Review Silver Seas Chinese Restaurant - Morley

Sandy Barry
Usually my go to place for dim sum. The food never dissapoint and good service too. The owner is always accommodating. The chicken feet flavour is very nice and so is the deep fried squid tentacles. The place is a bit run down but as long as the service is good and food tastes good as well I will always be back as it's hard to find a dim sum place with both!
Yobe Trace (YOBE COSPLAY)
Dine in for many times and they never disappointed us. Dim sum are fresh and big plus the boss lady is super nice! Her service warmth your heart every single time you come. So humble and considerate. Price is the best compared to surrounding dim sum restaurant too. It's a must go

Very fast service, food was well presented and tasty, reasonable pricing! Definitely coming back again for yum cha

A good dim sum place if driving to Northbridge is a hassle. A good location in Morley and the restaurant is clean, well maintained and comfortably spacious. The staff are friendly. the food is excellent. The only issue I had was with the century egg pork porridge, it is not nice and the pork had a stale oil taste to it which ruin the entire porridge as that smell permeates through the dish. Overall, it has good quality dim sum and I would recommend this place.
ZALTY TASTE
Would not recommend this restaurant, had to ask for dirty table to be wiped down. Lipstick stain was on tea cup, Chicken wings were not cooked properly, Beef was slimy & tasted off. Food was horrible. This restaurant is over priced with poor service.

A Hong Kong dim sum restaurant we tried today in Morley. The service is very good for a dim sum restaurant. The staff actually said thank you politely whenever we declined a dish when they came around and they even smiled. The deep fried durian puff is definitely worth a try. The money bag was a burst of surprise in the mouth. The deep fried squid tentacles were crispy and tasty but not too salty. Which is a nice break. The prawn dumplings (ha kao) were steaming hot, have a nice crunchy prawn texture with the right thickness of the skin makes it almost pleasurable in the mouth. I'll probably avoid the chi chong fun and the phoenix claws. They were a little mushy for my liking. Otherwise a good option if one couldn't be bothered to drive into town for a dim sum meal.

Loved their Shanghai Dumplings :) Lots of free parkings around. This BYO restaurant is situated right across the street from Dan Murphys!!

Went there lunch with my wife. The dishes ordered were Siew Mai, Steamed Prawn Dumplings, Beancurd Roll, Pan Fried Dumplings, Squid Tentacles Overall the food tasted pretty good. Like all good Dim Sum restaurants, there was a food trolley pushed around where customers could select hot steamed dishes from

Food was absolutely delicious!! Cooked perfectly and mango pudding was hand-made. Light in flavour and melts in your mouth. Dim sum portions were perfect and 1 portion more than most dim sum places. Siu mai looked much bigger than other dim sum restuarants and everything, overall delicious!! Menu for dim sum was really easy to read and follow. I can identify my favourite dishes as i tend to forget the names of the dishes. My new favourite dim sum restuarant now!!
Riska Apricia
Very diverse dimsum menu, great portion and the ingredients that they use is fresh (ie prawns). The staff are always friendly especially the old lady (i think she's the owner?). This has been one of our fave dimsum place.

Took the kids last year, disappointing service, and tried add a surcharge for EFTPOS!

Wow the Dim Sum was so delicious, fresh and very affordable . Will definitely be back!

Really unassuming place but with really delicious dim sum. Always fresh and always good. Prices are reasonable. Probably one of the better places in Morley for yum cha

Last week,we went here for dinner and got dim sum.this time I actually counted how many Dishes I ordered and what the total amount was.it was about $86.we then got 3 cans of coke.my husband went to pay.lady behind the counter said $114.husband said wait a minute that doesnt sound right even with the cans of coke it should be only be around $100 ish and that us being generous with them.lady knew what happened and immediately lied saying she charged us extra for tea.we still end up paying $106.
We being going to this place for years and I couldn't believe they can do that to you.what a dishonest business.im very disappointed how they can ripped peope off like that.from know I will be counting every serving that come on to my table.
Foods is great but be careful and watch out for being rip off.
Jack
Awful service and the place is filthy. The inside reminded me of the toilet at Bassendean train station on a late Saturday night. Poor effort.

