Brunch has been a favourite of ours for a number of years now. We love the creativity of Owner and Head chef Louise. She and husband Mark have a unique talent of making you feel like you are part of the family and their staff are always attentive and helpful. We enjoy the variety on the menu and that the breakfast options are available all day. We have celebrated a number of significant birthdays and anniversaries at Brunch with family and friends, and were delighted to try today's special of Rosemary and garlic mushrooms with French Brie, poached egg and spinach on sourdough toast - quite delicious! Whether you go for a meal or coffee and cake, you won't be disappointed!
Absolutely amazing food and coffee. One of the best coffees I have ever had, the food was incredible and obviously all homemade. Their cheesecake has won a gold medal and I can see why as it has ruined all other cheesecakes for me. I will hands down be a return customer. Well done guys.
Quaint, cosy and warm. Staff were attentive and engaging.
We asked if we could share a main and staff were more than happy to indulge us.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Truffle oil Mushrooms served on sourdough with mixed roasted vegies. Very tasty and plenty to share for the two of us. We then enjoyed amazing buttermilk scones, delish jam & cream. Nice to have 'real' & tasty jam, can often be a let down even when you have the best scones. Price - good.
On a crisp autumnal day in the Dandenong's, Brunch ticked our box. Cosy fires, rustic and quaint setting. We will be back again. Thankyou
Staff is really friendly and food was delicious. They place feels cosy with the chimney fire. They have not disappoint me at all every time I come for lunch. Highly recommended.
Nice place on Mount Dandenong. Peppermint tea is pretty good. I ordered the pan breakfast, everything tastes good and healthy. Very quiet and the service is awesome!Dog friendly.😝
Love this hidden gem on Mt. Dandenong tourist road. It’s my second time here and it hasn’t disappoint me.
Both times I had breakfast in the pan, a balanced big breakfast of mushroom, spinach, bacon, tomatoes, fried eggs sunny side up and lovely sourdough toast. Friends I was with had a range of different award winning and sharing dishes, which were all very good.
The just have at this place are their home made dessert/tea time treats - the award winning raspberry and lime cheesecake, the home made apple pie and the scones were wonderful. Highly recommended you dropping by if you are a fan or those.
There’s inside and outside seating, and when I was there in the cold they had a fire going inside, wonderful and cosy. Both times I saw lots of dog lovers and kids having a great time hanging outside while having their lunch.
Highly recommended for a simple but delicious and relaxing meal.

I had my birthday lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. The whole experience was excellent - Brunch café looked after us all so well! The café is so interesting inside - has a lovely feel, and set in the beautiful Mt Dandenong!
The food was great - all the guests enjoyed their meals, and we were particularly impressed with the many varied vegan options! From Parmas to Vegan Platters, there was something for everyone.
The team are so lovely and accommodating - from the waiters, to the manager to the chef! All of the team at brunch made sure our experience was a great one. Definitely a great place to celebrate an occasion, or just have a quiet breakfast or lunch.
Thank you for having us Brunch café!
We are so lucky found this place is just what we were waiting for. The friendly staff was quick and nice. All kids are exciting for this new place and of coz they all jump into the playground while parents enjoy chatting. Our breakfast were very tasty and good quality. The home feel was so nice. You can see the piano, picture and books. We really like the open fire place.
Most people believed this is the good place for all parties, no matter lover, family and friends.
If you are fond of food photography, here is very good place to hanging around and practice your skills. For kids, they can have free books to take it home and play board games in the cafe as well.
The only complaint: The outside playground is not safe enough for kids, beware your kids when they play outside and always look after them while you have a free time.
ciao
Drove up the mountain today to find an 'out of the way' cafe away from the hustle and bustle of suburbia. I could't believe our luck. This place is just what we were looking for. The service was quick and friendly. There was no delay in receiving our coffees and our freshly made lunch was not far behind. Our meals were very tasty and ingredients of excellent quality. We arrived for a late lunch just as everyone else was leaving. The ambiance was peaceful, with an open fire place crackling away and birds singing in the treetops all around.
