Review 2 Fat Indians - Mount Lawley

PoojaBharat Sethi
Amazing food, one of the Indian food restaurant with authentic flavours and serving size is also good. Staff is very accomodating as I arrived without appointment with my boys and my mum. dal makhni is the best. They offered sit for my mum when they were buay sorting out the table. Overall highly recommended the place.

Now in the old Meatball Bar building, the new TFI is in a better spot than previously, with the big French doors lending to a nice vantage point of Beaufort St, and a nice breeze to boot. Walked in for an early reservation to an empty restaurant though the online orders were doing a roaring trade. Note: if you order takeaway here there is no apparatus to keep the food hot, it’s all plonked on the bar where it can sit for up to half an hour before being collected. Back to our meal and the starters of Spicy Popcorn chicken and chilli scallops came out. The chicken was over spiced and had no discernible taste but the scallops were very good. Mains of prawn biryani, butter chicken and a tandoori roti were all top notch and very tasty. The biryani was only half eaten and when we asked to take it home we were presented with a couple of containers and told to “do it ourselves”. This is a small thing but they weren’t overly busy and didn’t seem interested or overly attentive, with most focus put on their takeaways. For the price here you do expect better.

We had come in to dine in today was a little busy the food was amazing, best curry house in Perth. The staff was lovely along with their service would highly recommend to any one craving for curry. The chef came and spoke to us he is very professional and skillful and very lovely in nature too. Would be back for sure.

Food was beautiful, but the whole experience was a disaster. First, now that masks are mandatory and we are all trying our best to fight covid, it’s very bad to see staff wearing masks under their chins. After 2 years, we should all know how to properly wear a face mask. Specially in hospitality. Anyway, a part for this detail, we’ve been offered a table and some water, waited over 20 minutes and never received any water or menus. After having their attention, we finally got some menus and some water. Ordered our drinks and waited other 10 minutes to finally have some beers. Kitchen was on top of the things as food arrived to the table pretty quickly and it was very tasty. Overpriced but tasty. Not a good experience, I wouldn’t recommend it and we are definitely not coming back.

Very happy with our dinner for four. The butter chicken was the highlight of night. Everything was great, but the least tasty was their lamb biryani (it's a bit too dry). Service was nice as the waitresses were knowledgeable and helpful.

Food was pretty good but it's in my opinion the curry is over priced. Not sure why Perth has such expensive Indian restaurants.. need to take a page out of the book of Indian restaurants over east I feel.

I wanted to order through the store instead of menulog because I was on their google website looking at their menu and saw I would save $12 which is good since prices are rising with fuel. Yet I got charged just as much as menulog would of charged me and I picked it up. I would've got it delivered for free. Don't put up a menu with prices you don't even respect. Adding extra $2 on main course, added extra $2 on the naan bread and $2.50 on the rice. That's ridiculous. Food was on par with Indian food from a food court but double the price.
Swosti Shrestha
Worst food I’ve ever had.. ordered paneer chilli milli and could even eat any pieces. Lots of imlis in biryani. Very disappointed.wish i could give them negative points 🙄

Been here with friends and family
Tried chicken biryani, butter chicken, Nan with a beer
All was really great
Good ambiance
Good service and good staff
Overall a great place for Indian food

Best Indian Food in Perth I think. The only reason I gave it 4 star as the waiter was rude upon entering as they couldn't find my booking. Hope they Improve.

Would like Dal Makhani butter paneer masala Malai chicken chicken tandoori palak paneer and garlic naan in Mount lawley two fat Indians is very nice
DforDee
Good Indian food. We had the lamb Briyani (v generous portion) and kids sized butter chicken set. Both were good. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Regular Indian cuisine. A bit exxy for what it is. Overall reasonable night out. Why can't these places spit bills or do separate orders? Such a hassle at the end of the meal sorting out the bill for a table of 12.
Kudokun
This is definitely not a casual dining place. More of a fancy indian restaurant. It is very pricey. But that being said, it is one of the best indian food I have tasted. Their chicken tikka masal is juicy and yummy - eventhough portion is small for a $24.95 dish + $5 rice.
Dheeraj M. Tolanii
Fantastic Indian cuisine. Service was good, excellent taste and quality and very nice ambience. Had a fantastic dinner with family. Basically I can’t complain about this restaurant. Much recommended Venue to dine.