Got in just before the lunch time rush, range didnt seem huge, but freshness and flavour was good.

Chicken feet cook extra soft, prawn rice flour rolls were also good.

Great dim sum! This will be one of my fav places to have dim sum from now on. I loved everything we ordered. Nice atmosphere, friendly service and the food came out quick. I recommend the chicken pie!

This is a favourite 'Go To' for Dim Sum. Always tasty and great service. The food is consistently good and we have frequented here a number of times since they began as have tried nearby and always return here :)

We’ve only ever come here on a number of occasions for dim sum. Good food at a very reasonable price. I think the service could be better - we were left sitting there just picking food off the waiters with trays offering dishes, no one told us we needed to place an order, we had to work it out ourselves after noticing other tables receiving their food and so had to flag down a waiter and also order. Other than a lack of communication, we enjoyed our lunch.
LilMuncher
A good place for dim sim that is local but not as good as the ones in northbridge. The food and prices are decent and good enough if you crave dimsim but can't be bothered to head out to the city. I usually order takeaway from here as well. You usually have to order the food, they rarely push trolleys of food around for you to have a look.
Sandy Do
This place is surprisingly good! I've been here 3 times now and have been pretty impressed every time. The service is friendly and fast. Everytime i go to dim sum my standard orders include - hagao, shumai, fried squid, fried wontons and the steamed bbq pork buns. This place delivered on all my dishes with good flavouring and freshness.

Taken almost all different friendship groups to this joint and almost all of us share the resounding conclusion that this is possibly the best Dim Sum joint especially on Pork Buns and Rice Flour Roll + Fried Dough
Holly
Had dim sum here with a group of friends today and the food was delicious and also very well priced. Service was okay however we had to repeat ourselves a few times. Would definitely come back
Rob
Prices here are reasonable. They have a standard dim sum selection, nothing is outstanding but nothing is bad either. Parking out the front.

On a second visit still reasonable but not outstanding dim sum, Downside is the guy who cleans up tables by dropping crockery into a trolley from a great height, oblivious to the fact that the noise spoils one's dining.
Erin Eats
Definitely go here for yum Dim sum. They predictably have queues, but they also have a speedy ticketing service, so if one of your party arrives late, they can get the table sorted. We sampled the steamed pork buns and Chinese chicken buns with chewy and fluffy goodness, with the chicken actually being even more tasty than the pork. The prawn and chives dumplings were also a steaming sensation.

This place is now getting popular but still my fave in the suburbs if I'm too lazy to go into Northbridge. The steamed prawn dumplings, deep fried prawn dumplings & steamed pork dumplings are my fave here.

Its ok but i feel like "wangs treasure house" is way better but thats just my opinion. But if ur looking for a dim sum place near here - its a great place!

Sick of long wait times for dim sum in Northbridge, we decided to adventure back to Morley in order to try another fairly popular choice. We were seated in record time, and began ordering our usual dishes. The food came out suspiciously quickly after ordering, but we were all fairly content that we were eating and not still waiting in a line.
InMyFaceHole
Grabbed lunch on the Monday public holiday. It was only half full so service was quick. We tried a variety of things, nothing amazed me but my friend has been many times before and said its usually better. I suspect they made a lot of food for a busier period but it was quiet so the food had been sitting for a while on the trolley. The salt and pepper squid was really nice as it was fresh out the kitchen. I'd happily give it another go to try some other things. :)
Amy Lu
I love the fact that they do dim sum for dinner here. The dumplings were tasty - we had the prawn, pork, Shanghai and scallop dumplings, deep fried squid and the fried BBQ pork dumplings. All dishes were tasty and met my expectations. Lovely staff too :)
T-M@c
Came here for yum Cha with a friend, the service is friendly. You don't have to wait too long for a table. We ordered the prawn and Clive dumplings, Shanghai dumplings, pork and prawn dumplings and the fried squid. The dumplings were tasty and delightful. Would definitely come back here again.
Caz
This is by far the best dumpling restaurant that I have been to outside of China. We dine here at least once a fortnight and have never been disappointed. The dumplings are always fresh and tasty with my personal favourite being the prawn and coriander ones. Service is always friendly with smiles all around which is not often the case for other popular dumpling restaurants in Perth.
Sue Somerly
Fantastic, attentive and super friendly service and great food. Went here a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. Even better, there wasn't the massive queue you find across the road. Will be back.
Clayton
We've been visiting here many times over the last couple of years and enjoyed the place a lot. Sadly in recent times we've noticed a big change here. There was a Japanese girl running the floor and she did it effortlessly. She no longer appears to be here and I don't know if it's a coincidence but the place often seems chaotic while not even being overly busy. Quite a few dishes seem to have fallen away in freshness and quality. Such a shame as this place was so good and had a great atmosphere. Toying with the idea of giving it one last chance but pretty over it I'm afraid 👎
Perthfoodie8
My favorite place for yamcha..we always come here late past 1 oclock to avoid long line..very nice owner and staffs..excellent foods and best egg yolk buns ever..recommended..
FineDiners
We were really satisfied coming out after having dim sum for lunch. The food was made well, fresh and of good quality. We really wanted the salted egg yolk custard bun (lau sar bao or liu sha bao) and it really did deliver and satisfy our craving. Service was a little slow at times when it came to ordering specific items we wanted, such as the lau sar bao. Otherwise, they were fairly quick to wheel the trolleys of food over. A very busy restaurant, so be prepared to wait. We had to wait about 20 mins or so and was made quicker by the fact we didn't mind sharing tables with strangers. If you're not ok with that then you just have to wait longer.

