Such a cute little cafe. The wait staff were very accommodating and warm. I had the chilli eggs...WOW!! So damn delicious i had them 2 days in a row haha! They have a selection of delicious sandwiches too.
The best schnitzels I’ve ever eaten. The Paolo is my favourite sandwich. This place has been consistently excellent for a long period of time. The coffee is HOT too which makes a nice change from some of the hipster cafes.
Best spot in Moonee Ponds for lunch. Cracking sandwiches and the meals are to die for. Staff are great as well! Can't think of a single thing to fault
This is one of Moonee Ponds' best casual eateries. If you're a fan of freshly made sandwiches on thick cut bread with good quality ingredients, then this place is for you! The chicken snitzels are a must try!
They also have a good breakfast/brunch menu and their milkshakes are some of the best you'll get.
A family fan business you can feel the love and passion that has gone into this Moonee Ponds institution.
Cute place that is not hard to miss. So keep an eye out for it if you're in the area.
They got a pretty solid menu to get you going or you can make your own sandwich. Variety of breads to choose from and they are so damn soft!
Ingredients taste fresh and you got a decent amount to choose from. Sticky date was really good. One of the better ones I've had in a while.
Staff were really nice and helpful when it came to sandwich advice. Will visit again.
This is my go-to sandwich/brunch place - have been coming here for over 12 years. The food is consistently delicious and the staff there are always friendly and welcoming. Love this place! Craving me a Paolo's special right as I type 😅 Cheers guys
Been there many times and is always excellent. Quality meals with great selection. Small seating area so get in early. Prices very reasonable.
Best sandwich I've had in a long time. Such great staff and so friendly! The food was so fresh with such a wide range of spreads, vegetables and meats! Very clean
Nice salads and flexible options. I had one with grilled peach - pretty tasty. It was a bit cold inside when we came for lunch. The staff were very friendly though.
Nice place for a sandwich and coffee. I had a schnitzel sandwich which was on lovely fresh bread. They had blankets out the back incase you feel chilly. Great little cafe
Food is of a good standard, coffee needs a lot of work. Better coffee options elsewhere. But if you want a good sandwich, this place always hits the spot.
Young Street Cafe
Located in Young Street (who would have guessed) in Moonee Ponds this unassuming house turned cafe shines in a suburb where you are spoiled for choice, but not for quality...
After my terrible experience at nearby One O Three, I shouldn't have ventured out of the house - I should have put my hours watching Masterchef to good use and made something for myself.
But alas I did not - and how good a choice it was to get Young.
This place has a range of homemade dishes available and a variety of sandwiches to choose. You can even have your own dish assembled.
I ordered the Penny Young sandwich - it was a modern and tasty take on the classic roast beef roll and did not disappoint.
Staff were friendly too, a bonus when the food tastes so good.
I give it 4.5!

I travel over 50 minutes regularly from the Eastern Suburbs, just to eat at this cafe. The coffees, sandwiches and donuts are always of top quality and extremely fresh, I am served quickly and the staff are very friendly.
By far my favourite place in Moonee Ponds. With a variety of great sandwiches to choose from or making up your own you are sure to be delighted. They also supply home made(just like an Italian nonna makes) food that is very good. Not only is the food fantastic, but the price also hits the spot making 20 young Street all round great value. The staff are fantastic, with quick service and great smiles....f you are ever in Moonee Ponds this is the place to have Breakfast or Lunch
If you liked those 'choose your own adventure' books when you were growing up then this is the place for you! They have an amazing menu of sandwiches and salads and daily specials like eggplant parmas and fresh little pizzas but my favourite part is making up my own salad or sandwich from the massive salad bar which includes amazing things like crumbed eggplant and chargrilled pumpkin. These guys have nailed it
Maryland chicken , quinoa & pumpkin spinach salad. Hidden gem
Cute little cafe, nice breakfast, especially the French toast. Eggs were yum- haven't had thick toast with my breakfast for ages it was nice for a change to the usual sourdough.... Coffee needs a bit more TLC with creamy milk. Will return
Breakfast or lunch it's a winner for me. If it was open for dinner I'll attend too! Haha.
Love the vibe decor food and drinks.
Their potatoes are amazing... Get them out in your omelet or sanga!
