs, the pumpkin was a surprising and tasty addition, highly recommended. Good vibe and great location.

Very warm and friendly environment interior and staff. Nice for brunch on the weekend. Pretty busy on Saturday morning. It is bit high price compare to other place but I guess it is because of the location:) You can also buy stuff as they sell it inside

A charming North facing cafe at Mona Vale about 150 mts from the beach. The coffee tasted like a good Campos but I need to confirm the brand. Also plenty of homewares for sale beyond the confines of the cafe. Take a look, it's very pleasant.

Love going there for lunch for days working from home. Food is really nice and I love the atmosphere of the place. One of my favourite cafes on the northen beaches

Great food, average coffee, service is lacking. We waited by the door for a while before being acknowledged (holding a toddler, a few minutes feels like a long time!). The waitress didn't explain to order at the bar & when I asked for a menu, I was directed to the bar, even though she was standing only a few places from where they are stored. The waitress didn't offer a child seat even though it was clear we had a toddler. She didn't even bring table water or anything. Could be made to feel more welcome. Falafel could do with slicing as the second half of the pita is just filled with lettuce but the taste & texture was fantastic. Sweet potato wedges were fantastically crispy. Would appreciate no salt being added but should have requested that. Mocha was ok, could have used a better chocolate for it.

Baked polenta field mushroom kale pesto egg and hummus - absolutely best breakfast Iā€™ve had in years. Food made with love ļæ½ if there were 10 stars Iā€™d give it. Thank you for making my day. Will be back again and again

Great food today, thank you. The Goodness Bowl was nice and fresh. We loved it. Table service would be so much better. Might be worth looking into. Also really like the big glass vase on the glass top table. Was that for sale? Thanks for a yummy brunch. ļæ½

This place is absolutely amazing. I travel from Cronulla for the gorgeous atmosphere, consistency in food and my favourite- blended iced coffee with a dash of salted caramel šŸ˜ My patner introduced this little gem well over a year ago and have never been disappointed. As a chef I find it hard to find a good establishment that I enjoy, but this place tops the cake by miles!!!! Keep up the fantastic work! I'll be back next week for my delights

Itā€™s always a great place to go when I am visiting the area. I start at Palm Beach, and drive along the Peninsula to Manly. Armchair Collective is my favourite stop tho. I love the atmosphere, flowers, homewares and of course the food. 5 āļø

Armchair is one of our most favourite places to go to. We live quite a distance from Mona Vale but we still love getting to the ocean when we can and we always head to Mona Vale and have breakfast or lunch at Armchair - their food is unique, delicious and their service is outstanding always. I tried something different yesterday, the beetroot gnocchi, and I loved it :)

My portion was very small my other two friends ordered the same and got more food and 2 slices of bread I just got one! looks like they divided in a hurry the food.

Visited today from Melbourne. Great food, great atmosphere and great staff!!! I bought some lovely things to take home. Will drop in again before we head back.

Went to have lunch yesterday with the family. Had the vege burger it was delicious. Was a bit sad that there wasn't any iced tea left when it wasn't even 2pm yet. Orange Juice wasn't fresh either when they offer other fresh juices which was a shame! But yeah good food just need to have more of the drinks :)
Heidi Adams
Great fresh food. Happy to cater for gluten free requests. Friendly environment & great vibes.

Family/friendly atmosphere, delicious food and unique cafe. Must place to visit in Sydney.

Had lunch for my son's birthday... it was great... even when what we ordered couldn't be delivered, they apologized and offered other items and refunded the difference... the food was great and the service came with smilez! We'll be back.

Seafood chowder today was delicious and I love the ambience here, next time will come with time to spare so I can truly browse and take it all in!

Venue is just by the beach. I went on a Sunday and it was packed but I still was able to find a seat. The menu had a good range of items including gluten free and vegetarian options. I tried the gluten free gnocchi with chorizo and the baked eggs dish. Both dishes were garnished nicely and tasty. Coffee/hot chocolate was also good. The service was quick and the staff were helpful when asked for anything. This venue has lots of homewares to buy as well. Slightly pricey but very cute/nice things.

Stopped by the Armchair Collective which is conveniently located near Mona Vale Beach. When I arrived for breakfast, the cafƩ was already packed with beachgoers.

I originally wanted to try the aƧai bowl which sounded absolutely divine and was one of their only dairy free items however they had sold out by the time I arrived. I ended up going with the sweet corn fritters which were really tasty and filling. My friend commented that they were the best fritters he had ever tried so might be a good item to try out for those thinking of visiting.

