So delicious... so Italian...so unexpected for the outer suburbs....Some of the best pizzas I've had anywhere (including many in Italy..)
Authentic and delicious pizza, definitely a good find for the local area!
Dinner was delicious with gluten free options (call before hand). The calzone Nutella e gelato was amazing. Also very friendly staff. Thanks!
This is my favorite pizza place in Melbourne. I have eaten at all the big names, 400 Gradi (Brunswick not the eastland abortion), D.O.C etc and La Lupa is the best every time. I am actually sad that I have now moved into the city to live. This place is worth the trip so I will definitely still be coming out to get a pizza every now and then. 10/10 base, toppings, cooking and the staff are always amazing! Keep it up guys, you truly made living in the suburbs a pleasure!
Most amazing Italian food I’ve had within the Yarra valley ! Staff are very polite and inviting , couldn’t say one negative about this place !
Best carbonara I’ve had in Melbourne by far! Proper authentic Italian food. Pizzas were amazing and the waitress was lovely! Pity I live so far away! Would be here all the time!
Came here tonight with the mrs and absolutley loved it. I was blown away by the authenticity of each dish. For such a small restaurant in a quiet little town this place is worth travelling for. Would have been a 5 if the service was a little better.
The best Italian place around, and will continue to be. It’s run by Italians that know how to cook the food correctly and their specials are always fantastic.
The best authentic Italian restaurant in the outer east..been here a few times, now & enjoyed it each & every time, pizza or pasta it's all delicious..I really shouldn't talk it up because it will just make it harder to get a 'walk up' table..note to self: always reserve a table...
The food was absolutely spot on. Came in on a busy Saturday night and wait time on food was great. Ordered 2 pizzas with the wife and we both agreed best pizzas we have ever had. Better than another pizza joint that I won't name that won best pizza in the world award. It is a small simple venue but I like the feel especially on the door step of Mt. Dandy
The pizza was seriously amazing. They use San Marzano tomatoes on their pizzas. I sometimes find Italian food too sour, but these tomatoes are lower in sourness and have a delicious, almost fruity taste. Very authentic food and feel to the place.
Felt very authentic Italian coming here. Produce is imported directly from Italy and cooked inhouse. Menu is stripped back and they do the basics very well, which I prefer over a packed menu of not very well done flavours. Treated to an Organic
Italian beer that I can't recall the name of but it was delicious. It's in a pretty innocuous location, but it makes it feel like a bit of a hidden gem. Would recommend for a great Italian meal.
It is not CBD, but this place is by far the best Italian place in the area. The pasta are the best the house has to offer (must try the Carbonara for an original Roman experience), but the pizza are not bad either. This is if you like pizza made like they make them in Rome. Fluffy, thick crust, a bit burned around the edges. Great environment, good service, if you are in the area pop in!!
Love the food here. Feels really like authentic Italian cooking. Particularly the Pumpkin, honey, and rocket pizza - and love that it's wood fired too. Only negative - too pricey for takeaway for us.
LIT!: One of my favourite Italian restaurants. Every pasta we had was delicious- that wagu pasta and cannelloni tho 👌 you know it's good when you don't need to add extra cheese
NOT SO LIT: mushroom risotto was a little bit too salty but everything else was so mint
Thanks for having us!
Best wood fired pizza I've ever had and very friendly service.
Focaccia and cuppacinnos were ridiculously on point.
I'm so unhappy I live far away from this place.
This little gem never fails to disappoint with its authentic Italian woodfired pizzas. I ordered the San Daniele, which has a delicious tomato base topped with San Daniele prosciutto, rocket lettuce and shaved pamesan. It was delicious. The only downside is that I ordered a soy flat white, and they say they did not have soy milk. However upon my return (the lack of soy was not going to keep me away!) they had the soy milk waiting! Lovely service from all staff, this will be one of my regulars!
I love this restaurant and have been many times for the great chicken Parma they have and after another visit last night I hope I wasn't witnessing the end of another great restaurant.
The food was still awesome but man o man was the service crap, after ordering we waited an hour before our food came to the table and had to prompt them several times to feed us. If this was our first visit it would definitely have been our last but we know what you guys are capable of.
Please please don't stuff up your great restaurant.
Some of the most amazing Italian we have had in a long time. It is great value for the price, highly recommend the ragu pasta. We will be back soon!
