The cafe itself is really beautiful. Eclectic and lots of plants. The little lemon segments in the water is a cute touch. We ordered the banana and date loaf with mascarpone and orange. Which was nice the bread itself didn’t really taste like banana but overall was good that’s the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars as I like my banana bread to taste like banana. We also had the ninja in Paris it was nice the poached egg was cooked perfectly.
Coffees were great service was very prompt and friendly would recommend.
A little way off the beaten track, but definitely worth the effort. The coffee is great, the service is lovely and the food is really good quality and delicious. The atmosphere is cosy and friendly. I recommend visiting!
What a gorgeous little gem! Decor and set up was inviting and unique. Service was spot on. Food and smoothies were delicious. Definitely worth a visit.
Very nice little cafe with plenty of seating for larger groups. Food and coffee is off a very high quality. Large portions of food. Menu offers simple twists on the classic cafe brekky menu whilst not being unrecognisable. Well priced for the size and quality.
Great little hiding spot with chillax atmosphere for hangs with friends and family over delicious food and coffee. The menu is changing with season and not just the mundane bacon egg and toast. I tried the special of the day sandcrab Benedict and it just blows my mind how the flavours dances beautifully on my tongue. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. A definitely place for brekkie with a difference
Delicious food, great relaxed atmosphere, and super friendly staff. We had lunch here two days in a row on our holiday as we enjoyed it so much (and would have gone back again had we stayed longer). We tried the eggs benedict, corn & potato haystack, beet the drum, winter rhubarb compote, coffee, green juice and iced chocolate. All were delicious hearty meals & tasty drinks, and they have a tonne of GF & vego options. Highly recommended!
Such a great spot for breaky or brunch after a nice jog around Mooloolaba beach. I love the old garage turned into a cafe idea. The menus taped in books. I tried their Pork Belly special, and it didn't disappoint!! The pork belly slices were melting in my mouth! The vermicelli noodles gave it a nice balance of meat and carbs. The satay sauce was just icing on the top! I am such a sucker for meals that are great value for money and I am quite surprised that this meal was only $19!
The rest of the breaky meals we had were also amazing! The servings are very generous. Definitely one of my favorite spots for a brunch in Mooloolaba ♡
We ordered the special “pork belly with green curry, vermicelli noodles and potatoes” and it was fantastic, best meal we’ve had in ages. Please add it to the menu! :)
Very cool decor with old type writers, projectors, bikes and lots of fun games. The food is delicious with a variety of menu options! Would definitely recommend going here and I’ll definitely be going back!
Highly recommend you visit this little gem nestled in the hidden back streets of Mooloolaba. The food is fresh and things you don’t think should work actually work together- it’s a delight to the palate. And the smoothies and coffees are spot on! Will continue to visit this joint when we travel here in future!
An awesome little hidden gem!!! Seriously worth checking out if your up in the Sunshine Coast. The coffee is delicious and the staff are exceptional. It no surprise the place is always packed!!
A great selection of meals to choose from and very friendly staff - customer service is exceptional. What a wonderful start to the day- will definitely drop in again next time we’re up north
Wow. What a lucky find I want to take this place home with me! Great range of coffees and juices - superb Vietnamese style coffee. Food amazing. Lovely atmosphere. These guys just get it!
Delicious food in a delightful setting. Staff were attentive and friendly. We will be back for sure. Crepes all round and introduced our four year old to bacon and maple syrup.
Outstanding food, quality and service...had the peach pear breakfast smoothie...amazing, will definitely return and try the rest of the menu! Great quiet suburb hangout, wish there was more of these in Canberra!
The place has plenty of seating, caters for large groups. Staff are nice and attentive. There is a wide range on the menu. Food is fresh, wait isn't too long.