I've been here Yesterday with my Team for Dinner, ordered a few veg and non-veg items with a few beers and drinks. The curries was good and had authentic Indian taste but the starters and rotis were average. The Mango drink, drinks and desserts were really good.
Ambiance-4/5*
Food- 3/5*
Drinks 4/5*
I would recommend it at 3.5/5* overall.

So basically, today we went to Perth’s WORST Indian Restaurant. 2 FAT INDIAN! Tbh! DISGRACE TO INDIAN FOOD N CULTURE.

Why I say this!
1) We walk in the restaurant and because we were Asians, WE WERE NOT GIVEN A SIT straight up even though manager saw us. We had just wait ..... wait and then got a SIT! ABT 10 mins later! When I didn’t get served I got up and requested someone to come. SURELY they’re not racist!

2) Today was my mates 24th BD, so request to get me a desert with an candle. GUESS WHAT THEY DO, “sorry we forgot” I reminded 2-3 times before serving ! Also, desert was just one worst ever had.
Then, when food came, the naan’s were really average. Asked for chai came after 20 mins of food, and it was legit HORRIBLE. Too much milk no really masala and was just SHIT!

3) Tables are really average size for 4 people.

4) Orders were mixed up.

5) last but not least toilets filthy and disgusting. No lights too 😪

I have travelled alot, even Indian food in Indian and alot of places aboard BUT this WORST PLACE EVER! High don’t recommend.!!
Foodie In The House
We booked the Groupon thali lunch - $49 for two including a glass of wine- and it was excellent.

It was all you can eat and so I was expecting a slightly different arrangement and thought I’d have to ask for more but I was so full I didn’t need to.
The vegetarian curries were superb - all very different and very tasty.

Definitely recommended.
Salmon Avocado
First time here for a while. Used to come here often but then had a great Indian place closer to home. The food was very good and service fast. We had a $99 couples banquet which gave us three entrees and three mains plus naan, raita, rice and salad included in the price. There was a good variety of choices in the banquet options. It was in the entertainment book too so 25% off. The only negative was that I felt it’s looking a bit tired and could do with a facelift, but if you look beyond that it’s a good place for tasty food. Easy to get to by bus too and close to the Queens pub for a pre/post drinkies.
Laura Morgan
Great service, amazing food. Definitely will be back!
Walked in without a booking and got really attentive service from then on. Mixed platter was great to taste a few things and a nice light entree for four people. Mains were great all round. Pricing was reasonable and portion sizes were perfect.
Wonderful dining experience.
Anne
A disappointing evening at what used to be a favourite restaurant. A quiet Monday evening should have allowed for good service but staff were not attentive (too busy talking with each other) and dirty plates were left on table for too long and no offering of dessert menus or coffee. Very small portions which although tasty were overpriced.
Saurav Jha
Among the very few Indian restaurants in town that consistently make you feel proud of India's delicacies. Their goat curry and paneer chilli mili are among our favourites.
Lady X
This place seems to be a more upscale Indian restaurant. Food was good here but not outstanding. Portion sizes were on the smaller side and would have been really pricey if we paid full price. (There was a half price dining promotion recently here) The aloo paratha was crispy outside and the potato filling was melty which was awesome. Goan fish curry and lamb biryani were flavourful but I found the lamb biryani too oily after a while.
Starving Quokka
Great great Indian cuisine! I loved their goat biryani with a dense yogurt sauce, accompanied by crunchy garlic naan and sweetest mango lassi! Highly recommended. Very nice atmosphere, good for romantic dinner.
Tan13gary
Good and tasty Indian food. A bit pricey but worth it especially when you are looking for a good spicy meal in a cold night . Love their garlic naan !

I love Indian food and have eaten it in many countries and cities but I have never had such amazingly tasting food as at 2 Fat Indians in Mt Lawley. We (3) started with Samosa and Onion Bhaji follow by Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Rogan Josh, Amritsari Bhuna Goat Curry washed down with a very tasty Margaret River Merlot, Asahi & a better than average Mojito. Outstanding service to compliment the food. Definitely be back.... so much more to taste on the menu. Oh and the price... around $50 each. Worth every cent!