It is the sort of place I reckon the locals would frequent and would probably wish they could keep to themselves! Too bad! We've found it now! We will return.
went to Brunch today due to happy memories of when it was Ladyhawke Cafe. Loved the menu as it wasn't all bacon and bread based options. There was avo on the menu and my partner gave the thumbs up for the baguette filled with chicken, avo and feta. I went for the quinoa crumbed chicken with superfood salad. Wonderful flavours and loved the almost panko style crumb. We didn't stay for coffee but will return to do so and sample the cakes. Also loved that they have an entire, separate vegan menu. Service was friendly but not clear if you order at the counter or table. Probably write it on the menu to clarify.
Best coffee I've had in the Dandenongs. Very impressed. Sweet little restaurant too. Had a breakfast there that was pretty tasty ... the coffee was the stand out for me
Points for: Country style menu, cosy homely atmosphere
Venue - It's a quirky cafe - basically a house with tables scattered throughout, but it has its charms as a country style cafe. The large table out the study is almost private dining and great for large groups. Romantic fireplace makes it very inviting during winter.
Food - The menu is extensive if not confusing - some dishes are duplicated. Hearty dishes perfect for brunch (obviously). I keep coming back to try other dishes and I haven't been disappointed yet. I usually order a strong latte, which comes out pretty decent - not too weak or bitter.
Service - hit and miss. You might get someone new but the manager is always attentive. It's a little difficult to get service if you're tucked away in a corner of the house.
Pretty good value, fresh hearty food and a full bodied coffee, I will always come back.
might be biased cause was very hungry but got the food platter + shrooms was real nice, ham was top notch - raspberry jam was a bit too sweet i would say beetroot jam or balsamic vin would go better here, but all in all seemingly small serve was filling and delsiiosuh. poached eggs were done very nicely. coffee was one of the best coffees I've had in a long time - and delicious as far as decaf goes. cool $2 book buying honour system too and nice place
Quirky little place set in a beatiful area. Hardly noticd the road. Very comfortable seating. Nice and quite when we arrived. Service was really good. Hot chocolate was amazing.
Food:
Quality food that has more imagination than the stock standard brunch items you see on many menus these days. Had the beef wahldorf burger and it tasted fresh and full of flavour.
Ambience:
Absolutely stunning set in the beautiful Dandenong ranges. Worth the drive..eat outside on a warm day!!
Service:
Friendly and competent with plenty of smiles
Point of difference:
Would have to be the location and slight quirkiness this place entails! Very refreshing!!
Had a beautiful family brunch at the Brunch today. Food were excellent!! Most try the Hearty steak pie!!!!! The open fire place was heart warming. An Award winning cafe, and the home made jam is available for purchase, very very yummy!!
Father's Day lunch, the set menu had great options and they were happy to cater for vegan and gluten free. All of the food was fantastic, great coffee and friendly staff. Only downside was the floors were a dusty/could have done with a good sweep for crawling baby to roam around. Will be going back.
How nice is it, to turn up without a booking and someone goes out of their way to accommodate your group. :)
It was a busy Sunday lunch time but, we were seated and fed without being rushed within an hour or so. Quirky, cozy and very relaxed.. Chicken brioche 👌🏼
Had the most amazing big breakfast here! Food was delicious and of great quality, staff was friendly and were helpful, the environment was beautiful we got to sit outside under the trees felt like you were in a fairytale! Excited to go back for another yummy breakfast!
We went to Brunch this afternoon for the second time. I have to say that this should not be called a cafe but instead a restaurant. The food was excellent and the service exceptional. The three course lunch for $29 is fantastic value. The biggest disappointment for me was seeing the business is up for sale as we left. My advice to zomato readers - go to Brunch as soon as possible to enjoy this treasure before it potentially changes hands!
Cosy place, service was great.
Friendly staff and attentive.
There was a big takeaway order before we arrived so our food was delayed. They offered us drinks on the house while we were waiting. Thumbs up!
