Just had the best Zuppa with mussels! Delightful restaurant in the suburbs, better than a lot is hyped up places in town - worth a visit! Have been coming here for a few years now and never disappoints! 5 stars too to the lovely staff
Wonderful food, the French waiter was such a pleasure to serve us . Definitely recommend to family & friends .
Excellent food, great service can't go wrong. To guarantee a great meal pick up the menu and say whatever you like. It's all good
Extremely enjoyed the gnocchi and risotto with Italian sausage! Delicious 😋
Highly recommend!!!
Attended San Lorenzo last night for a private function and had a great experience! Delicious food! Very friendly staff :-) keep up the good work guys cheers
Absolutely brilliant food! Brilliant staff! I can happily recommend eating here. Already looking forward to the next visit.
Delicious wood fired pizza and Devine gnocchi
Yum..Yum..yum...so so tasty..every mouthful was mouthwatering and heavenly! Wonderful service, great , inviting atmosphere... definitely coming back soon...Thankyou for a delicious dinner!
What a great restaurant! The service was perfect! The staff were fantastic! Can't wait to go back to sample more of the delicious food!
Loved coming here. The service was awesome just as much as the food was. I don't usually have cocktails but when I had one here it was simply amazing. Will certainly be coming back!

Food was great the service was excellent will definitely be going back
We recently celebrated our daughters christening, extremely happy with the entire service, staff are very accommodating and friendly. Food was delicious! All the guest complimented pizzas very tasty. Great venue to celebrate a party! Thank you team San Lorenzo
food was awesome and the service excellent.
Very happy with our dinner last night we will be coming back
This restaurant is no longer open. Really disappointing as I loved their food :( Hoping they are just renovating as the restaurant is partly boarded up.
What a great venue with excellent quality food. I could not fault the food. I ordered the chicken wrapped in procutto, perfect cooked, great flavor and presentation. Highly recommended this venue. My partner got the rib eye steak with all the side dishes and this too was perfectly cooked. Well done San Lorenzo.
I haven’t had risotto for a while and the saffron porchini pancetta risotto was tasty and I wish there was more!
Parking around the area can be a pain due to permit parking but there’s free parking further down Mt Alexander Rd.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.
Great wood fire pizzas!
Really enjoyed the meatballs pasta dish.
Our pizzas were delivered hot and fresh.
Just abit overpriced.
Take your lover, friends and family here for an Italian night out.
Great little Italian restaurant in the heart of Moonee Ponds. Space is divine and food..... just amazing. Parking is not so good though. Try the Italian doughnuts with Nutella. To die for.
Fabulous restaurant and would highly recommend! Service was fantastic and were so helpful with menu adjustments for dietary requirements! Will definitely be back again, thanks so so much!
Delicious authentic pizzas and excellent customer service. I've never been disappointed at San Lorenzo. Also a good selection of Italian beers. While a little on the pricey side, it is justified and well worth it.
Have been going to San Lorenzo for the past three years and never have had a bad experience. The gnocchi is always amazing and definitely worth trying. Staff are always friendly too.

Excellent food, very italian very satisfying 💖
They allowed us to try a wine and a salami because we are not sure if we will definitely like it and they are very happy to do so.. they deserve a 5star for that! A must have Italian restaurant in Melbourne!!
DINNER
Food was ok here, definitely worth going but nothing super impressive. It's not like I had a bad meal. There's so much competition around this place but it was pretty to look at and looked great inside.
The thin crust pizza at San Lorenzo was definitely one to add to your list of "go to" pizza places! Beautifully thin, crunchy outside but cheesy middle, all of the pizza's let their toppings shine! The prosciutto pizza had the perfect amount of salt - everything you are looking for in an authentic Italian dish.
Ordered this meal on EatNow. First order was 25% off so thought it was a good deal. Got the Gamberi spaghetti which was delicious, seafood pizza....was not bad but not great. Not enough cheese and didn't have enough of that wood oven crispness. The calamari was delicious! Will definitely order pasta and seafood from them again but maybe not pizza.
Amazing food but even better customer service. Tamara went above and beyond and would say this is the best customer service I have ever received. Been here numerous times and never disappointed by the food
just moved to the area have been sussing out all the local pizza places and so glad to discover San Lorenzo ! pizza was delicious perfect base and toppings super tasty, arancini were yum and the bougatsa was sooooooo good wish we ordered one each instead of one to share yum yum will be back (later this week!)!

