Visted Zara’s kitchen for lunch today and would definitely recommend. Clean restaurant with attentive staff and service. Good price point for serving size, we’ll definitely be back!
The most amazing experience in Moonee Ponds . We went for the 4 courses, All courses were well explained and tasted first class, Thank You to the chef for making us explore our taste buds. The waitress Jenny is very attentive she looked after the four of us and our dietry requirements as one of us is vegan. Had a lovely chat at the end of our meal with Jenny. Loved the food. Keenly looking forward to my next visit there.
Held my family function here, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They were courteous and helpful. All of the food came out at the same time and was great quality and good value! Highly recommend, lovely place
Just had a lovely family lunch, food was excellent and service great too. We’ll be back soon. I had pasta risotto pizza and dessert and loved it all.
Zara’s Kitchen is a Northern gem of Moonee Ponds – a wholesome family-run Italian restaurant named after the owners’ daughter, Zara, serving up hearty Italian food that is not only incredibly delicious, but also affordable and fresh. Located near Italian hubs of Melbourne, Zara’s Kitchen is THE definition of a family restaurant that delivers hard competition to the nearby Lygon Street Italian venues of the Melbourne northside. Melbourne has perhaps one of the strongest Italian food scenes in the world, so any Italian restaurant has tough competition!
WOW!
This restaurant is great, it got everything what a favourite restaurant should have.
First the Food is awesome, I had a prawn linguine and couldn’t stop myself from eating the whole plate, it was just to tasty!
The Atmosphere In Zara’s Kitchen is lovely as well, it’s a beautiful family Business and you can feel the love in every direction.
I can recommend Zara’s Kitchen to everyone who likes good Italian Food and enjoys a good Glas of wine.
Zaras Kitchen will be from now on my new favourite Italian Restaurant.
Really visited such a great restaurant after ages. The hospitality and the ambience was good. Moreover, the best part was food. It was tempting and delicious.
Zara’s Kitchen is a family-owned Italian restaurant located in Moonee Ponds that serves authentic, delicious and stunning Italian dishes.
We came here on a Wednesday night at around 7:30pm - the venue was spacious, welcoming and very elegant. The restaurant was fairly quiet as it was a weekday but we have heard that the place is quite busy on the weekend.
We started off with the Bruschetta and the Soup of the Day which was the Chicken and Mushroom soup. For mains we had four-cheese Gnocchi, Roasted Pumpkin Pizza and the Lamb Ragu which was on the specials board. For dessert we had the Sticky Date Pudding.
The Bruschetta was presented very well and had a generous serving of tomato. The dish tasted delicious and the tomato was very fresh! The soup was definitely one of our highlights - it was full of flavour and there was a plentiful amount of both chicken and mushroom. We absolutely loved it.
The Gnocchi was incredible! Although there were four types of cheeses, they were not too overpowering and you could taste each one of them independently. I was extremely astonished at how beautiful that dish tasted. The Lamb Ragu was also tremendous. The lamb was cooked very well and the sauce really made the dish special.
We loved the pizza as well! The Roasted Pumpkin came with feta, mozzarella, toasted almonds, spinach, roquette and goats cheese drizzle. The ingredients worked very well together and although it was not wood-fired, it still tasted amazing.
The Sticky Date Pudding was AMAZING. We’ve been told that their pudding is extremely popular and one of their signature dishes and I could definitely see why! Although simple, it had a perfect consistency and the ice cream was a great accompaniment to the dish. It was a great way to end an amazing meal!
Zara’s Kitchen has been around for almost 2 years and has recently been granted their alcohol licence which is always great. From my experience, it definitely surpassed my expectations. We were delighted to be invited here and cannot wait to visit again when we’re back in Moonee Ponds!
We were invited to Zaras kitchen. It was 36 deg so happy to enjoy a fantastic cool comfy restraunt with lots of light and space too.
We were greeted by the owner and was starving! We started off with the bruschetta which was refreshing along with the haloumi salad that was very well balanced.
We could not go pass the vegetarian pizza and the creamy chicken pasta which was on point and full of flavour.
Zara now also have their liquor license so along with a glass of red this was a fanastic meal.
We were too full for dessert but we enjoyed a great refreshing ice coffee.
Nice place for food. I like the feeling in here which is very relaxing and very chill. Food was on point all the time and service was much pleasant.
We came to Zara’s Kitchen, a family owned establishment named after the couples daughter . The chef who has years of experience in fine dining truly masters the art of Italian food !
We tried the haloumi cheese which was stringy and exactly what a happy cheese should be , gooey and irresistible. We also got a cheese board which show cases a nice variety of milawa cheese .
The pizza which we were told was a specialty was amazing , thin crust and base , perfect amount of toppings and all made to order , can compete with one of the bests !