Not a bad place for Montrose. The ambience/decor is average, the pizza was good, the coffee was good, the service was ok and there is a couple of decent beers available (don't forget to check the blackboard). Enjoyed the meal but didn't find anything particularly amazing to rush back for.
A very popular and almost always crowded pizza restaurant (and take away), that usually makes very fine wood-fired pizza ( I was going to say exquisite, but my last one was slightly burnt around the crust). The staff are friendly and obliging, but are often run off their feet. The table settings are fairly plain, but the venue has decorative Italian motifs around the walls (maps, scenic photos, etc). It is always noisy due to loud people chatter, but overall a good venue.
If you want authentic Italian food this is the place too go! Ive been going recently for the past few months and I've never been disappointed. Last time I went it was with a group of friends. We ordered a Diavola Pizza and a Contadina Pizza and we also ordered Porcini Mushroom Risotto and Amatriciana Pasta, what can I say... BEST MEAL EVER! You can tell that its the real deal. Friendly Staff, and great service.
This is our favourite haunt.
Wood fired pizzas are always great & I particularly like the specials board.
Staff are super friendly & efficient.
Love that the business owner is the chief of the pizza oven.
Friday & Saturday nights - bookings essential.
Third visit to this restaurant. Always the highest standards.
I love the crust of the pizza ... i love the little toppings . I believe it is what pizza should be . Simple yet balanced.
Service good.
Nice atmosphere.
Goid work.
Delicious food, great service. It was very busy whilst we were there but we still received our meals in good timing. Atmosphere/lighting could be improved. Overall great casual meal. Definitely coming again when next in the area!
Been here once and cannot wait to go back. Most amazing wood fired pizzas with delicious thick bases. The bruschetta and garlic focaccia were both soo tasty. We sat outside because we didn't know we had to book and had beautiful and quick service.
Cannot talk it up enough!
Definitely worth a try!
Don't ever expect to get a table without making a reservation. Best pasta in town! Authentic Italian food. Authentic Italian staff! :) Just wanna try every single item on the menu. Dishes not commonly seen in other Italian restaurants. Make sure you book at least a week in advance.
A fresh, fantastic and quality pizzeria in quiet little Montrose. The family and I were craving some pizza but weren't sure about braving the mass outlets or the smaller boutique stores in the outer suburbs. We settled on La Lupa due to its locality and reviews. We were not disappointed. The service is prompt and friendly, you can order instore or over the phone - making take away a breeze. They have cash and card options for payment - important if you're caught without ready cash and waiting for your tasty pizza. One drawback is the cost, while not the most expensive I have ever bought it is not a cheap eats restaurant - though you do get what you pay for. Each pizza starts at $14 and ranges up to $19 these are classed to feed an individual but even I struggled to down a whole pizza myself. The pizza quality is superb and very tasty; we ordered the zukka, ortolana and Tropicana; three great pizzas to share with the family. The honey added to the zukka was a superb addition and really brought the pizza together. All the other pizzas were similarly well spiced, cooked through and satisfying. I'll be sure to visit La Lupa again soon!
In a word...FANTASTIC!... excellent service, scrumptious food... pizza, pasta shame, shame we didn't allow ourselves enough time for dessert.
Lygon St in Montrose!. I have dined here on two occasions. The pasta is beautiful made with authentic pasta sauce that is definitely home made, just like Nonna makes. The pizza's though WOW! amazing so delicious! 100% recommend!!
Love it.. Delicious pizza, wonderful staff. I've been here multiple times now and have never had a negative experience. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, and the food is amazing. I've never tasted better Italian wood-fired pizza. I would recommend La Lupa Romana to anyone who enjoys good food.
Traditional Italian Restaurant with great ambience and service. We arrived half an hour late, but the staff were welcoming and friendly. Our food came quickly and was well presented. We started with a bruschetta foccacia which was hot and filling, followed by lasagna and chilli prawn linguini. Lasagna was meaty, well cooked and very tasty, whilst the prawn linguini was hot and delicious, with plump fresh prawns and just the right amount of chilli. Our first trip to the Dandenongs and it was worth the short drive down the mountain to Montrose. Highly recommended!
I would like to say that our corkage is only $6.00 as it states in our dine in menu.