Very cool restaurant, the staff were very friendly. They did get part of our order wrong and had to wait on 1 meal to be changed as was completely different. Besides that the food was amazing and I would go back anytime. Even the wine we had was really good. Highly recommend
Celebrating my mums birthday and thought we'd try San Lorenzo based on the reviews on Zomato. It's definitely worth revisiting with a warm cosy ambience and terrific food. Our Italian waiter was eager to please and had our pizzas (as starters) to us in 10 minutes. The mains however took a bit longer - a little too long - but were delicious all the same. We took our own cake and weren't charged a fee which was appreciated. Decent wine list but a bit pricey . Corkage at $9 bottle excessive but encourages you to buy from the list (smart). Very good experience overall.
San Lorenzo is a great place for an intimate Italian dinner with its dark and warm fit out. However, put aside ample time for dinner as the service was very slow when we dined (it even took a while just for the menu to be provided to us). However, the food looked and tasted great, with the bougatsa being a highlight! San Lorenzo's menu contains all the usual suspects of Italian cuisine, and is sure to please anyone who wants to get their pasta or pizza fix!
Our favorite local pizza place! Always delicious, no matter what you order. The people who work here are always lovely. I will keep recommending to anybody!!
Great chill restaurant with super friendly staff. The food is to die for. We started with the appetiser board which was a great mix of starters. Had the rib eye which was cooked to perfection. Then ended with a dessert board to share which was demolished! Will definitely be back
A place that knows how to serve fresh Gnocci. If pasta is not your thing they have great pizza to share and other delicious Italian food. Love this restaurant!
We have now dined here three times. We've tasted most menu items amongst the eight of us. The pizzas are great. The pastas are great. The service is pretty good. The mains are hit and miss. One of our rib eyes was inedible whilst the other ok. But to their credit they waived that item on the bill as well as corkage and provided a bottle of free Chianti. Kudos to them.
Taste of Italy!
Each dish we ordered was full of flavour, flawlessly prepared and really makes you realise exactly what it means to want to savour every single bite...because you don't want your meal to end. The ingredients were all fresh and flavoursome. The calamri and the gnocchi are absoloute knock outs, you wouldn't believe the flavours! Our bowl with the gnocchi was licked clean. The pizza dough was thin but so so fluffy and tasted beautiful alone. San Lorenzo is authentic, the staff are warm and on point with their service and the food is really simple but so so beautiful. San Lorenzo is a low key but extremely exceptional taste of Italy.
👍 Best Gnocci I have had in a long time
😕 Constant beeping timer going off in kitchen that was very annoying
😄 Would I go back - YES
Arrived at 6:30 restaurant was empty, but not for long. Ordered backed Gnocci, green salad and pizza bread. The pizza bread was not very nice-just a plane pizza base with no flavour or oil or seasoning. We wanted some fresh bread to dip in the sauce but they didn't have any...weird.
The Gnocci was absolutely faultless. Soft, fresh, pillows. Beautiful melted fior Di latte between the Gnocci. Best Gnocci I have had in a very long time.
Wait staff, efficient and professional.
Only ever had the pizzas delivered but damn they are good. Italian style as opposed to the super greasy pile tons of ingredients on kind. There's a place for both but they do a terrific job of the former.
My recent Melbourne hobby is to visit all the pizzerias hashtagged #bestpizzainmelbourne and as a result I ended up in this venue in a very busy street of Moonee Ponds. Friday evening traffic was immense and finding a parking spot was almost impossible especially in the side residential streets with permit only. Bear this in mind if you plan to visit past 6pm.
I finally made it and sat next to the window observing the late rush hour. It was still pretty empty in the restaurant and I was approached immediately by one of the genuine Italian staff. I ordered a Diavola from the large selection of meals and it was ready and served literally within 4-5 minutes. Call that speedy service!
The pizza was medium to large size and absolutely everything was just right about it. And I'm saying this even before I had my first bite. All or most ingredients are Italian sourced and the salame is magnificent with just the right balance between meat, fat and spices. The dough was perfect super thin and the crust was both crunchy and properly raised without tasting like a thick bun. The overall mix of flavors were great and I can honestly recommend this place as a proper Italian pizzeria.
To end the day I ordered also a fabulous made to order chocolate fondant that takes about 15 minutes to prepare. Super hot and served with vanilla gelato to cool things down, just amazing.
A great eating experience in a trendy place, somewhat less casual than anticipated but still far from fine dining.
Great little joint serving contemporary takes on Italian cuisine. It was quiet on a Thursday night and so we were served quite promptly. They had a large selection of wines and nice Italian craft beers. The antipasto plate was great to start with. All our mains were cooked well and the timing of everything was good. Staff were okay, friendly and prompt. Nice place for a small get together or date. Recommend booking and getting a spot near fireplace.