We were looking forward to a great night out at Two Fat Indians Mt Lawley on Easter Saturday. Alas, it all did not go according to plan. First they did not have our bookings despite a lengthy phone call to them two days before. We sat in the cubicles which have a piece of leather covering the well worn seats. The leather sticks to you and is not secured so keeps falling off. However, two of our group were serious coeliacs and we were rather surprised that the chef came to our table and spent some time going over their dietary needs. He was brilliant and the food was excellent. However, when we came to pay our bill we wanted to use our two Entertainment Cards but were told that it was their policy to only acccept one. In addition we simply wanted to split the bill down the middle but it took almost five minutes of intense lobbying for the restaurant to be able to accept that. Then when they did we simply did two tap and goes, taking the best part of a total of ten seconds, for us to pay. When will Perth restaurants catch up to the 21st century and allow separate billing like most other places in the world? While the food and chef were very good, the other parts of our experience mean we will not be returning there in a hurry. Disappointing.
Eunice Lau
Really great customer service and good food. Very filling as much as I don't like wasting food I couldn't finish it. The lentils were a little too buttery for me, but good as a small portion.

Bad Food, Appalling Customer Service & Rude Manager
We went to Two Fat Indians for an unlimited buffet lunch Thali on Sat. Noticed that the quality of food has deteriorated. The quantity has been reduced. We had to ask some other people to call/signal the manager as the manager was busy cleaning the cutlery and listening to music. It was very frustrating. We had to specifically ask for dessert etc which is normally provided as part of the unlimited buffet lunch option. The manager also flatly refused to give us the groupon discount and insisted that, we show him the groupon while previous managers haven’t as we have been a regular customer. We are never going there again!!!!!! This lunch has left a bad taste in our mouths. I wouldnt recomend this restaurant to anyone.
Drew Powers
we had a midweek dinner here. went for the banquet options (half vegetarian and half meat) for simplicity and variety. so much food, really delicious, friendly service, good value. overall very happy
Aidan "Avvinash" Louis
What a coincidence, me being a fat Indian myself visited here last week and I was TOTALLY SHOCKED with the crunchiness of the poppadoms, they broke down in my mouth so perfectly like a swing from Virat Koli in his latest match, what a lovely place to dine in!
Mr Robot
A fairly upmarket Indian eatery, opening the big heavy doors leads you to a embellished interior decor. We had booked prior to arrival, an Indian buffet. This gave us 5 different dips and unlimited naan bread. Each dip had a contrasting taste - sweet, sour, spicy, creamy, etc. and really enlightened the taste buds. If you've never had Indian food before, I recommend this place to begin with as it gives you a little taste of everything.

One of my favourite indian restaurant's in perth. Busy or not, always a welcoming environment. Food always served on time. Staff are great on asking if i wanted more drinks (alchohol) and menu has great choices. Mt lawley is the place to be when it comes to food.

Visited 2 Fat Indians Friday night for a meal. Started off with a standard table and noticed the booth tables so asked to sit there if one was free, the staff were so accommodating and we moved no probs. Then the food came out and holy moly it was so delicious! We ordered the $99 couples menu and chose the vegetable patties, lamb chops and fish for entree and all were so flavourful. Mains we had butter chicken, palak paneer and a fish curry (for the life of me I can’t remember the name and I can’t find it on the menu 😱) either way all the dishes we had were so delicious and the service was amazing. Definitely worth a visit.
Prakhar Chatur
I did not enjoy the food Very much as some of the dishes were very bland E.g. Dal makhni. And the gravy of one of the mains was very watery. The overall ambience is good.
Hopey H Tatham
THE GOAT CURRY IS SO TENDER. and hot i loved it chilli garlic scallops great entree great margheritas too loved our date tonight at 2 fat indians mnt lawley
Little Aussie Epicurean
Enjoyed a non-vegetarian Thali today at 2 Fat Indians in mount lawley. Everything was very tasty and had good spice. The thali was all you can eat but I felt one serve was more than enough and would be of better value at a reduced price. Service was fantastic. We went on a Groupon and swapped out the complimentary wine for Masala Chai. Quite busy inside even as we came towards the later end of lunch service on Sunday.
Aastha Swaroop Rayat
Best Indian restaurant by far! The customer service is exceptional and the food is finger licking good! Anyone looking to eat authentic Indian flavours, look no further.
LM Foodie
This is one our favourite Indian restaurants in Perth! Great ambience, central location and friendly staff. Food is good but if you want to really enjoy it you need to know the right dishes to order. Some of the dishes that are excellent are chicken tikka, lamb chops, daal makhani, lamb rogan josh and the chicken curries. They also serve value for money Thalis (unlimited serve) on weekends and one thali is enough for two! The dishes in the thali are so good.. We normally order a side dish with thali. They also serve lip smacking Indian style Chinese food on the weekends! Must try!
Food_Glorious_Food
Came as a group of 4 for a mid week dinner, the restaurant was pretty quiet and we were promptly seated. Ambience at 2 Fat Indians has always been nice and the service was particularly attentive on this particular night.
Between us we shared:
Chicken 65 - very tasty, great eaten with the vege raita
Hara bhara kebab - tasty
Butter chicken - very flavoursome
Adraki prawn masala - least favourite, not very tasty
Udaigiri Aloo (potatoes) - nice
Nizami handi (vege curry) - very ordinary
Jeera rice & Garlic Naan is quite good here too.

