We had the best day ever at our wedding reception at Sergeants Mess and all staff were exceptionally helpful and receptive to any questions or needs on the day. We have heard complements from our guests and our vendors on just how polite, insightful and accommodating all staff were!
To be honest, it was no surprise the day itself went so smoothly, because from our first initial meeting with Isabelle - Venue Sales Manager, we could tell that the venue was accommodating to our tailored requests, friendly and focused on delivering us (as your clients) the best day we could imagine, ensuring we had everything we needed. These client-focused conversations were a key differentiator when we decided to choose SM to host our wedding reception.
Even during the uncertainty of COVID, Christine who was our assigned Event Sales Coordinator was readily available to answer any questions we had, and provided timely updates ensuring we remained informed about the current COVID restrictions and how it may impact our scheduled day. Following the decision to postpone due to COVID restrictions, Christine worked with us to quickly secure a new date in a year's time. The only negative experience we had the whole time with Sergeants Mess, was that when we postponed due to the COVID restrictions and rescheduled for a year's time, our per person rate (and minimum spend) did not change despite the fact that we moved from Saturday rates/fees to instead be Sunday rates/fees. This was extremely frustrating and something we did not anticipate, as we assumed that by postponing from a Saturday evening to a Sunday evening (at the same time of year), the new per person cost (and hence the minimum spend) would be reflective of the Sunday rates, not the originally booked Saturday rates, particularly when there were no Saturday's available that worked with our vendors we had already paid for. This is not a critic on any person in particular, but rather the T&Cs not being clear when originally signed. This was the only negative experience we had across the whole experience.
Once rescheduled, Christine was amazing as always. So helpful, informative and supportive in helping us ensure we had planned our whole reception. Christine went above and beyond in her service in particular, by answering questions we weren't too sure of as we didn't have a wedding planner / stylist so she filled in and answered as many questions as she could. Christine helped organise our tasting evening at a date that worked for both of us and our families. She then worked with the kitchen to ensure meals were cooked exactly to our liking as per the tastings, and all dietary requirements were accounted for. Christine was also receptive to late / last minute changes as a result of COVID, meaning we had to replace some guests. Christine's can-do attitude, calm and personable nature are to be commended in helping us both feel so comfortable and confident that our wedding night at Sergeants Mess would be truly incredible.
On the night itself, the on-shift Venue Manager introduced themselves to us and catered to any needs we had, and also helped look after our VIP guests through tailored service, truly above and beyond what they expected. The food and drinks were incredible! Although a limited drinks options, the drinks were still incredible! Plenty of food options, and all food was exceptional, even for guests with particular dietary requirements and kids' meals.
All our guests had a wonderful time, and the service and hospitality of all staff at Sergeants Mess was incredible. Looking forward to our next event at SM!
Had our wedding at Seargents Mess last weekend and it couldn't have gone any better! The team, service, venue and food were exceptional. Christine our coordinator was also super friendly and helpful along the whole process! Our bridal attendant Kiera was very accommodating to the bridal party on the night as well! Great work team!!!!🥳
We held our morning ceremony and lunch reception at Sergeants Mess. The venue location is perfect, it’s an elegant space with stunning views over the harbour and Eastern Suburbs. The support from the staff leading up to the day (esp. Lily) was amazing, no question or request was a problem and dealings were always prompt and professional. One of the reasons for choosing this venue was that we wanted a restaurant like experience for our guests, and on the day there was no faulting the service we received. A key highlight was the food, which was stunning and received rave reviews from our guests. This is a perfect location for a stylish wedding celebration!

What a wonderful place to celebrate your wedding. We could not fault them on anything. The planners did a great job making sure every detail was noted and implemented. The food was amazing and our guests are still talking about how good it was. The location is beautiful as is the room. The service was impeccable. Abby and her assistant took care of every detail and preempted our every need. It was magical. I’d do it all again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much. 🤩🤩

Lily, our appointed event planner, was an absolute delight to work with in planning our wedding day. Lily was flexible, reliable, approachable, easy-going with excellent communication in organising every aspect of our ceremony and reception. We unfortunately had to make a number of last minute changes but Lily was so understanding and accommodating and it never became an issue.
Chris, the front of house manager on our wedding night, was amazing in his professionalism in ensuring our wedding night ran smoothly. He effectively and efficiently dealt with issues that arose on our behalf and always had our best interests at heart to ensure that our night was amazing. Chris regularly checked in on us throughout the night to see if we needed anything, he delivered a truly hospitable and outstanding service.

We had our perfect wedding here, it was a no brainer when we visited for the first time that this was it. Christine our wedding coordinator and Amanda was incredible and had answers to every question we had. Our bridal attendant and on the day coordinator was amazing as well. The high attention to detail and care they took from day one to menu sampling to the day blew us away. The food was also really delicious, our guests raved about the food non stop and how beautiful the venue was. Thank you for making our day perfect :)
One of the best, if not the best, wedding venues in Sydney! Food was great, staff were very professional and our wedding coordinator Christine was a huge help in organising our evening. The water view from the venue is picturesque on a clear day and the venue itself is amazing. Our guests commented on how impressed they were with the venue as well.