Great staff and ambience but my food and coffee was disappointing. The quinoa salad with roast vegetables was bland and fairly devoid of the anticipated roast vegetables promised in the menu. The coffee was luke warm and weak. The sticky date pudding was not good. A couple of people at our table had nicer meals and so I may return and order something different next time.
Very nice atmosphere. Not in the centre of a tourist area which is great. Both our meals were tasty. Would recommend this to friends........
nice food, ordered garlic bruschetta and French Earl Grey which was very pleasant.
The scenery was peaceful and calm great place to read a book.the staff were very polite and helpful.
Create place and amazing scenery. We had breakfast which was the pan brekkie. Very nice and well priced. Staff very polite and service was very quick. Bacon jam was the highlight. Only downside was that they had run out of hot chocolate.
This is such a warm and welcoming place that is cosy and snuggled in Mount Dandenong. Service is great and food is wonderful and a bargain for 2 courses for $23! Had the chicken liver pate for entree and the liver was absolutely fantastic! So was the salad accompanying the smoked salmon! But by far the highlight of the meal was the dessert; we had the banoffee pie and it was my first time trying one and I absolutely loved it! The portion size for the dessert could have being a little larger but it was full of flavors that I loved. Thank you for a pleasant lunch experience that my partner and I both enjoyed, will recommend to others, definitely,
Nice little cafe. Very quaint interior. Lunch here was reasonable and nice. Menu is pretty large, lots to choose from. Meal was nice but could have been a little hotter in my opinion. Would still recommend.
A quaint and cosy restaurant, full of character, a warm winter respite. Their beautiful baked breads, Danishes and pastries are simply divine. Fresh and free range produce is used on the menu and they offer great 3-course selection. The restaurant was busy but the staff were attentive, and we could linger. Highly recommended.
$30 for entree main and dessert bargin! You can also opt for $25 for entree and main. Which I worked out meant it was an extra $3 for an entree amazing value. Thai pumpkin soup was full of flavour! fantastic service & atmosphere definitely recommend!
On a wet Sunday morning we traveled out to Brunch Cafe as I had read some reviews on Zomato. My prerequisites was good coffee, good food and a fireplace. When we arrived we were greeted by the waiter who was very welcoming and accommodating. They were busy and we did not have a reservation but he managed to find us a cosy table in front of the fireplace. He was very lovely to our 3 year old girl and told her she could choose any book from the reading nook and take it home. We felt very comfortable during our experience at Brunch. The food, atmosphere and staff was everything you would expect in this quiet place Mt Dandenong. Thank you to all for making it a great family experience, we will be back for sure!
Quaint and cosy spot in the Dandenongs for a catch up with a friend or to sit by the fire reading the paper. The menu is diverse and the service is good.
Our MG and TR sports car owners group visited Brunch for the first time yesterday and were delighted with the ambience and the quality of service we received.
An excellent breakfast served by friendly staff.
We will return and thoroughly recommend this quaint cosy little haven in the Dandenongs.
Family High Tea for 69th Birthday. Children's special High Tea delighted the kids and ours was delish. Variety both sweet and savoury. Warm, cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, young waitress even sang Happy Birthday. Lovely experience for all the family, right down to leaving and a play in the playground for kids.
Warm and welcoming. We visited Brunch Cafe late last week for lunch. It was chilly outside but so warm and welcoming inside. We were allowed to choose our own table and chose one beside one of the beautiful, warm fireplaces.
The restaurant was quite busy however the waiting staff and owner were very attentive and regularly checked in on us to ensure all was well.
The menu is very extensive. Lots of different dishes to choose from. They also offer a very reasonable set price 2 or 3 course meal. We opted for a 2 course. Our food was lovely. Simple and delicious! I asked for gluten free bread instead of the standard bread and it was one of the nicest breads I've ever tasted. Just perfect.
A great lunch. We will definitely return.