All in all, the food here is nice but a little inconsistent (some really great dishes and some very ordinary ones). We did not order drinks (just bottled water) and the bill came to a total of $170. Worth checking out if you're looking for an Indian fix.

This is honestly by far THE best Indian restaurant in Perth! The only fault is that it is no longer available on UberEats for Mt Hawthorn anymore!!!!
Akash Pal
Just had the Nawabi murg and i can truly say, salivating... delicious. I would recommend any one in Perth looking for some Indian food to head here for an amazing gastronomic experience.

Amazing food if your looking for some awsome quality curry and the service are always exellent. The atmosphere is really cosy sittint by the heater outside. I will be back soon

I have been to numerous Indian Restaurants in Perth and you normally get served your main meal in a silver bowl ( not sue of the correct name) which normally is enough for 2people, they serve there main meal in a small ramekin. My friend and I ordered the Butter Chicken to share and you were lucky if there were 4 pieces of chicken and mostly sauce and for $24.95 that was expensive, Guys you need to up your serves
Nickcollins198611
There are a few times in life when a meal is so expertly crafted and designed, this was one of the best Indian food experiences I have had!
It is very rare that I write reviews but these guys deserve a pat on their shoulders for the excellent food quality, the amazing menu choices and the top notch customer service. One of the only restaurants where the staff knows their food and we were given perfect recommendations based on our 'demanding friends' varied preferences.

Definitely will be back !
Thank you 2 Fat Indians
Finleyhimawan
I am usually quite fussy with Indian food but this place always our safe place to go for Indian food. We always ordered our all time favourite here which are the butter chicken, lamb and or beef rogan josh (we love spicy food) as well as the goan fish curry. The service is good and always friendly and their ambience is great! It is definitely one of the better Indian restaurant out there in Perth.
Rnanda83
Had dinner last night at 2 Fat Indian and it was an amazing experience! Me and my family had chicken 65, Tandoori chicken , paneer laziz , garlic naan nanwabi murgh. We love all of them ! One of the best Indian food in Perth for sure .. We finished off our dinner with mouth watering gulab jamun (couldn't get enough). I would recommend everyone to give this place a shot. Great food, good service and very friendly staff.
Luvmyfood
Gave it another go from my last experience some years ago.. ordered butter chicken- very sweet had to throw it out and lamb and spinach dish - and this dish was ok but not great... overall we did not enjoy it
Vishal Popat
Love the lamb chops, the laal maas (spicy lamb curry) and the goat curry here.Overall amazing food , top service, best Indian in Perth! Highly recommended.
Vid
Nice ambience and friendly staff with good and tasty food. Only the quantity per serve needs to be improved. The thali and banquet menus which are customisable are also good.
Food Lover
I went with 2 friends to 2 fat Indians last Saturday. We ordered garlic nan, sizzling lamb chops, chicken biryani and beef vindaloo.. Trust me I've never in my life had an over salted food like that. We couldn't eat the vindaloo and biryani at all. They replaced both of them with something watery and less salty but still not eatable.
I don't recommend it.

