Review Bossman Coffee - Mount Lawley

A small and almost dark and moody with warm lighting coffee shop that almost feels like a small bar only it's a coffee shop. Aside from very good coffee, you can get toasties and various cakes such as Greek sweet offerings and a Portuguese egg tart. Service is decent and goes with the venue. There's only a small amount of indoor seating, mainly on a couple of communal long tables, though many would take away. There's a small amount of free parking out the back, and you can pre-order online.

Morning coffee and tea with a slice of baklava. Beautiful strong latte with ginger and lemongrass tea. Tea was average but coffee and baklava were definitely worth the trip. Latte came in a big tall cup. Service was friendly and quick.

Friendly and helpful staff, seatings and parking could be difficult. Menu is limited but hey the coffee is simply wow and consistently spot on. One of the best in Perth

Favourite coffee shop in the world! Dark & Moody with incredible coffee and baklavas. Staff are amazing and will keep you water glass topped up better than most fine dining restaurants! Been coming here for years and the lovely owner is on the floor every time! Highly highly recommend

Love this place! Come here regularly for my coffee bean supply at home and always treat myself to a coffee and a cake while I'm there. Always and I mean always great customer service and high quality coffee. Great atmosphere inside too, great music, cool decor, very chilled out.

Its a tiny hideout with limited seats available, but their friendly staff serve decent long macchiato and provide cool vibes.

Always a spot on coffee in this quiet little spot. Friendly and quick service all underpinned by consistency in delivery. Dan and his team nail it every time and are very accommodating to kids. They do a small range of snacks and do them well.

The coffee was amazing!! It was the right temperature and had flavour. It was very quick and the staff were friendly. We sat outside in the allyway and a staff member brang us water without question. Although small, it was significant. I recommend it for coffee and cakes but wouldn’t go there for lunch.

Great breakfast at Bossman.<br/>Mr Banana Bread. Thick, moist, slightly toasted and served with fresh butter. The way we want it. Like bosses do. <br/>You can definitely tell your opinion about freshly brewed cup of coffee at Bossman Coffee Shop in Mount Lawley (and I can assure you that it is delicious!!) but you should not even attempt to s say that their GREEK HONEY BAKLAVA are not the best in the town!!! There is some story about an old lady who comes to bake these beautiful cakes for them, and they have revealed that every Saturday this misterious cook prepares real Greek spinakopita... We shall certinaly be back to taste it!!!

The coffee here is strong and tasty, never had a bad take-away. The atmosphere is relaxing and trendy. Love that the lights are dimmed low, so nice.

I’m a semi regular at Bossman and have never had a bad coffee from here. The service is always fantastic and it’s just a lovely a place to start your morning. The beans bags they sell are also a winner for your home machine or to grind for stove top.

Cute, little hidden cafe along the busy street, away from the chaos. The coffee is phenomenal! Very creamy and robust. Service is unbelievably quick, and I am talking less than a minute after placing your order. Staff seem friendly, but don't initiate much of a conversation. I actually love the dim lighting, as it creates a different sort of ambiance. Will be returning soon

Bossman is an enjoyable coffee and light meal experience. Set with interesting retro decor, the Coffee is carefully crafted and the baklava and other similar sweets are clearly as good or better than home made. Staff are great and clearly know how to run a small cafe. They deserve their popularity.<br/>Worth the effort

Came here on a Saturday arvo stroll with a friend. I ordered a small flat white which was quite small and for $4 I thought it was slightly overpriced. However it was very smooth and well made and the vibes were pretty cool in the cafe, felt like a small bar. Service was good. I would recommend trying it out for a quiet, alternative coffee venue.

On our first visit we  were very pleasantly surprised .The coffee is exceptional ...why ?  because of the Roaster , Tom Green who provides the coffee .The former owner of" Bossman ",Tom sold the cafe & now roasts in Victoria Park . His comercial coffee business is called "Twin Peaks ". Our coffees , "double espressos" were very well made . We asked about its origen & were told that it was Ethiopian . The Barista was very knowledgeable & was happy to answer all our questions . Subsequently ,since that memorable first visit to "Bossman " we now buy our own coffee from Tom Green .  You can also buy his coffee from "Bossman " This cafe is small, but has a very nice relaxing feel . The food is designed to go with  the coffee , so don't expect huge meals . It is open from 7am till 4pm . If you fancy an impeccable brew ,go there right now.

only been once, but coffee was super awesome - creamy texture (even with skinny milk!) and tasted smooth. staff were all really nice. went on a tuesday afternoon, and felt perfectly comfortable sitting and reading a book here for about an hour and a half. hoping the next times will be as great, as i'm definitely planning on coming back :)

Having been here a couple of times and seeing the zomato rating, you would expect and exceptional level of coffee every time. That is the case most of the time and I would say it deserves the praise. Large coffees taste better for some reason, could it be a marketing trick😃

This place serves delicious coffee and tasty Greek desserts. However, the best thing in my opinion, was actually the service. The 2 guys who were on today were super friendly, happy to chat and attentive topping up water etc.