Overall, I enjoyed the food and tea at Armchair Collective. If this cafƩ was a little more accommodating to food intolerances and allergies, it would have been a better experience for me personally.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

The spot is amazing! 100m away from the sea, the outdoor seating area looks very Byron Bayā€™s cafes! Love it! But inside is so messy with all these items for sale. The coffee was great, And the food delicious. I had a corn fritter with pea purĆ©e. The young crew brings good vibes. šŸ‘šŸ»

First tip, grab a street park as the council fees are outrageous. This is a cracker spot in Mona, and a bit of a womanā€™s delight being a cafe in a homewears shop.

Food was good although.... itā€™s pretty safe, presentation was good but the hollandaise was lacking the lemon zing it should have. The coffee was excellent, really earthy and chocolatey. Def going back!

My second home, my local, my happy place.
This cafe isnā€™t just a good cafe with amazing food that looks like an artwork on a plate... sure it has all of that too.. but itā€™s a space to have a coffee (or one of their fancy smoothies or juices) and just chill out!
The service is out of this world good with friendly staff who bother to learn your name and your usual order. They really seem to push their service to the next level and Iā€™m always impressed.
Not only does this cafe sell food and drink but also has all sorts of stuff you can buy from tea pots to pot plants, fresh flowers to books and cards, candles to blankets and pillows! Thereā€™s all sorts!
I highly recommend this cafe to anyone; whether youā€™re a local or just a visitor to the northern beaches šŸ’•

Delicious food and burgers, on the pricey side but normal. Surrounded by decor and is quite interesting. Great location right next to beach and quite busy

Love this place ! Great atmosphere and good healthy food for those who are watching their intake. I love how they incorporate a vintage, aesthetic vibes by adding cute items that they sell in the store. Such a unique concept. Highly recommend the goodness bowl, if you're feeling naughty, add extra chorizo to top it all off!

I've been coming to Armchair for 6 years now and I still love it each time. I bring my family here when they're visiting, not just for the good food but also the beautiful decor. Armchair is filled with actual armchairs and other delights like pots, flowers, tables, candles, plates, chairs, all kinds of homewares. I would buy it all if I could!!
It's a lovely big space, but always busy so come early to get a table, especially if there's a group of you. I love the array of fresh flowers all around the store, which you can purchase.Ā
A classic here is the bacon and egg roll with delish aioli, it's been on the menu since I can remember and it's just so satisfying for only $11. I was on a student budget back in the day so eating out was $11 burgers and it was so good. Also the french toast is a winner, can't go wrong with french toast, plenty of syrup and some fruit!
Lately I've tried the salad bowls, be it fruit or a quinoa salad and all were good. They're pretty quick at getting food out and good coffee. Enjoy! The ambience is great, staff are friendly and it's a nice little escape from the bustling Sydney lifestyle.

Stumbled upon this adorable, stylish cafe whilst out dog walking with a friend and decided to have a light bite for lunch! Alfresco dining was great so we could keep an eye on our furry friends. Perused the beautiful homewares on offer and then ordered at the counter. Lots of tempting sweet treats in the glass cabinet like cranberry & hazelnut brownie or lime, yoghurt and coconut cake but decided to stay healthy and share the marinated chicken & green papaya salad w soba noodles, miso vinaigrette, toasted cashew, coriander, mint, cos lettuce and black sesame ($19). Wow! How delicious! Will definitely return to sample more of the menu!

Had the beef burger which was excellent. The staff were warm and welcoming, the set up was very chic, nautical themed. Overall would highly recommend!

The Armchair Collective is situated perfectly near the beach. My friend and I came here for brunch on a Sunday. I ordered the smoked salmon avocado on toasted brioche with an iced chai whilst she ordered the burger and a strawberry milkshake. We were both extremely impressed with our drinks. I would give my iced chai a 5/5. It was amazing! My dish was good however, there serving of salmon could have been bigger. Same goes for the serving of chips that came with the burger. A very reasonable menu with a reasonable price and good service.

After a pretty hot and tiring morning in which we went dog walking (coaxing Jacob out with his lil squeaky toy was no easy feat let me tell ya), we decided on this pit stop for lunch before heading out to the beach nearby.

Now, my date was absolutely insistent that he would order this veggie burger with thick cut chips and... I'm glad I trusted him for once šŸ˜‰ the burger consisted of a chickpea + assorted veggies patty, halOUMI (drool!!), cucumber, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, onion and pesto aioli and tomato relish. The meal was a decent size, the ingredients were so fresh, and the price pretty typical for this sorta cafe style food.