Amit Mittal
The food not only lacked in taste and flavor but also Small in portion and very pricey. Garlic naan that we ordered was not properly cooked, however, they replaced it when we complaint about it. Being a fine dining restaurant they don't even provide hand tissue/ paper towels in the toilet.
The only good thing about this restaurant is the friendly staff and quick service.
Definitely not a good restaurant for autentic indian food and fine dining.
PerthfectBreakfast
2 Fat Indians is a wee bit fancy and the prices reflect it. We started with veggie samosas and onion bhaji to share and for mains we had the chicken makhani (very similar to butter chicken but spicier), lamb korma and an eggplant curry. All the mains were flavourful. The meats were tender and I liked the subtle smokiness of the eggplant with fresh ginger to brighten the dish. Worth nothing 2 Fat Indians are in the entertainment book.
Niche Padia
One of the best Indian restaurant in Perth. The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly. If you want to taste authentic Indian cuisine then this is the place to go.
Laura Graham
Constant crowd pleaser! Service is always spectacular, often get take-away though and the food is never a disappointment. Enjoy every aspect of this traditional Indian, pretty spot-on with flavour and portions. If anything, it takes a while to cook the food, but that must just be because they make it so well. Very very little to complain about.
Monali.billimoria
Tried their weekend lunch special thali today. It had a great selection of dishes and was very reasonably priced. The service was outstanding as always! It undoubtedly is the best thali in Perth.
Phoebe
Nice ambience and friendly staff. Ordered drinks before food, but one drink forgotten - was comped when staff reminded though.
While all food was delicious, there was a long wait between entree and mains (about 40 minutes). Naan was a bit flat and crispy, rather than puffy and soft.
At $97 for 2 people: 2 mains, entrée, 3 drinks and naan, it was a bit over priced.
Perth Critic
Came here on a Sunday night, restaurant is quite empty, mainly take away orders. Meal was tasty, prompt service and attentive staff. Indian meals are always pricey and small serves but quite filling.
Mena
Having eaten here several times I really do love 2 Fat Indians. Service is always good, and I love the bar service too. The photos are of the non-veg banquet. Far too much food for us, and most of it was pretty yummo. The Dahl was a bit disappointing, as were the cocktails on this occasion, but overall still pretty happy with our meal!
Nix
HORRIBLE!!!! I have actually been wanting to try this place forever and yesterday went to the diwali festival in cannington. I asked for the butter chicken and rice which was $12.50. I got literally 3 small pieces cubed chicken, gravy that tasted like can tamatoes and some rice. I also questioned with the guy and he said thats what you get? 3 tiny cubed chicken pieces. I took ONE bite and could not eay anymore. YUCK!!!! You guys are a total rip off. PLS AVOID!!!
LittleGirlBigFood
I love two fat Indians so much. It is just delicious. The currys are however fairly mild. But that's ok just ask for it a bit stronger. The location is great here also
Megan Zoghby
Top quality night at 2 Fat Indians! Service was undeniably one of the best in Perth - we were seated and immediately brought water with our glasses topped up whenever necessary, staff were extremely friendly and didn't mind answering all our questions about the curries. Our table was a bit wonky and immediately upon us noticing, staff were there fixing it for us. The food was delicious, I would have preferred a few more wine glass options however the wine I did have was ideal. Will definitely be heading back! Great job 2 Fat Indians!
Smithyy
Definitely recommend the cheesy mushrooms as a starter. Steamed fish main was a let down with part of it being undercooked. The service is a hit and miss. Drinks take a while to come out but the chicken curries are delicious.
Shubhajoy Biswas
Though my colleagues showered praise on this one, the food was very run of the mill. I liked their goat curry though; chicken dishes were either super sweet or super spicy. Guys, what are you doing??? Indian food is not about redness in the curry! It's actually going to places like these that I now realise the value restaurants like Tipu Sultan or Mughleazam in UK are creating there! What food and what class!!! Please visit their site to get some ideas!!!
Laura Cottrill
Great food but service was a lacking. With a less than half full restaurant, we were sat next to a dirty table (the empty tables never filled) which wasn't a great start.