The lighting reminds you of erstwhile darkrooms where rolls of film got developed but the fantastic interaction I had with the staff lit up the experience for me. <br/><br/>Questions about the coffee being served were welcomed and answered with enthusiasm. Often times you find staff at specialty cafés develop an air of haughty snobbery. <br/><br/>Not here. <br/><br/>I ordered a flat white and asked about the single origin being served. The barista immediately advised me that the flat white would not be a right choice for a milk based beverage. He then brought me a sample of the single origin while I waited for the fw. I asked about the brew method and he patiently informed me that it was batch brewed. Next came the fw, again, served with genuine friendliness.<br/><br/>Both types of coffee were in fact really good and I immediately knew I had found a 5* establishment in Perth's specialty coffee scene. Will visit again and really hope to experience consistency in product and service.

Best coffee I've had in Perth. It's also reasonably priced ($3.50 for iced latte). Consistently good coffee as I've been here multiple times and always been happy. As a bonus the staff are also friendly.

Can't toss this boss......<br/><br/>An outside CBD 5/5 coffee is always a valuable find, and with suburban boundaries playing in Bossman's favour here we are!!<br/><br/>Great little place, tucked out of the way in an arcade, BM Coffee presents a nicely finished home of coffee and many sweet looking accompanying treats. <br/><br/>The coffee (all I ordered) was an enjoyable experience from first sip until last and superpowering me for an afternoon with the kids in full force. <br/><br/>Smooth and rich, with no undue bitterness, I was immediately enamoured and even though I ordered the small size, going back for the larger serve is most assured.

Been wanting to try Bossman Coffee for a while. Staffs were really nice. Coffee came with pretty latte art. It's nice but a bit bitter for me. I know for sure who would like this kind of coffee. So i'll be back bringing another party next time.

Good coffee, probably the best in Perth. The baklava and other Greek sweets looked amazing, the pitas looked lovely and had lots of filling. The cafe had a homey feel to it and the service and baristas were friendly.

One of my favorite coffee destinations in Perth. They make a killer mocha here too. I have yet to try any of the delicious looking Greek sweets they always have on display, but they definitely look like they're worth a try.

I have only good things to say about this place. It's in a little alley and is quite a cosy place. I came today early in the morning for a meeting and it was very cold outside. However upon stepping through the threshold it immediately warmed me up. I loved the warm toned down lighting inside that just made me feel immediately comfortable being there. I had a flat white and so did the person I was meeting up with. In fact he bought 2 flat whites because he finished it so fast and enjoyed the first one. Each was only $3.50, so nice and cheap. I enjoyed my coffee which was well presented, tasted good and didn't leave a strong sour taste in my mouth afterwards. On each table there are little bowls of raw sugar, rather than packets of sweetener or white sugar which was a first for me. As soon as you sit down they serve you each a glass of water. One of the waitresses didn't realise we already had water so we ended up with 2 glasses each, but she played it off very light heartedly and we all had a little laugh. A very good location for catching up, but if you are adamant about wanting a small separate table to yourselves you won't be able to as there are long tables fitting roughly 6 people. A very lovely coffee place, I will come back to try the pastries next time.

Lovely friendly cafe.  The greek pastries are delicious, and the coffee is consistently good.  It's definitely more bitter coffee than in a lot of other cafes though.  The staff are really lovely too, and seem pretty passionate about their cafe.

Generally the coffee is excellent and the Middle Eastern/Greek sweets are out of this world. It went through a patch where the coffee was a bit hit and miss, but it has been top notch the past couple of months. Great service and great vibe!

Heard Bossman made good coffee but I was really disappointed. An ice cube in a hot mocha isn't really an iced mocha especially during a hot day. Apart from the disappointing iced coffee, it felt so hot and stuffy inside the cafe. Wonder why didn't they turn on air con on a 37 degree day.

Tue 1300hrs coffee & brownie<br/>Walked by a million times never been in but today was the day. Another app rates it best in Perth for coffee so .. <br/>Macchiato (double shot) & a bit of milk - didn't like it, too bitter, sorry. Normally I'd persevere with many sips somehow hoping this 'bad coffee' experience wasn't true but no more! I'm at the end of my unreliable-Perth-coffee rope! I'm saying NO to bitter almost sour coffee. <br/>Brownie - moist & chocolatey (I don't like it when napkin is put on plate UNDER food item but lets not be pedantic) maybe just a little too sweet & some nut thru it would have been nice.

The vibe here is funky and cool. Great atmosphere and setting to the interior. The cakes looked Devine and to top that they tasted amazing! The girls there were lovely and friendly. The coffee was amazing. It's quite a small cafe so it's hard to find but once you know where it is, it's easy to find. Will definitely come back soon.

I'm reviewing this based upon the coffee, the wait staff, the food I saw come out and the general ambience in the place.  Unfortunately, I wasn't eating yesterday.  Yes .... too many restaurants recently !! This is an out of the way venue down the arcade, but it has a sign on Beaufort St alongside the "Grilled" sign.  You cant miss it really. I really liked it and want to go back to try the food and will update this when I do .... promise. Thanks for the coffee Grace !

