Review Tran's Restaurant - Mosman

First dine in at Tran's after years and years of passing by. Modern Vietnamese cuisine and we all love the vibes. Food is good, found some of the dishes a bit over-priced like brown rice buddha. Scallops is nothing like a photo on the website. Love duck pancakes and fish curry. 6 of us spent $350+ young girl with glasses provided a good service.

Truly special. French Vietnamese food with a wonderful combination of flavours. Save room for desert. The sticky rice is unmissable

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I am severely celiac, I asked the wait staff on three separate occasions to confirm what I was going to order was gluten free, at my first bite I just had a feeling the garnishing sauce on my dish wasn’t gluten free for the fourth time when leaving the restaurant as I began to feel sick just wanted to confirm once more this time specifically asking if the garnishing sauce was gluten free and as expected it was not, was sick for the next week!

We ate at Trans in 2020 and returned again in 2021 with another couple. The food was good although expensive for what it is. We had booked a table via The Fork for a discount to be applied. When the bill came we said that the discount hadn't been applied. We were told that the discount does not apply on Saturdays. I said it is Friday. She said oh, and on Fridays. Our booking did say a discount would apply and was confirmed by Tran's several days before we arrived. Anyway, she refused to apply the $60 discount. We don't like being deceived or lied to so we and our friends won't be back. Tran's has lost our custom and any referrals from us.

Yummy food, warm, friendly service, quiet ambience. A lovely, family-style dinner out. Enjoyed it very much.

You can't beat Trans for lean, healthy and delicious food. Trans gets five stars from us. Lana puts her heart and soul into the food/restaurant and it shows. Let's support this gem during covid so we don't lose it. They do takeaway (it's better to pick up yourself so the profits go to Trans) or stay and enjoy the ambience. We had the delicious cauliflower with truffle last night - a real treat.

Over-priced with average service. The food was good, but it's possible to find good food for much less money, even in Mosman. $5/head for corkage when there's no wine list as another option is steep (and strange!) and $9 for homemade Brita water sparkling water in reusable bottle is extortionate!! Mismatching glassware and crockery, worth missing cutlery might be quirky in another setting, but here it just confirmed the feeling of being over-charged for what was on offer.

Stumbled across this little gem while looking for a bite while in the area and so glad we did! The food was amazing, authentic and fresh and the girls serving were so attentive and lovely. Also, their desserts are a must try!! The special black truffle and honey ice cream is one of the best things I've tried.

Terrible portions of food.

Most of the dishes were overflowing with vegetables and selfish portions of beef or chicken pieces if you can find them.

Also very expensive and there are better Vietnamese restaurants around.

To me, a good restaurant is not defined by whopping prices, ridiculously intricate food and an extensive wine list. Tran's hits the nail on the head with exceptionally friendly staff, modest prices and deliciously fresh modern Vietnamese food. PS must try the crispy skin boneless duck!!

Great quality food and good services. The herbs are so fresh and the main dining room is classy, they also have 3 private rooms for function as well but we have yet been upstairs. Excellent value .....

Great mod viet. Been going here for years. This place has great modern Vietnamese food. Host Tue is always so welcoming. The ravioli, pork ribs and beef la lot never disappoint. Well worth trying. Also excellent that is BYO!

A Keeper. Love this place! It has been around for years so that speaks volumes. The tables are nicely spaced with friendly staff and prompt service. Wonderful food and highly recommend.

Fantastic food. The Pancake is exceptional, we also like the boneless duck. The black rice for dessert was a surprised too.
Excellent meal for $164 for 4...

Expensive and poor tasting. Tran's restaurant is expensive and does not truly reflect the true taste of Vietnamese's cuisine. The restaurant is small. Moreover, definitely not family friendly. Mainly for couples or small groups. Leave your children home if you plan to go here and bring plenty of cash. Personally, there are abundance of other good Vietnamese restaurants nearby. It was the first time and last time for me.

Tran's well & truly lived up to its high approval rating with friendly service and exceptional food. The stand out dishes were the Vietnamese pancakes and the lemongrass chicken. Highly recommended, but not cheap for this cuisine. Expect to part with approx $50 per head + drinks. Tran's also offers very affordable BYO corkage which only adds to the appeal.

This unassuming little Vietnamese place will knock your socks off. Excellant food and it's BYO. The prawn coconut curry actually comes served in a coconut - yum!
