I come here for the friendly staff and good coffee. My friend raves about the hot chocolate stating its the best she has had. Great location across the street from the train station.
These guys always get it just right... nothing too fancy, just good, honest food that hits the spot, friendly service, and damn good coffee. Comfy chairs and a cosy setting top it off to make winter weekend brekky awesome :)
Yummy soups and caters well for Vegos, like myself. Not a fan of the wraps but the food that is made fresh and on the spot is yummy! If you're into soups this is the place for you bad boys/gals
Friendly prompt service and yummy well cooked breakfasts served with a smile. Eggs were perfectly cooked.
Give it a go!. Had the Cheese Mushroom at Rusty Duck and it was absolutely amazeballs!!
the cafe had a great atmosphere to it. service was a bit slow. but the waiter was lovely.
would definitely be back
My favourite brunch cafe. The staff are lovely and welcoming. A nice cozy little cafe to have a leisurely brunch - food is great and the Chai is made to perfection.
Still a great place for a quick coffee or brekky and it's somewhat removed from the hustle 'n' bustle of Puckle St :)
Iv had some amazing meals here, and some very bad ones. E.g. The eggs range from beautifully cooked, to rock hard.
That being said, when it's good is great!
Lovely coffee. Delicious coffee and gluten free options available with all meals
5 visits. Lovely, cozy & friendly place. The food is cooked fresh when order so there is a wait, unless you need something quick then try a take away store that's Pre cooked & waiting for its next purchaser.
Coffee is done to your liking.
Food at a very reasonable price for Moonee Ponds market.
$7.50 for eggs on toast.
Very good all round. Lovely service, decent pricing, kiddy friendly. Any cafes that's busy will tend to be a tad slow than normal.
Amazing!! The whole package; friendly staff, tasty food and good coffee. Something with their perfectly cooked eggs served with their impeccably cooked homemade gluten free hash browns is the way to go. Now a regular stop during my weekend routine.
Best of Puckle!. I've been here several times in the last few months, and it never disappoints! When I went in last time, I was promptly greeted by all 3 staff behind the counter. The waitress bought water to the table as I sat down and took my coffee order. My latte was fantastic, and the barista came and delivered it herself. I ordered the big brekkie, and it sure lived up to its name. The portion is HUGE, but the quality of the food is more impressive. Perfectly poached eggs, I'm so sick of them being overcooked at so many other cafes!
I've eaten at heaps of the cafes on Puckle, and none beat this one. Most are just about getting the customer in and out, there is no quality of service. Plus they are overpriced! Here all the staff I have met are so friendly and always smiling. And the food is so reasonably priced, I just love coming here with my family to eat. Definitely a hidden gem just off puckle street. ((muffins are a must, the flavours are always changing (I've had the chocolate and orange) and they taste so fresh - yum!!!))
I went there for a breakfast with some over seas guests after i had picked them up from there hotel before they go back home and decided to go to moonee ponds for breakfast looked in to the place called the rusty duck the aroma of coffee was so rich and lovely reminded me of when i was in italy the people that were at the counter were lovely we were a party of 6- 4 adults 2 children we had a lovely waitress come to the table very polite and smiling which was a pleasure to see a smile from the waitress we first odrered a coffee and the 2 children ordered a hot chocolate well they wanted to look like the adults so the waitress made theres with extra froth on top , we then ordered. we were recommended a dish from the waitress who recommended a solmon and cream dish with capers i cant remember the complete name well it was a hit with all the adults the children had some scrambled ehhs and of course chips were there for them i was watching to see if the waitress noticed we had finished our breakfast and when we all had finished she came and asked if we needed anything else and we all said no we were full. the meal was beautifully set the colours and tastes of the complete breakfast was equal to a five star restaurant but the prices were very reasonble i would say . i would highly recommend this cafe for any one who enjoys a fine breakfast with out the high price . i have since gone back and with other friends who also enjoyed a great lunch and excellent service 10 out 0f 10 for this cafe for service the food was always hot and never faultered try it for your self and taste the difference and the aroma of the coffe it will take you back to italy all the best to the team of dedicated staff at the rusty duck keep up the good work and customer service .
Had breakfast here over the weekend, whilst the waiters/waitresses were a bit unsociable and rarely smiled the place was quite cozy and was quite relaxed and wasn't very cramped or busy which was good. The breakfast menu has a lot to choose from and we tried the big brekky and the veggie brekky and were not disappointed at all! The food was really nice and had lots of flavour and was all freshly cooked! I would recommend eating in, their window display sandwiches and rolls looked a bit manky! Would eat here again :)
Food is amazing!!! They now have more menu options which is great....ive been going there for the last few weeks and the staff are all very kind aswell. Ill be back again this week :)
Went here on a friday morning because the boathouse breakfast menu was extremely basic & barely up to standards. So we stumbled across rusty duck. Girls behind the counter were friendly and inviting. Awesome coffee, juice, eggs and hash browns. Will come again. :)
Fantastic breakfast. Wow, what a breakfast. I ordered the Veggie Breakfast, for $17.50 which I thought was a bit steep but you don't have to eat for the rest of the day. 2 perfectly poached eggs on sourdough, grilled tomato, steamed spinach, sauteed mushrooms, a piece of saganaki, a potato rosti and home-made baked beans in a yummy tomato-based sauce. My companion had the poached eggs on top of a chorizo and potato sort-of-stew (again, in a delicious tomato-based sauce), sprinkled with fetta. YUM!
The coffee is just OK, unfortunately.
The specials board looked interesting for lunch. This is a cafe that doesn't do the same old, same old - it appears to offer delicious dishes with a mediterranean slant.
My only suggestion, apart from perhaps improving the coffee, is that they should make it clearer that you need to order and pay at the counter. We sat at a table for while waiting for the menu. Only until I got up to get the menu did I realise (it's printed on the menu). I couldn't see any other signs advising of this policy.
