Review Thanks Albert Burger Company - Mornington

Shaun Ewe
Five star takeaway experience. We didn’t manage to try the burgers but we had the buttermilk fried chicken, sweet potato chips and onion rings takeaway to enjoy the Mornington sunset. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection which we thoroughly enjoyed. The restaurant had a good setting and staff were friendly and helpful. They have clean toilets at the back. Wish we had this to enjoy in Melbourne. Thanks Albert, for the great meal.

Really good burgers, big and tasty. Poutine fries were perfect. Good service however a little bit more attention could be given to customers. However staff were friendly. Umbrellas outside would be fantastic if possible.

Really enjoyed myself here with my wife enjoying a good decent, well priced and tasty hamburger. We ordered The Atom and Elbarto with sweet potato fries on the side. Drinks were a Lemon, lime and bitters and a schooner of Mornington Peninsula Brewery Pale Ale. The service was friendly and attentive, very clean throughout with cool decor and the prices fair. But the choice of music of playing 70s disco was somewhat different, but not annoying. I preferred that, than listening to chatter of other people's conversation. Worth coming back too.

Service was seriously great, food was excellent just what we were after a great burger 🍔. There is a cool beer garden area out the back and plenty of seating out the front.

I was really excited to have the fries poutine because I absolutely loved this when I was in Canada. I have to say, it was a bit disappointing. The gravy was ok and instead of grated cheese, there was chunks thrown on top and under the fries. The burger was good, nothing super exciting. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Great burgers and bbq. Portion is huge! Gotta wait for table during busy hours. They also have crazy shakes which was very sweet and super filling before getting to meal. Must try onion rings!

Good sized meal and chips were perfect. Just a bit of criticism, the burger party was a little bit dry. If the patty was more moist, would have definitely been a 5 star meal. Also their pilsner on tap there was excellent.

We ordered "the Albert" and "simply the breast". The Albert is your classic beef burger, with cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, but the beef was very delicious. Not dry and not over seasoned. Simply the breast is a Southern fried chicken burger with bacon, and the burger had a smokey flavour to it. Definitely rate this burger! All burgers come with fries which may be good for some customers, but personally I was fine without fries. This inflexibility does make the meals more expensive than the YOMG next door, so taking away one star.

Went for a drive to Mornington with my foodie bff with no real set plans on where we wanted to eat. Knowing it was Father's day we expected a lot of venues to have bookings only or you sitting on the lap of the person next to you.

After working pass Thanks Albert, our mouths watered and noticed there was some seating for two inside. We were politely greeted and walked in as I tried to eyeball what other patrons were downing, for ordering inspiration.

The interior and décor was really funky and was playing some killer beats which always adds points to the ambience experience, and the other diners all really seemed to be happy. Ordered at the bar, which works smoothly in an establishment like this.

Starving we both or ordered 'The Albert'- a no frills, no fuss and no regrets burger with a juicy beef patty, DOUBLE cheeeeezz, lettuce, tom, red onion and pickles. Just the right amount of sauce going on, and really enjoyed the bun, a seeded brioche and it wasn't as sweet as many burger joints these day. I think this is literally the first time of MANY we ordered the same thing, we usually sample or split or meals.

We also shared some sweet potato fries which were great and a real highlight was the collection of various complimentary hot sauces, which I may or may not have taken to far.

Eftpos was down however it's located near atm's, these things happen, and the staff were completely polite and professional about the issue, so no points lost from me. Hope to come back to try well everything on the menu and a great excuse to visit the Peninsula. Excellent work team, especially on an exceptionally busy day of the year! :)

Really like the Burgers at Thanks Albert. Good selection of Beer.

After craving a good burger fix we took a lovely Sunday drive to Main Street Mornington and discovered Thanks Albert! Just what we needed. Super sized, delicious and good value. We both enjoyed the Atom burger which was basically a super sized burger with the lot. Almost too much for me but I ate it all the same. Great flavours and very generous.

Very tasty burgers and staff were all wearing nice smiles! There is also a nice small yard in the back that looks cozy. A pleasant surprise we got here!

Restaurant was very busy and the people working did their best to accomodate us. Very friendly.

Had the brisket burger and partner ordered the double cheese burger; both were very nice. Our kids had fries and these were very nice.

We will definitely be back.

A burger place with a difference. Have been to a few themed burger outlets or establishments over the years. This one comes across leaning towards more of a restaurant. Not sure something missing here with the ambience. Burger places are meant to be noisy jukebox music pumping (Happy Days inspired). Guess I am showing my age.
The food is good No wow factor though... plenty of completion along this restaurant strip with Yo My Goodness setting the bar for burgers.
The service was excellent. Give Thanks Albert a go and some constructive feed back. I just have this feeling something is missing.