This cafe is so dog friendly they have a separate menu dedicated entirely to your pooch! If you love dogs but don't have one of your own, its a great place to find and steal (no, don't do that) a pupper for your own. If you do have a dog, take him here because he will love you (and the puppy lattes) for it. The people menu contains a large variety of foods, including some favourites (eggs benny), and some strange but delicious inventions (the gnocchi, pictured, which is served in large triangles instead of the traditional ovals). The dog menu contains several treats, including puppy lattes, lactose free milk with kangaroo jerky to top. This is such a great cafe, even if you don't love dogs (but frankly, if you don't, we can't be friends).
Possibly the best breakfast I've ever had 💕 my flat white was amazing and came out super fast. And my meal was delicious 😋 the staff were awesome
We made the trip to The Velo Project after a couple of disappointing breakfasts where we were staying in Caloundra and it was more than worth it. We nabbed a table in the courtyard and enjoyed delicious coffee before our gorgeous breakfast arrived. Served on a slate were the prettiest hotcakes I had ever seen! To top it off everything was delicious. The service was friendly despite they were very busy! Will be back
Delicious coffee, amazing food and good service. Great menu with lots of options and reasonably priced. Can't really fault this place.
Between the table we ordered a smoothie bowl, eggs and bacon and an eggs benedict- all of which were spot on with great flavours and beautiful presentation. We all loved every bite!!
We ordered the maple bacon crepes and the pulled lamb pancakes which were all delicious. The flavours went very well together and the ambiance of the place was very relaxing, vibrant and hip. Definitely a place built for brunch dates!
This is a great spot. Food had a great variety and some really honest flavours. Menu was a bit different without going schmancy fancy pantsy. Service is friendly and prompt and our food came out pretty quickly even though the place was pretty much full. (Well done Kitchen) I'd be surprised if there wasn't something on the menu to suit almost everyone. Didn't try the coffee though since the past few days were very hot but i DID have their iced latte which was delicious and full of flavour. This would be a regular haunt for me if i lived a bit closer. This is a winner !!!!
Unique cafe for the area
This place used to be my local dodgy lolly shop I'd ride to after school to buy clouds from. So when I found out it got converted into a nice cafe I had to try it out.
It was a hard task convincing five of my family members to join me for a 7:30 breakfast at The Velo Project this morning. Surprisingly they all agreed and we managed to actually get there by 7:30, and with only a few tables left to choose from, we secured the perfect one in the corner to fit all six of us. The cafe filled up pretty quick so I'm glad we got there at the time we did. The menu looked so good it took us indecisive bunch about 20 minutes to make our decision. My sister is celiac and was very happy with the variety of gluten free options. I ended up ordering the mango and coconut panna cotta which was really nice but my only suggestion to the cafe is to include a side of milk because after you've gone through the small portion of coconut yoghurt and panna cotta, you're left eating dry quinoa muesli. My family were all very happy with their meals, 2 ordered crepes which were much larger than I expected, 2 ordered eggs benedict which they really enjoyed, and my sister ordered the banana, macadamia & date bread which was nice, tasted a bit like a ginger bread. We were all happy with our decisions.
The cafe has a relaxed vibe, and is kind of quirky, decked out in possibly 60's memorabilia.. it looks like it was a cafe plucked out of Melbourne and placed into the middle of Mooloolaba suburbia, and surprisingly it's amazing.. probably the best cafe I've been to in Qld. I'm looking forward to going back to try more things.
We turned up for lunch on Sunday and the cafe looked really busy from the outside. We were assured there was a table and were shown to a table in the back garden. We were the only ones there so it was very quiet. The service was excellent and I could not fault my meal in any way. I ordered the crepe with pumpkin and feta. Pesto mushrooms were suggested as an extra and I was glad I got them as I felt they really completed the dish. The crepe was light and provided the perfect base for the other ingredients. Everything was fresh and prepared with care and it was a great experience overall. Velo is French for bicycle and a bicycle wheel is part of their logo. I asked about the name and apparently the current owners bought it 2 years ago and inherited the name so if there was a meaning it has been lost - just in case anyone is as curious as I was.

