The Manhattan is a favourite with our family. The pork belly is to die for and the arancini balls are super yum! Never had a bad meal and the service is excellent!
Yummy, tastes homemade, and a huge menu. Family owned atmosphere. I’ve been several times and have always thoroughly enjoyed my meals, and everyone I’ve been with thought it was delicious too.
Can I just start by saying the waitress Georgia who was wonderful she was polite and very attentive to us always made sure we were happy and didn’t interrupt whilst eating 🍽 and the food was amazing I received everything I asked for I will definitely be back from Melbourne 🙌🏼
Lovely venue. The food was excellent - the best gnocchi I’ve had. It was “melt in your mouth” and balanced well with the chicken curry main sauce. Meals were a nice size. The staff were friendly and helpful with checking for allergy requirements. The second main was a vegetarian dish - well cooked and balanced flavours. Highly recommend the desserts - I had my favourite “tiramisu” and I wasn’t disappointed. Highly recommended this restaurant if you want something a little classy.
Great atmosphere for couples or families, great staff, amazing quality food, really impressed me. Good location and good service, absolutely recommended won’t be disappointed!
Food and service amazing! Highly recommend the duck pasta & Italian Shiraz wine.
Visited this weekend on our mini moon, and could not fault this place. Staff are attentive and friendly, assisted us with the food options and wine recommendations. If you’re in Mornington definitely worth a visit!
Food: Outstanding! Starters: calamari, followed by mains: husband had steak and I had the twice cooked pork belly. Finished the night with a beautiful tiramisu, which had the perfect ratio balance between coffee, liqueur and sponge fingers.
Ambience: Outstanding! Great for a quiet dinner for two or a large gathering of 50.
Service: Friendly, attentive and unobtrusive! Price was reasonable.
This place is the best in mornington. We called quite late in the day and got a table as long as we were out by a certain time because of other bookings. When we got there it was empty, but it quickly filled with patrons and it was understandable why. The food was so good, EVERY SINGLE PERSON finished their plate and we were a party of ten picky women! The fish and chips dish was slightly sub par but the rest of the menu more than made up for it. Service was great as well, and our waitress was lovely. When in the area 10000% going back.
We had an amazing food here with a lovely weather. The person who served us has a nice and warm attitude and the food is perfect here. Will recommend Mussel with garlic bread and the top no.1 pasta. Love this place will come back again!
I've eaten here many a date night with my partner. Service is great and food is delicious. I usually go for the gnochi, which is incredibly soft, or the seafood spaghetti, which is packed with seafood! Only down side is that the food is a little on the pricey side but worth it for a special occasion.
Lucky Duck. This was our first restaurant birthday celebration in our Sea change location, and it was going to be for Hubbie’s birthday, just a few weeks after moving in. We had booked ahead, and arrived to a small table awaiting us just opposite their front door. Opulent, classy, yet warm and inviting. That is the upper-class yet traditional Italian vibe I got as we sat down. There was seating on the ground level, and I could see the stairs beside me spiralling up onto another higher seating level. Elvis watched us from one wall. Waiters and waitresses were in professional uniform. It was a perfect place to celebrate something special.
Manhattan In Mornington
+5
Freshly made pastas great Italian and local Peninsula wines
Best polenta chips with Gorgonzola dipping sauce
Perfect Espresso Martini and delicious Italian doughnuts with Nutella and house made ice cream
Perhaps the best dining experience we have had in Mornington. We both had the pasta marinara. Excellent. Plenty of fish and a good dose of chilli. Some high quality wines by the glass.
Boy is the pasta sauce rich here. The is pasta could have been a nice flat fat pasta and the osso bucco unfortunately was a little on the chewy side. But the sauce, I could dive in that sauce and happily drown. Same goes for the meat ball sauce. The lemon tart was nice but was just too sweet. But the sticky date pudding is a winner.
This place was recommended to us by friend. We weren't disappointed. It's possibly one of he better meals you could get in Mornington. The Mare e Monti (Marinara) was possibly the best I've tasted and I would definitely go back for that. I have also ordered the Caesar salad with chicken and that was also excellent. Average portion sizes but perfectly prepared (I asked not well done egg and it was brought out exactly so). The pasta was al dente, well seasoned and the seafood was fresh, not pre cooked or over cooked. The boys ordered the meat platter (Grigliate Mista) which was delicious and came on a bed of veggies. The meat was soft and perfectly cooked. Alcohol always hikes up the price but there are some decent bottles at the $60 mark which were perfect. Service was pleasant. The place was packed. An odd choice of decor for an Italian restaurant but who cares when the food is good. Not a big fan of the profiteroles but the cheesecake was a good choice and the Italian doughnuts were delicious. Overall a pretty good meal for a suburban restaurant.
