Review Bekka Restaurant - Moonee Ponds

Alex “Alexsfoodieadventures”
We dined here on Friday night and my gosh it was amazing! We chose to do their banquet priced at $45pp (including dessert and coffee/tea) which we thought was amazing value and we will definitely be back in a heart beat! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, with a beautiful ambience and the staff were super friendly and helpful when it came to ordering from the menu! Our faves were the falafels which were so moist and full of flavour, the cauliflower and of course the divine Lebanese meats (so obviously all of it was our faves 😂) I want to come back to try the prawns as I’ve heard amazing things about them! 5/5 💖

We absolutely loved the cuisine here, great atmosphere and all their dishes were so flavourful! The staff were very helpful in recommending their popular dishes and cocktails. Can’t fault anything here at all! Great location with nearby parking, definitely worth the try!
For the Love of Food
The highlights were definitely the skewers, my favourite being the prawns (and when dipped in that tahini 😩🤌🏻). But all 3 meats were so juicy and flavourful, they didn’t even need the dips to accompany them as they were incredible on their own. I was in shock at how good they were, I haven’t found anyone that makes them as good as this. I love Battata Harra and will order it every time I see it on the menu but I do enjoy them to be more crispy than this - but regardless, they too packed a punch and we couldn’t get enough. The portions were fantastic and considering everything is seasoned to the gods, you will not leave disappointed. I can’t talk about this food and service highly enough, you need to just see it and try it for yourself. Shoutout to our waiter John who was incredibly friendly, funny and helpful during our visit. I will be proudly recommending this restaurant to anyone looking for amazing Lebanese food, because this is where they’ll find it. 🇱🇧 Mixed dips (Labne, Hummus, Baba Ghannouj) 🌾 Moujadara (Lentils, rice and caramelised onion croquettes w/ beetroot dip) 🥔 Battata Harra (fried potatoes, garlic, coriander + chilli) 🥗 Fattoush salad 🐓 Chicken Tawook (chicken marinated in garlic, lemon + paprika) 🐑 Lamb skewers (shallots, peppers + zaatar) 🦐 Prawns (skewers marinated in garlic + chilli tahini)

Located in suburban Moone Ponds in proximity to Shopping centre is this hidden Gem. We booked this for a serene evening with a mate. The ambience of the place is great and the food speak volumes. You get bread for the table with pickles which is a bonus. We ordered some entree Fried Cauliflower with Tahini toppings, Kibbeh which were absolutely amazing. Skewered seasonal veggies with mixed Grill meats and salad were added to add to dinner plate. Lamb kofta, lamb skewered were just so succulent with depths of flavours. Coffee to finish off the evening was dense but perfect. The only miss for us was the lack of air-conditioning at the time of us dinning in. Would I come back again - Yes

If you love good hospitality and value, I highly recommend Bekka, the banquet here is just insane 🤯 You are well fed with 10 dishes for only $45pp, definitely a place to come with a group! We added 3 extra dishes of prawn skewers (recommended), potatoes and meat cigars because we eat with our eyes, ended up being waaay too much food but we took it all home 😇 There wasn’t a dish we didn’t like, everything had so much flavour, will definitely be returning.

My partner and I ordered the 'Bekka box' on Sunday night for a lockdown feast. It was $75 to serve 4 people (we had the leftovers for lunch the next day!) and there was well and truly enough food, it was very good value for takeaway. Every single aspect of the meal was absolutely delicious! The meat was cooked to perfection, the salad was fresh and the hummus was to die for. We thoroughly enjoyed this meal and we will definitely be having it again some time. It also paired well with our homemade cocktails! Thank you so much! :)

Great Lebanese comfort food. Really tasty, well priced and friendly serviced. Helpful hint - whatever you order will be too much food, just go with it!

One of the best Lebanese restaurants in Melbourne. Affordable but well appointed with attentive staff. Been several times with the quality consistent. Wine list is very good also. Highly recommended but book early as they are busy every night they are open.