The food was served quickly but towards the end of our meal, the staff were more interested in setting up for tomorrow than ensuring our dinner ended well. We were going to have dessert but after trying to get someone's attention for 5-10 mins, we gave up.

Next time I'll just get takeaway.
Elly Fletcher
Fantastic food, best paneer in town! Hearty and flavorsome. Very vegetarian and gluten free friendly. Nice service, knowledgable about the food and attentive.
SB
A really good meal if you get the 2 fat Indians feast. It really is a feast! I wouldn't recommend the desserts but we fished it anyway - better off getting some gelato down the street. Wine was great with the meal. Fast and pleasant service too.
Sasha Christianson
I don't usually eat out at indian restaurants in Perth because I feel they are a rip off (also i can make a good curry myself). I ended up here by chance as other places were booked out in Mount Lawley. I dined here recently with some friends and we ordered goan fish curry, butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, garlic naan, and lamb seek kebab.

Flavors were OK except for the butter chicken that tasted imbalanced and overly sweet. The dishes were served luke warm not hot.

The reason i give this place an average rating is due to the fact it's not value for money. One of the most expensive indian restaurants i've seen so far at ~$26 - $28 per curry. It was ridiculous given the 3-4 tablespoons of curry sauce with 4-5 small pieces of protein. For that price and that portion size i would expect the curry to be mind blowing for me to even consider returning. It wasn't mind blowing so I won't be returning and won't be recommending it to my friends.
Sweet Tooth
Great fresh food, service a bit slow but it was a busy night. Real authentic flavours and good serving size too. Good value for money and one of the better Indian restaurants in Perth
Elsie C
I dreamed of water fountains all night. Not the best. Hubby and I arrived for dinner on a Friday night. The food arrived quickly but was so salty we finished a jug of water before the end of the mixed platter starter. We shared a lamb saagwala and a dhal padak for the main and both were loaded with salt and oil. If they went a bit easier on these ingredients the food would probably be pretty good. The platter was fairly substantial but the main sizes so-so.
Dan
Have dined here quite a few times with friends and work colleagues. Nice ambience and good quality food. A safe choice always, though on the pricey side.
Fred
6/2/16 Saturday night 4 of us dinned at this indian restaurant. We had a reservation so was seated quickly. Just after being seated we had a waiter come and ask if we was ready to order. As we was unshore on the food we wanted we put our drink order in. After an acceptable time drinks arrived. We pondered over the food menu for a little longer as we was all chatting. Then a different waiter come and took our food order. Table shared a strater which was yummy. After starter plates were cleared the food came out swiftly after. Although the mains all tasted fantastic there were issues. We ordered popadoms with the starter that diidnt turn up until we asked a waiter what had happened to them so they brought them out with the mains, when we ordered another round of drinks 2 of them came and then after 10 mins had to ask what happened to the other drink. When we asked for the bill that took forever to get to us. We was begin to think they didnt want us to pay. Ashame the quality of the service didnt match the quality and flavour of the food.
Reece
Took forever to bring food out obviously forgot it, last of 14 people, food came after everyone else finished. Fix your business process issue.
Amyxrose Goodey
Due to our dietary requirements (vegans) we were fairly difficult customers. The staff and chef were more than accommodating making the dining experience and the customer service the best we have ever experienced. The food was ordered and one of the meals didn't quite meet our needs so the staff came and told us with the offer of something more suitable and they would create a dish just for us. Any other restaurant I don't believe would have told us and just delivered the food hoping for the best. Their honesty, service and quality of food was absolutely incredible and I just cant wait to go back.

A 10/10 to the manager Darshaan who went above and beyond.
Troy.artemis
Terrible disgracefull restaurant, had my whole family there for my daughters birthday was sitting there from 6.50pm still waiting for food at 8.40pm nobody knew what they were doing , only thing keeping this restaurant afloat is its location next door to a pub , much better indian restaurants around in the city i would give this place a big miss
Indi
The food here is amazing quality and there is such a live atmosphere inside. Room for large groups of people to eat at.

The service is average
Le Grand Chef
Even though I am not huge Indian cuisine fan, 2 Fat Indians has been on my wish list for a while now and I finally got to dine there.

