Review The Re-up - Moonee Ponds

Ben Sorensen
This is a lovely place! Spacious and solid local cafe with an all day breakfast and lunch menu. I ordered the Lumberjack Pancakes - bacon, eggs, pancakes and maple syrup! Comfort to the max. They also have a fresh Breakfast Bruschetta which is similar to normal bruschetta but featuring avocado and the most perfectly poached eggs. Coffee is a stronger dark Italian roast and well made. Staff were super comfortable and friendly. A solid local.

Finally made a return to see Dino at Re-Up and have a great tasting coffee. With my coffee I ordered a very delicious Re-Up Benny and it was outstanding. Beautifully presented and tasted so good.I will come back again. My wife ordered a cappuccino she the salmon dish.

Featuring pancakes & breakfast bruschetta. The Re-Up is covid safe with lots of spaced seating inside & out with plenty of natural light & plants. The staff couldn't be friendlier with water & coffee order taken within moment of arrival & in my humble opinion, Melbourne's best coffee! The menu tends to stay the same but caters for so many options, & the quality remains consistent. Delicious & a must visit!

Absolutely amazing service, food and coffee. We had the parma and the chicken burger. The staff is just lovely specially Dino. Went out of his way to make us feel comfortable during brunch. Definitely coming here for coffee from now onwards

Delicious food! The pancakes are to die for and really good portions too. Beautiful cafe, great atmosphere, super friendly staff and nice mocha.

Great food and generous portion. Service was quick and attentive. I would definitely come back!

I came in today for breakfast and the place seemed to be busy but manageable. However, the manager or owner could not handle the pressure and was taking out his anger on the two girls on the floor. Instead of helping the waitresses he decided to continuously swear at them, call them names, throw his hands up in the air and I even saw him throw his dirty dishes towards one waitress and ordered her to go clean them!!! We ordered two coffees with a waitress who was very prompt and friendly in taking our order, despite the fear and stress she had in her eyes from the boss. We then waited 15 minutes for the coffee and couldn’t enjoy it as the boss was being loud, disruptive and aggressive right in front of us- paying customers!! When we payed, the waitress that took our order told us that there was no eftpos, so the manger had another stress attack and started taking it out on her… again! It looked like she had started crying and the manger just totally ignored it. The dishes we ordered were mediocre, however I feel really sorry for all the staff at this cafe, especially with a boss like this one. Absolutely no people skills and totally arrogant. I will not be returning and will not recommend this place to anyone!

Sensational coffee and food with the right atmosphere. The cookies are made fresh on premises (must try!) and the service is always fast. I highly recommend a visit. Dino and his team always make you feel welcome.

I am very happy that I stumbled across this little treasure. The staff are incredibly friendly and personable and the food!!!! I had trouble wanting mess up the art work on a plate that was delivered to me on both occasions. (After yesterday’s taste sensation I had to go back again today 😍) the detail that went into plating definitely makes you eat with your eyes. And then... you take the first bite and realise it tastes just as good as it looks. I am a Sydney boy but I’ll be sure to visit when ever I come to Melbourne. Thank you 😊

Smashed avo was bland and to top it off there was a lovely black hair sitting in it. I politely notified the staff and didn’t even receive an apology or acknowledgement when paying for the meal. Would have also been good to see a smile on the staffs faces... definitely won’t be coming back or recommending the place.

Great to see a new cafe in the area, as a local I was keen to try this place! A friend and I ordered the breakfast board. Unfortunately we received amendments to what was advertised and not informed prior. Food was not great, banana pancake was dry and fritter really oily. I think I had 2 mouthfuls. The waitress was really lovely, when she asked if there was an issue with the food we politely advised her. Thinking as a new cafe they would be open to feedback. I saw her notify the manager ( I think ). When we went to pay, we were served by him, no acknowledgement, no questions. Which was quite disappointing. Hopefully they have some better luck, it’s a competitive area and there are many amazing cafes out there. Coffee was decent.

Great coffee, whole team are exceptional and highly recommend the best cafe in region

Loved the sweet potato cake! Though the Avo smash was not enough to cover both pieces of toasts. Otherwise fantastic experience with the food and staff there. Perhaps that indoor step needs a caution sign...
Kylie LeSueur
Absolutely delicious. Smashed avo with poached eggs was amazing. Highly recommend. Thanks guys!

Great food, great coffee, fantastic selection of meal options and amazing service!!!! Definitely be back!!

Good to see new coffee spot in this area ,I had smashed avo this morning ,how ever food looks great ,but you use overnight smashed avo ,it is dark totally ,don't worth .