My Key Three Pointers
* Sharing is caring
* You better be hungry
* No extra salt please

Love this new addition to Moonee ponds and exactly what the area needed, situated perfectly next to a wine bar eat and then go to you next pit stop. Bekka is all about sharing a mezza style menu. It offers a range of dips, mezza, salads, meats, seafood. Something for everyone weather you are vegetarian, vegan or like a meat bbq, they have it covered. The portion sizes are very generous, go hungry and pace yourself before you eat all the bread. You are given a side of pickles and fried and soft pita bread. Order Labne dip and let the experience of Lebanese cuisine begin, you will not be disappointed. We ordered Kibbeh which is mince lamb meat, pine nuts in a crushed wheat fried shell. Grilled halloumi cheese, fried calamari, lamb skewers, prawn skewers and you can’t go pass the fattoush salad. I loved how this had pomegranate in it. Overall the food was fantastic, my only recommendation it could have done with a little less salt.
The service was warm and friendly and hospitality is important in Lebanese culture and you definitely feel this. It has a very homely inviting interior, with a open kitchen. It is a small venue But they do have seating available outside. The concept is sharing and tables are small but they manage to bring out the food at the perfect timing. We never had an over crowded moment. I will definitely be back and will add it to my preferred local list. Well done to the owners and I’ll be making some room for dessert

Loved this cute restaurant, food was brilliant and good sizes! Would definitely come back.
Would love it to be just a little bigger because it's usually booked out.

Seriously authentic family run business. Flavours are both old style traditional coupled with modern twists. Coming from a middle eastern background I can vouch for thus restaurant. Service can be hit and miss with kids on the floor but food is top quality. A Shame not enough tables as we would go more often but can never get in even as regulars. Well done

A modern, small, fine dining experience of interesting and beautifully presented Lebanese food. In a small restaurant, you can see the whole kitchen experience.
Even on a Monday night, it was busy. Great wait staff who knew thoroughly the food and wine menu.

A generous serve of fresh flat bread and lavoche style crisp bread with generous amounts of sumac just arrived.

It went really well with the mixed dips we ordered. This was a large serving of labne, hummus and very smoky baba ghannoush; ideal for four to share.

We then had the ‘cigars’; really light pastry, filled with minced lamb, pine nuts and spinach. Melted in your mouth.
The calamari entree was perfectly cooked and the best our Sydney friends had had for some years.
The fried cauliflower was a lovely light entree to share.
We also shared the mixed grill of chicken, lamb and beef skewers with a fatoush salad.
A beautifully balanced meal.
We had the 2017 Pinot Gris from Veneto, reasonably priced at $39. The wine menu ( no BYO) has a good selection of white and red varieties from Italy, various Australian wine regions and Lebanon across a range of price points.
One of our party had some specific dietary needs and there was no hesitation in preparing a particular salad to suit her needs.
A great find in a small street in Moonee Ponds . Strongly recommend; we’ll be back.

My friend and I had dinner here recently, I have been wanting to try Bekka for a while now and so glad that I did.

The restaurant is really nice and in a lovely setting, the open kitchen is nice too with good ventilation! I didn't walk out smelling like a shish kebab which was great lol

Staff were nice and friendly, very warm and approachable. A good menu, however a little on the expensive side in my opinion. We shared the mixed grill and the fattoush salad which was just delicious, I particularly liked the grilled lamb and the kafta. The fattoush salad was fresh and it was really tasty, I loved everything about it!

Well worth a visit, very different to your Middle Eastern restaurants along Sydney Rd, you're paying a higher price on food, however the setting is beautiful.

The restaurant is quite small but very cosy. It was busy on a Tuesday night and we were greeted on arrival.
We were immediately given pickled vegies and pita bread after sitting down.
The calamari looked appetizing and tasted fresh, not chewy/rubber-like like some other places. The meat cigars tasted like a meat pie in a roll. It was quite densed. The drizzle of sauce on top was clever to keep the flavours in line and not taste Australian-like.
The Makaneek was simple in presentation but was probably the best entree; full of flavours. Yummy!!
We had the mixed grills, which had the chicken tawook skewers lamb skewers and kaftas. All had unique flavours and went well with the rice and salad. However we would've exchanged the hummus for another lighter dip if possible, because it was quite filling with the pita bread.
Service was friendly and prompt. The Lebanese music and Lebanese beer (Almaza) on the menu adds bonus points to the whole dining experience. I would like to see more options under the Grill and desserts (only 3) menu though. Thank you for a wonderful night Bėkkå!