For all those who know me, I LOVE dim sum. I would seriously eat it all the time if I could. But sadly I cannot because my ass just doesn’t need to grow more than it already has. Anyhow, I digress. A lot of the nice dim sum places or popular ones at least are known to be in the City/Northbridge. My favourite dim sum place use to be Dragon Seafood which has unfortunately closed down. However Northbridge Chinese restaurant (previously Chau’s teahouse back in the days) is also nice. But sometimes (well, most of the time), I can’t be bothered venturing out to the City so I was super happy when I found a delicious dim sum place which is relatively close to where I live. Silver Seas serves consistently good dim sum. It’s always fresh and the service is great. They are always busy but have a great system – when you are seated they bring you tea and chilli oil so you don’t have to ask the waiters all the time. They also have a designated waiter who goes around with hot water to top up your teapot. Well done!

Worst customer service I've ever had. We ordered fried squid 4 times but never came. We found the hair in the prawn dumpling so told them to swap with new one they did but they tried to charge us double. Never come back.
Foodiedudie
Always drove past this place but this time we thought we'd test it there yumcha after recomendation from a friend dumplings where ok ordered some sticky rice, was stone cold and then decided to try the squid, chewy hard and unenjoyable, the women at the till is rude and never smiles like she's in a pissed of mood which isn't appealing for the customers, would I go back? Probably not, my favourite new moon dimsum in northbridge still wins hands down.
Jo
Never going back. Bland food and tough tentacles. Pepper beef was all fat and grisly. Way too much salt used. The wait staff cant help you at all because they can hardly speak English.
Foodage
I'm glad a friend suggested going to this place for yum cha. Today was more about the company so the ambience and service was not under scrutiny. The deco is enough to make you comfortable eating there. The service was executed with smiles and I did get the ice tea that I so desperately needed! I was surprised with the quality of the food. Definitely comparable to the well known yum cha joints in Northbridge. My friends seemed to enjoy the tripe and chicken feet. I was happy with my siew mai and har kau and crispy tentacles and fried lobster dumpling! I was a happy man. Next visit I'll bring along my family and friends!!
Pascal
Went there three times for lunch and I honesty enjoyed the food only the first time. I had their dumplings, wonton soup ((I had 10 wonton in my soup), squid and sesame balls.