We also ordered the house special lasagne , this was comfort food at its best ! The layers of pasta were all made fresh as well as the rest sauce in between .
The highlight of the night was probably the seafood pasta, our pasta packed a lot of punch due to the chilli kick ( this can be altered ) . The fish was cooked to perfection, as tender as it could ever be , the sauce was so flavoursome , my friend and I were in heaven and completely shocked .
We ended the night with the creme brûlée which was spiced with cardamone I think . This was a nice unique surprise ! Great crack too
Overall I really recommend coming here, I made quite a journey here and can say it was well worth it . The food and the service is top notch
Thanks for having us !
Delicious authentic thin crust pizza - better than many pizzas I have tasted in Carlton! The margarita was delicious as was the supreme. The service was exceptional - speedy, friendly, polite. I will definitely be back.
Most amazing pizza!! (Just as good if not better than some of the best pizza restaurants I’ve been too in Melbourne). We enjoyed fantastic service and will definitely be back. Our favourite was the supreme!
Place looks pretty swish from outside. It was
empty due to holiday season so the waiter was super attentive. Very friendly and accommodating.
Biggest thing to note would be that it was not licensed and is BYO only.
The food was very yummy. Had the lamb shank, which was a generous one shank and cooked perfectly, the flavors and sauce were generous as well and packed full of flavor. Chips were cooked well and were steak cut.
Also got a pizza, which again was full of flavors. Pizza was a little wet in the middle and made it a bit soggy.
The pasta selection was about 5 to choose from which we thought was weird for an Italian place. Overall a good experience and the food we had was very tasty.
What a food we had last night.. It was the best Italian food we ever had and the staff is so friendly.
Must try porcini mushroom risotto and pizza are thin base and crispy.
What a lovely local family dine in at Zara's kitchen was. Jenny, the owner was so considerate of our dietary requirements. We started the night with the haloumi and salad entree which was light, crispy and well rounded with the side salad. A perfect entree to get our taste buds tingling for more.
Both seafood linguini and seafood pizza were light and flavoursome. Lasagna was rich with a creamy mash on the side. Gnocchi was melt in your mouth. They have a few different risotto's on menu so I hope to see a few different gnocchi options in the future.
Desserts were a perfect end to the meal. The panacotta just silky smooth with its sweetness balanced with the berry couli. Our creme brulee's top cracked so gently and was also oh so smooth. The date pudding was soft and tasty even though we omitted the ice cream.
The place is very quiet for a Friday night. The owner was very friendly and the food was nice. It’s on the pricy side for the overall experience but can’t fault a thing. Just wish they had more customers so it wasn’t so dead
We tried the Pump kin Pizza for the first time last night and the food was great, freshly cooked very tasty and well presented. The service overall was good. The restaurant looked to have been recently decorated. Overall a good meal and great value we will certainly be going back
The cuissine is 2nd to none and impeccable service with attention to detail and the staff are friendly and attentive!Every single time we have been to Zara's restaurant we are always happy with the exquissite food and attention to detail. The chef Jess takes into consideration complimentary taste sensations and puts them together with finess and artistic flair!!!

We were lucky enough to be invited to dine at Zara's Kitchen located in Moonee Ponds.
We started our dinner with deep fried halloumi for entree. It came with rockets, balsamic and pinenuts. It was one of the best halloumi sticks we have had. It was crispy on the outside and stretchy when pulled.
For the main course, we had their special lasagna, peperoni pizza and seafood linguine. The lasagna was top notch, the top and side was a little burnt (the good kind) making it crispy. The bechamel between layers was great as well. The pizza was also really good, the mozzarella cheese went really well with the peperoni. We also enjoyed the linguine, there was heaps of seafood which is a plus.
Unfortunately, we went nuts on the savoury dishes and didn't get a chance to try their dessert, but we will definitely try them when we come back again!
Tonight we dined at Zara’s kitchen in Moonee Ponds. Named after the owners daughter, this venue is a brightly styled in red & black with cool lighting and plenty of seating. The owners of Zara’s take freshness seriously and shop locally for the produce that go into their dishes rather than rely on deliveries. Having a byo license (wine only) enables customers to take their favourite quaffer along for company which is always good for family celebrations.
We started with a trio of dips, avocado (super creamy), capsicum (super spicy) and beetroot (lovely and earthy) all served with lovely crunchy toast. We also ordered the olives, these were served warm with in a coating of herbs and spices, and very Mediterranean.
For mains we ordered the veal scaloppini from the specials menu with mash and a rich mushroom sauce. The mash was creamy and I liked the inclusion of enoki mushrooms which you don’t normally see on a scaloppini dish.