Horrible service. Ordered the banquet for a table for 2 and waited over 2 hours for the mains to arrive as we watched on to the tables around us getting their food.

Our table had clearly been forgotten but there was no recognition of this or apology by the staff. We left before the deserts came out as we had simply had enough. Even then, the staff didn’t realise that we were leaving early which showed how little attention was being paid to us.

Will definitely not be back

One of the best restaurants serving superb Middle Eastern food. The best HUMMUS I have ever had in Melbourne. The Batata Harra is my favourite. Just near to my home and I have been here 4 times as of now and want to go again. Highly recommended

Fantastic new eatery in Moonee Ponds. Exceptional and authentic food and not overpriced, great ambience, good list of wines.. icing on cake is the service, family run as you would expect from any middle eastern business and happy, friendly people who are delighted to serve you.👏👏👏
APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICEI’m so disappointed that what was a lovely meal was ruined bythe owner whose sense of customer service was to scream at my family (a table of 10) as we paid our $500+ bill. The reason for her appalling behaviour? That we took 1.9 hours of our 2 hour booking to eat our meal. Mind you, as she was screaming “you made me lose my customers” - as my father was rushing out the door to fetch the car for my elderly grandmother of 87 years. My family was extremely disappointed, confused and angered by this service. Paying customers do not deserve to be berated out the door AFTER paying their bill. This ultimately ruined what was a lovely celebration for my Mother’s birthday. The food is amazing, the chef lovely - but the service APPALLING. We will definitely not be returning.

An excellent Lebanese restaurant that's recently opened by a husband and wife team. Although I'm personally not a fan of the 2h allocated dining restrictions, it does help when the service is friendly and helpful and the food comes out super quick. There was pita bread and pickles for the table on arrival, and we ordered mixed dips (all fresh and tasty), falafel (nice), makaneek (very tasty), kibbeh (nice), meat cigars (nice), halloumi (nice), battata harra (super tasty), chicken and lamb grills (both delicious and well-flavoured), and kafta (very nice). We were too full for dessert, but I'll definitely be back to try more on their menu. Recommended!

Very overrated. Forced to make a booking for 6pm on a weeknight only to find the restaurant practically empty all night. Felt like they were trying to get rid of us from the moment we sat down, bit on the expensive side for what you get. Food is good but not good enough to put up with the above. Ordered the falafel, mixed grill, meat cigars, cheese triangles, baklava & kanafeh. Paid $40 ea between 3 people and still left hungry. Would not recommend.

By far the most authentic Lebanese food I’ve had. Everything tastes like it’s home made. The staff are super friendly and inviting. Spectacular atmosphere.

My family and I had the pleasure of dining at Bekka on Father’s Day. Suze and Richard made us all feel welcome, like we were family. The staff were super attentive and so good with the kids!
The cauliflower was AMAZING! The chicken, finger licking. The rice and lamb, just kept us going back for more.
Looking forward to eating there again and again.

Establishing a restaurant in this location is brilliant.
Adjacent to a very popular wine bar / store, Bekka offers a really terrific dining experience.
The owners are very hands on professionals and provide genuinely friendly and welcoming service.
Dishes are great for sharing.
The Lamb Kafta is awesome. Fried Cauliflower hard to resist.
Fantastic value for quality food.

Bekka has opened its doors in Moonee Ponds and brings to the area a beautifully crafted Lebanese menu that pays homage to Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley.

Dining at Bekka is a mezza - a unique sharing experience of fun, healthy and delicious food. We loved every dish we sampled at Bekka. Of particular note was the award-winning Falafel which is aromatic, full of flavour, light and fluffy on the inside whilst perfectly crisp on the outside.

Another absolute must have is the coutlé. Melt in your mouth lamb, beef and rice meatballs served with the most moreish tomato soup and topped graciously with creamy labne. Comfort food at its best, this dish is like a warm hug.

That was delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked. So much flavour and they aren't tight with their dips which I loved.

Dessert; knafeh was also really good. Personally I would have added a little more syrup, but would eat again for sure!