Oh and the orange juice was nice and fresh too. But cmon its OJ, pretty hard to stuff up hey šŸ˜œ

If we were to go dog walking again (probably) and stop by this cafe again (most likely) maybe I'll branch out. Or maybe not. This burger does have my heart šŸ˜‰

Price: Above Average / Expensive

Portion: 2.5/5

Service: Great (Quick to order, and food came out relatively fast though the place was fairly busy)

Beef Burger & Chips - 3/5 - Tasty meat, Cheese and fresh veges

Cons: Too small, burger fell apart, too greasy & too pricey

Soft Shell Crab Burger & Chips (Special) - 4/5 - Fresh veges, chips nice and crunchy yet still potatoy

Cons: Meat could have been fresher (Not bad or anything though), burger fell apart

Bacon & Egg Roll - 3/5 - Size was good

Cons: No sauce (Or forgot the bbq sauce), too pricey

You can follow me on Instagram: alexyduongy

My favourite breakfast place in Sydney. We can't have enough to of their corn fritters, the salmon roti used to be amazing (sadly they took it off the menu), and everything else I tried from their menu was excellent. Service is good, place it cosy but can get quite busy/noisy at times.

Very very disappointing. we went on a friend's recommendation so were looking forward to coming, which makes it worse. I'll start with the only positive - the eggs Benedict, crazy good and I'd eat a whole plate of the crumbed zucchini any day. My partner's poached eggs were cold and the bacon was just ok. The worst part was the coffee, bitter and watery at the same time. We had to send them back, sadly take 2 wasn't much better. Won't be back.

The Armchair Collective is a perfectly located, almost Op-shop styled cafe.

Carrying on the trend of hipsterish styled breakfast joints the Armchair is worth your breakfast money on any morning of week. The place serves up a great burcher muesli and an equally awesome poached eggs with avocado on toast.

I'm happy to announce that the Armchair makes an absolutely awesome French toast which is cooked to perfection!

Get amongst the armchair, grab a seat and a bite to eat - beware of the weekend crowds, it can be a killer queue!

It feels very Northern Beaches - the lawn chairs, the plants, the homewares shop, the big verandah, the lazy atmosphere, the fresh juices, the healthy choices on the menu. And the ocean isn't far away at all!

Yum, yum, yum. Probably the best fat-cut chips on the planet. :) Lovely atmosphere and gorgeous shop to stroll through pre or post feast. Handy proximity right by the beach, but Ā be prepared to wait for a table during busy times.

This is a great idea. An open plan cafe amongst a quirky shop selling lots of different things. The staff are very nice and welcome you when you arrive. I sat off to the side, it was nice and secluded away from the people walking through the shop. The coffee was very nice as was the tea (pictured). They have a nice menu, the food was beautifully presented, and was very nice. A nice cafe, can get busy at times.

Sour taste. I love Armchair and I visit regularly with friends. I was beyond appalled with what we were privy to earlier this week, watching a chef come out of the kitchen and verbally abuse one of the staff to the point where we were not sure if we should have intervened. The situation put a dampener on the day and left a sour taste in our mouths, considering it isn't the food that we go there for as the food quality has most certainly slipped, but we return due to the fact that we can always sit in such a pleasant cafe, with never anything less than friendly service from all the beautiful girls who work there. It was quite sad to witness what we did and I am sad to say that we might have to find a new lunch spot in the future.

The poached eggs, bacon and roasted tomato on toast was a lovely, hearty dish. The eggs were cooked well (runny yokes all round at the table) and the bacon was delicious. A simple, yet satisfying start to the day. Both Avocado Salsaā€™s on Toast were beautifully presented and large in size. The girls really enjoyed this meal especially the flavour of the vibrant green salsa. The only let down of the dish was the fact that some of the avocado chucks mixed into the salsa were rather hard (you couldnā€™t smush them down with a fork at all, not even a tiny bit) so the girls sifted the less ripe avocado pieces out of their salsas.

This place USED to be awesome. We've been frequenting the Armchair Collective for years. Has always been very good service and generous portions. However something has changed. The serving sizes seem to have reduced and the quality is not as good. Hopefully it was just a dud day...