Watched this place take shape through the winter months and finally went in recently. Very good experience. Attentive staff, sleek atmosphere and interior. Food exceeded expectations. Smashed avo was a cut above the average. My friend had the hash brown Benedict and was very happy with it. Will be coming back again very soon for sure.

A true disappointment to see such a wonderful potential be led so awkwardly. This venue has so much to offer, yet it is run like a casual fling. Those making decisions here are perhaps inept, ignorant or arrogant.
Andrew Carroll
Food was magnificent. Full flavored and beautifully presented. Great work!
Kristen Hodgson
Food is rubbish!

Good service but coffee was terrible
Re-up and at 'em!

Spectacular service, quick to take order, food didn't take long, and was sure to ask if you needed another coffee when they saw you were done with your first.
The decor was nice, spacious, and minimalist, something I could really get behind.

As for the food, unfortunately this is where they could use a little work. Avocado was a bit bland and sourdough was hard as a rock. Porridge was ok, but another one of these things designed just to look good in a photo and that's about it. The fairyfloss was just for the look, didn't add anything flavourwise, so I have to ask, why even bother? And some cherries still had stones in them, which I have to say hurts when you bite down on one by surprise.

All that being said, would happily go back again.
Eat Good Melbourne
I met a friend here for brunch over summer and I fell in love with the decor. I'm a sucker for the industrial vibes and The Re-up's concrete floors and black window frames was pure eye candy. I opted for the breakfast board as I couldn't decide what to eat with the Melbourne heatwave diminishing my apetite and boy was I impressed. Im not normally a fan of muesli but this was so refreshing and the berries were fresh and sweet (nothing disappoints like a sour strawberry). The smashed avo was also amazing but the iced coffee was the icing on the cake. Perfectly balanced and not too milky, do I dare say the perfect iced coffee?

A modern and homey cafe we passed by and decided to try for brekkie. Very chilled and professional floor staffs. Ordered Veggie Breakfast which was very impressive and proportion was really generous~!
It's the first meal after we relocated to the neighbourhood and we would love to return~!
Vegemite Girl
Quite noisy and claustrophobic in certain areas. We moved and it much much better. Food and service are excellent. We had bacon and eggs with avocado and a felafel salad.

We decided to drop in and try this place for breakfast. It was pretty busy inside but we were seated pretty quickly. The staff were welcoming and were busy rearranging tables to seat people walking in. We had our orders taken pretty quickly and staff kept us posted on our food and drinks. The waitress offered to remake my coffee as she brought it to table as she said it wasnt great. The replacement was really good. Food was a little basic. I ordered a poke bowl with smoked salmon, it was just raw ingredients with a side of ketchip manis, but it must have had honey it was really sweet and didnt work. My friend had the big breakfast which was standard and looked BIG. We might try something else next time, but definitely return for coffee.
Monte Hudson
Really seriously good coffee, meals tick all the boxes, not a fan of the sugar pots and loud music. But I drive a Volvo so are possibly not the best judge. Will certainly return.

First of all must say this cafe has my favourite coffee, for a good coffee this is the go to!
Had the veggie big breakfast recently and it was delicious, full of flavour, generous, cooked to perfection, it's a must try.
The staff are super friendly and always smiling.
Can't wait to go back!

As we walked in to this place. It felt very welcoming, open & with the morning sun penetrating through the front window was judt amazing to sit just in the sun. The service was very attentive & on point. I ordered the Acai bowl which I feel needed more fruit/yogurt to finish the dish. I also had the chilli eggs both meals good & I would give it a 3.5 out of 5

Location/Ambience: Easy to find and lots of parking in the streets surrounding The Re-Up. The restaurant is large, vibrant and incredibly clean. You can tell it is a new venue

Wait Staff: Incredibly helpful - I am lactose intolerant, however wanted the Picnic Board. The waitress happily changed the options to something I could eat & didn't make me feel bad/awkward for asking to change it.

Food: The food was soo yummy! I had the Picnic Board (swapped the yogurt & granola to a potato hashbrown). We also ordered the sweet corn fritters & the brioche french toast option (I think it was with a caramello koala, which was a big plus for my younger sister). The food was tasty, presented neatly & not overly large portions, meaning we left feeling full and satisfied, but not sick.

Overall, I had a wonderful brunch experience at The Re-Up. I will definitely be back & I will definitely recommend to friends.

Good coffee here. Only one vegan food option but it was really pricey so got a juice. My pal said the big breakfast was the best breakfast everett

Yesterday a friend of mine took me out for brunch for my birthday. A friend of hers recommended that we head to The Re-Up in Moonee Ponds.