Who would have known my friend purchased a beautiful holiday home as close to the trendiest breakfast joint in Mooloolaba. Even without seaside views I would certainly recommend that you stop by. The staff, atmosphere, coffee and food are amazing!
Can I recommend that you try one of the many delectable crepes available (the flavours and options are quite unique). Today's pictured choice was the "Spinach, Brie, Prosciutto & Artichoke Crepe". With Gluten Free and Children's options you just can't go wrong. There is something for everyone!
Location: inconspicuous
Ambience: unique and interesting
Service: lovely, warm, patient and informative. This place has the most unique and interesting menu cards!
Food: amazing, delicious, beautifully presented and fantastic flavours! Although when I ordered Borlotti beans, there was too much of it.
It was full on a Tuesday morning!! People obviously love it.
Returned to velo after a hiatus, following a very average brunch a few months ago. Glad we came back - our brunch was fresh and tasty. Atmosphere and service has never been a problem here, our only critique is could be more generous for the price they are charging.
Great service; great atmosphere; great food; affordable! After climbing Mount Coolum I looked up local places for brunch with a good review- this place did not disappoint!

When it comes to finding a place to eat at Mooloolaba, visitors will go straight to the coast where you can enjoy the view while eating breakfast. I was one of them, I had an amazing breakfast at Elliot’s Bistro on my first day there. But when you ask a local for a recommendation on where to eat, they are likely to direct you to a hidden gem like The Velo Project which is tucked in amongst residential housing.
The Velo Project is a funky little place on the Sunshine Coast that we think about visiting every time we’re in the area since we chanced upon it a couple of years ago. We have had varying degrees of success though, as at assorted times we have been there when they weren’t open, or just after the kitchen had closed. With a bit of planning this time, we managed to make it there in time to get food.
I loved this place! The vibe was awesome and the food was too. The eggs Benedict lets you add on sides which is perfect for me as a love to add on avocado. Portions are super generous but still very tasty and full of flavour. Price point is just right, overal great place with super food!
The Velo Project is great for breakfasts- the menu is simple but everything is presented nicely and tastes amazing. Eggs Benedict and eggs on toast are a good option as you can customise with your own sides. We enjoyed the smoothies and juices and would also try the iced tea if we went back. The decor was very cool and friendly service completed an all-round experience.
Great atmosphere, lovely staff and amazing food. I loved this place! If you're visiting Mooloolaba I highly recommend checking this place out, it is away from the main joint but definitely worth the 5 minute drive :)
Fantastic coffee, great laid back atmosphere. Board games are on hand too, was great to play some uno and connect four over a coffee. Don't miss the outdoor courtyard. Off the beaten track and well worth the effort
Really cute decor. A vintage-themed cafe with a broad menu. I loved the flavour of my potato layers. I requested a vegan version which removed the poached eggs. Would of liked mushroom as a substitute though.
Visiting Noosa from Melbourne. This was by far the best brunch place we went to on our trip. Up there with one of the best brunches I've ever had (and I've had a lot). Coffee good, homemade fresh juice delicious, staff friendly. Decor and atmosphere is excellent - chilled out retro vibe. The menus are made of old encyclopaedias! So cool. Highlight was the amazing food - I had the homemade crepes with tomatoes, mushrooms, feta and spinach (added bacon). It was amazing and great portion size. Prices are a bit high, but much better value than any of the other brunches we had in Noosa area. Everyone on our table really enjoyed their meal. I would go back here again and again and again if I lived close enough!
Can't fault the place. Quirky, rustic and great for breakfast. I'm someone who like to have a substantial feed before the day ahead; so I went for the 'Huntsman'. Sausage, hoc ham, mushroom, egg, halloumi cheese, the lot!! Needless to say I left feeling very full and very satisfied. Great place to eat.
Amazing food lovely staff great atmosphere! 10/10 :)
A hidden gem! Loved the food, coffee and service at the Velo Project. It's kid and dog friendly too. We'll be back.
Perfect. Delish food, lovely atmosphere, brilliant staff. A small misunderstanding was rectified quickly and easily. Worth the short walk away from the typical beachfront cafés.
