Review East Coast Lounge Chowder Bay - Mosman

Trish Touring
Beautiful cafe / restaurant overlooking Sydney Harbour at Chowder Bay. We had coffee & a delicious brownie & I’ll definitely be back for lunch or dinner (or both). Nice & quiet - even though it was busy. You can even do some knitting whilst waiting - if you can take your eyes off the lovely view.

The place is just beautiful, location and decoration are just what you want for a calming breakfast. we had the avo on toast and the handmade crumpet, the portions are very generous and it was delicious specially the crumpet. we love our morning there. staff is very friendly and professional too. thanks you!!!

Palm beach, St Barts, The Hamptons, St Tropez: all places that would come to mind when you walk inside this little cottage. Although out in Chowder Bay, on Sydney Harbour, the styling may feel like you are in a far away location. But why you would need to be, when you have such a beautiful outlook on our own shores. Take a seat by the window for your brunch and watch the ferries drive past, or simply take in our lovey harbour. This part café/part high tea function space/gift shop features a fire place, couches, small and group tables. You can dine here for breakfast or brunch with a friend, or you can book a group lunch or high tea for around 60 guests for a birthday, high tea or similar. There is a welcoming looking space in the middle of the room by the fireplace, perfect to enjoy that cup of tea with friends. We were here in the late afternoon and decided to share a charcutterie board, featuring a variety of meats: salami and pastrami with lavosh crackers, taramasalata, olives and two cheeses of our choosing. We went for the triple brie and truffle pecorino. Certainly a generous serving. We also got and crispy baguette breads warm and flavoursome Sobrassada Jar. You can also purchase toasties, muesli, Ploughman's Plates and more! This went perfectly with a glass of bubbles (prosecco) and a “Dad and Dave’s Pale ale”. They like to stock all Australian boutique beers. There’s a great range of wines to select from. Or, you can also order coffees teas. They sell soaps, books, candles, hand creams, trinkets, jewellery, blankets and more to take a little gift home for mum, your nan (or yourself!). You can get a water-taxi here, bus or your own private vehicle, about 15 minutes from the Sydney CBD. Thanks to the lovely staff, in particular the owners Jennifer and Chris for a great visit.

Fancy place, fancy views, fancy food and fancy prices ($21 for a toastie!) -- but worth it for a bit of a splurge. Even typical cafe fare like smashed avo and ploughman's lunches use top-north ingredients and have a bit of a twist with a sprinkle of dukkah here and a spray of poached cherry tomatoes there.

A slice of the Hamptons in Sydney. From the picture postcard whitewashed building overlooking the sea to the blue swimmer crab roll, close your eyes and you could be in Montauk. Excellent food from an ever growing menu, and you have the perfect day.

A very nice place to have a high tea. Good interior, great view, and fantastic selections.

Randomly stumbled upon this hidden gem. Probably my favourite hide away cafe/restaurant ever. wrote an article on the restaurant on Wechat and received so many positive comments from people that they would love to visit. One of my best friend was so impressed, she hosted her birthday there. we had the entire room for ourselves for hightea. The staff is so helpful and friendly, food is delicious and the stunning view of the ocean outside the window is nothing to compare with. Highly highly recommend if you are paying a visit at Mosman.

Had breakfast on a Sunday morning - food was alright. Coffee was badly made (flat whites had no foam). But the most shocking part was the service. Coffees and food took very long. The waiters were rude - when we asked for the coffee to be remade (with foam) the waiter came back and dropped it on our table, spilling it everywhere and stormed off. We told the other waiter about our experience and he explained that the particular waiter was having a “hard time” and that clearly “some people understand hard times better than others”. No manager in sight and so I guess then the customer doesn’t come first.

It's a beautiful place in an amazing location. I love the setting and the views. It's the perfect place to chill out and catch up with family and/or friends. We got a table near the window and had awesome views. The food is good but a bit overpriced. We all got the crab roll which was tasty but not very filling. I guess you pay for the views!

✨ East Coast Lounge✨
Before I begin, I must say that this place is more about the atmosphere than the food. Don’t get me wrong though, the food was quite nice but the interior of the restaurant will just blow you away. Sitting on the cosy couch in front of the fireplace and looking out the window to enjoy the spectacular harbour view……..Best way to enjoy your Saturday brunch.
.
🍽️ Toasties 🍽️
How can you ever go wrong with toasties? We ordered the leg Ham (with gruyere and rocket) and wagyu beef (with tomato relish, gruyere and Spanish onion). I personally enjoyed the former one more, however, both of them were a bit salty. I believe the key to a great toasty is the cheese they use, in this instance, the gruyere was a great match!
Taste:❤️❤️❤️❤️💔
.
🍽️ Avo Smash on Sourdough 🍽️
This dish was a bit average. Literally just tasted like salt and pepper seasoned avocado smash. Very easy to make even at home.
Taste:❤️❤️❤️💔
.
🍽️Crab Roll 🍽️ with slaw and aioli on a milk Bun
I love milk bun! Honestly, I think all dishes with sourdough should be changed into milk bun. Hmm? What about the crab roll you say?
Taste:❤️❤️❤️💔
.
🍽️Smoked Salmon 🍽️ with Red Onion, Capers and Whipped Cream Cheese with Sourdough Toast
Another dish with sourdough…..I mean salmon! The smoked salmon was full of flavours and tasted good with the rest of the food, but really, nothing out of the ordinary here.
Taste:❤️❤️❤️💔
.
🍽️Kids’ Grazing Plate🍽️ Ham and Cheese Fingers, Fruit Pieces and Popcorn
Cute little dish with popcorn which the kids will surely adorn.
Taste:❤️❤️❤️💔
.
Price:💲💲💲
(AVG. 30pp for dinner) .
.
📍7b Chowder Bay Road, Mosman, Sydney
.
⏳Mon-Sun:9am–5pm
.
✏️ Great place for hens, baby shower and girl’s gatherings. They have a private dining room available.

Must admit this could be my favourite Mosman dining destination! So many fantastic bush walks nearby to work up an appetite before coming here for sustenance and comfort. Every time I visit I start imagining how I am going to section off the room at the front and turn it into my bedroom. I won't have to change a thing! Beautiful interiors with a relaxed, elegant vibe! The menu is also refreshingly simple, yet effective and satisfying. On my last visit I came with a friend for lunch and we shared a Ploughman's Board with assorted meats, pickled vegetables and cheeses. This was absolutely ideal with a glass of champagne on a lovely summer's day! They also offer a cheese matching menu where you can choose your cheese then your matching beer, wine or cider. Did I mention breakfast is also delightful here as you get in touch with the beautiful bush reserve and Sydney Harbour. So good!

Amazing location and beautiful interior the food was good but overpriced. However it's perfect for get togethers and can seat large families, you have to walk to get there though

Fabulous food and wine with spectacular Harbour views! You can even buy gifts and homewares. I found some great Australian products to send to my family at home in Brazil. For me one of the best spots in Sydney.

I feel right at home at Easy Lane and want to say a big thank you to Christine, Jennifer and their team for such wonderful service and hospitality. The journey to East Coast Lounge from Western Sydney is a long one but definitely worth the trip thanks to the incredible food, wonderful service and stunning location.

Read my full review on my blog here: brendonthesmilingchef.com/2017/03/06/east-coast-lounge-mosman/

Follow @brendonthesmilingchef on Instagram.

Food is good, fresh and tasty. Service was far too casual though! I had to catch the young man's eye to take our order even though was was standing behind the counter. C'mon people! Do better.

They have one of the best coffee I have ever try. Mini burger is the must have. Love Jackson bay's view from the external and sweet home decoration from the internal.