I went there yesterday & was advised that you now need to order dim sum and no trolley was available. I’ve been served 20min later and the prawns were still raw. NO excuses were given the staff even seemed to be annoyed by that remark, I had to wait another 15min to be able to eat my food. Anyway because I truly loved the food the first time (and I honestly think that things like that can happen) went there again with my wife today. We ordered 2X prawn dumplings with chives, wonton soup without noodles and crispy squid. They came back with the wonton soup with noodles, tripe with ginger and shallots and 1 prawn dumpling. When advised that the order was wrong, the waitress did not seemed to accept that she was wrong, we explained that the first time the amount of wonton was 2X more, that we never ordered tripe and it was the prawn and chives that we wanted. The waitress and manager frankly did not seemed to understand. Won’t go there again, really ruined our experience
JO
Very good dim sum here - one of my favourite places!! Must-tries include their crispy squid, rice flour rolls and shanghai dumplings. Sooo good! Service could be a bit more attentive though.
Frederick Wong
Night time dimsum is always good, this restaurant does some pretty good dimsum though it is a bit pricey, service is pretty quick, definitely worth coming to for a dimsum run if you're looking for one!
Billylamb
Each time we have wanted dim sum over the last 6 months we have come here. Clean, new interior with friendly staff. Good service especially for a dim sum restaurant where staff can sometimes be a bit inattentive. The food is fresh and tasty and the egg yolk buns are so delicious. Easy to find free parking too so it sure beats driving around in circles in northbridge or spending $ on parking!
Emma
My family and i go out for Dim Sum most weekends. Everyone loves Silver Seas. The service is great, the staff are friendly and most importantly the food is always hot, fresh and delicious!
Anastasia Lambetsos
So good! Amazing dumplings, especially in Perth were Dim Sum's popularity is growing rapidly. Good variety and easily accessible location. Another local hidden gem
Katii
The dim sim is very nice here - lots of variety dishes. The staffs are very friendly and the service is very fast! The bonus is that there's free parking and you don't have to drive to the city to experience fresh and tasty dim sim.
Brett Princen
This place is a great find if you like top quality dim sum and service with a smile. It's small and doesn't really have much of an atmosphere, but the food is consistently good and so glad we don't have to travel all the way to Northbridge to fight the queues.
Markeverson2808
Brought my partner to this place on a Saturday morning and it was not as crowded as the yum Cha place opposite the road. Although the queue was not as long, the place is reasonably crowded for a weekend. The food was good and the service quite friendly. Can chalk this up as another dim sum place to go to if you want to avoid the crowds on northbridge.
Magical Fairy
I've always wondered why there are queues for Chinese dim sim on weekends. While
Northbridge is still THE PLACE for good Chinese dim
Sim, the suburban Chinese restaurants have started to become very popular as well. Silver seas in
Morley is one of them. I love these canapé size dumplings and buns. We had the bbq pork buns, shrimp dumplings, radish cake, steamed beancurd, homemade fish cakes and lots more. They were all beautifully made and packed with flavour. The menu is extensive and you don't really have to order as everything comes to your table and you simply pick and choose. Service was attentive though it was lacking in quality. Maybe start with a smile next time to make your customers feel welcomed?
Michelle Moulton
I really enjoy yum cha on a Sunday morning - you have to here early to avoid queues. I love their Shanghai dumplings. Service is quick & friendly and it's nice not to have to travel to northbridge for good yum cha
Lamb Pickles
In comparsion to most restaurants that serve yum cha, this restaurant still holds its dishes and services at good standards. Mother says that the yum cha here tastes better here in contrast to Sydney. Service is very good with the exception of refilling the tea pots with water... late at times :/
Twomatoes
Great service, good food. Even with the rude customers, the staff still maintained their friendliness and the food was absolutely amazing.

Posted on April 28, 2015 May 11, 2015 by theroundeyereview Silver Seas Chinese Restaurant 10 Old Collier Road, Morley, WA. 6062 ( Warning: I apologise in advance for waffling on but being my first dim sum review/blog write up I will most likely get carried away ) Dim Sum, Yum Cha, That Dumpling Place, The Weird Place Where They Eat Chicken Feet. What ever you call it, the result is always the same. A great feed at a great price. Unless you call it by the last one, in which case your sense of adventure has disappeared just like your name in my contacts list. For me, and a huge amount of my close friends, dim sum is an institution, a hangover remedy, a love affair, and the perfect setting for a weekend catch up of pints and chopstick fury. It is arguably one of the most social eating experiences on offer, and with the exponential graph of “cost verse total people” it means the more, the merrier, the cheaper. A long wait for a table, a noisy environment, frantic ordering and whirlwind eating, are not usually things one would associate with a great meal, but with dim sum it is these things that make the whole experience brilliant and I love it. I first stumbled on this dining wonder in Hong Kong in 2001 when I was a lot more sheltered food wise than I am today. And even though I had a great meal I was not appreciative of what had just unfolded into my life. Fast forward a few years, and set back in our lovely Perth, my friend Micah reintroduced me to this lunchtime treasure through Northbridge’s Hoi’s Kitchen on William St. At the time this was a mecca of a dim sum joint, it was busy, noisy and most importantly mindblowingly tasty. Yum cha’s magic finally stole my heart and stomach forever more. The old Hoi’s Kitchen on William St Fast forward again to the present and over the last 12 years I have hunted the best of dim sum far and wide. Locally, interstate, internationally. Wherever I ventured on my travels I had to test the best of what each city had to offer. From