We tried a few dishes, but the favourite was a surprise, as I thought it would be a dish I would have liked the least, its was the Paneer Ajwaini Tikka, which is crispy fried cottage cheese sauteed with onions, capsicum and Indian spices, at $18.00 The flavours were very moorish and it was hard to stop eating these delightful little morsels.
Ben Chaffey
Came here with a group of friends on a Friday night. Took over 30 minutes to get a drink order and then we had to look around for a long time to try and get someone to order our food. First person we asked said that she doesn't take food orders and then had to wait for some one else.
Was relatively quiet for a Friday night also.

The food came out all at once and was okay, nothing remarkable but it was spicy and decent portion sizes.

The service in this place has gone down a lot from previous times visiting. Not good enough to complete with some of the other establishments on Beaufort St.
N_macri
So the curry is quite decent but not the best going. Staff had a snicker as we walked in but maybe because they attest seeing progressive successful Indian girls walking in with a progressive white male.

Starters were good if you like lamb chops cold and depressing. What happened to sizzling lamb chops? The mushroom was ok too.

We had a decent but uninspiring meal, deflated of character and lacking in individuality. The Peshawar naan was the bomb though, you must try.

Here's where it gets interesting...

As we were discussing our dessert, mango lassi, halwa (which is my personal favourite) the most amazing thing occurred....

Stay with me now....

I felt something at my ankles. I dismissed it, believing it to be my imagination. A moment later, I feel something again.... Whipping out my phone I shine the light underneath the table.... Nothing.

I dismiss it again. "It must be my imagination" I say to myself. But I know there's something going on.

Discussions continue. "Should we have dessert here?" One says. "No, let's go home" I always am
The voice of reason

Just as we decide to order dessert, a very large and mature COCKROACH flies up from my feet to our table.

Pretty hopeless people.

0/10

It was aweful , cockroaches walking up the walls - the cashier said its Normal because the doors were open . Extremely disappointed . Get your act together - roaches are filthy

Food wasn't too bad have had better . Service was shocking had to ask four waiters for drinks before we got any. Won't go back . Very expensive . Venue is good but not enough staff as it is pretty busy
Scott Mierendorff
Ordered takeaway curries with naan and rice! Pricing quite reasonable and had a quick turnaround! The vegetarian curries of palak paneer and the aloo ghobi were very nice and worth a try!
Karen
We had the Non Vegetarian Buffet which was very nice, it would have been better if 3 of the 4 curries had been meat instead of 2 of the 4, the entrée plate was lovely and so was the naan bread. I would go back again, but next time I would order an individual curry.
Hangry Hippo
I must say, the curries are pretty delish here..service is great and this is one of our regulars on special occasions…Very clean and relaxing atmosphere
Aisha Handa
Trendy vibe. The paneer chilly milly and the non vegetarian platter are consistently amazing! The main dishes are usually delicious as well. One of the best indian restaurants in Perth. Maybe pricier than the rest but the food is a notch above. It's busy which means they don't have to resort to the stale fare many other restaurants fall back on.

Once so good.
Now it's vinegary and chilli-laden across the menu.

Last night even the manager admitted it was too hot to enjoy! Not so hot that he adjusted the bill, of course. Perhaps the too cool 'youse guys' was meant to compensate us. Has the current chef ever eaten a good curry?
Dine in, or take away? No more. Two Fat Indians, too many times.

Visited 2 Fat Indians because it was in the Entertainment Book. We headed there on a Saturday night, and found the food to be nice enough.

Cons
Tiny serving sizes in comparison to other similar restaurants. Other feedback would be about the temperature of all the dishes; everything was luke warm rather than hot. I noticed that their wait staff seem to deliver dishes to a number of tables at the same time on a very large tray, so perhaps our dishes had sat waiting for other tables' dishes to be ready. Rice was served without a lid, so it went cold quite quickly.
Entree prices were extortionate! We avoided altogether because they were so high.

Pros
The service was positive, prompt and attentive. The flavors of the food were delicious.

Enjoyable evening out with friends and curry
The baby goat curry was especially delicious
The bench seating is a bit uncomfortable and the cushioning worn and in need of replacing
Staff were very attentive and kept our water glasses full
The front doors were open on a very cold night and it made the room unpleasantly cold
A bit pricey I think

We enjoyed our dinner here very much - the food was delicious, the service attentive and helpful, and the restaurant decor was modern and tasteful without being bland. Complimentary poppadums was a nice touch! We will be coming back :)

Nice enough. The group had the Butter Chicken (ok), the Goan Fish Curry (good) and the Saab, along with papadums and butter nana. Pretty standard orders that they would have done many times. The quality was ok without being great, certainly less than a few years ago when we were last there.