A wonderful surprise. We are locals and live on Mount Dandenong, we walked the dog one morning and dropped in for breakfast, it was delicious. Since then, we've sent many of our visitors and they too have raved about the food. I noticed that they now open Friday and Saturday nights so we made a booking...and WOW! this was an experience never to forget, a lovely warm welcome, open fire, homely décor, stories and pics of the history of the area and a very unique casually sophisticated approach to fine dining... it is refreshingly colloquial and incredibly heart warming. Go! you won't forget the evening, very special.
p.s. sounds funny booking dinner at 'brunch' though ! :-)
A cosy gem of a restaurant. Went up for lunch one day and decided to go to this place after reading the reviews here on urbanspoon! Best decision we ever made. Ordered the 3 course lunch for $27 (what a bargain!) and every single dish was perfection. Especially the entree, the soup of the day pumpkin soup! Have never been a huge fan of pumpkin soup but this has changed my mind, it was really good. The main of french beef daube with mushrooms and olives went perfectly with the garlic bread. The environment is so cosy and warm, with second hand books lining the shelves. Service was great, and staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Left very full and content, will definitely be coming back often
Best cafe in the Hills!!. We eat at Brunch most weekends since it has been under new ownership. It has gone from strength to strength in recent months and it is the attention to detail that reallly makes it stand out from other eateries in the Hills. There is a varied menu with something for every taste - and good choices for non-meat eaters. Most of the produce is locally sourced and I believe a lot of it is also organic. The owners are friendly and solicitous and they have recently started serving dinners on Friday and Saturday nights. Haven't tried the dinner menu yet but looking forward to it! Well done Brunch team!
Hidden treasure. It was quite challenging for us to find it, but in the end it was definitely worth the effort!
Not a single complaint, only compliments! Great, amazing, different, reasonable and tasty!
Our favourite cafe, even if it's half an hour away!. My husband and I love driving up through the hills, and one day decide to give Brunch a go - I must admit, we've not really been anywhere else since! The atmosphere is so gorgeous - I could spend a day up there, curled on a couch, with the fire burning and the chooks and cockatoos roaming outside. My husband can't go past the daub and has it almost every time, whereas I tend to the dessert-snacks, pancakes, and the veggie baguette (until I fell pregnant and couldn't tolerate the quinoa on it :( ).
Almost every meal has been perfect, and the couple who seem to run the place (I'm not sure if they own it, but there's always a lovely gentleman and lady who are serving or at the register) are always nice. We happened to visit the day after Valentine's day, which had been very busy, but they made sure we had a table, and even though they had run out of several of the main items my husband wanted to order, he settled on the prosciutto bruschetta which he was exceptionally happy with.
I haven't yet tried the scones as I'm very fussy - I hate the square ones, only round fruit-less will do (jam first, cream on top of course), but will one day take the chance!
We had a fantastic pleasant experience at this cafe for lunch on Saturday! All the staff and the owner were super friendly, accommodating and prompt with their service. The food and salads we ordered were all really good as well. They also throw in a small plate of fruit as appetiser while you wait for your order. We brought out 20 month old toddler and they even offered to let us take a free kiddy book from their extensive book collection on their shelves. It felt like dining in a cosy library!
Not a bad little place, service was attentive and the food was nice. I'm not sure if the banana bread is made on site but it was enjoyed all the same, I'd just say that perhaps for the price it should be two slices as the serve was on the smaller side.
One pan breakfast was pretty impressive. I liked the concept and execution, only constructive criticism was that the mushrooms were far too dry and overcooked.
Overall was pleasantly suprised. Have found a lot of style over substance in the hills lately but this place seems to be making the right choices to establish themselves as a solid establishment
A good brekky. Great service and the way brekky should be. Eggs well cooked. One pan brekky was delicious
Simply welcoming and cosy. We came here to surprise a friend for his birthday. A few of us got here first and when they found out we are trying to surprise him, the staff (esp the tall gentleman with glasses, sorry that I did not get your name) was happily offering to help us organising it. After all the laughters and chitchats, we were finally settled and start our meal. Some of us ordered the three course lunch for $25. We find it quite a reasonable price with reasonably food. We all the liked the thai pumpkin soup as entree, while some like their french casserole, the quiche unfortunately fell flat. It was a bit overcooked and dry. Finally comes the dessert which is sticky date pudding and I got lemon tart. They are reasonable but we are all satisfied with a full tummy.