Hi, I'm the owner of La lupa romana, I m very sorry you did not stay to have a meal tonight, even do the was 4 people sitting in the other table was all booked, we would been very happy to you to stay but unfortunately you did not give us a chance to organise another table that could have set 4 people even if you we're only 3!
The real deal. If you're after a ham & pineapple or pizza with the lot go to Domino's down the road - this hidden gem is not for you. This is the real deal Best Pizza this side of Rome. Thin crust pizzas with perfect, top quality toppings that don't smother the base are cooked to perfection in the wood fire oven. A generous Italian salad with a deliciously balanced dressing and the freshest ingredients was the perfect accompaniment. The napolitana pizza was simple perfection as was the marghertia. A special pizza with potato & cheese was pronounced delicious as was the calzone. Try the montepulciano, by the glass, quarter, half or full litre caraffe - it's great with pizza! We were too full for dessert but Lavazza coffee and a limoncello were a satisfying end to an excellent meal.
I've said this for thousand times that good food + great service = a successful restaurant. La Lupa Romana is one good example of what every restaurant should do. Besides lovely marinara and feash salad, all staffs make my dinner much more enjoyable. No wonder why they get so busy even a cold Tuesday night. I'll definitely come back when visit Mount Dandenong next time. Highly recommened.
Awesome staff and Awesome f.... Awesome staff and
Awesome food
Italian food at its best!. I went and ate at this wonderful authentic Italian restaurant tonight.. what a hidden gem I have found.. delicious authentic Italian food served by friendly staff in a nice Cosy environment. . This is definitely my new regular place for dinner!
Good pizza & friendly staff. Really good authentic Italian pizza. Not smothered in heaps of toppings but quality ingredients with well balanced flavours. Menu is tempting. Very friendly staff. Great place for a casual meal. We will be back (on a regular basis)!
Fantastic little gem of a restaurant in Montrose, quietly tucked away...
We went there with the three kids after an exhausting weekend of working in the garden and the food and service was first rate.. Kids polished off everything and asked for more (spaghetti was amazing) and were allowed sit in their own table.. We all had a different meal (4 adults) and all thought it was magnificent..
Highly recommended:- we will be back
Best place for authentic Italian pizza ! Great friendly staff with fast service !
Take the family you won't be disappointed - best pizza in Melbourne !
Warm and atmospheric. The pizza and pasta are fresh and amazing. Service is fast and friendly! I'm a local and I'll be back.

A little cosy hidden treasure.
First time was not disappointing. Wait service was delightful and the food was fast, fresh and delicious.
We will be back!
Great to have great Italian food this side of Lygon st
Authentic Italian Pizza!. Young , vibrant and fresh! That's how I describe La Lupa Romana! Nearly ALL the staff have been born and bred in Italy which makes this Pizza and coffee lounge the real deal! Friendly waiters and cooks greet you like their own family and they go above and beyond to please your taste buds!
You must try the Nutella calzone or Linda's lasagna! This is Montrose best kept secret! I know they will only get bigger and better so watch this space!!
Friendly staff and delicious risotto (the chicken one was a little salty but still creamy and plumpcious). Decor really needs work and much too bright lights for evening dining, but certainly will go back. Lots of people were popping in for takeaway pizza so looking forward to trying that next time. Note the name has changed
Great food & friendly service.. There are very few restaurants out around this area with a full Italian staff (clear by the thick accents) that try to push out all the english they can to be friendly and treat everyone as if they are family! The times I've been here have been a lot of fun, great atmosphere with such a good mood and vibe through out the staff and happy customers.
The great vibe also reflects on to the food. Perfect, traditional wood fired pizza, and the desert menu and pastries are amazing.
That Nutella Calzone... Wow!
If you enjoy friendly service and good food, this is the place for you.
Love it. Authentic tasting food and fantastic service. Highly recommended!
Enjoyable little breakfast spot for a Sunday morning. Staff are attentive but not intrusive. Meals reasonably costed. Relaxed atmosphere.
Finally a proper, authentically Italian pizzeria in the suburbs! The pizza is fresh, delicious and roman, exactly what we have been looking for. The people are incredibly friendly and service is excellent. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who is craving a proper Italian meal. Delicious!
Love it!. My experience at Babblers was benissimo! The atmosphere is great and family friendly. We went to the Sri Lankan curry night. The food was amazing. We ordered all of the three entrees and they were delicious! The curry was a bit big for one person but is probably meant for two people. The waiter we had was always smiling and was very nice and asked us if we wanted drinks or dessert. I will definitely be going back!