Burgers. That was the request on that Wintery day in mid-June. All Hubbie wanted was a burger. It wasn’t to be a fancy restaurant, a tapas-style menu, or zujjed up Italian-American style comfort food –. We had already been to YOMG a while back. We had eaten it – takeaway at home – and since the experience had not been IN the restaurant, is why I didn’t write a blog post about it. When I was done eating it, I didn’t wanna waste my time writing...

Did they change management? The menu changed a bit, food came out super slow. Super oily salty onion rings with raw batter inside and $16 fish and chips quality calamari rings that are still connected?with rotten salad leaves? What happened?! I wish I can rate negative stars
Dee
We ordered the “Thanks Albert” Burger with gluten-free bun. It had a delightful taste due to the accompanied thick and perfectly melted cheese. We also had chips with cheddar cheese and butter-chicken strips. The cheddar added a twist to the Chips which made the taste extra enjoyable and the well cooked chicken was served with Garlic dip which created a magical flavour.

Customer service was excellent, however the wait time was slightly longer than desired.
Poppy Martono
Great service n’ good staff. We went there after experiencing impolite service at Doc. Good variety of food from the meat platter, the calamari rings was wonderful. Definitely will go there again.

We went today right on 12. The staff lady who served us was wonderful. The food was quick tasty. I went a little overboard and ate way too much. The peppers were brilliant. Brisket wasn’t ready so we got more ribs. No complaints there either. I didn’t mind the cost $70 for meat plate and 2 wines.

No Thanks Albert!
Great location at the "Paris end" of Mornington, but the food is just not good enough especially at the prices being charged.
If you like overcooked sweet potato fries and tasteless burgers in a dry bun that's served at barely warmer than room temp, then this is the place to go.
I'm local, and won't be returning!
Matt Wildin
Staff exceptional, friendly & helpful. Food was delicious & fresh. The ambience was just right & accommodating for small & larger groups. If you like burgers well
Worth checking out !!

This is the place where the child's stomach seems bottomless. My go to burger was the beef brisket burger, looking at the menu it's no longer there? Surely a mistake. I hope. (Don't do this to me!)
I love a good pickle in my burger! And they do good ones!
The chicken burger is pretty good too. Certainly worth a wait if you don't get a table right away. Just read Albert's quotes while you wait.

Food: Very good - we had the jalapeño poppers, Thanks Albert Burger, Chilli Dog and Onion Rings. For drinks we had the vanilla and salted caramel milkshakes. All the food came out at once, but they were tasty.
Service: Very good - friendly staff with table service.
Ambience: Very good - small dining space, making it feel cosy.
Take away service available, if the place is full.

Awesome burgers, one of the best I've ever had. And as a bonus the venue is licensed so you can enjoy a cheeky Bev like we have 😉
A number of combinations available and no trouble at all in terms of modifying (add ons, take offs, GF bun etc). Haven't tried the burger place up the road but this one will take some beating.

Small little burger joint. Good burgers. Very tasty. Good ratio of ingredients. Ordered a side of onion rings. They were gigantic. Had this thick crispy batter.

Tried out Thanks Albert and it was... ok. The restaurant is a nice little space but was freezing cold. Service was friendly but meals took a long time to come out (it wasn't busy at all). Burger was fine, flavour-wise - not amazing but not offensive. The bun ruined it - tasted very stale. Chips were great - love a crinkle cut! The seasoning was delightfully spicy.

The nail in the coffin for me was when they uttered the words no one wants to hear - "Sorry, we don't split bills". It's 2017, come on. People don't carry cash. I don't return to places that don't split bills, it's a ridiculous policy. No thanks, Albert.
VeganFoodie
The vegan burgers are great. It would be good of they could include a vegan Burger with a bun that isn't gluten free.

Great service and lovely atmosphere. Love the music.

Being reasonably familiar with the Mornington strip, it seems there is a period of renaissance down the Main Street strip. Breaking the habit of going to DOC is difficult, but tonight I felt like trying Thanks Albert, whose burgers have been held in good regard for several months.

It is a nice looking, unassuming space, that is casual enough for families to dine comfortably, but also for a slightly more intimate setting too. There couldn’t be more than thirty seats inside, and outside tonight is out of the question, the autumn chill taking hold over this Easter break.

We are here for burgers, and I’ve always thought the best indication of quality comes from the house burger. If you are going to name a burger after the establishment, it better be one of the better choices. Also after simplicity, Catherine orders the Thanks Albert too, something we don’t often do. Chips are obligatory, of course.

Great customer service and great food! What more do you need! Highly recommend! The chicken burgers are the bomb! And the crazy shakes they make are absolute artistry!

