We had hot drinks and sweets here after dinner up the road. There was a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, the option to have shisha has been removed.
This is tucked away in Mornington very unassuming in decor from the outside, but wow it's amazing when you get inside. The food is delicious, the service is pleasant. Highly recommend eating here.
Fantastic food in surroundings that whisk you away to a foreign land! Tasty if you like something exotic but not spicy. Family friendly and accomodating.
I went with a few friends last night. The menu was limited so 3 out of 4 went for the same traditional rice dish. Very tasty, filling and well presented. Service was okay. Place was not overly crowded for a Sunday night.
One of the more expensive dinner options in Mornington however has been well worth the money both times I've been.
Food so tasty it's far too easy to over eat. Staff pleasant and attentive.

Such amazing food and different from anything else that I've eaten. This place makes you feel like you are in the Middle East and the food is full of spices and amazing flavours. I highly recommend here if you enjoy a little bit of spice.

Dear Fellow Foodies - I write to you from the lethargic depths of the most satisfying of food comas! I CAN'T RATE THIS PLACE HIGH ENOUGH!!!! There needs to be bonus stars for these rare finds!!!! I don't even know where to begin. We didn't have a booking but the bubbly waitress phoned us as soon as a table was available . I haven't stopped smiling since I arrived! The staff were incredible! Couldn't have been more obliging, even met two of the chefs and they were equally delightful!
I had never had an opportunity to try Afghani food before so I wanted to sample a variety! We ordered the mixed entree, kabuli palow, asshak, Nan breads, tomato salad and spicy capsicum / Mint yogurt accompaniments .
Mixed entree was a great idea ! We got to sample several things and it was all fantastic!
Kabuli palow we ordered with meat and it was similar to a biriani. Amazing flavour . Perfectly tender meat. Definitely the star dish! Don't come here without ordering this!!!
Asshak we had with the meat sauce and it was also super yummy! Very unexpected dish. Reminiscent of a spinach ravioli?!
Tomato salad was very fresh and really lifted both the main dishes.
Nan was more like Turkish bread if you ask me buy married perfectly with the whole lot.
Accompaniment condiments were tasty but definitely not needed as all the dishes were so flavoursome and not at all dry on their own!!
Sadly (although not surprisingly) we were too full to finish with dessert. Instead we are now hanging out in the coolest little hangout they have set up out the back, smoking sheesha while lounging around on tapestry and cushions! I'm in heaven!
I will absolutely be back even though it's such a ways out of Melbourne (not to mention my hometown Albury)

Items as I'd have liked, but the food is unusual and packed with flavour. The service was quick and the decor in the restaurant is fun, Interesting and authentic. I'll definitely be back!
Great food. Extremely helpful and happy staff. Great alternative to Indian. Better in my opinion. Had the set menu for 2. Munto were great. All meats were tender and flavoursome.
Great food and atmosphere. I have dined here twice in a month and both times everything has been top notch! The spring lamb cutlets are to die for.

Best restaurant in Mornington!. There is never a day when I don't want to eat here!!! This is a top restaurant on mainstreet that is open for dinner from 6pm Monday-Sunday.
The decor inside is simply breathtaking when you walk in! As for the food the Munto as an entree is great to share and for mains try the Kabuli Palow! Also, make sure you book in advance because they are always a full house!
Real Afghan food in Mornington. Marco Polo has been in Mornington forever. Try it for something a bit different.

Great atmosphere and delicious food. We went here on cup day for dinner after leaving two other restaurants in the area for being too crowded and running out of food. The waiter was very friendly, the food was beautiful and we loved the vibe of the place, especially the music. We had to wait a while for the food to come out but it was well worth it. Better than any other Afghan restaurant we have been to in the past. So glad we found the place!
Great food, though slightly overpriced. Friendly staff. Gets very busy so book or get there early!

Review. The "Afghan national dish" I had was really tasty. Tender lamb scattered through basmati rice, with sultanas and almonds on top and a single piece of eggplant on the side. The side dish of potatoes and chick peas came in a tasty, tangy herb dressing. Not bad at all. The serves were quite big, although since the main ingredient is rice I hope they can afford to be.
Having never eaten Afghan food before this was a first and I must say it was truly amazing! From the service provided by Abduhl as soon as we walked in the door to the best food that we have had in a long time, this place is fantastic. Everyone must try this if they are in the area, AMAZING food!!! Also there was live music, which made the whole atmosphere perfect!

Awesome. I love this style of food, simple, flavoursome & authentic. Meats slowed cooked and so tender and obviously freshly prepared. Friendly service, was Wednesday night so not packed but regulars coming and going. Will be back for sure. Great decor and foyer with petit desserts displayed, Moroccan style goods, tiles, bowls etc for sale. Really pretty. Well done!!
Love this restaurant. Have been here many times, the food is always great, the service friendly and the atmosphere is a lively and different. It has always been busy no matter what night i have gone but that just adds to the atmosphere

Don't Be Put Off!. On entering this restaurant it feels like you are going into someones house, the decor is definately not modern chic or minimilist but it is welcoming and warm and the food is lovely! The garlic bread is wonderful and the atmosphere lovely. A great night is had every time! Introduced loads of people here and had no bad reports so far.

Great food, great service, great ambiance!. We really enjoy going along to Afghan Marco Polo. The staff are really friendly and accommodating, the food is exceptionally well priced for the quality and you feel as though you can sit at your table as long as you like without being rushed out.
The first time we ate here we called ahead and they could just squeeze us in, so make a reservation in advance. The tables are relatively close together but the waitresses manage it quite well so you don't feel in the way or like it is crowded. It is really buzzing in this place too, there is a lot of atmosphere. The walls are covered in pictures from Afghanistan and you forget very quickly that there is a war ravaging in what is a truly spectacular country. This is not a place to feel sorry for Afghanistan but to celebrate it!
The two times I have been I have had consistently good quality food. For the entree I love the eggplant and we have a bread style entree to compliment. For the mains I have the vegetarian options as I don't eat red meat or chicken anymore. We also have had the traditional Afghan desert which is sickeningly sweet but oh so delicious. It is BYO but if you forget they sell carafe's of wine for about $12.
The meals are HUGE, wear loose pants!!
The prices here are great too. Our first visit we had 2 entrees, 2 mains, 1 desert and 2 carafe's of red wine and it came to a total of $90. I would happily pay a little more for the quality of this food, the quality of service and sheer enjoyment that is a night at Afghan Marco Polo!!
Once again we had an amazing dinner last night. Fantastic service, great value and above all the food was as always out of this world! A little gem in Mornington for sure.

Munto, munto, MUNTO!!!. Come here for the food - it is exceptional. Yes it's not as cheap as its Asian counterparts; mains are a few dollars more - but it is definitely on par with its quality. The tasting plate entree is a nice starter, and the munto is exquisite. I'd stick to eating in, rather than the takeaway option. The food is better when it's served in-house.
Wasn't expecting too much after reading reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. Our meals were all delicious especially the Kabuli Palow with lamb, and the munto. It was a hot night and we drank a traditional refreshing yoghurt drink. It was almost full and service was excellent. We took Afghani friends with us who were also impressed.
Delicious and expensive. Splendid food, try the munto. Portions could be bigger, and the prices are pretty painful, especially if you're just getting takeaway. Would come here much more often if the mains were a few bucks cheaper.

Never lets you down. It been in Mornington forever. Everytime I go there the food is lovely and consistant. The menu never changes - or the decor - but if you can accept it for what it is, you'll enjoy it. The Munto is especially delicious!