Amazing Food. Aranchini Balls not to be missed... Panacotta for desert is a die for... Loved their wood fired pizza and bruschetta
This place is a personal favourite of mine. The calzone is to die for, spicy an tasty it hits all of the right notes. The Italian wine selections are very good and the staff are extremely friendly. Have taken several people here and all of them have been impressed
Organised my husband's birthday dinner last night. Even with my last minute changes, the staff bent over backwards to help. They were courteous, attentive and helpful; going out of their way to accommodate some of our group who had allergies. The service here cannot be faulted. The food was absolutely delicious. Lots of flavours and fresh tastes. Being an Italian family we can be very fussy. and we were not disappointed. The meats were cooked to perfection. the pizzas were to die for. Thank you San Lorenzo! We had a fantastic night and we will definitely be back.
Absolutely amazing gnocchi! Fantastic atmosphere and terrifically attentive and friendly service. The whole meal was delicious, even the bread tasted good. Was astounded when we recieved the bill - how can food this good be so cheap??? Will be back :-)
Thumbs up. Great staff and ambience. Food is great. My standout was the lasagna! Pizzas were awesome as well. Great find. Went on a busy Friday night and mauns took about 40 mins. Perfectly acceptable at a most busy time. Big thumbs up to this place.
Lovely pizzas and service. Very friendly staff and the pizzas were fantastic. Would definately go there again.
Best pizza in the world???. I will try to make this review short since I have too many good things to say about San Lorenzo.
I have only been here 3 times. Eaten the Steak, Gnocchi and the Pizza (Reggina).
Every dish has been flawless and the pizza I am happy to give the trophy as the BEST PIZZA IN THE WORLD!
I have searched high and low for pizza. Been to as many great pizza restaurants as I can imagine in Melbourne, including 400 Gradi (way overpriced and overhyped IMHO). In addition, I have been to 5 different Italian cities and tried what I heard has been the 'best' pizza over there. Just to give you some perspective.
Let me just say, to put it lightly, San Lorenzo Pizza blows 400 Gradi Pizza out of the water!! The pizza is also better than the best of Italy. The base is pure authenticity. It is cooked to perfection. The Buffalo mozzarella is not taken lightly! The ingredients and toppings are extraordinary and the chef does not hold back in delivering the finest pizza experience ever!
To differentiate for one example: you order a Pizza with Buffalo mozzarella at 400 Gradi, you get tomato base with random lumps of Buffalo mozzarella and nothing to cover the empty spaces with a pizza size you could hardly consider big for the price you pay.
You end up eating too much tomato base with nothing else, you only get a glimpse taste of the Buffalo mozzarella.
At San Lorenzo not only is the Buffalo mozzarella much more evident, but where it doesn't cover the pizza there is an undercover layer of fior di latte to add to the flavour. The pizza is bigger (for about the same price I believe) the base fluffier and crustier. OMG it is food heaven! There is not one bite which you regret or you think it could be better. I think I have said enough.
Just FYI the owners are not even Italian - doing shame to the Italians in making better pizza than the originators. GO EAT ONE!
Best authentic Italian food Ive had in Melbourne with great service to top it off! Highly recommended!
Our faith in good italian food has returned! Thank you San Lorenzo. We hardly have Italian food these days as we have been quite dissapointed with whats been on offer at most Italian restaurants and the husband says nothing compares to his Nonna's cooking so we tend to steer clear, however on this occaision for my mums birthday I thought I'd book San Lorenzo due to Italian friends raving about it and its high Urbanspoon score. I'm glad we did as the service was friendly and prompt and the food was very good. Especially the Margarita pizza, I'd even say it was better than 400 Gradi's, San Lorenzo's version was much more generous with the mozarella and just tasted better in my opinion. The Baked gnocchi was fantastic, the chicken skewers was a generous portion great for the a carnivore with a large appetite. I dont do well with starchy food and usually get very bloated after pizza, pasta and potatoes but I was fine after which was a pleasant surprise. The only dish that was not much appreciated was the trio of gelato, we found it too creamy, more like a rich ice cream, I'd go with the yum yums, i hate nutella but i liked it on these fried pillows of dough. I would most certainly come back here more often if the horrible parking situation on and around mt.alexander rd is changed, its absolutely ridiculous to drive around for 30 minutes looking for a spot to park and ending up having to park a suburb away.
Absolute perfection! The staff, food, atmosphere and value is second to none. In an area that is hard to find a "great" meal, this was a pleasant surprise! Was definitely worth the 30mins of driving around to find a car park! You can guarantee we'll be back again :)
Possibly the most perfectly cooked pasta I have ever had!
Genuinely rocking little italian joint! The food is dead set outstanding. You'd be pressed to find better.
Great food, fabulous service, would highly recommend this restaurant
A wonderful meal and experience. The wait staff were excellent. I will definitely be coming back
Saved by Lorenzo!. So far I've only tried the pizza here and that's because it's so good I can't bring myself to try anything else! Lovely thin wood fired base with simple quality ingredients! Pizza doesn't need anything more! Great choices for wine too. I'm a local so it's great to have quality pizza choices close to home!