Came to Mornington looking for a different restaurant but the allure of the funky name, the word "Smokehouse" and of course burgers, sucked me in. So glad I did. Got the poppers, onion rings, loaded fries and the Baconator. Poppers were the best I've ever had. Hands down. They were big, crunchy, full of cream cheese and spicy. Everything you want in jalapeño poppers. The onion rings were awesome. Salt and vinegar flavoured batter, little thin on the onion but overall, fantastic. The burger was great, not the best I've had but perhaps next time I'll order another pattie and extra cheese and we'll see if that makes a difference. The loaded fries were nothing to write home about at all. The cheese was clumped and not melted at all, the gravy was nice and the chip was average. Wouldn't get them again. Overall, poppers 5/5, rings 5/5, burger 4/5 and loaded fries 2/5 which brings food to around a 4/5. Service was fantastic and next time I'm going to try one of these $15 shakes that are more like a dessert. Well, my wife will, those shakes would probs kill me. Will be back!

Great little burger shop located in the Mornington. Service was lovely, the burger was yummy and their sweet potato fries are so good, best one I've had so far. Would definitely recommend this place!

Lovely atmosphere/decor, the Avogadro burger and chips were delicious - moist, crispy and tasty! The Aristotle burger with pulled lamb was really tasty but needed more greens ~ felt a bit queasy eating the whole thing.

This was our second visit and will definitely be back! :)

Great gluten free options. Ordered 'The Atom' with fries was amazing. Friendly staff that went through the menu with us. Great Service. 😊😊

Nice atmosphere and location, can get really busy and quite stuffy though. Burgers can sometimes be a hit or a miss depending on how busy they are, but when they're good, they're really good. The milkshakes are fantastic. Will probably be back on a quieter day
Simone
Barbecue meats were super soft and melt in your mouth. The tangy BBQ sauce that came on the plate was a perfect accompaniment. Sweet potato fries were crisp and addictive. Would recommend!

Groovy little burger place with an impressive menu.

Jalapeño Poppers for entree were very nice - perfect heat - but perhaps too much of the pepper skin was inside. As for the El' Berto & 'Yes I was' Vegetarian burgers, both were delicious & went down a treat. El' Berto's hot salami was a highlight. Not the easiest to eat though - fell apart as we ate!

Thanks Albert! Wouldn't hestitate to return 😊

Came here on recommendation. Firstly, the good...
The Avogadro chicken burger was quite possibly the best chicken burger I've ever had. Portions are huge and hearty - you won't leave hungry. The decor and science inspired themes are quirky and unique. I wish I could give this place a higher review, but there were some aspects I couldn't overlook. The onion rings we ordered were far too oily and undercooked. My partner's burger was subpar and almost bland, which was shocking given that mine was almost without fault. My milkshake was average, a little too milky. I'll be back to give Thanks Albert another try, because I'm sure I'll enjoy it more once I've tried other options on their menu!

Pulled lamb burger lacked flavour and was warm bordering cool. The food came out quite quick perhaps to suggest they just improperly reheated the lamb. Often in a restaurant you can smell food being cooked, not here. Loaded fries were overpriced and were not enjoyable. We walked out with a slight upset tummy. Five upset tummies to be exact.

This was my first eating experience in mornington it was very busy but i thought the service was excellent very quick and friendly i had the el berto burger now i love my spicy food so i thought it could be a little hotter but still it was a very tasty light to medium spice the only complaint i really have is the price of the side order of chips which was $7 for the smallest amount i have ever received ever plus they were frozen chips both straight and crinkle mixed up now don't get me wrong they were cooked to perfection with a nice aouli sauce but the seving size was a joke

In summary, thanks Albert was very disappointing. We visited after being told that the burgers here were great and I guess we were expecting a lot more from this place. The baconater was just okay and the simply the breast, despite having a super cute name, was quite bland. The burgers here were overpriced for what they were...they both lacked a lot of flavour and I think thanks Albert should invest in some new sauces/ toppings to give their burgers a kick. For burgers with real grunt you should visit Southside social in Frankston.

Tasty burgers on another day trip to the coast. There is a bit of burger competition happening down at mornington but I was happy with my choice. The sweet potato chips are killer, especially when you combine the crunchiness with a side of chipotle mayo. The burger was also done well, i enjoyed the texture of the vege pattie which is sometimes not the case.