Fair, fun and YUMM!. Everything about The Velo Project is awesome. I love the staff, the food, the coffee and THE OPTIONS! Just fantastic. A lot of love and time has been put into making this place a gorgeous place to eat.
Food is an 8 coffee is a 5. Been to the Velo plenty of times... more for breakfast than a coffee hookup. Breakfast are something different for the area but they're also a little expensive.
Eggs benny is good and their balsamic tomatoes are awesome. Staff are fantastic and always on the ball.
Coffee is average though but not bad, i drink a long black and find theirs isn't all that strong, which i prefer.
If you are in Mooloolaba and you want an outstanding breakfast do try Velo Project. They have the freshest ingredients, a superb brunch as well as crepe menu, and warm, efficient service. It ticks all the boxes and is well worth going out of the way to find.
A wonderful find!. Fantastic coffee and was so exciting to find a cafe that offers multiple vegan and gluten free options! Highly recommended!
Good?. I love it here. The food is great and the coffee delicious but there is always a problem. Sometimes the service is crap, sometimes its amazing. Sometimes the food is spot on and other times we've walked away because they have sold out or not making it that day. The cafe is always buzzing and when we have eaten its always been great so I will go back and hope that one day I will actually be able to order the pesto chicken on a baguette because funnily enough... they always sell out!
Excellent ... After seeing so many varied reviews, Particularly about the attitude of the waiting staff I approached the Velo Project with some trepidation ... However all reviews said that the coffee was excellent and I can concur ... The food was also excellent, particularly the Eggs Benedict ... And the two times we went while in Mooloolaba the waiting staff were very friendly and helpful ... Maybe they have read some of the earlier reviews! ... I would have no hesitation in recommending this hippie cool joint with excellent coffee and food and great ambience
We have returned to Mooloolaba and to the Velo Project. Have been there three times on this trip and it does not disappoint. Friendly staff, excellent coffee (best we've had in Mooloolaba) and yummy food. A quaint cute hippie joint which takes their food coffee and service seriously. Recommended++
This isn't the Queensland I remember. Just had a sensational breakfast here with a very good, smooth coffee. Excellent all round.
Staff couldn't have been nicer, funky surrounds, already planning a return visit. If I lived around the area this would be a regular option.
Wonderful breakfast on both tries!. Very cute ambience in The Velo Project with wall scribbles, a bicycle diagram, mobile library and a courtyard complete with a sandpit for kids. The food itself was incredible. A fixed all-day brekky menu and specials, buckwheat and GF crepes, as well as baguettes after 12 during the week (except Sunday). I tried the eggs benny with smoked salmon (spot on), as well as a lamb cutlet special which was brilliant with pesto, delectable relish and juicy cherry tomatoes. Serves Five Senses coffee that is well made. Whilst this place might be a little on the pricey side, I believe they were dollars well worth paying. Well done to the team behind this establishment!
We checked this place out last weekend and thought it was cool and quirky! Great ambience and staff. Food and drinks were both great. Cannot wait to be back up the sunny coast to go again. Wish The Velo Project was in Brissie!
Wowsers - hipster central on the Sunshine Coast. Good coffee and ok food. Cakes were great. Love the locals-only locale.
Awesome everything. Coffee all breakfast items whole table in awe. Great design very funky. I am moving here for this food.
Just a bit off the main tourist areas, but well worth hunting down. Eclectic bits and pieces for decor, including travel and food books. Music right for a lazy weekend brunch. Live music when we were there on a Sunday too.
Excellent food as well. Tasty combinations of flavours and textures, done with good technique. Shared a couple of the specials of the day (grilled salmon with a spinach and sundried tomato roulade, and French toast with mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic, lemon, and haloumi), and they were delicious.
Worth a visit, and worth a return visit.
Everything in this place oozes warmth and welcome. Visually fantastic and the food is prepared with lots of love! You can not help but feel happy in this lovely cafe! Great food, flavours and coffee!