Will and I decided to go for a drive to Monavale to check out Armchair Collective for brunch.Ā Located just up the street from the beach, we were able to find parking right outside and headed straight in. Inside the cafĆ©, you find yourself in and amongst a very trendy and colorful homeware store, with table seating scattered throughout their gorgeous products and displays. Will and I made a few rounds of the store, trying to scout out the best table before deciding to sit outside. Our table was right in front of the large barista windowā€“it had a delightful breeze and space to spread out, which was perfect. For such a large cafĆ©, it was surprising that they have the ā€˜order at the counterā€™ system, but I guess it suits the relaxed beach lifestyle. I could just imagine the waiters weaving their way through the quirky store, trying to find the table with the right numbered stick! When going up to order, I found the Armchair Collective staff very friendly and warm (not just because of their lovely beached tans and summer glow!).Ā The girl at the cash register was happy to suggest a few options and answer my questions about their cakes and Bircher Muesli. Will and I ended up ordering a large Latte to share $4.50, a Mixed Berry Smoothie $8, Baked Eggs $16 (for Will) and Bircher Muesli $14 (for me). Not long after ordering, our drinks arrived. The coffee was delightful and a wonderful way to start a relaxed brunch.Ā The Mixed Berry Smoothie was quite possibly the most delicious smoothie Iā€™ve had at a cafĆ©. The drink was served in a large jar, revealing its vibrant purple colour and trickles of honey. The smoothie tasted oh so delicious and was bursting with fruity goodness, yet not overly sweet. The taste of the honey hinted through wonderfully, and the flavours werenā€™t watered down by having too much ice (it was the perfect balance). I could imagine myself ordering this drink take away, and heading straight to the beach. Ā We were about half way through our drinks when our

Gorgeous weather and a public holiday...what better excuse than to go for a drive to the beach and visit a cafe especially one which is only moments away from the beach! The vibe at Armchair Collective is distinctly casual and relaxed yet retains a sense of homeliness with a huge range of stylish home decor and fresh bunches of flowers near the counter. Look out for the retro armchairs and lamp shades which they have beautifully re-upholstered in vibrant fabrics and gives the cafe its name! Ā As always, we decide to order the more unique dishes on the menu. I'm normally not a huge fan of lasagne but the way they described it on the menu as '72 hour-beef' with 'massaman sauce' sounded like it was worth a try! And indeed it was absolutely delicious. So much so that my family members kept stealing bits of the pasta and beef from my sister! Imagine beef which was so moist and tender that it melted in the mouth with bursts of flavour from the creamy flavoursome massaman sauce. And the pasta

Armchair Collectiveā€™s menu is pretty big and in no particular order which can make it seem all the more daunting. Compounding this are the categories which list different times and suddenly you find yourself standing in line, looking at your watch to remind yourself of the time and wondering if youā€™ll make a particular cut off to get the dish you want. I think in this case, sorting by price or alphabetical order would add just a little bit of organisation that the menu needs.
Life Of A Travel Czar
The doughy soft, sweet pancakes are such a treat. They are combined with the sweet, sticky, smoky and earthy flavours of the maple syrup and the concentration of dark berry fruit flavours from the puree. Its the perfect combination to make this cold morning that much more bearable. I just love it.
Little Eats Sydney
After a morning of fun on the beach, Armchair Collective is the place to come to recharge. The vibe is relaxed beachside chic with tables scattered amongst homewares. Come for efficient service and the creative gourmet menu.
A Foodie's Joy
A cafe right smack in the midst of a home and decor store! How cool is this and how attractive a thought?!? I cannot recall when I first heard or read about Armchair Collective but I do remember putting it on my list. Not long ago, I decided to take a Saturday drive with my friend MO. Partly to belatedly celebrate her birthday and partly to de-stress from what has been one of the worst weeks I have had at work. The weather forecast on that day warned of potential rain but we were blessed with fantastic weather. When we arrived at the cafe/store I was fascinated by the eclectic homeware and how the tables and seats were cleverly interspersed throughout the store. After perusing their menu their corn fritters caught my eye. It was a breakfast only dish which was served until 11.30 am. We missed it by about 10 minutes. There is a section of the menu which was 'all day breakfast' but the corn fritters was not on that list. I decided to ask if I could order it and the chef was apparently in

At "Armchair Collective" you literally are eating amongst the furniture. You may be enjoying your fish and chips whilst perched next to you is a beautiful armchair and a tower of ceramic jugs waiting for you to purchase them after you meal!
Missklicious
The place was packed which is always the first good sign. After wandering back and forth trying to locate a seat, we finally found one and then had to figure out the ordering system - grab a menu and then go to the counter and order/pay and sit down with your table number. Top marks for cafes Ā that do an all day brunch menu! The food at Armchair is good everyday food, but tasty, interesting, and good quality. Whatever Iā€™ve eaten there has been better than I was expecting.