We tried a large pizza ½ four cheese and ½ a margherita, and a medium pumpkin pizza. All the pizzas where tasty for me and I especially liked the inclusion of blue cheese on the 4 cheese pizza. The absolute stand out pizza was the pumpkin, it had a variety of roasted pumpkins and a variety of cheeses (including fetta) and a delicious scatter of rocket and slivered almonds. I found the almonds added a great crunch to each mouthful and really sold me on this dish. Despite being full I just couldn’t stop.
Our last main was the gnocchi with a tomato and fresh basil sauce. The sauce was classic and tasty and the serving quite generous.
For desserts we shared the crème brulee which was absolutely bang on with flavour and an awesome crunchy lid. We also shared the sticky date pudding which had a lovely light texture but was full of flavour. A very generous serve and not too sweet, the lighter texture meant I wasn’t left with that heavy guilty feeling in my stomach.
Thank you so much for inviting us in.
We were invited to Zara’s Kitchen tonight, an Italian restaurant which has been opened around a year. Being a Monday night it was pretty quiet so not exactly a lively atmosphere but they sure were doing a lot of trade via uber eats. The prices here are very reasonable and the portion size extremely good value.
We began the meal with some warm olives and a trio of dips with bread. The olives were a very generous serving and we all enjoyed the dips with toasted bread. I decided to join the vegetarians and embrace meat free Monday with the Napolitana gnocchi and a half and half pizza comprising four cheese as well as Margherita.
A Greek salad on the side rounded out our mains while our other dining companion had the veal scaloppini special with mash. We also ordered the roasted vegetable pizza which was a huge hit with our vegetarian diners. I personally really loved the Margherita/four cheese pizza. They were both very flavoursome and the pizza base itself was delicious.
We were almost too full to manage desert so we had 2 between 4 opting for the creme brûlée and a sticky date pudding. My pudding was not as sickly as they often are with the typically rich butterscotch sauce, this was more of custard but with a thinner consistency. I also detected a taste of aniseed throughout it which was confirmed when I found a fennel seed. This was an interesting twist and coupled with the sauce this made for a lighter rendition of this traditionally dense dessert.
Overall a very affordable casual dining destination with all the Italian classics.
As much as i love gradi pizza, i ordered the 'zara's special with chilli and garlic, little cheese' as this place was still open or uber late night...
Seriously, good luck trying to find a better pizza in Melbourne, what a pizza!! Felt like i was eating a long time perfected recipe. Amazing flavour all round & unfortunately my diet will be turned upside down twice a week :)
The owner was very friendly and looked after us, food was delicious and well priced. Overall this place was super good, and I’ll definitely be back.
Came here on a Groupon earlier today. Had a very enjoyable meal. Antipasto to start which was incredible. We both had spinach and ricotta ravioli which was enjoyable and a Panna Cotta for desert which was very flavoursome. Very friendly and attentive service. Highly recommended.
Tried this out for the 1st time and will definitely be back. Great customer service and the food was literally the best Italian I've had. Antipasto had a great mix, especially the grilled pumpkin slices. Hubby and I struggled to get through our mains as they were great big servings-OH but the sticky date pudding WOW I love sticky date and this is the best I have ever had and I've eaten a lot of them. The chef has added a twist (fennel) and it was a perfect addition to a traditional pudding. Highly recommend.
Wonderful service, we were attentively looked after by Zara while her husband cooked our very nice meals. Golden crunchy chips with a parma that had a fresh and tasty topping was good, the Pumpkin pizza was outstanding. We were made to feel very welcome and will be back for sure :)
First time!
Went for lunch around 2.30pm. We were the only customers. We were very well treated and welcomed by the owner.
We tried the Thai Beef Salad and the Curry Dish. Excellent food! Definitely be back. Highly recommended. I hope the service continues even when busy.
Amazing food, ambience& hospitality ...was worth trying a new Italian place. Pasta was up to the mark with all the flavours just perfect...will definitely be coming back to your place. My little girl loved her pizza...said it’s better than Pizza Hut🤗🤗🤗🤗
Delicious gluten free pizza and superb Pannacotta dessert!! Excellent service, the owners are very kind. I and my husband will be back for sure.
Gave this newly opened restaurant a go tonight. Ordered delivery, menu items ordered was the seafood linguine, veg pizza and creme brûlée. Food was awesome. Pasta was cooked perfectly and had a nice chilli kick. Nice and saucy too, very flavoursome. The veggie pizza was delicious, thin buttery crust. Heaps of veggies and cheese. Creme brûlée wasn’t perfect but still edible. Would have been 5/5 if the dessert was awesome too. Will definitely go back.
Update. Dined in and the restaurant was dead. Don’t know why, maybe because it’s new. But the food was great, customer service was very good, staff were very attentive. Reasonable prices also. I think around $70 to feed everyone including coffee and desserts! 😊