Where sandwiches are the real deal!. This place is well known for its 'main meal' like sandwiches! Good value and home made, simple and honest fillings! Best chicken schnitzel you can get and fantastic sandwich filling suggestions for all! If you're not into sandwiches they have roasts, salads, pastas and veggies! Whatever the chef is in the mood to cook on the day! As for their cakes and biscuits! All home made, fresh and you must go on Fridays!! Homemade donuts-filled with warm custard or Nutella! You must try if you are in the area!
A great experience all round
Highly recommended. Nice setting, dog friendly, good service but most importantly excellent coffee.
Great food- awesome produce. Simple stuff. Super fresh, super clean- and friendly service. Great sense of humour who love to have a joke with their million regulars. Makes you feel very comfortable.
Love this place! Nowhere else can you get choices for sandwich fillings, salads and all home made! Gluten free friendly choices and soooo reasonably priced!
Looking for the best sandwich in Melbourne? Try this little gem! Tucked away from the hustle & bustle, friendly service & a range of fresh, tasty dishes makes this one of our favourites.
Best value in Moonee Ponds. For it's price and the quality, by far the best lunch in the area.
Love their chicken schnitzel in a sandwich with heaps of fillings.
The best of the best!! Ever.... The best of the best!!
Everytime I go I say "that was the best sandwich I have ever had"
Unbeatable
Amazeballs. Great great place hopefully remains relatively undiscovered so it's not bombarded by after shcool kids looking for somewhere to hang out.
Possibly the best place for lunch or breaky in Melbourne. Great service with a smile, amazing food and awesome coffees.
Must be the best sandwich in the whole area nice and fresh friendly team what a place keep up the great work guys!
Great value sangas. Tucked away in a street behind the main thoroughfare of Puckle Street, 20 Young Street Cafe is a little terrace home converted into a bustling sandwich shop.
You can have a custom sandwich made, or order from the menu which is what I did, as well as having the salmon with scrambled eggs dish. Ingredients tasted very fresh and the chicken breast was well cooked and flavoursome.
Highlight of the cafe are the large servings and great prices. I think my sandwich was around $8 and it was massive! Coffee was similarly fantastic and strong. I'll definitely be back for more.
Have it Your Way. The format at 20 Young Street is practically identical to that close by at 'Above the Breadline', and considering both outlets are under the same ownership, it's no great surprise.
The emphasis is on sandwiches constructed to order, via the enormous range of breads, fillings and condiments on display. There are some creative suggestions scrawled on butchers paper adorning the walls, or assemble your own creative combination. My light rye with chicken, bacon, avocado, tomato, mixed lettuce & mayonnaise went down a treat, and was reasonably priced at eight bucks.
Despite being slightly off the beaten track, and operating out of unassuming premises, the café is certainly well known by office types in the hood, who arrive on mass during their lunch break.
There's some seating inside the café, and more in the open air at the front and rear, however securing a seat anywhere during the lunch rush can be a challenge at times.
Great sandwiches. It's a great place for lunch with an outside courtyard. You order at the counter where they make your sandwiches to order. The sandwiches are always tasty and fresh. They also have lasagne and meatballs which I haven't tried yet. Coffee is pretty good too. Great value for money!
Very friendly and accommodating. The food is just like mamma's home-made cooking.
We all had different sandwiches focaccia and sourdough bread with chicken cotolette (crumbed chicken) and I had Porchetta (roast rolled pork ) amazing. Loved it
Will be back
Hands down the best cafe in Melbourne! Always an amazing array of food options combined with friendly and caring service, every time. You won't be disappointed!
We love ordering our work lunches from here. Sandwiches are truly amazing
There is one of our family favourite cafe. The food is delicious every time I go.
Such a great place. The owners and staff are always lovely, and really care to give you the best produce and service. New specials all the time and some divine staples. Don’t pass this one by!
Family owned and run !
We stopped in for lunch,
Whilst we were there it was extremely busy, this is always a great sign.
The menu is extensive from Breakfast to Sandwiches & Rolls to Salads & hot meals like the "Roast Pork with roasted vegies bowl".
You can create your own sandwichs or salads from the selection of dishes found on display, with all the dishes being handmade on the premises.
Coffee, Cold drinks and milkshakes are also available.
The staff are 100% friendly & obliging, the atmosphere is comfortable, & you can choose to sit outside undercover or inside.
There is also a toilet available out the back.
We will certainly be back !
5 stars
The best cafe in Melbourne with the nicest bunch of people.