Amazing!. Such an fantastic little cafe! also out of the way from Tourist's so its got such a good feel to it
Perfect spot for breakfast. No wonder the locals stay away from the Esplanade when you can get your coffee fix and brekky here just a few streets away. A must try.
Absolutely loved this place!!! Only had time to grab a coffee n muffin - both delicious will be back again for breakfast soon! Staff were happy n friendly and the cafe is kid friendly!!
I Really Like This Place. One of my favorite past times is eating out. I don't really like going to Mooloolaba for breakfast because it is hard to park and is very tourist driven. Last Sunday we decided to try The Velo Project which is not in the middle of Mooloolaba but in the back streets. I was amazed, it was a cold raining day and the place was going off. Dispite all the people, the service was great and the food was excellent. Today is Wednesday and we are heading back there for lunch.
Just what the locals need!. Congrats! Have been for coffee and snack and also for lunch. Coffee good, variety of teas. Staff very attentive and helpful. There appears to be a good formula in this funky space which will become popular with the locals. Meals a bit limited at present, hopefully will be more inspiring once established.
When I walked in I instantly realised why so many people had been taking happy snaps of this venue. Loads of charm, character and a million things for the eyes to look at. From the tea cups, the mis-matched chairs, the fresh produce to the vintage telephone, open kitchen and oddly coloured brown bricks.
The Velo Project was on my wish list (yes, I do have a wish list of restaurants, bars and bakeries I want to visit) for a long time. It’s based in Mooloolaba, so me, a car-less person, living almost 100km away, had some trouble getting there. I needed a good excuse to rent a car for a weekend, because telling my husband Honey, we have to rent a car, because I want to go for breakfast to this place I found on the Internet wasn’t going to be an option. So when his brother came to our side of the world for a visit I had my perfect excuse: Let’s rent a car for a weekend, we need to show him around! And the first destination on Saturday morning was set on our GPS – The Velo Project. Shortly after 9am we didn’t have much seating choice, just one big table left, which we had to share with strangers. We were presented with a standard menu and daily specials one, but because we were late some of the specials were not available. Our decisions were surprisingly quick that day, everyone picked so
Great experience!
Coffee was great and their blend have very interesting tasting notes.
Food came fast and taste super fresh, we really enjoyed our meal.
Customer service was also on point, very cordial and ready, we felt welcomed.
Super recommended, it's a must try if you are in the area
We started the day in this lovely retro and cosy cafe. Staff were friendly and the food, the coffee were great. Love their creations on food which makes the dishes more attempting and fancier. Can tell the chefs/cooks put lots of their efforts on it. The taste was a bit salty, tho. The rest were all good.
It's that neighbourhood cafe you wish you had on YOUR street. Very lovely staff and service, enjoyable coffee and delicious breakfast. Plenty of choices of toppings for your morning crepe, only problem was having to choose...I went for the apple & cinnamon compote.
Went here for breakfast and ordered the Eggs Benedict with spanner crab and the Action Jackson - both delicious and beautifully presented. Eggs Benedict on the smaller size so best not to order if hungry. Partner approved of the coffee (they use Kai) but the matcha latte I ordered was very disappointing. Apart from the green on top the rest was basically warm milk which made it not enjoyable. Would suggest either putting more matcha into the drink or ensuring it is more appropriately combined. All in all a great local cafe.
Loved it. Absolutely delicious food, very professional staffs, excellent service. Unique flavor tastes, everything worth the price.
The best breakfast in Mooloolaba. Nothing more needs to be said… but I’ll say more anyway.
High quality fresh produce that tastes great. Fast and non-intrusive service. Quiet atmosphere. Love it here
Grandaughter took us to her fav. cafe, wow is our fav now.Great coffee, great layout, staff friendly and professional.nice Variety of dishes to choose from. Really impressed with our food Looking forward to visiting again.
Beautiful cafe found in the neighborhood. Interesting menu and very well done food. Kai coffee is very smooth.