What a great place , have known about it for a while and finally came to try it out tonight and definitely weren't disappointed . Service was friendly and food was on our table super fast , even considering they were quite busy . Food was amazing the 6 people in our group all agreeing . Will definitely be back , thanks guys

Tasty burgers on the main drag of Mornington. As with most good food outlets in Mornington busy busy so book ahead. The quality of the burgers were fresh ingredients however the prices were a little heavy for a burger joint. Inside it's very trendy and more of a restaurant vibe

Loved our dinner here - we wanted burgers but something a little different. The place is Einstein-inspired and the menu could be classified as American diner-style with an impressive range of non-burger items as well. The place was packed but had a reasonably quick turnover so we got a table very quickly. The burgers we had were huge and very filling - we had a burger each and a serve of onion rings, which were delicious and each individually the size of a small doughnut. The dessert menu looked amazing but we will have to investigate another time, as we'll definitely be back. The only critique would be that the Spudnik burger could have had more mustard or reslish to give it more of a tang to offset the heaviness of the meat, bacon and potato rosti but it was still delicious.
The_man_from_me
Not the best but certainly not the worst. Fries were also pretty average. In terms of the burger, the bun could be better and the meat itself could be tastier.

Brilliant place! Burgers were really great, buns a tad sweet but the fillings were fresh and generous. Love the open kitchen so you can actually see your food getting cooked in front of you! We ordered the chicken with Brie and the fish burger, both with great flavours, well balanced with nothing over powering. Sweet potato fries were brilliant, I would come again just for them! And the dessert shake was great too, a tad on the pricey side but a really decent shake and donut on top was fresh, the syrup on our shake however tasted of banana not caramel which was a bit odd? A little seating area so took us a while to get a table, but all in all a great experience :)

Not impressed. Been there three times and found the patty so full of gristle every time. Pretty average compared to most places you find in the city, will look forward to another burger place opening in Mornington.

Nice place and I had one of the best burgers in the area,I tried burgers and shakes, if you are after quality burgers in that area try it out.

In terms of a traditional burger (the thanks Albert), might be the best you can find in the state! Chips are very good too.Beer choices were insanely good as well.
Chickenocave
Excellent burgers! I had the baconator and onion rings. Both were absolutely delicious. Will definitely be recommending to family and friends. Enjoyed the atmosphere but there isn't a wide range of seating for large groups. Overall very positive experience. Look forward to coming back
Nikki
We tried this place a few weeks ago. Very tasty, very big burgers cooked fresh to order. Wasn't a big fan of the chips but I really enjoyed my burger.
Caroline Beaney
I used to be a huge fan of Thanks Albert but unfortunately their burger quality has declined since 2016. I dined here in December 2018 and I was disappointed to see how things had changed. I ordered the Thanks Albert burger. Beef pattie was over cooked and dry. The burger itself didn’t have much taste since it was over reliant with the aioli to provide the flavour and the aioli was just plain and tasteless. My mum had a chicken burger and she found her chicken to be dry as well.

On the positive, their fries are tasty and the jalapeño poppers were spicy and wonderful and full of flavour but the burgers are no longer the highlight of Thanks Albert.
Amanda Buckingham
Best burgers in Mornington, well done Cam and Jill! Look forward to working my way through the entire menu, given it a good crack so far! My fave so far is the "thanks Albert" and the vegetarian option is tasty even for a non vego ;)

All that needs to be said is... GREAT BURGERS! Love a good burger and found this place by chance and will definitely recommend and will make the effort to go back.
Danny
We just ate here, had the Jane-o burger and Elberto with a large side of chips. The burgers were delicious, I like the meat and sauce and found the salami a nice alternative to bacon, it really adds some flavour and I'm told the Jane'o was great, fresh and tasty with nice ingredients. The cheese suits these burgers perfectly it's spot on and the chips where delicious with the spices and cooked just right. The size of the burgers is pretty decent for the money and we weren't left hungry after eating 2 burgers and a large chips between us.

The staff were friendly and fast, what more do you need from a burger joint?

Sergio
Average at best!!! Veg burger my wife had was all bread with a little salad and to much sauce. Mine was all BBQ sauce, could barley taste anything else
Cinnamon's Food For Thought
Ahhhhhmazing burgers and don't even get me started on how delicious the sweet potato fries were!! Once my friends and i finished our meals we wanted to do it all over again!!
The Inner Fat Kid
I really enjoyed my burger! Our whole group did! Delicious, fresh ingredients and a great vibe! I was a little underwhelmed with the sweet potato chips, but in saying that they were still nice. Will definitely go back!
Polka
Tasty burgers. Had the el'berto (spicy burger) - lightly spiced, good flavours. Nice fit out, can see burgers being cooked fresh behind the counter. Yum, will go again!
Sophie Ricca
Terrible service, so slow
Both mine and my husband's burgers where nearly inedible because the meat was so undercooked
our sweet potato wedges were still raw inside, solid as a rock, only cooked on the outside Way too overpriced for the quality