The best so far is the service. The girls are very friendly and welcoming, while the tall gentleman just simply very observant and helpful. First he offered to help with the surprise, then he noticed my phone was using a battery bank and helped me to charge my phone with the socket charger. They even surprised ALL of us by bringing in a little cupcake with a candle for our birthday star with singing and instruments.
Thank you so much for this team giving us such a pleasant sunday afternoon.
Loved it! Such a beautiful atmosphere with lovely stuff and delicious food! All the little touches make this place wonderful.
One of my favourites. I go here often and it never disappoints. The wait staff are super friendly, food and coffee are wonderful. Would love it to be open in the evenings.
AMAZING. Such delicious food with great staff. Cockatoos out the front and lovely scenery. Definitely going back there next time in up in the mount dandenongs.
Beautiful cafe. My boyfriend and I went to have lunch for my birthday, when i saw the menu i realised that they didn't have many vegan options, i was a bit worried but I asked the staff if they could do something for me. They make me an amazing plate of asparagus, mushroom steak, tomatoes, avocado and a delicious pumpkin dip. The staff is incredible friendly. The place is so relaxing, you can appreciate the birds flying around and they also have amazing op books for sale ;)
Totally recommended!
Cosy decor, welcoming service, and nice food and coffee.
Incredible range of good sound food - at reasonable prices- willing to adapt too when you ask for a minor variation, they listen to you- friendly and welcoming- such a change to previous occupies of the building- proprietoress English, arty, good coffee. Relaxing! Great 2nd hand book room attached. I want to be returning here!
Love this cafe! Fantastic menu, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommend.
I love it!. Cosy atmosphere, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options and food is absolutely delicious. Everything on the menu looks tempting and prices are very reasonable. Been here a couple of times already shortly after it opened and can't wait for my next visit. Very happy with this find and I highly recommend Brunch.
Only been there for coffee but it was lovely. Nice n cosy place to be on a cold hills day and very friendly staff. Look forward to going back to try their menu
Superb. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, great food at reasonable prices. I can highly recommend Brunce for a quiet coffee or an after school snack with the kids.
Only few minutes drive from Rhododendron Gardens, this vintage style restaurant would send you back to the oldies era. Staff were friendly and courteous. The coffee was awesome and food was delicious. Love the decor and ambience.
We came to Brunch Cafe to have lunch before a visit to William Ricketts Sanctuary down the road. Surprise surprise. What a lovely place to have lunch. Its cosy, warm and rustic. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. Thank you for your great service.
Drinks: We had French Earl Grey - which we liked compared to the T2 variety. The Hot Chocolate is rich and yummy as it's made with Lindt chocolates. Highly recommended.
Food: Pie of the day was green pepper and steak. A bit dry but taste was okay. Parma was okay, not that we are much of a parma fan. The scones were nice and goes well with the Earl Grey. The steak in Shiraz was yummy. Our favourite dish for the lunch.
We would highly recommend this place for drinks, food, great service, and a nice lovely atmosphere!
Delicious morning brunch cafe situated inside a cosy cottage. I had the London Grill which had very generous portions and the taste is very good.
The garden and verandah area outside the Cafe is also very beautiful.
Great place but needs booking for busy days. Nice simple menu but wish there was more
We ordered baguette and parma, great food with low seasoning. Coffee is awesome. Warm customer service and beauty old style décor. Would suggest fixing unlevel table, and outdoor / garden to make it perfect.
Amazing little cafe, great food. I had the schnitzel burger and my mother in law had the falafel burger. Great vegan options. Highly recommend. We will be back.
