Great authentic Japanese food and drink here. Friendly staff too. Came here for lunch and was not disappointed by the Tonkatsu bento.

We've been here twice for lunch and both times have been great. Friendly staff and delicious food for a small price. The fresh wasabi is great.

Came for dinner on a Friday evening and it was wonderful. We ordered a range of items and everything was delicious! Highly recommend the beef tataki and miso eggplant especially. Staff were lovely and service was great. We'll definitely be back.

We had been looking forward to eating at Kingyo as we are big fans of their other Japanese establishment “I dream of Sushi”. We certainly weren’t disappointed. The food was delicious and presentation exquisite. We wish you luck with your wonderful new venture.

This place is tucked in on a corner near Moonee Ponds station and is definitely worth a stop. A selection of food that is a significant step up from other run of the mill Japanese restaurants around the area. The food is delicious and particular highlights included the sashimi range and eggplant croquets. The overall selection was 10/10 with a nice spread of vegetarian options. With lovely staff and quick service, this place is somewhere everyone in the inner north west should visit.

Forget anything else in this area - I’m talking about the whole area - amazing food Top value !! Top food !! Top service- I feel like this meal should have cost me way more !!! Oh my god that miso eggplant and the sashimi was second to none !! I had dinner at a place in Richmond ( no names ) this place was at that level !!!

The stars given is because they have lovely and friendly service but the food is 0/10. Flavour of all the dish was horrible, wagyu steak was overcooked and hard, rice in sushi was dry and hard. I have no positive statements regarding food.

The food here was ok. There was nothing wrong with it but it didn’t wow me. There are so many good Japanese places in the area. The competition should be fierce.

4.5 - What a lovely little Japanese place this is. The ladies who served us were extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was all very nice, fresh and enjoyable.
I really enjoyed the fact that they had unique Japanese beers to add to the ambiance

We just loved our night out at Kingyo. Service was attentive-the hand rolls and sashimi were fresh and delicious. We were there a couple of months ago and the place was packed but it didn't miss a beat. So glad to have you as another wonderful local option. Don't get too popular though please- ill never be able to get a table!

What an amazing Japanese restaurant. Every single dish we had we awesome, worth every calories. Some of our favourite dishes are chicken chilli prawn gyoza, wagyu beef, kingfish carpaccio and spicy tuna rolls. The raw fish and beef were definitely top notch quality.

Recommend!

Had a great meal here on a chilly Friday night. Warm and cosy space that matched the fantastic, genuine and warm service. Everything we ate and drank was excellent. The rolls (we had tuna, salmon and tempura prawn) were more creative than you usually find in Melbourne, and worked perfectly. They were also much bigger than at most places, with eight large pieces each. We love Chiba Japanese, but definitely enjoyed the food and service more here.

Went there for lunch. Good value and well presented. Limited lunch set menu was delicious. Friendly, efficient staff. We'll be back for dinner.

Got the omakase for 2. Serving sizes are decent and was pretty full by the end if the meal. Miso soup was a tad bit salty but still very flavoursome. Recommend here for a decent place on the west!

Excellent sushi! Good selection of wine and sake as well but I ended up having several glasses of the house-made Yuzu "lemonade", so fresh and delicious! I really liked the Kingfish Carpaccio and the Nigiri platter especially. Great value and such a pretty place to dine. Definitely going back!