The ambience of the cafe is great. The interior is cosy but bright.

I ordered the Caramel Waffles accompanied by a latte while my friend ordered Scrambled Eggs with mushroom and haloumi. I loved the waffles, the serving was generous and there was ample cream and fruit. While I didn’t try the eggs, my friend really enjoyed them.

The food was really yum but the coffee is where The Re-Up really shines. It’s smooth, strong and presented beautifully.

Overall, I had a really liked The Re-Up and I’d definitely come back.

Tried this place a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed it! i had the smashed avo and 2 coffees and both were spot on. I definitely recommend this place and i think that with a bit more social media presence this place will kick off.

Loved it! The service is fantastic, the menu is great, they allow for alterations on menu items which is amazing and the coffee is the cherry on top!! It’s bright, it’s very open, you aren’t sitting on top of people, you can’t listen to other peoples conversations (which is fantastic) and you can sit there quite happily enjoying your meal with whoever you came with, not the whole cafe lol!
Can’t wait to go back!
Thank you :)

Tried this place out a few weeks back with a friend , we really enjoyed it. Porridge was very nice, coffee was also good as well as the friendly service 😁😁

This is a great cafe in Moonee Ponds. The coffee and food are sensational. It is nice and bright (not too noisy) and a really pleasant place for a meal. The staff are great also. Highly recommend this place.

Solidly good breakfast food, good size portions and nice staff. Similar to other cafes in the area but would definitely come again. Nice space with lots of natural light with plenty of room. Good family feel to the cafe.

Had brunch a couple of times here and the food has been fantastic. Service is always efficient and always comes with smile!
Great place to sit outside in the sun and have a coffee which we do on a regular basis. Coffee is always great.

We really enjoyed our breakfast feed here 😋

The Sweet Corn and Zucchini fritters were absolutely delicious, especially with the touch of halloumi ⭐️ x5

“The Potato and Portobello Mushroom special was delicious, the only negative I would say is there isn’t enough of it and it was so good” 😅

Came to The Re-Up in a small group, having no issue getting a table or a Saturday morning! The places is nice and spacious with tables not all crammed together which was a plus! Everyone enjoyed their meals and for a place that was fairy busy they came out nice and quickly! Will definitely come back again 😇

Been here a couple of times and will definitely be returning! Lovely staff and even better food. we ordered the mr meat now and the pancakes which were amazing! chai lattes are really good too! 🙌🏽

When I worked in the area I came here every morning for coffee which was always delish! By far the best coffee on Mount Rd. The girls are so lovely, service with a smile always. Haven’t had the food so can’t comment on that but the Pana slices are bomb 😬
Melbournefoodie
Stumbled past this cafe down Mt Alexander road. Nice open lay out. The coffee was good. The food was very well presented and delicious. On a more critical note, the service could do with some fine tuning and so could the presentation of staff. It may be worth investing in some cafe aprons to better convey a uniform and professional look amongst staff.
Magpie
Big open and somewhat noisy premises with a good outlook onto busy Mount Alexander Road.
Food presentation is awesome.
Quality of the dishes and value for money is excellent.
Coffee unfortunately was an enormous let down.....again!

I would have rated this place higher however I was charged incorrectly for my meal. So disappointed as I only realised driving home (which is 30 minutes away for me). The food itself was good and service was attentive and quick.

I enjoyed The Re-Up the place is large, modern and full of light. It was a great place to catch up.

I had the sweet corn fritters for breakfast which were scrumptious and I highly recommend trying the dish. The coffee was flavoursome and well made. My son enjoyed a babycino, he especially loved it as it same with a few mms as a special treat on the side.

The service was friendly and accommodating (it is kid friendly) this is a place I worth trying and I will be back again.

Have been meaning to try here for a while now and was not disappointed. Enjoyed the sweet corn and zucchini fritters and want to try many more items on the menu as well as some of the sweet treats they had for sale such as the salted caramel cookie sandwich. Nice relaxed atmosphere and food delivered promptly. Will be back for more.

We were driving along and spotted this place and we are very thankful we stopped. What an amazing place serving up some delicious food. The stand out dish was the Brekky Board serving up some Smashed avo with a poached egg and a bowl of granola. This place is amazing!