From the moment we walked in we felt a warm and friendly atmosphere. The service was authentic and charming. The food was truly Italian, with quality ingredients and delicious. We will be coming back to this Italian masterpiece.
Best desserts. Second visit here and surprised again at the quality of this Italian restaurant. The food is really exceptional and although there is a bit of a wait the food is definitely worth it. I think they put effort and love into each and every item on the plate.
Also, best desserts I have ever had. So glad this place is open till late!
EXCEPTIONAL. We took our parents here for dinner and all 6 of us loveeeeeed this place. Nothing to fault. Lets start with ambience - 10/10 it looks stunning. Then the service is 10/10. The service was attentive, helpful and with a smile. We loved our Italian waiter who has only been in Melbourne for under a year and he was so lovely. Then the food - WOW! Authentic Italian and simply delicious. All meals came out together and we all loved them. From the entree's - Calamari (lightly fried and seasoned with house lemon pepper seasoning on a bed of leafy salad), Polpette (soft centered Italian meatballs in a tomato sugo). Now to the mains - Gnocchi Sorrentina (house made gnocchi with Napoli, buffalo mozzarella, parmesan, fresh basil, and oven baked), Scialatielli Al Frutti Di Mare (fresh local seafood, scampi, cherry tomato, garlic, fresh chilli, in white wine and olive oil), Zuppa Di Cozze (mussels in a flavoursome soup with house made bread), and the BEST pizza I have ever tasted the Capricciosa (San Marzano tomato, Fior Di Latte, Virginia ham, mushrooms, olives and artichoke). Finished the evening with Yum Yum (tiny little donuts glazed with nutella). Food here was a 10/10 and can I add their pizza is better than DOC and 400 Gradi. Over all a well deserved 10/10 as its the best place in Melbourne for pizza!!!
One of the best around. My partner & I have eaten here a no. of times over the past 6 months and it is always a wonderful experience with beautiful tasting & authentic food, great service and a wonderful ambience. The antipasto platters and the wood fired pizzas are delicious. Highly recommend for either a quiet dinner or a group function.
Not cheap, but fantastic food. A marked improvement on its predecessor - the food was fantastic! (We had entrees, pizzas, pastas and desserts - and there was nothing we didn't like - great food!)
Friendly staff, reasonably priced wine list, and excellent cocktails. Will definitely be back!
Exceeded expectations. Food.... Exceeded expectations.
Food to die for.
Service also fantastic.
Thank you, we will be back over and over.
Best pizza in Moonee Ponds. Great pizza, lovely staff. Will be coming back!
We recently had our son's christening in the private room at San Lorenzo. The staff were great, very helpful. Food was beautiful. We had very happy guests!
My partner and I have just moved to moonee ponds and found this great little restaurant. We have been here twice now and staff are very friendly and the service is fantastic. Food is amazing! Would definatly recommend the chocolate fondant for dessert, absolutely delicious. Have told all my friends about this place and will defiantly be returning soon!!
Fabulous, attentive service. There's an obvious dedication to pleasing customers here and it shoes. The food was also great - amongst the best pizzas around and one damn good calzone.
Excellent staff, lovely food.. Excellent, friendly service and gave great suggestions and not pushy. Lovely food. Starters and desserts are the best. Mains are good. Pizzas are gourmet fantastic. We will definitely be back again.
Really good neighborhood gem. Great food, service and atmosphere. Desserts are extremely tasty
Had a very nice prawn pizza followed by a bugastso desert to due for. All for a reasonable price and good service. The natella yum yums my son had were also very nice.
Great pizza enjoyed it immensely and so close to home!
San Lorenzo easily has the potential to be a major player on the highly competitive Mt Road strip with quick, friendly attentive service and a compact, well priced menu. The only aspect that may require a rethink is the corkage. At $9 pb it's bordering on being a deal breaker. Overall however SL comes highly recommended. Expect to pay around $35-40 for two courses + drinks
Woo hoo! Great food, fab service, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere. A new restaurant keen to make a name for itself in the popular Mt Rd restaurant precinct, and it undoubtedly will. But I could have done without the details of the story of San Lorenzo in the menu :-(
Beautiful food and great service. The menu has a wide selection and a great wine list. Definitely will be returning.
Great New Find. After driving around for 20 minutes looking for a car park we all most decided not to try this new Restaurant In Moonee Ponds.... So glad we did. ....Great home made pasta and the pizza was the best we had out side of Italy.... Keep up the good work guys you are on a winner.... PS cant wait to return for the Dolce Pizza....Cheers
I love this new Italian restaurant...the food is well presented, and the products are hight quality ...the pizza is very yummy!!!Good work guys keep going on this road!
The Aranchi were crispy on the outside and nice and gooey on the inside. Comfort food bliss!
