In an hour or so, The Milk Bar will take lunch to a kid who is at school with no food because she did not pay attention when I asked her to put it in her bag. If that is not outstanding service, then I don't know what is. I am thrilled and very thankful.
Had a chicken schnitzel roll which was fantastic, best in town.
What I most like about your cafe is that you are flexible to my needs. Gluten free is no problem and the quality of food is great.
Had a great breakfast this morning at The Milkbar Cafe & Patisserie, Thank you Courtney & Dean.
Love the milk bar cafe! Great cakes & a really nice selection of menu items!
Lovvvvvve this place amazing food & atmosphere!! Can't wait to visit again
Best breakfast I've had since moving here. Staff are so friendly
Best breakfast this morning for me and hubby. Excellent service and friendly. Thank you.
Best breakfast in Monty. Really love the eggs Benedict and the coffee is fantastic! Mudd keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing you again in the new venue!
Cute little cafe! Nice menu, very reasonable prices. Delicious looking pastries and sweets. I got the smashed avo and it was lovely! Wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

After a solid morning of rain, there was no sign of it letting up, so I decided to stop in Montmorency village to grab a sandwich. I also couldn’t resist one of their homemade vanilla slices, on display as a slab and looking far too good to ignore. Having already eaten the monster from Brent’s Patisserie in Eltham earlier in the morning, this really was just gluttony. I took the slice home where I continued to unwrap and pull this similar sized specimen apart.
Staff ....fantastic, Service....... excellent, cakes ......yummy. Nice and roomy. Partner and I have breakfast there a few times a week . The coffee is always good and the mature ladies that work there are fantastic.
Tried the Milkbar Cafe after hearing about it on Facebook feeds. Quite morning on a public holiday. The service was prompt and friendly. Had a milk coffee, almond milk coffee and vegan smashed avocado. All really good. We ended up gave a lovely relaxing brunch. Recommended.
Vegetarian and vegan friendly. Great almond latte's and they also do a great vegan smashed avo with almond fetta. Tasted amazing! Indoor and outdoor seating is good with a chilled out vibe.
Service has always been lovely and friendly. Coffee is delicious and made quickly. Absolutely love the cafes colour scheme and vintage feel. Would prefer to get my coffee from The Milkbar than down the road at 3094 as they’re just as consistent but service is 5 times faster.
Edit: Finally got around to eating here. Food was presented beautifully and served very quickly considering the number of customers. Eggs were poached perfectly - couldn’t ask for anything more.
This is a great little cafe. Much quieter than many in Were street which I like. I have only had cakes (the passionfruit sponge in fricken amazing), and eggs on toast - all have been lovely. The tea is also nice (I don't drink coffee). Service is quick and friendly. There are vegan options and they also do a fantastic lasagne you can take away for a great family meal.
Have tried most cafes in the area, this one had tables when the others were very busy, so we were not sure.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the coffee was pretty good.
The big breakfast was excellent- a really tasty old fashioned sausage, the scrambled eggs were actually scrambled eggs not over cooked and leathery, the mushrooms were good too - not over cooked and watery.
All in all, great, happy to go back!
Service and food is always lovely. Came last week with our nan who had been given a cake and a coffee for her birthday that week (very sweet). I had the last piece of vegan vanilla cake and it was delicious. My choice of breakfast at Montmorency :)
A lovely airy cafe which always has free tables. We've visited a few times and coffee is always quite good. Today we had breakfast and were impressed with granola (with fresh fruit) and the fresh juice. Simple and delicious - we'll be back.
I go to the milkbar specifically for all of their yummy homemade cakes, you can order cakes here for birthdays or events, I highly recommend their chocolate mud cake. The coffee is good, but just make sure you ask for it hot! Overall the café is a good spot to people watch, that isn't too busy or loud.
We've been here a few times and their baked goods are yum! Usually good for getting a table in peak time, which is surprising. You have to make sure to try the vanilla slice!! Burgers good. Table water needs to be chilled.
The former Mudd team are breathing new life into a Monty stalwart. Moving from their site next door and putting a fresh spin on the Milk Bar theme, Milkbar Cafe and Patisserie is a welcome addition to Were Street.
The menu is fairly simple (if you're looking for something more adventurous or gourmet, try Espresso 3094), with all the classics covered at a reasonable price. It's also the only place on Were St to get an Acai bowl! Having tried both breakfast (homemade muesli and the acai bowl) and lunch (Milkbar burger) options, I've yet to be disappointed. There's also an amazing cabinet of cakes and slices, with vegan and gf choices if you're after a sweet treat with your coffee.
Space is large, welcoming and family friendly.
First of all I am over the mood that a local cafe finally sells 'good' acai bowls and has an awsome selection of vegan deserts. However, I feel this cafe has some 'growing pains' that I hope can be addressed.
Let me start with the acai bowl. I am a regular customer of this cafe and almost every time I have been here I order the acai bowl. I have to say when this cafe delivers an acai bowl with a generous amount of toppings and thick consistency they have nailed it. However, on more than one occasion I have been disappointed as the thickness of the acai as well as the amount of toppings used constantly varies from who decides to make it on that particular day. I find this a big issue as if I am paying the same price every time for my acai bowl, I expect consistency in relation to the type and amount of toppings used as well as have the consistency to be thick not watery. This is why I feel their acai bowls are 'good' but with a few minor changes and maybe communication between staff on adequate presentation can make these bowls great.
I would also like to place attention to the 'bread' this cafe uses. With a huge selection of great cafes in the area I would expect this cafe to present their food on a beautiful price of sourdough or other gourmet bread opposed to a simple piece of white bread. I feel this makes the presentation of the food feel cheap and tacky.
I would also like to add that I feel the toilet area needs to be cleaned and stocked at the end of each day ready for early customers. On more than one occasion I have been to this cafe just after opening and the toilet bin is filled with old paper towel and there is no toilet paper. This I find is a standard practice that should be automatically done and something that a customer should have to write about
On another note their almond milk latte is amazing and they also sell the best vegan lemon slice. If you are yet to try it, it is seriously a must.
Above all this cafe is 'good' but I feel they need to address these issues in order to be great and compete with the other cafes within the area.
We went here this morning for breakfast & coffee. It was lovely. I had poached eggs, avo & smoked salmon. My husband has eggs benny. Both cooked well, the eggs were really tasty. Rich yolks, chooks must be feeding well at the moment. Coffee nice, could be a bit stronger, but that's just my preference. Thanks guys, great make over.