Loved it!. We arrived at our usual dim sum joint only to find it closed for Chinese ny, so following our noses traipsed across the road to Silver Seas. The service was friendly and efficient, the price very reasonable and the food delicious - stand out for me were the prawn & coriander dumplings. Safe to say we have found a new regular haunt
Paul
A clean restaurant. Very good service. And of course great dim sum. Yum!

Pretty good dim sum on a Sunday ;-)

Cannot fault this restaurant, food, service, atmosphere, décor... absolutely flawless. I like everything about this place, even the floor tiles, is that weird? Maybe.

My new favourite yum cha restaurant.

Amazing!. I absolutely love this place! I live in Perth city and with all of the restaurants that do dim sum i much prefer to travel 20 minutes to go to this place, the service is always fantastic! the waiters are so friendly and attentive the food is incredible and the price is reasonable - by far the best dim sum i have had in Perth!!
Magda Wittek
Great yum cha in the burbs. Awesome not to have to trek into Northbridge to get good yum cha! I know it's not traditional but I love that they serve yum cha in the evenings (on Friday and Saturday nights). Food is fresh and fast and the staff are lovely.

A friendly DimSum restaurant where you can relax and enjoy your meals .... REVIEW: Silver Seas Chinese Restaurant, Morley

I have been here a few times now and enjoy this restaurant. Its spacious enough, the staff speak English, they don't make you feel rushed and uncomfortable (I feel comfy enough to check my iPhone, do my emails, answer Facebook, take photos of the food without getting weird looks .... I can take my time and when you're dining alone .. makes a huge difference * smiles * )

With the bowl of seafood porridge - I was amazed what a lot of INGREDIENTS were at the bottom - not half cut prawns - big quality ones, scallops and decent sized fish pieces ... impressive ... and generous quantities of finely sliced young ginger too ...

You can order the DimSum from the menu or wait a while and they will come out on trays carried by the waitresses .. ( weekdays) ... I have not gone there on the weekends - but the gaps between the tables could easily accommodate the metal trolleys laden with DimSum. The food seems freshly cooked there, is delicious (I'm am so fussy lol) and generous in portions. Children are welcome too ...

It's a busy area but parking is readily available if you're patient ... as it's in the middle of a employment agency and major bank.

Note: No additional charge for EFTPOS for savings cards but when using Credit Cards - min value $40
Angela
Love this place! Although it's not as good as dim sum in northbridge. I always order the same thing; prawn dumplings, Xui Mi, Bean Curdle, prawn rice paper roll, squid tentacles and chicken feet! Love these, except the bean curdle was a Huge disappointment. But I love everything else, especially the chicken feet! It's fairly priced, but it still tastes good! I usually go at around 2pm or 2:30 to avoid the long wait for lunch time rush! I suggest you not go at around 12 - 12:40pm unless you want to wait outside the store for more than half an hour just to be seated!
Pris
I really dont get the good reviews saying it's yummy and cheap. I really don't think it was!

Except the fact that there is a dim sum joint within your suburb and you cant be bothered to find a park in NOrthbridge - I personally prefer to drive further.

I tried the standard dim sum must haves. We had siew mai, fried squid, char siu buns, chicken feet, steam rice paper rolls, porridge, har gao (prawn dumpling). All very average. Service and price was average too.

Not rushing to return but would give it another sometime since it's near home.