Came all the way to Mornington to try this Italian restaurant for our monthsary! Full of excitement and expectation, they really never disappoint me! The pasta was awesome, as well as the pizza! Pizza & pasta will never go wrong 🍕🍝
Was looking for a nice italian venue for lunch today and discovered Manhattan in mornington. Service was friendly and informative, decor was great and fashionable, but the food...the food was amazing i could not fault it. I had the osso buco i chose to have it with papadelle pasta, it was smooth and silky and my taste buds were tingling anticipating the next bite. My husband had the garlic prawn risotto a generous serve of fresh prawns and amazing flavours. Mil had a pizza crust base and toppings were delicious. All meals were a generous serve so much so we could not fit in dessert.doyourself a favor and give it a go. I will definitely be back.
Having lunch here after a long walk along the beach was such a delightful experience. We started with scallops and cheese chips as entree. The scallops were extremely tender and succulent while the chips dipped with the sauce just melted in your mouth. The crispy crunchy crumb outside is an amazing combination with the creamy sauce. As for the mains, love the seafood ravioli with tomato sauce and the refreshing chicken salad. But the seafood pasta is definitely my favorite, calamari in the pasta were well-cooked and every mouthful of homemade pasta gives you a blast. (It might be a bit oily though) In general, I will definitely come here again:)
This was a cosy stop during our trip to the mornington peninsula. The waitress recommended the antipasto platter so we could have a small taste of everything and we loved it! It's a nice place for a catch up on a peaceful evening.
Great little restaurant, beautiful decor that provides a welcoming Italian warmth and atmosphere. A little noisy when busy with the high ceiling and balcony level but that is just being picky! Staff are lovely and professional and the antipasto selection was amazing!
First visit and will definitely be back! Had a seafood linguine that was just to die for. The staff provide amazing service and are so attentive. Gorgeous looking coffee machine, enjoyed a short black after our meal. Would highly recommend Manhattan!
Amazing food, atmosphere, drinks and service. One of the best restaurants on the Peninsula. Will definitely be returning to this restaurant soon!
Absolutely amazing place!! Everything about it was amazing. the food the service and the decor.
We went here for our anniversary and had the best night.
We ordered the bruschetta pizza , a gnocchi pasta, a salad and a salami pizza.
We also ordered a bottle of wine which the waiter gave us advise and a taste test of a few to decide which one we wanted.
When we ordered the waiter was very honest and told us he thought we had to much food however we wanted to splurge and still ordered everything .
He was right... we did have way to much but he told us he didn't want us to waste it and packed it up so we
Could take it home.
Everything we ordered was incredible but the bruschetta pizza was definitely a stand out and highly recommended.
Our waiter was very helpful so much so that when we left my partner thanked him for being such a good host for the night.
We will be back and I can not wait 😊
Had a wonderful night at the Manhattan John and the team made us feel very welcome - food was amazing, our overseas visitors said they would drive to Mornington just for the food next time they are back
I had lunch today at Manhattan in Mornington. I've been hearing quite a lot of good things about this place so I thought to check it out. The meatballs are fantastic!! The sauce has lots of flavour. Serving sizes are good as well.
My mum ordered the Fantasia. This was a curry pasta. This dish sounded very unique - I hadn't heard of a dish like this before. My mum was very happy with it.
My boyfriend had a salami pizza. He really liked it, he thought it was very well priced and very satisfying.
The customer service is good as well. My mum liked that they came up to the table and asked if we wanted pepper on our meals since she felt she doesn't see that happen much anymore in reasonably priced places.
We would definitely come back :)
Beautiful Restaurant hidden away in Mornington. I had the meatballs for entree and they were tasty and delicious. For our Main course we shared the Grigliate Mista, It was fantastic, beautifully cooked selection of meats, I would highly recommend it and more than enough for 2 people. I will definitely be back.
A delightful restaurant located on Barkly St in Mornington, 'Manhattan in Mornington' was a very pleasant surprise indeed. Upon entering, I was instantly impressed by the high ceilings and charming décor. We were lead to our table which was located upstairs in the 'loft' above the main dining area. The staff were polite, friendly and extremely attentive throughout the course of our meal. Highlights included the 'Polenta Fritta' (polenta chips) and the 'Squid Ink Pasta' (a delicious dish of squid ink spaghetti, calamari, chilli, oil and cherry tomatoes). Serving sizes were generous - not everyone at the table could finish their meal! The only concern we had was that not all the meals came out at once, but the delay was only a few minutes, so really that's just me being picky. Overall a fabulous meal had by all. A must-try when in Mornington!
A quality dinning experience with the exception of somewhat slow service. I have never been disappointed with my meals. If you don't mind being a bit patient, this place is worth it.
Great Food. Love this place. caught up with friends for a nice dinner. The service was fantastic. great atmosphere and food was worth every cent.
Just tried this place on the off chance, what a great choice, friendly and efficient staff and food made with care and love
Good food a little slow. Arrived on a busy monday night, staff were polite & friendly, food was too slow, arrived at 7.30pm & dinner was served at 9pm. Food was pretty good. Ordered a bottle of montepulciano that was $42, upon arriving home & checking the bill we were charged $60.
