Review Sakura Sushi Mornington - Mornington

The environment is clean and the outfield staff is friendly. However, the food is very general, not delicious, the chef's attitude towards food is very bad, from my photos can be seen, the rice on the rice is casually dug, and not flat! Japanese food is exquisite, eat also to be pleasing to the eye! If that's the case, it's really bad! Please take responsibility for japanese food, Please improve!

nice japanese food with a very competitive price but no compromise on flavors! overall a great place

Paid $65 and was very excited for a lockdown sushi feed but was disappointed in the size. Some of the sashimi was too tough to eat. First sushi since having a baby and was a shame.

Authentic Japanese feast enjoyed by all

The best food, have to have the eggplant Nasu, it will blow your mind. So good, highly recommend.

Authentic Japanese food. It’s great to have a local place with such quality food. We’ve become regulars here and often get takeaway but eating is excellent too. Great value on the Bento Box and we’ve never had any trouble ordering. Staff are super friendly. It’s worth calling ahead and making sure they’re open

Dropped in for dinner. Sushi was amazing, beers were cold and the service was great.

Ordered through Uber eats, came very fast, but I was very unhappy with the results, soggy food, small portions, overpriced.

Ordered takeaway bento boxes. The miso soup was cold and perhaps that was due to the packaging. But a quick microwave and it was warm again. The serving sizes of the proteins in the bentos differed (the chicken was larger than the salmon by a lot). Taste wise nothing was wrong just portions could be bigger.

Always amazing. Our go to restaurant we visit at least once a week or fortnight! The food here is incredibly fresh and delicious, and the service is always warm and welcoming.

Have been eating here for well over a year now. Introduced many friends to it and am a regular. My favourite restaurant in mornington. So well priced. Whilst it may not look like a 5 star restaurant on the outside it is just as good if not better than high class japanese restaurants in Melbourne. Cannot go wrong with a single thing on the menu however if you want something that gives you a try of several dishes I would highly recommend the bento boxes. For less than $20 you are served miso soup, sashimi, salad, rice, tempura, spring roll, Gyoza(dumplings) and a teriyaki of your chosen meat. Best value and best japanese in mornington peninsula!

Great selection on the menu, the food was all reasonably tasty. The sashimi platter and spring rolls were enjoyable, the chicken don I thoroughly enjoyed although the sauce was missing something. The service from the young girl was good but the service from the restaurant owners?/colleagues was abrupt.

What a find! We had the California Roll, Potato Croquettes, Deep Fried Oysters and Nasu. Usually a purist with raw oysters but i actually really enjoyed the fried ones they were very fresh and the crumb wasn't heavy at all. The fried potato croquettes were soft and light and the miso sauce on the nasu was great. The california roll was fresh and tasty you could definitely tell the crab was fresh. Will be back next time we are in town!

I dont rate restaurants very often,  (I don't have time, but i've made the time for this place)..., this place deserves to be heard about and get great feedback to make sure it stays on Main St Mornington.  Its not the only Japanese joint in town, but definitely the best.  If your looking for high class, fine dinning, this is the wrong place for you, but if your looking for quality, authentic, the best japanese food on the Peninsula, well, i don't think you can pass on this place.   We'll be back, regularly.

Visited Sakura today for a birthday lunch with my partner and was not disappointed. We ordered the sashimi, soft shell crab maki and the tatsuta age don and were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is simple and the price is very reasonable. Our meal was fresh and full of flavour! We had been visiting kazu for our Japanese food fix but I just think we found a new favourite here.

Not many sushi options in Mornington (or the peninsula). OK sushi but not the best sushi. Does the job but could be fresher and a bit more variety.

Not excellent. Cheap and fairly quick.  Had no idea what Umeshu was.  Tatsu age was chicken balls with cheese inside: not authentic.  Beef tataki was bland and couldn't finish even half of it.  My Salmon and rice was lovely and a generous amount of Salmon for $13.  Seems to be popular for local workers grabbing a quick lunch.

Cannot believe people have rated this so low! One of the best places I have ever eaten at for the price hands down! Must be Zomato users or something because they have between 4.5 and 5 stars everywhere else. I give them five stars for service and five stars for food. Overall value for money you can't get any better. I got a cold sake which we shared between two, a beer and the medium sashimi, partner got the platter (forget the name in Japanese) and the miso soup, daughter ordered the ramen noodle soup and gyoza and my mother in law chose some sort of fried vegetable and chicken dish. All of them where 5/5. No complaints. Service was impeccable. The waiter was constantly aware, never in our face, all I had to do was look up, make eye contact and he was over.

Want to have some light lunch meals, pop into Sakura sushi, small little shopfront, but sushi and meals are quite fresh and nice! Would recommend to friends who visit Mornington peninsula wants quick fresh Japanese lunch! Nice little hidden gem! Plus don't know why, it's quite cheap here, should be $ or $$ rather than $$$

Lovely staff and beautiful & reasonably priced Japanese food. Definitely check it out if you're in Mornington. Would recommend the Katsu Don.

Best place in Mornington for awesome food at an awesome price with awesome service!. We discovered Sakura Sushi a few months ago, and have been regulars ever since. Their menu is amazing - so much variety - with dishes to suit all tastes and budgets. The food is always tasty and fresh, with very generous portions served by cheerful, friendly staff. We are slowly working our way through the food menu, and will have to start on the extensive sake menu. Highly recommended!

Wow really enjoyed our meal here. Lots to eat $40 for 2 (no drinks). Entrees $3 - $12, mains $10-$20. Food fresh, delicious, huge menu, service excellent. Loved the tempura asparagus & okra! We will be back.

Wow, I can't believe this amazing restaurant is in the $$$ bracket. So doesn't deserve to be rated that high. This place ROCKS. Bento boxes for under $20... Mains around $12... Food is great. We spend over $150 for 2 of us down the road at the other Japanese place. This place 3 of us under $60 with beers... We'll be back. In fact we do, weekly. Do yourselves a favour & enjoy Sakura. The menu is huge, food great, alcohol cheap..what more can I say.