You know when you see a good percentage review and are disappointed when you get there? This is it. Went there on Good Friday. Wasn't even that busy. Service was so bad - not even a smile, the waitress clearly displayed her impatience and lack of desire to work at this place. Food was too salty, only the shanghai dumpling and the tea gave me mild satisfaction. A family of 4 ate 12 dishes max and I ended up paying $90. Couldn't be bothered fighting over the bill because I just wanted to get out of that place. Would rather go to Silks in crown and pay three times as much than go back.
Kencho
Very rude staff. Words can't simply describe how rude these people are! We waited and Waited for some food to simply come to us but it just didn't happen even after we mentioned it to them they just simply made even more a point not to come around with the yum cha trolley and not to mention how patiently we had waited outside for a table and said nothing even though they would let people in before us that came way after. We wasted 1.5hrs and got a prawn dumpling each.
This was not yum cha this was a joke....
Food was pre made frozen stuff anyway I can tell guys thanks but no thanks hope you stay in business for at least awhile longer? But don't like your chances.

Favourite!. I've been to a few dim sum places in Perth and this has to be the best by far! No oily residue and the food is so tasty and delicious. Fried squid is a must. Highly recommended.
Chenno
Best salt and pepper squid and shanghai dumplings in town! Silver sea is now me and my partners favourite dim sim restaurant!
Mildred Pearce
The food is tasty, authentic and great value. And you can get dim sum at night - practically unheard of in Perth. I would recommend the char kuey tow. The only thing I would change is the weird blue lighting. It's not the most romantic place but the service is friendly, which is rare for a Chinese place.
Jennifer Lane
Great food, friendly service, large portion sizes. Great authentic Chinese food
Ann Wong
The best Dim Sum restaurant I ever tried in Perth! Large proportion with appropriate price! Yummy yummy food~~~

If you loved Oriental Inn then you will love Silver Seas. All your dim sum favourites are there. Food was delicious.

Love it!. Visited tonight for the first time with two friends as we were long overdue for a dim sum catch up. I've never had dim sum outside of Northbridge and was excited to hear good reviews about this place as it is quite close to home. I believe it is also one of the only restaurants that serves dim sum in the evenings. Though I understand it is supposed to be eaten for lunch, who cares! I could definitely see myself eating here before a night out!

When we arrived, we were actually greeted by the wait staff! Most dim sum restaurants are famous for bad service, but I must begin by commending the service we received. The service was quick and efficient, yet very friendly. By far the best service of all Perth's dim sum joints!

As for the food, most dim sum we've had before can be quite inconsistent with some delicious choices and some very average ones. But at Silver Seas everything we had was perfect! We were almost 'waiting' for a bad dish to come out, but it simply did not. We had the prawn and chive dumplings, chicken and Chinese mushroom buns, Shanghai dumplings, deep fried yam dumplings, chilli and pepper squid tentacles, soft shell crab, deep fried dough rice flour roll, lava egg yolk bun and fried seaweed wrapped prawn. Everything we had was by far the best in Perth. And it all came to the very reasonable cost of under $20 per person!

I'm still amazed at the highly positive dim sum dinner experience and cannot wait to return! Highly recommend this place for good, consistent dim sum! Enjoy!
OnePointFive
Had to wait 45 min for a table. Nice decor inside. Food wise, some were great, some were so so. But they were all fresh n hot when they came out! That's a plus!!!
HIGHLIGHTS: Lava Egg Yolk Bun, Beancurd Roll, Ha Kaw, Chinese Dougnut in Rice Flour, Lo Mai Gai, Siao Long Bao.
LET DOWN: BBQ Pork Bun wet and fatty, Egg Tart's better at Northbridge Chinese Rest, Fried Squid overcooked n chewy, Tofu Fa no hot version available.
Overall pretty good, we'll come back.