This restaurant could not make me any happier. Such fantastic service, delicious food and a lovely setting with lovely decor complete with napkins.

Best night out in long time. Fantastic food, really well presented restaurant, a real gem in mount lawley. Would definetely recommend two fat Indians for impeccable service and food. We were looked after by head waiter Jo and even the head chef came to check on our dietries and to see if we enjoyed our meals. Wish all restaurant had this approach. Will be back

I liked the mix platter. Palak Paneer wasn't too bad, butter chicken was too sweet and nothing like it.
Rice and naan were awesome.

Non-event. Called on Sunday afternoon to book for the coming Saturday night. The phone call was so brief and weird.
Turned up on the Saturday. Annnnndddd... Low and behold our booking wasn't noted. The young lady who was speaking to us was very professional and apologetic. I showed her my call log in my mob that I had made the call the previous Sunday. She said they'd have a free table in 10mins and she'd call us. It was freezing cold outside, so we went and sat in the car. THIRTY mins later, still no call.
Gave up and will never ever (try to) go there again .

Best food we ever had in Perth. It was my bday night. Me and my family went out for a dinner at 2 fat indian restaurant. Did not expect that it could be so special. However 2 fat indian food has been truly delicious but during our recent visit, the food has just blow our mind. The starter bharvan Gucci was amazing so perfect flavour very innovative and completely different . The mains were so delicious This restaurant is not only limited to just serving the food on the table but apart from that the hospitality to the customers makes the restaurant stands out from the crowd and the best example was the head chef Vickey who is truly the driving force to the restaurant. He was not just back of the house cooking food but also comes in and talk to the customers in person to make sure they are enjoying their food.
I can't thank enough chef Vickey and the whole team of 2 fat indian restaurant for making my bday so so special by bringing over a delicious bday cake just to make my day more special.
It was truly incredible experience
Would highly recommend to make ur day special with amazing food and highly standardised hospitality

YUM YUM YUM!!!. Me and my mum went to this resturaunt for mothers day; not only were the staff excellent, helpful and knowlegable!, the food was to die for!- I have been disappointed in a lot of butter chickens in my life but this is THE best authentic butter chicken I've had! we also had the stuffed mushrooms (so delicious), calamari mimi (sweet and tasty), Rogan josh (made like it should be) and the cheesy garlic naan bread(yuum!). Definatly be back! Thanks for a grand mothers day dinner guys!!

Best indain food in perth. The Fish cubes marinated with ginger-garlic paste is an absolute must. It was cooked perfectly and had a richness and depth I've ever had. The stuffing was a perfect companion and was equally mouthwatering. I could have finished another entire order. I kid you not, the plate was wiped clean. Another member of our party had the Tender lamb chops , which she enjoyed. But upon tasting the fish cubes, wished she had ordered it. Heed my words, order the fish cubes!

The fun and friendliness of the waitress and chef brought the restaurant to another level. They were so kind, spoke to us in English, and kept us smiling the entire night. As others have mentioned, it was as if they had invited us to eat in there home. The chef walked around asking if everything was all right which you do not see in any restaurant in Perth. The chef even took the time to teach us about kulfi indian desserts which came in many flavors . Something we were pleased to try for the first time.

I was daydreaming about my next meal at 2Fat Indians before I even walked out the door. All I can say is don't miss this place!

Delicious. I've been to this place a few times before but this recent visit was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and the food was delicious!! All the dishes were authentic and spicy!

It was a great meal. Early dinner on Good Friday and not having frequented too many indian restaurants ordered the butter chicken and the lobster. Food was fabulous and wine good. Service was excellent.

Salty, cold and overpriced. I've been here a few times and both curries we've ordered have been salty (the goat and rogan josh), onion Bajis came out cold. Staff were nice about it tho, meat was tender and the Korma, bread, popadom and sauces was yum! Average indian, nice atmosphere, overpriced for what you get.