Service and food was good but on a warm night the restaurant is quite hot with the aircon not able to cope
This is a great place, good food (consistently) and staff really friendly nice environment good work guys, prices are fair as well , easy recommendation...
Different. Interesting flavour combinations, and in contrast to many chefs/restaurants, NOT over seasoned. If you have refined taste buds from keeping your salt, sugar, intake low, you will enjoy the subtlety of flavours and their combinations in many of the menu choices.
Some of the entree servings (bread based) are probably best shared (generous) so good to check serving size with waitress first.
Wines mainly local, good.
A little pricey, admittedly, but as a dining experience that's how it is sometimes - if you enjoy it you can say it was worth it.
It's OK. We took our daughter here for her 20th Birthday in April, food was nice, service Ok but wouldn't rave and a little pricey for what it was, very noisy too. Worth a try but wouldn't rush back
Been here a few times with my partner, must say the service was great, also there was a live band which were playing which cause a good atmosphere! Food was delicious as, I had a salami pizza (dough was awesome!) my girlfriend had garlic prawns which was also spot on, highly recommend!
Superior quality meals at really reasonable prices. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was fantastic! Highly recommend the tandoori pizza!
Had dinner at Manhattan in Mornington last night
Thank you to the attentive staff and the beautiful food , my partner and i had a lovely evening. So much attention to detail from the decor to the crockery and the of course to our meal . We had the tasting platter and eye fillet and then we shared a beautiful dessert mini tasting board . AmaZing thank you manhattan we will be back :))
Had a beautiful dinner. This place was buzzing , great staff .. Food and ambience were beautiful x
Wonderful dining experience! Food was delicious, the service was exceptional thanks to Mary. Def recommend to all!
I believe the new owners have improved this restaurant over the last 10 months immensely. Excellent food, coffee and friendly service. Cruisy live Music and interesting wine and beer choices. I highly recommend.
Lovely atmosphere. Great food and quality service. Highly recommend the mushroom risotto.
Obliging Customer Service. My boyfriend and I came to Mornington for a weekend getaway, and ended up at Manhattan for dinner after being turned away at 2 other places as it was already 9.30pm and apparently kitchen closes early in a quiet town even though it was a weekend.
At first we were told by the waitress that the kitchen was closed, but what could 2 starving tourists do? We decided to go somewhere else to see what was available but then the waitress came back to us and said she felt sorry for us, and had asked the kitchen if they could whip up something for us. How nice of her! We ended up eating there, and the food was pretty good, customer service was quick and friendly, and they had a live singer which enhanced the atmosphere.
Very happy experience, and grateful that the waitress had gone the extra mile to help us. Not sure what's with all the negative reviews, but I'd say give this place a chance :)
Really lovely, 6 of us ate last night and all really enjoyed our meals, the staff were friendly and on the ball, live music was nice, the only minor niggle was we were right next to the music and it was a little loud. Would recommend and return
Mornington's best!. WOW, I really do not understand the negative reviews! I live locally and Manhattan is a regular haunt since it opened. I take visitors there, I go with the girls for lunch, the occasional business meeting over coffee and have had a few great nights there as well.
On my most recent visit I took a few friends along from Melbourne and had such a good I night. They loved the venue and the italian inspired menu and we couldn't help but share and taste my companions meals! We had a variety of entrées to share including the Scollops, the Mussels and a Bruschetta pizza, (thin crust, so good) which our waitress recommended. A good wine list with some nice italian varietals to try were also great and not that expensive.
The service was friendly and quick, not over the top so you can relax in the space.
I had the Rib Eye of the main menu which was cooked perfectly, a good quality peice of meat as well. Impressive. We shared a manhattan salad during our main meals and my companions raved about their meals as well which included the Duck and Fantasia Gnocchi which we were told is home made.
We only had room to share a couple of desserts, too many to choose from by the way.
Thanks to the Manhattan team for a great night, we will be back!
Excellent service & good food we really enjoyed dinner last night will go back again soon.
6 of us enjoyed a beautiful dinner last night. Mediterranean mushroom on bed of white bean mash was gorgeous. Barramundi was amazing. Lovely waitress. Nice decor although way too bright...need dimmers, to create softer ambience.
Recommended for a nice dinner. Relatively new restaurant. Nice fit out and the waiters are friendly and attentive. The food is great. Have the muscles to share as an entre. The fish ofthe day and the duck were full of flavour. Sure the process area bit on the expensive side but this is in keeping with the good and ambience. Good for a special occasion.
Great Italian Food finally in Mornington... We visited Manhatten for a birthday dinner and we were very impressed. Great service and the food was fantastic and there was plenty of it! The place was full and bookings would be a good idea to ensure a table. We had the house dips and bread plus some warm olives for starters, all very good indeed..This was followed up with a few pizzas and two pasta dishes which we could not fault. Its lovely to find great italian food in Mornington, without the rude obnoxious behaviour you get if you dare to visit DOC. Well done manhattan, we will certainly be back!!!