I Tried this new place yesterday with my 4 yo son because he wanted a dim sum fix. We were amazed that at 1pm on a Thursday it was full and most of the people were Asians. Very Good sign!! The staff were very effecient, they showed us to our seats. I didnt even have to ask for his cutlery. It is very kid friendly. Atmosphere was good, the tables were reasonably spaced and clean for a Chinese restaurant. Including toilets - Although they would need more because I can see the place getting very busy in the future. Food was as I expected - Fresh and hot. Loved the squid!! We only ate 4 dishes, had a pot of tea and 1 can of lemonade for $35. Will definitely recommend to family and friends. It saved me the hassle of a trip to Northbridge and parking fees. will be taking my kids regularly when we have the urge to eat yum cha.!!! What are you waiting for go try it. If you think something isn't nice tell them so they can improve on it eg. Extremely salty or cold.
Samantha Ellen
Loved the S&P squid tentacles...soft shell crab is worth a try too.

BBQ pork buns are nice but very sweet filling, a bit too sweet really
Philippa Statkus
Food was good- prawn rice flour rolls were awesome! Service was quick and helpful. Lighting is bright to the point of clinical which is a little off-putting, but I'll still be back.

Excellent. Finally my wish for a local restaurant that services dim sum at night has come true. I tried it on the weekend and really liked it. The food and service were really good. Looking forward to going there again.

This place gets better and better on every visit. Made to order dim sum on a Sat night.. doesn't get any better.
The Non Existent Diet
Patchy: Far from the best dim sim NOR. Mum, her friend from Malaysia and myself decide to try out this (relatively) new dimsim joint in Morley. We go for a late lunch (~2pm) on a Sunday. First impressions are always important, and from the moment we set foot into the restaurant it was clear that the place (even after “rush hour”) was severely understaffed. I counted 5 people on the floor and upon first glance three things were clear – 1) the place was excessively messy with multiple tables piled up with dishes, 2) very few dim sim trolleys were making its way around the room despite the place being half full and 3) the waitresses/ waiters had absolutely no communication going on and looked consistently hurried and harassed. It took a good 5 minutes for us to be seated, with a waitress trying to sit us at cluttered table when there was an available table at the front of the restaurant. I was unceremoniously tossed a used placement (the soya sauce stain was very apparent) and we sat for another good 5 minutes waiting for chinese tea.

Food-wise, the dim sim didn’t fair any better. There were some nice standard dishes that were good – the chicken legs with black bean sauce ($4.80), lava egg yolk buns ($4.80), spicy beef tendons ($4.80), minced pork and prawn dumplings ($5.20), deep fried dough rice flour rolls ($5.80). The lava egg yolk buns were particularly good – fluffy white dough containing a rich, smooth consistency of golden filling.

The shanghai dumplings ($4.80) had a good explosion of soup upon consumption, but the pork meat inside was tough and grisly and far from “juicy” as described in the menu. The pork and century egg porridge ($4.80) came with a distinctively smoky aroma (likened to the smell of cigarettes) which could have only been attributed to burnt porridge. Unacceptable to serve in any facility, regardless of time of dining. The deep fried chilli and pepper salted soft shell crab ($8.00) had a good hit of salt and chilli, but erred on the side of ungenerousness with only five pieces of crab.

Personally, I would trek down to just around the corner for Joyful Chinese Restaurant. The service is faster and their dim sim is top quality. They have bigger serving sizes (and liberally use their ingredients to suit their customers – their prawn dumplings are packed with huge plump fresh prawns and they have great soft shell crab), reasonable prices and proficient service. Best of all for both places, there aren’t excessive long waiting times and easily accessible parking (compared to the ones in Northbridge). If your not too fussy, Silver Seas Restaurant is suitable for a dim sim fix.

Overall rating: Six out of Ten Lava Egg Yolk Buns
Paul
Really Good!!. Have been to a number of Dim Sum places throughout Asia and Australia and this would rank amongst the best. Great prawn dumplings, good service and prices aren't too bad either. Likely this will be hard to get into soon so I would suggest trying it out in the short term if you like quality dim sum.
RrR
Great dim sum and excellent service.....definitely one of the best dim sum place in town. Their prawn dumpling is really good. Much better than those ones in Northbridge ... Thumbs up

New favorite Dim Sum in perth and cheaper than most. Nice staff and good service.