You can never go home again. Itā€™s a splintering thought. Itā€™s one that could slide into a philosophical bog about the sense of home. Is it a suburb? A group of people? A collection of rooms and soft furnishings? Or is it as basic as a good coffee, toast and avocado served with an Australian accent while the sun warms your neck?
Penguin Says Feed Me
Thereā€™s a reason why this is a popular dining spot and why we went back two weeks in a row ā€“ itā€™s because the food is consistently good and great for a leisurely lunch by the beach. After a good feed, we hopped across the road and lazed around near the beach for a good couple of hoursā€¦ and these lazy days turned out to be some of the best days of the summer.
Samlecky6
Disappointing food. My husband and I are locals and thought we would head down to the Armchair Collective for a nice relaxed Sunday lunch. Was really looking forward to a good burger and chips.. Unfortunately the chips must have been cooking in oil that wasn't hot enough as they had taken on a lot of cooking oil. The burger pattie was dry and flavourless. Extremely disappointing.

Not toddler friendly. Drove a fair way here because I've wanted to try their food for a long time. Got here and THERE ARE NO HIGH CHAIRS. This is the first cafe I have encountered in Sydney without high chairs. Very disappointing. Had to go elsewhere.
Jilabaker
Best cafe in Mona Vale!. I love the Armchairs soy chai tea ... they use fresh ginger yeh! My son likes the smoked salmon brioche and the tomato bruschetta and he lurves the chocolate milkshake. The service is friendly and relaxed.
Mollys
Horrible customer service. I received the most appalling customer service of all time and when feedback of my disappointment was given to management it was laughed about. I would highly recommend not to eat there and if you do you will leave feeling personally attacked.
Sydney007
The Armchair Salad was very overpriced for the size and the fact the "roasted beetroot" were tinned beetroot (We could tell from the flavour!). The burger and milkshake were good, although more chips with the burger would have been better. Overall average dining experience.

This place seems to be deteriorating. The quality of the food is slipping and the service is pretty poor. It's also way, way too busy - don't expect a seat immediately.

Our food today took forty minutes to come out- crazy for something like pancakes. It was presented in a very ugly way (a banana split down the long way seems crazy) and was one of the smallest servings I have ever seen. Not good enough for twenty dollars. It's awful leaving a restaurant hungry.

This place is supposed to be hip and trendy, apparently, but all that provides is a crowd.

Skip it.
Kool Kat
Seems to have gone downhill- getting progressively worse upon each visit. Same ingredients/ presentation except food does not taste any good.

Such a cute little establishment. And excellent service food and drink to match. I had the mushroom bruschetta which was a delicious mess of shiitake and button mushrooms with spinach tomato feta and pinenuts. Not only was this one of the best breakfasts I've enjoyed the service was quicker than you can say chopsticks. So on a busy aus day Sunday this was an enjoyable surprise. My friends enjoyed a range of delicious overflowing smoothies and burgers and frittas and eggs which were all cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend. Again and again and again

What a shame. Coffee arrived 10 minutes after bacon and egg roll and fruit toast; coffee had obviously been sitting on counter long before it reached us, flat and non-creamy. Table was cluttered with used coffee cups and glasses from previous patrons (which the waitress decided to clear halfway through our meal). Table also had food scraps and bird poo on it. Waitstaff were charmless. We gave this three goes but unfortunately, it didn't get any better.
SurferTK
Very dissatisfied. In this day and age when you are eating out in a cafe or restaurant use decent produce, i.e organic free range eggs. to charge over $5 in a hospitality venue for a plate of food with non free range eggs... seriously its barely a step up on McDonalds!
Jules
Best coffee on the northern beaches. This cafe is my favorite for my morning coffee . The staff are friendly and welcoming down to remembering my name and coffee order. I also regularly go with my son and they know his order as well. Coffees great and service even better. A nice addition to Mona vale.

Relaxed vibe, good food. I think of The Armchair Collective as "My Happy Place": it's relaxed, service is good, and I love eating being surrounded by gorgeous, colourful and textured chairs and fabrics and decorator items and fresh flowers. Whatever I've eaten there has always been tasty and interesting. Love the hamburger, the thick-cut chips, the coffee, and well, it's all good.
Figs
Good food, lovely presentation, friendly staff but super busy for a Thursday morning. Good vibe, but very noisy - wouldn't be a place to go for a quiet coffee.
Fryzzykat
Nice enough ambiance, reasonable service, a fairly average cafe other than the food I got was dripping with grease, I couldn't eat it. Way too much oil and salt. Unfortunate because otherwise they'd be ok.

Yummy. How can you not be in awe of such a unique and beautiful cafe and store. I am impressed every time I visit Armchair collective! The have really thought of everything. Not only is the food beautiful, but the staff are lovely. You can really tell that they want to make your dining experience an enjoyable one. The menu has a mix of traditional fare with a twist that keeps you interested without being pretentious. And the portions are very generous! I can't rave about this place enough. And make sure you wander around the shop to explore all the BEAUTIFUL homewares. If you can't tell I am a huge fan!