Very authentic. If you are looking for an authentic pizza - this is the place to come! The base is light (not yeasty at all) and the toppings are all about quality, not quantity...
So, if you like your pizza overflowing with toppings, don't bother eating here. You will be disappointed. You will be happier with a chain-style pizza from another store...
That doesn't mean this isn't great pizza though - it's for pizza connoisseurs who appreciate great quality.
Love it!
If you are after true italian pizza, this is the place to go. normally if i have any other pizza s i wake up during the night a feel terrible and thirsty. with babblers pizza i don't. they make the pizza s with the right amount of toppings the proper italian way. for all those people who have left negative reviews don't know true pizza and should go a eat at dominos. our work orders 6 pizza s every friday for lunch for the past 4 months and will continue. taken friends and family there and now they go there on a regular bases.
True Italian Restaurant. We decided to spend our wedding anniversary in this beatiful and friendly place. I knew it already as pizza take away but we wished to try a whole dinner. We had some pizza margaritas and a capricciosa, and cozze alla pescatora as entrè and tiramisù as dessert. Everything was really good, simple and true (not fake Italian like many places in Melbourne).
I read some review about putting extra toppings on pizza. The real Italian pizza show his best flavours from simpler ingredients, extra stuff on top just make the dish more confusional. If you want something like that, just don't go in an Italian Restaurant or you would be disappointed.
I suggest this Restaurant to real food lovers :)
REAL ITALIAN PIZZA. I have been back to Babblers again tonight and their pizza was delicious like always, perfect crust and quality ingredients. Unfortunately not everyone knows how to enjoy a real Italian pizza, some people have very poor knowledge on good quality food, they only should have thick, cheap supermarket pizza! Don't worry about the bad review Babblers, you are always the best! Thank you (and also thanks for the limincillo was great!)
Had been before and it was nice. But has recently changed hands now it is great. Fresh mussels in a lovely tomato sauce with just enough chilli. Will definitely be coming back.
Fantastic. What a great place
Food to die for and great ambience
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Great place for cheap, enjoyable meals. Awesome food, great service.
not much more to say, 5 stars
A great new vibe at this special local pizzeria! New owners (from Roma) have brought that something special to this eatery...the lively Italian banter at the wood fire pizza oven (the pizzas are devine!!) is something - like being back in Italy again. Great trattoria menu on offer - the Tira Mi Su is so good! Excellent coffee - Lavazza - and they make it very well. I would give this place a look in - Montrose will do well having this as a favorite place to dine. Cant wait for the warner months to sit "el fresco" either.
Best pizza ever. Very friendly atmosphere. Excellent, tasty food. Wonderful service. The best taste of Italy in a Pizza. You can't go to a better place than Montrose, Babblers. New owners know how to please. Thank you Babblers
Another lovely night at Babblers. Went to dinner to Babblers for the 2nd time. Service was great and the food was excellent. As a local resident it's nice to have Babblers as a friendly good value place to relax and enjoy some good food.
Visited La Lupa Romana with my partner last night. It was absolutely fantastic, she had the Lasagne and I had the carbonara. Honestly it was the best Italian meal I've ever eaten.
We went there for the first time on Saturday night and will definitely make this place a regular visit! Incredibly friendly staff, authentic food, great atmosphere. This place was a little stand alone gem. They catered well for our young children and we felt we definitely got value for money. Parking was easy and right outside. bellissimo!
Simply amazing. Both service and food were really good. Would highly recommend if anyone is having a craving for italian food. Hidden gem!
Best place to eat REAL Italian food ,we felt like we were eating in Italy, all the staff is nice and friendly .
The pasta was al dente as we like it . The meat was so tender and juicy .
We will definitely come back with all our friend .
Come here to taste the best Italian meals
My favourite Italian restaurant in the area, very happy to discovered this place, well made pizza and very well cooked pasta dishes, The Ragu is to die for! 😇 staffs are very friendly as well! thank you!
A cosy spot for really great authentic Italian food. We visited La Lupa then went to Rome and Naples and the food at La Lupa is very similar to typical Roman food. We were there again last weekend and the food and service were spot on. Cheers!
Fantastic service and food. All 5 people on our table absolutely loved the different dishes we ordered.