Suburban dimsum at it's BEST!. So it was after some late-night shopping on a thursday night that my family and I happened to drive past this new establishment. At first I thought it was another local chinese food joint but on closer inspection they had dimsum! at night! we had to try it, so we were promptly seated. The service was fast and efficient and our orders were taken and the food was just as quick given that they were at 80% capacity and were quite busy...and straight away as the food came one by one I knew I was in for a treat! Each portion of dimsum looked fantastic, and it tasted just as good, in my opinion on par with some of the places in northbridge if not better! It's so refreshing that new dimsim establishments are popping up in suburbs, one in south perth and now Silver Seas in Morley with such good standards and reasonably priced. To sum up, thoroughy recommend this place, good location with ample parking, great service and great dimsum!

Better than in Northbridge!. Awesome food, friendly staff, convenient parking, great value.... Its def better than having dim sum in Northbridge!

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, comfy chairs & enough table space to put all the dim sum dishes onto. Our favourites were chilli squid tentacles, prawn dumplings, chicken steamed buns but all dishes were fresh & tasty. Thank goodness we can park out the front & not have to go into Northbridge for quality dim sum!

By far the best Chinese food I've had in Perth! Great central location, lovely decor (no more great Chinese food in average dated restaurants!)
Excellent prices. Absolutely divine food!
Definitely returning customers!

Not bad brown cow. Overall impression is not too bad.
Atmosphere was good.
Surprisingly busy considering its only been open for a few weeks!
It's bright inside, windows allow lots of natural light in which is good.
Modern decor and interesting wavy design on walls.

Had the usual dim sum dishes.
Food was quite salty but not unbearable.
Chicken feet were ordinary.
Prawn rice flour rolls were a bit too soft.
Prawn dumplings were tasty though.
All the rest were fine, nothing special...

Unfortunately, on several occasions, we heard smashing plates in the kitchen and had some waiters dropping bowls at the tables!
At times, the waiters were too focused on clearing up tables (even though no new customers were waiting) and the diners had to wait around for service.
Other than that, decent outside-of-Northbridge dim sum.

New owners only open three weeks but already has a well established feel to it. You can put that down to a friendly and helpful staff who know what they are doing and are attentive rather then intrusive. The food was very fresh on the hot trolley and orders off the menu arrived quickly and well presented. The stand out for me was the Salt n Pepper, Chilli Soft Shell Crab. Had this dish at many a place but this easily outshone any I have had before.

Thumbs Up!. Great dim sum that's not in Northbridge! I am thrilled there is food of this quality and value that doesn't involve fighting for a car park.

Squid, tripe, rice flour rolls, steamed, all the usual - all fresh tasting and delicious. Probably the best bean curd roll I've had anywhere as well.

Service was friendly and efficient - this is definitely going to be a regular for us.

I was heart broken when the Oriental Inn was sold, good bye yam dumplings and perfectly cooked chilli squid.

I am thrilled that the owners opened a new restaurant in Morley. The squid is excellent, the yam dumplings are awesome. The food comes fresh from the kitchen and piping hot!

The decor is lovely and modern and they have eftpos facilities.

Best of all they are also open on Friday nights f

Lovely staff, food was out pretty quickly and was tasty. Chilli sauce was really good and dumplings fillings were lovely rice flour dough on a couple was a little thick. My kids are tough bbq pork bun critics, but they were happy girls. Nice new spot to go when you can't be bothered to find parking in Northbridge.

Overall we were very happy with the service we received. It was quick, efficient and very attentive to diners' needs. All up for the two of us, including tea was just $41.80 - WOW! We normally pay around $60 for 2 at Dragon Palace!!!

The restaurant is crowded and the service abrupt, even a little intimidating for someone not familiar with yum cha, but of course that’s all part of the authentic experience that you’ll find at pretty much any yum cha restaurant. The prices are reasonable but the servings are on the stingy side, and the quality this time around was lacking compared to my first try – maybe it will be third time lucky? All three restaurants are gaining popularity, so I’d recommend going early to avoid the queue. Although I stand by my statement that good yum cha is worth waiting for!

All up, when we paid our bill we were full and for the most part satisfied. At $56 total for the three of us, this was a great deal cheaper than the city/Northbridge dim sum joints I would normally go to if I felt like this type of food. The service was great at Silver Seas too, so really the only downfalls for me is that char siu flavouring, and the fact that our tea was so jammed with leaves we couldn't pour it without making a mess... which we did. Whoops!