Good atmosphere, very modern and clean, good quick service, really good breakfast and food quality that’s for sure. Could be a tad better with a wider ranging menu, for what we had, it was amazing. Definitely recommended

A welcome addition to the area, breakfast burger was hearty and filling and I must commend the cooking of the thinly sliced bacon,
As it should be !! The kale and avocado toast was great and the coffee full flavoured

Always exciting when a new cafe sets up and big cafes usually result in extensive menus and The Re-Up offers exactly this. We were seated at a table next to the window and ordered our meals. Drinks arrived first and within a few sips my latte lost its froth and became very flat and watery. My friend's tea came with a cup that had no handle which was impossible to hold with boiling water at 100 degrees (OH&S concern) so he had to ask for a traditional tea cup. Regarding food, i decided to go vegetarian and order the sweet potato fritters. When they arrived the plating was exquisite, just a beautiful sight with eatable flowers and nice contrasting colours. The fritters were really good, sweet and had lots of flavour and lovely texture on the inside and came with 2 poached eggs (not 1 like at other places) as most of the breakfast type meals do here. The romesco sauce worked really well and the mushrooms and spinach were nice though some of the cherry tomatoes were raw. My friend was not as impressed with the 'Meat Mr Now' as all the meat on the plate seemed to just be cooked on the grill without any preparation and love (as he said anyone could cook this.) The dish looked good but was underwhelming when it came to flavour. When it came to service we were not impressed. I was still on my last mouthful when i was asked if the plate could be cleared and my friend was still half way through his meal. Also my half drunk latte which i had pushed to the side was ignored and no questions were asked about our experience when it came time to pay. All in all new cafes have teething issues and im sure ill dine here again in the future as the space is very inviting, modern and full of light.

Pretty delicious all round. Had the eggs on sourdough (poached) with hashbrown. Everything was yum and the hashbrown was really creamy inside. Friend had the smashed avo which looked amazing. Great coffee and chai. Friendly service. There was a minor hiccup with our food order but staff were very apologetic and comped our hot drinks which was a lovely gesture. Would happily return!

Very nice place for tea ( or coffee duh!)
Went there for brunch, ordered the pancakes ...
nicely decorated (fancy!!!) but it’s abit dry (was expecting to gimme that extra maple syrup) and the bananas on the top of the pancakes could’ve been caramelised , and maybe get rid of the black end on the banana ( as you can see the brown end of the banana from the pic)... lolol
Overall it’s a good cafe. Will definitely come back..
Xx

Unfortunately wasn't satisfied with the service nor the food. We were offered a table outside as there were no spots inside left, and our waitress told us that she'd move us inside when there were spots available. Siting in the blizzering heat waiting for her to get back to us, she never came back and we had spotted multiple seating inside. I had to get up to ask if we could be moved inside, and that's when they moved us. Obviously forgot about us. On top of this it took half an hour for our food to arrive..... I would be some-what okay with my experience if the food was good, but that was not the case. The acai was very watery, not the texture of a smoothie, and the chili scrambled eggs was really oily and cheesy... Expensive aswell. Ciao

Great new café in Ascot Vale. Very spacious, which is nice for a change. Good coffee and selection of cakes, including raw treats. Great menu choices and the food is really tasty. Friendly and welcoming staff.

My friend and I came here for breakfast and loved it! I had the smashed avo and my friend had the Benedict. Both were really yum, couldn’t fault them. The coffee was also great. I would definitely recommend and will be back!

I really enjoyed the food here. So did the missus. Coffee was ok. Missus ordered strong and it wasn't really strong enough.

Staff were really nice and food came out relatively quick. However, it was a little pricey for the amount of food. But worth checking out.
Shareefie
A bit pricey for not enough food. I got the picnic board which wasn’t bad but it was barely any food. A small piece of bread with avocado and an egg, a small bowl of fruit purée and granola plus a little mango drink. For $20+ I don’t like leaving hungry.

My husband got the lobster and chicken burger which he said was good.

I’m so so happy this place has opened in the heart of Moonee Ponds🙏 it’s so nice to have an amazing cafe close to home because I feel like in ascot vale and Moonee it’s tough to find a cafe like this! It has a beautiful contemporary interior - makes you feel relaxed. Very light and open. Really nice greenery as well. The staff are super lovely and food is fantastic they have such a good variety ! They also offer bonsoy which is awesome! And lucky last they have the PANA chocolate treats which is just the icing on the cake! AMAZING! I’ll be back and everyone needs to check this place out!!
Second time visiting this cafe and was a bit disappointed. The fitting of the cafe is nice and open with plenty of light. The food was amazing first time round as well as this round although the acai bowl, pictured below was not as good as it look and had melted a bit was it was under a heat light whilst waiting for the staff to bring us our food. Another point it’s that we waited around 35 minuets for food and watched other people that arrived after us, receive their food before us. Will be returning but not to get the acai bowl!