Love this little place. Always friendly smile from the staff and make a great coffee at a reasonable price. <br/>The beauty of this place is it simplicity. They just do coffee and a few small bite size cakes which I've yet to try but look good. The lighting is dim which is great as you feel like you can go in sit down on your own and quietly read the various newspapers they supply.

When I'm in need of a top coffee fix, Bossman is my go to place. Apart from the great coffee, it has a few other things going for it:<br/>I can always get parking nearby;<br/>I can always get a seat (despite this being a busy little place);<br/>I can treat myself to something sweet without feeling that I've overindulged.<br/><br/>The baristas in this place know their stuff, and they're friendly chaps too. This isn't a place where I tend to linger too long as it's just not that sort of place. The stools aren't that comfy and the lighting is dim, so if you're planning on taking your laptop and doing some work, it's probably not the best option in Mt Lawley. However for consistently good coffee, it can't be beaten.<br/><br/>There is always a stream of people - probably local workers - calling in for takeaway coffees. I like to pop in for a short break - 30 minutes tops - grab my usual long mac and sometimes treat myself to a piece of baklava. Their Greek/Middle Eastern sweets are top notch.

Never fails.. This place is small and simple but never fails. Coffee is always spot on, service is good, and every time I've grabbed a cake from there it's been great! Highly recommend for a quiet coffee or a takeaway if you're swinging past.

Lovely coffee. I never write reviews but this wonderful little cafe makes the tastiest coffee and the staff are always so lovely. And they don't charge extra for soy! I always get takeaways but may need to start dining in so I can sit and enjoy their treats. Go there! And bring cash!

Having just moved from Melb and definetely what you probably call a coffe snob, I was on the hunt for a good coffee I can honestly say I'm very impressed. Great soy latte, which isn't the easiest to find in Perth And no extra charge for soy milk!! Love it. Will definetly be back.

Exceptional coffee. I really think this is the BEST coffee in Mt Lawley. As a local I was embarrassed it was brought to my attention by a friend visiting from Sydney (I didn't know it was there!). It really is a gem, the coffee sensational, the custard tart thingy to die for (large slices!). If I had to fault it, it would not be the food, the coffee or the sensational service but I do prefer a chair with a back on it. I would like to sit a bit longer and have that second coffee but a little uncomfortable. Guys, nearly everything perfect!

The boss of coffee. Lowdown crew have open up this hidden little friendly gem of a place. The coffee and hot chocolate we had yesterday was top notch in my opinion. Coffee was smooth and not bitter. No sugar required. The chocolate was strong but not overly sweet. There are not many places in Perth that can do both very well. As good as Epic expresso cafe in West perth. Sadly Lincolns use to be at this level but not anymore with a change of owner/staff. Also tried one of the Greek pastries which was very nice. We will be regular customers at Bossman.

Went there for breakfast and a nice hot beverage before I headed to uni to do my assignment staff are so lovely and friendly I had a Custard semolina cake was amazing and it's the best hot chocolate I have ever tried considering that when I goto other cafés I need to put heaps of sugar in it I put none in this one and the free water given is actually filtered water not tap water which I like. I also came here last week after uni and had and orange semolina cake which was also amazing this is definetly one place which I will come to for coffee and nice cake while I'm in mount lawley

Low down in Mt Lawley. Having experienced the guys awesome coffee and hospitality at lowdown in the CBD the guys have started Bossman in Mt Lawley. They are open late, make perfect coffee and don't charge exorbitant prices. tick tick tick

Best coffee in town. Awesome coffee. Best I've had since moving back from Sydney.<br/>Had the Iced Boss, highly recommend.<br/>The citrus orange cake was always delightful- definitely shareable and will satisfy the sweet tooth in a BIG way.

The boss!. Wen we saw the windows opening onto the arcade, saw the little plates of flaky pastry baklava and Greek shortbreads and smelt the coffee we were inside in a flash. A mate previously from Perth was visiting and had been complaining about buying vats of weak coffee and this is where she stopped the whining.... Delicious, hot, full bodied coffee was served with a winning smile. <br/><br/>Ok the low wooden stools are a tiny bit uncomfy but we have been back a few times and the sweets and coffee are consistently excellent and we are enjoying better posture sitting on the stools so its win win for us.

It's the vibe!. To paraphrase "The Castle", it's about the vibe at Bossman. But it's not style without substance. The coffee is kickass. Uncompromising yet uncomplicated. The Greek sweet temptations are not a group from the 60s, but nevertheless irresistible. And the music is so good, I want to take it home with me, so I usually spotify it when I get home, to let the vibe linger just a little bit longer. As an ex booze hound, this place feels like a small bar without the booze. I love it. And nobody paid me to say this.

This place is like nothing else i have seen in Perth! Fitted like a hang out for music nerd wanting to chill, the vibe is all about comfort and the coffee is simply superb. The best i had this side of the country! The spros are beautiful, elegant, sweet and complex and the machs leave you wanting for a second , even third cup . All made to perfection by the cool dudes behind the linea! Thanks for making me feel like the cool kid in town.
